Hello tonnyfromholsted,
Great question. Your MacBook Air includes one thunderbolt port. Each thunderbolt port can support up to one Mini Display Port display. Thus, your MacBook Air can only connect to one external display. Even when taking Thunderbolt Displays into consideration, this Mac still only supports one connected display. For more information, please refer to the following resource:

2. How do I connect my Mini DisplayPort monitor or monitor using a Mini DisplayPort adapter to my Thunderbolt-equipped Mac when I have other Thunderbolt devices connected?
When connecting a Mini DisplayPort display or a display using a Mini DisplayPort adapter to a Thunderbolt peripheral (except as described in question 24), make sure the display is connected at the end of the Thunderbolt chain. You can use only one Mini DisplayPort device in the Thunderbolt chain.
Note: Systems with more than one Thunderbolt port, like an iMac, can have more than one Mini DisplayPort monitor or monitor connected with a Mini DisplayPort adapter connected as each Thunderbolt port can support one Mini DisplayPort display.
Thanks,
Matt M.

  • Is it possible to connect two Macs via USB ?

Is it possible to connect two Macs via USB just like Firewire back in the day via Target mode or is there something similar? I am asking this because about 2-3 years ago I would normally image Macs via Target Mode. I used to have a regular Macbook running 10.6 along with a customized-ready-to-go .dmg image saved on the Desktop. Whenever I needed to put that image into any Mac I would simply connect the two Macs via Firewire, I would then press "T" at startup which will get me in Target Mode, I would then see the disk appear in the desktop of the Mac I had the image. I would then copy that image to the T mode macbook using super duper. Can this still be done through USB with new models and if so will I also need to press T at startup ?

No, USB connection does not qualify for this, only firewire and thunderbolt, as I read (but cannot test, for the time being I have only one such mac around).
This is why the short series of alu MBs (2008) are not qualified for target mode either.
p.s. What ‘new models’ do you refer to?

Is possible to connect two i-phone4 with bluetooth?

For what reason.  Some apps were made to interact with another iPhone with the same app running over bluetooth.
All info is in the manual if you mean for other reasons.

  • How to connect two DVI screens to Thunderbolt Display's Thunderbolt Port?

    Hi everyone,
I have a new MBP and an external Thunderbolt Display. The Thunderbolt Display itself has a Thunderbolt port, and I was wondering if there is anyway to connect to DVI screens to that. My goal is to have the Thunderbolt Display and 2 x 24" Samsung DVI screens connected to my MBP.
Alternatively, has anyone had success using a third party device like the Matrox 2 go to drive multiple monitors from the usb port?
    Thanks,
    Dave.

You could try a TB>DVI adapter (here's one from Monoprice) but I don't know that it will work - I'm thinking that you could have at least one of your Samsung displays use it. You may also want to see if you can find a HDMI>DVI adapter for your second Samsung display - something like this?
I know that I've seen three monitor set-ups on YouTube - but I'm not sure what was connected to what. Easy enough to daisy-chain ATDs but it gets a bit tougher when utilizing HDMI ports, etc., and I'm not sure about the GPUs ability to drive all three displays.
Oops - sorry - strike that second paragraph - I thought that you were running a Retina display MBP...

  • Can I connect two non-TB external displays to a new MBP?

Looking to pick up a new MBP and I would like to connect two non-Thunderbolt monitors, they are nice but WAY too expensive, and I'm wondering if this is possible.  I know I can use Matrox Head2Go line of products, but I would like to avoid shelling out another 2-300 on other hardware if I can avoid it.
So any other ways to drive two monitors?   I'm surprised there is no Thunderbolt -> DVI adapter or something.  Heck maybe there is, but I haven't seen it yet.
    Thanks

here is the adapter your were looking for http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB570Z/A
you'll also need to consider getting something that supports usb to dvi which will make your third monitor connnected via a usb port. This uses DisplayLink Drivers which let you connect a monitor via usb. Warning, it does not have full support for Lion yet.
I'm using the arkview usb display adapter. there are other on the market, they all use DisplayLink. And since I'm on Lion I'm waiting for DisplayLink to fix their drivers to work on it (it's been a struggle).
If you're on Snow Leopard it will do you well to stay on it. .
you could get on Thunderbolt display and then connect a monitor to that with the dongle I showed you. Then you will have no issues with Lion and your three displays.
Thunderbolt tech is new and new adapters will be coming out for it, especially something that handles mutliple screens. but you'll have to wait for this technology to be made.

  • Is it possible to connect two external monitors to my T400 laptop?

    Hi,
I bought a T400 laptop this summer and have it connected through the VGA port to an external monitor, using both the laptop´s monitor as an extended display. I would like to add a third monitor. I am wondering if there is any way to do this or anyone knows further, even if some additional hardware is required. There is no HDMI port on the laptop of course but I´m wondering if some sort of VGA splitter is possible. Any thoughts are appreciated!
    Best wishes.

The GPU(s) in your T400 (and most other laptop brands) will support two different displays concurrently.  If you want to support more than two different displays concurrently, you will need another GPU external to the T400.
Generally, if you want to use two external displays on a T400 you will nee dto use a docking station.
I have read messages on various fora on this topic and know that there are a number of ways of doing this, but as I have never had a need to do this myself I can't tell you how to go about it.

  • Connect mini dvi to mini display port

I have recently I have brought a new macbook which has a mini DVI port to connect external monitors and I also work with IMac which have a mini display port attached. I would like to know if there is a way of attaching the macbook (with mini dvi) to an IMac (with a mini display port) to use as an external monitor.
I ask this because I have also brought a mini DVI to mini DVI cable to then find that this does not fit in to the IMacs which I would like to use as a monitor.

right now, there aren't any options to do this with the mini DVI port. might be able to try using the DVI adapters & then connect them with a DVI cable but I have my doubts it will work as the adapters only output, pretty sure they won't take input.

  • I cant audio out of my macbook pro.it is connected by a mini port display/hdmi adapter. i went to network preferencesand my tv- external device doesnt come up how do i fix this does any one know?

can anyone tell me how to get sound out of my macbook pro. i bought a miniport display/hdmi adapter for my tv but in network preferences i got video to work but not sond. i cant get my tv to come up as a listed device so that i can change setting on output audio. i was told maybe something is disabled as devices so confused any help greatly appreciated 516angelo

Your Mac does not have a thunderbolt port, but has a mini display port instead. It will not output sound so you will have to get sound through a aux cable.

  • Possible to Connect Two External Displays?

At work I have two 1600x1200 LCD displays connected to my G4 MDD and I've become quite attached to them and truly feel the extra real estate increases my productivity.
I'm due to get a new system and would like to get a laptop rather than a desktop system since I occassionally work from home and would like to just have one machine for everything.
The only thing holding me back is the unavailabilty of using dual displays. Here are the only solutions that I know of, but not that I am interested in:
o use the laptop display with an external display (problem: I would want my two displays to be the same size, and the laptop display would be too small for my taste)
o use one of those matrox dual display external boxes (problem: uses vga but my LCDs are DVI and I'm not interested in sacrificing quality)
o get a huge display to take the place of two, like the 30" ACD (problem: too expensive, and already have two nice 21" displays)
So ... just hoping someone has some other suggestions. If nothing like this is available now, does anyone know if this sort of capability would or could ever be supported? Thanks.

Thanks for the quick reply, but see my second bullet, that what I meant by the "matrox thing". If it were DVI based I'd give it a try, but my understanding is it is VGA.

  • Is it possible to connect two iPads in order to have a two page screen?

I use Goodreader to read music scores in rehearsal and performance. The display is one page vertically and requires a great deal of "page turning." the magic bullet would be a way to have two iPads side-by-side interfaced in such a way so as to have two pages visible and the ability to turn them with a single swipe. (i.e. Page 1-2 turns to page 3-4) Any thoughts?

The answer to your question is, no, this is not possible.
