  • Is it possible to connect an old cinema display (ADC) to an Imac (2012)?

    Hello,
    I want to add a second screen to my Imac and I found a Cinema Display (ADC). I went to see the screen and i connect it to my Macbook to test if it works. The guy who sold the screen had an ADC to DVI adapter and I bought an DVI to thunderbolt connector. It didn't work. He also tried to connect it to his Imac and still the screen didn't work. Is it even possible to connect the screen to an Imac?

    Is it the Apple version of the DVI to ADC adapter?  The signals from a Mini DisplayPort (or Thunderbolt) to DVI adapter may be weaker than normal DVI signals.  The Apple DVI to ADC adapter amplifies the DVI signals, so can work with signals that are too weak for non-Apple adapters.
    An ACTIVE Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter may produce stronger DVI signals.

  • Is it possible to connect a 22" cinema display to an ibook g4?

    Hi all!
    So, I have the DVI to ADC adapter (with an attached usb cable), ADC to VGA adapter, and then the VGA to mini VGA that came with my computer. I have everything connected and I know the screen is getting power (I push the screen's power button and it lights up but then fades to nothing) , but the display screen shows nothing and my ibook gives no indication of the display screen being connected - even when I enter system preferences/displays and click "detect displays". Is it even possible to power a nice, big display screen from my lil' old ibook g4? Please oh please say it is! If not, is it worth it to have an enormous 2005 desktop tower repaired? Thanks everyone!

  • HT4614 how do I connect a mac cinema display to a mac mini

    Is it possible to connect both an Apple 30" HD cinema display and an Apple 23" cinema display to a Mac Mini and use both as dual monitors?

    Yes with the current Mac Mini.  Connect the 23" to the Mac Mini's HDMI port with the HDMI to DVI adapter that came with the Mac Mini.
    If the 23" display uses ADC (Apple Display Connector)
    <http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/09/AppleDisplayConnector.jpg>
    you will also need a DVI to ADC adapter.

  • I need to connect my LED cinema display to nvidia quadro 4000 graphics card

    I cant find any adapter to connect my "LED cinema display" to the brand new graphics card "nvidia quadro 4000 (for Mac pro)"
    As i coldnt find any information since now, ihope someone can give me a hint.

    They included the wrong DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort adapter.  The correct adapter should have a female Mini DisplayPort connector, not male.  You could buy the correct adapter or you could add a F-F Mini DisplayPort coupler

    Try calling the, and asking for the correct adapter.  They fo say:
    "Connect to mini-DisplayPort displays through the included adapter cable"

  • Problem connecting a 24" Cinema Display to an Imac 27"

    My friend has an Imac 27 "with a graphics card AMD HD 6970M 1GB. She wanted to connect an external Cinema Display 24" (without thunderbolt serie). The external display has started to display black screen intermittently while making a strange noise. Before this screen, there was a aluminum  Cinema Display 20 " which never had any problem. The 24" Cinema Display was just before used as external screen for a Mac Book Pro 15" (main screen, no dual screen) without problem too.  Any idea? Is the card too weak for such a configuration?The iMac was purchased on October 15th on the refurb. The Os is Lion 10.7.2.

    If the computer doesn't have a Mini DIsplayPort or DisplayPort, not until September; click here for more information. If you mean the MagSafe connector, leave it unplugged; it's only for laptops.

    Hi,
    Create a play list that you wish to burn. Select playlist, the file from main menu which gives to an option to burn the playlist. A pop up box appears allowing you to select burn speed and disc format.

  • Can I connect a 24" Cinema Display with mini DisplayPort in to HDMI out?

    I have a 24" LED Cinema Display that I want to use with a new 15" Retina MacBook Pro I will soon be purchasing. Using cable adaptors, would it be possible use the new Macbook Pro's HDMI port to connect to this Cinema Display? I understand that this does not work with the newer Thunderbolt displays because Thunderbolt only adapts in one direction, but since this is an older Mini Displayport monitor would it work? My goal is to keep both Thunderbolt ports available for storage I/O untill Apple releases an update to the Thunderbolt display later this or next year. Thanks for your advice!

    Yes, in this scenario, I'd connect the display to one of the Thunderbolt ports and use a USB hub for additional I/O. Here's my current I/O needs:
    1) esata (with port multiplication)
    2) gigabit ethernet
    3) firewire 800
    4) USB keyboard
    5) 3-port USB hub (iOS, bluetooth charger, misc USB2 or 3)
    6) monitor
    My current plan is to use
    1) thunderbolt 1 - display
    2) thunderbolt 2 - firewire 800
    3) USB3 1 - esata
    4) USB3 2 - USB3 hub - gigbit ethernet and all other USB devices
    Does this seem like a resaonable set-up in terms of maxing I/O bandwidth? My main concern is if the USB2 devices on the USB3 hub will throttledown my gigabit ethernet speeds.
    Thanks for your advice!

  • How to connect my 20" Cinema Display with my new 27" TB-Display...

    ... running the latest OSX 10.9.1 on my MB Air 2013 8GB RAM/1.7 Intel Core i7?
    I have the Apple DVI to MiniDisplayport adapter too for the Cinema Display.
    Before I bought the display an apple technician at Hamburg Apple store told me I could plug the MiniDisplayport adapter into the thunderbolt port of the 27 TB-Display to run both displays, which does not work, which I could read just now in a support article here. But it is not mentioned how to make it work. Please let me know.
    Many thanks in advance

    You need a drive with two Thunderbolt ports.  Plug the Thunderbolt display's Thunderbolt cable into the computer.  Connect one Thunderbolt port of the disk drive to the Thunderbolt port on the back of the Thunderbolt display.  Plug the Mini DisplayPort adapter into the other Thunderbolt port on the disk drive.

  • How to connect my old 20in Cinema Display to my thunderbolt new MacBook Pro?

    Hi everyone, I just brought a new MacBook Pro to replace a older model(brought earlier 2010), and a new thunderbolt Cinema Display. I have a old 20 inch LCD Cinema Display all the way from 2005 and brought a mini display port for my old MacBook Pro, worked just fine. However with the new Thunderbolt Display, I noticed there's another thunderbolt port behind and was thinking to connect my old Cinema Display as a secondary monitor. I've brought a thunderbolt port from amazon (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007KB0EGC/ref=pe_175190_21431760_M3T1_ST1_dp_1 ), but my old monitor still shows black. What did I do wrong here? Thanks!

    So currently there are two displays and you expect there to be three?
    Can you swap the displays just to make sure there is nothing else wrong?
    That is confirm:
    1) MBP -> Display A works
    2) MBP -> Display B works
    Then try:
    MBP +-> Display A

        +-> Display B

    The new iMacs do not come with a MiniDisplayPort, they have Thunderbolt, so unless you are talking about purchasing one of the previous generation iMacs such as this refurbished model in the online Apple store, it won't work. And yes, if you are going to get the full range of video resolutions you will need the Dual-Link version.
    For details see the store's web page on the Dual-Link display adapter.

    The 30" display needs a DUAL-LINK adapter.
