Is it possible to config H-REAP/REAP and CAPWAP in Autonomous mode with a WLC?

I'm going to deploying all new AP as Remote-Edge AP and they will be shipped straight to site.  With a pool of WLCs deployed in central DC locations.  I would like to get local staff to deploy a basic CLI discovery script for the APs.  However, i thought LAPs don't have CLI???
I'm thinking I must use a Lightweight AP with the WLC to use Remote-Edge AP functionality - However, I'm not sure... the configuration example at the bottom doesn't state whether it an Autonomous AP or a Lightweight one.

H-REAP Controller Discovery using CLI commands
H REAPs will most commonly discover upstream controllers via DHCP option 43 or DNS resolution. Without either of these methods available, it may be desirable to provide detailed instructions to administrators at remote sites so that each H REAP may be configured with the IP address of the controllers to which they should connect. Optionally, H REAP IP addressing may be set manually as well (if DHCP is either not available or not desired).
This example details how an H REAP's IP address, hostname, and controller IP address may be set through the console port of the access point.
AP_CLI#capwap ap hostname ap1130ap1130#capwap ap ip address 10.10.10.51 255.255.255.0ap1130#capwap ap ip default-gateway 10.10.10.1ap1130#capwap ap controller ip address 172.17.2.172
Could anyone help?
Cheers
Adrian.

Hi Adrian,

Note: Access points must run the LWAPP-enabled IOS® Recovery Image Cisco           IOS Software Release 12.3(11)JX1 or later, in order to support these CLI           commands out of the box. Access points with the SKU prefix of LAP (for example,           AIR-LAP-1131AG-A-K9), shipped on or after June 13, 2006 run Cisco IOS Software           Release 12.3(11)JX1 or later. These commands are available to any access point           that ships from the manufacturer running this code level, has the code upgraded           manually to this level, or is upgraded automatically by connecting to a           controller running version 6.0 or later.
These configuration commands are only accepted when the access point is       in Standalone mode.

is possible in acrobat reader fill in and save interactive PDF created with LiveCycle Designer?

    Hi,
Only if the form has been Reader Enabled before it is sent out to the user with Reader.
There are two ways of Reader Enabling the form. One using Acrobat Standard v9 or Acrobat Professional v8 (both have license restrictions). The other is to use LC Reader Extensions ES2, which is a server product (additional costs).
    Some info here:
    http://www.assuredynamics.com/index.php/2010/11/using-livecycle-forms-in-acrobat-and-reade r/
A search of the forums for "Reader Extensions" or "Reader Enable" will give more information.
    Hope that helps,

To use servlets u have indeed to update your web.xml...Well I'm not sure this is relevant to your case anyway.
You have to add a <servlet> element to this file.
    Something like this:
    <servlet>
    <servlet-name>blabla</servlet-name>
    <servlet-class>blablapackage.Blablaclass</servlet-class>
    <init-param>...</init-param>
    </servlet>
Now this may not solve your problem. Make sure you refer to your servlets using their full qualified names.btw, just to be sure, what is your definition of "servlet"? (i mean: any java class or only javax.servlet.Servlet)

  • H-Reap, Guest-Access and CAPWAP

If I use acces-points in H-Reap mode, is guest-traffic still encapsulated in CAPWAP?
I think so, but I'm not really shure.
    Sven

    Hi Sven,
If you are using HREAP's then you can choose WLANs to be either locally switched or centrally switched with the WLC.
If a WLAN is centrally switched, then all traffic should be sent to the WLC and hence being encapsulated in CAPWAP the whole way between AP and WLC.
If a WLAN is locally switched however, then the traffic of the clients will be managed in the locally and traffic of the clients will be sent directly to the network without going through any tunnel to the WLC.
Local or central switching can be configured per WLAN basis from advanced tab of the WLAN configuraiton under "HREAP" field.
By default the central switching is active. You can choose to use local switching per WLAN from the advanced tab of the WLAN as I said above.

  • How to use the same services-config for the local and remote servers.

My flex project works fine using the below but when I upload my flash file to the server I doesn't work, all the relative paths and files are the same execpt the remote one is a linux server.

You are confusing "served from a web-server" with "compiled on a web-server". Served from a web-server means you are downloading a file from the web-server, it does not necessarily mean that the files has been generated / compiled on the server.
The server.name and server.port tokens are replaced at runtime (ie. on the client when the swf has been downloaded and is running) not compile time (ie. while mxmlc / ant / wet-tier compiler is running). You do not need to compile on the server to take advantage of this.
    Hi Paul,
In Flex, there is feature that lets developer to put all service-config.xml file configuration information into swf file. with
    -services=path/to/services-config.xml
    IF
    services-config.xml
have tokens in it and user have not specified additional
    -context-root
and this swf file is not served from web-app-server (like tomcat for example) than it will not work,
Flash player have no possible way to replace token values of service-config.xml file durring runtime if that service-config.xml file have been baked into swf file during compilation,
for example during development you can launch your swf file from your browser with file// protocol and still be able to access blazeDS services if
    -services=path/to/services-config.xml
    have been specified durring compilation.
I dont know any better way to exmplain this, but in summary there is two places that you can tell swf  about service confogiration,
    1) pass -services=path/to/services-config.xml  parameter to compiler this way you tell swf file up front about all that good stuff,
or 2) you put that file on the webserver( in this case, yes you should have replacement tokens in that file) and they will be repaced at runtime .

  • Please ensure that the applicationhost.config file is correct and recommit the last configuration changes made

I am receiving event ID 5189 on Server 2008 R2, IIS 7.5.  I experience this error across a number of servers, each of which is running only the default web site, but have 600+ applications running on the default web site.  Each application
has its own application pool.  My point is, the applicationhost.config is rather large.
I have seen a number of posts on this error message, but my issue itself seems to differ somewhat.  I am aware of a similar post: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/3128ee93-1319-4cc2-9257-003512caf476/event-id-5189-microsoftwindowswas?forum=exchangesvrgeneral
    which points to KB http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc734988%28v=ws.10%29.aspx
However, in my case, it doesn't seem that the extreme measures for this resolution are required.  The error usually indicates a corrupted applicationhost.config that must be manually fixed, or otherwise the WAS service needs to be restarted, or the
    server itself, etc.
In my case, the issue can usually be fixed by an application pool recycle, or at worst a stop/start.  I have an application which is sensitive to recycles, and so we do not have periodic recycle events configured for this application, which is the bulk
of the applications on the servers.  It seems to me that this issue is usually caused by the application being in use when there is an applicationhost.config change.
For instance, we have one application that we deploy using msdeploy.  We found that when we ran an installation for this application via msdeploy, we were receiving this event, and we would subsequently get 500 errors in the application (sometimes the
application pool corresponds to that which is identified in the event log, sometimes it doesn't).    It seems like applications that were being hit at the time the applicationhost.config was modified by msdeploy were affected.  In an attempt
to correct this, we moved from msdeploy to a batch file containing appcmd commands.  This also did not resolve the issue.
I have another application which is installed using PowerShell commandlets.  We started to notice that this script also caused the issue to occur on occasion.  As I continued to identify different processes that resulted in the same issue, I came
to the conclusion that this is likely due to any change in the applicationhost.config.  I assume the issue is that the applicationhost.config is modified during a read operation to the file by the application pool, or WAS service, and that the recycle
event, which corrects the issue, forces a re-read of the applicationhost.config, resolving the bad-read issue.
Has anyone else experienced this, or do you have any recommendations?  My current work-around is to not install any applications during peak hours, and performing an IISRESET after installs are completed, to ensure application stability.

As an update to this issue, after doing some research, it appears the behavior is related to a new feature in IIS7 called Application Pool Isolation (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd163536.aspx).
This new feature prevents cross-application spillage by isolating the configuration for each application pool in IIS.  So in reality, an application pool never actually reads the applicationhost.config - that is just a master file, and each time it
is update, it triggers a change to the individual application pool configuration files, located in C:\inetpub\temp\apppools.
We did try setting Advanced Settings > Disable Recycling for Configuration Change to true, but after an IIS reset we were still able to reproduce the issue - worse actually, because in our test program, which continually hits the web
service, and also continually makes apphost.config changes, when the two events collide, the 500.19 issue precipitates; but after an additional change to the apphost.config, it seems that the additional changes will actually correct the issue (seemingly forcing
another recycle, which is also how we resolve the issue manually); after making this setting adjustment, once the 500.19 issue precipitates, additional changes to the apphost.config does not correct the problem, only a manual recycle corrects it.  This
is the recycling.disallowRotationOnConfigChange property of the app pool.  We also set the setting for recycling.disallowOverlappingRotation to True as well, with the same result.
We ARE able to prevent this issue by setting the C:\inetpub\temp\apppools\myapppool\myapppool.config to read-only, but for obvious reasons, this is not a desired work-around.
It seems like what is happening is that any change to the ApplicationHost.config is resulting in each of the C:\inetpub\temp\apppools temp application pool config files being updated as well, in addition to triggering an application pool recycle.  It
seems to me the desired behavior would be that these files are only updated if the applicationhost.config changes are specific to that application pool - but that doesn't seem to be the behavior.
After turning on failed request tracing, I was able to narrow the error down more:

This seems to be pretty static.  Trying to look into possible causes of this issue.

  • Is it possible to Change IOS of 1252 LWAP AP to Autonomous AP?

    Hi,
Is it possible to Change IOS of 1252 LWAP AP to Autonomous AP? I have seen some documents for changing Autonomous AP to LWAP and change back procedures.
    Please suggest... Thanks.

Is it possible to Change IOS of 1252 LWAP AP to Autonomous AP
Yes.  There are two ways of doing it.
The first way is doing it off-line or away from the WLC.  The process is called Using a TFTP Server to Return to a Previous Release.
The second way is to use the WLC CLI command "config ap tftp ".

  • Is it possible to use both an ILB and an ELB (listening on the same port) in the same Azure cloud service?

I'm building a test Lync deployment on Azure; yes, I know this is not supported, hence "test".
Lync Front-End servers expose two set of web services, one for internal users and one for external ones; they listen on different ports (443 and 4443) on the same servers; when external services are published, you need a reverse proxy or a port forwarding
in order to map port 443 of a public IP address to port 4443 of the Front-End server(s). When you have multiple Front-End servers in a pool, you also need to load-balance them.
So, a typical Lync deployment looks like this:
           Internal users
                     |
                   443
                      |
              Internal LB
            192.168.0.20
            443         443
              |               |
Lync FE 1     Lync FE 2
    192.168.0.21 192.168.0.22
              |               |
          4443        4443
              External LB
           Public IP Address
                     |
                  443
                     |
           External Users
This should be easily replicated in Azure, as it supports both external load balancing and internal load balancing. They are even supported together in the same cloud service, so this configuration should be easy. However, it looks like "should"
    is the keyword here.
After creating the external load balanced endpoint (which listens on external port 443 and forwards to port 4443 on the servers), I'm trying to create an internal load balancer and add internal endpoints to is; however, while the ILB can be created successfully,
adding an internal endpoint listening on port 443 and forwarding to port 443 on the servers fails miserably, with an error stating that port 443 is already in use by another endpoint:
Update-AzureVM : BadRequest : Port 443 is already in use by one of the endpoints in this deployment. Ensure that the port numbers are unique across endpoints within a deployment.
    For reference, my commands are:
Add-AzureInternalLoadBalancer -InternalLoadBalancerName "LyncILB" -ServiceName "LyncFrontEnd" -SubnetName "LabSubnet" -StaticVNetIPAddress 192.168.0.20
    (This completes successfully)
    Get-AzureVM LYNCFE1 | Add-AzureEndpoint -Name "Https-Int" -Protocol "tcp" -LocalPort 443 -PublicPort 443 -LBSetName "HttpsIntLB" -DefaultProbe -InternalLoadBalancerName "LyncILB"
    (This fails)
The existing external endpoint is configured as such:
    Get-AzureVM LYNCFE1 | get-azureendpoint
    LBSetName : HttpsExtLB
    LocalPort : 4443
    Name : HTTPS-Ext
    Port : 443
    Protocol : tcp
    Vip :
    ProbePath :
    ProbePort : 4443
    ProbeProtocol : tcp
    ProbeIntervalInSeconds : 15
    ProbeTimeoutInSeconds : 31
    EnableDirectServerReturn : False
    Acl : {}
    InternalLoadBalancerName :
    IdleTimeoutInMinutes :
    LoadBalancerDistribution :
The error doesn't even make a lot of sense; the external load balancer listens on a public IP address, while the internal load balancer listens on a private IP address in the internal network; there
shouldn't be any conflict here... however it looks like there is one instead.
Why doesn't this work? Am I doing something wrong, or is Azure networking just being silly as usual again?

    Hello Massimo Pascucci,
The issue that you are facing when creating an endpoint with internal loadbalancer is the limitation of not allowing same ports to be listening under a single cloud service. This reason for this is that there is a limitation of only one private IP (Also
known as the Internal load balanced IP) per cloud service.
There is also a limitation on the Internal load balancer more than one port to be published per load balancer:

  • Is it possible to share 1 bluetooth keypad and 1 mouse pad between two computers in target mode?

Is it possible to share 1 bluetooth keypad and 1 mouse pad between two computers in target mode? Grab a drink and let me tell you my story.
I purchased two computers... an iMac 27" i7 3.4 16GB RAM and a Mac mini 2.3 i5 8 GB RAM. Both have Thunderbolt capability and are in fact connected by thunderbolt. I have 3 problems...
    1. My Mac mini WILL NOT recognize any bluetooth keyboard. Let me back up for clarification. I set my iMac up first. No problems there. I then went on to set up my mac mini. A couple of interesting things happened concering bluetooth activity. First thing is that the keypad, which was already paired with my iMac wouldn't be recognized by the mac mini, and yet my bluetooth mouse which was paired with my iMac became paired with my mac mini and thus wouldn't be recognized by my iMac anymore. I had to go to my back room and dig out my other bluetooth mouse so that my iMac would at least recognize my second mouse. So now I have two "mice"presently. One for the mac mini, the other for the iMac. Thankfully I also had a USB keypad for my mac mini. My bluetooth keypad is still paired with my iMac but won't pair with my mac mini, which brings me to another question....
    2. CAN 1 KEYPAD AND 1 MOUSE PAIR WITH TWO DIFFERENT COMPUTERS SO THAT WHEN I GO INTO TARGET MODE VIA THUNDERBOLT I CAN USE THE SAME KEYPAD AND MOUSE FOR BOTH COMPUTERS? Anybody have some thoughts on that problem?
    3. WHY IN THE WORLD IS MY MOUSE CURSOR DISAPPEARING EVERYTIME I EXIT TARGET MODE VIA PASSWORD AND COMMAND F2. I'm using target mode to access my mac mini. But when I exit target mode to get back into my iMac I'm looking at my iMac screen but I can't see the mouse pointer! I can move the pointer around even though I can't see it. Wierd. And this has apparently been going on for some time with other users for over a year. I am presently completely up to date on Lion updates. Both systems are running 10.7.4. Does anyone have a solution or heard a rumor of a solution coming soon regarding the invisible mouse cursor "curse". I hate having to restart my iMac everytime I exit out of target mode just so I can get my mouse cursor visible again.
Food for thought.... Wouldn't it be really cool to have a target mode capability to see your other computers desktops in seperate window screens on your main display. You then could go back and forth from each window by just double clicking or by certain key commands. You could drag and drop from desktop to desktop. Tell me this is coming soon.
    Thanks

Are we obligated to buy another computer so that we each have one--or is there some way around it? Thanks!!

Is it possible to transfer music between iPhones and iPods with out using iTunes

Nope.  Both require iTunes on a computer to sync music from.
Unless the iPod is an iPod Touch and the music was bought from iTunes.  In which case the Touch can simply go to the iTunes App, under Purchased  and download the purchased songs for free.
