Is it possible to convert footage shot in widescreen mode to standard ?

We used two cameras. One with standard settings and the other with accidental wide-screen settings and now need to have them look similar in a project. Please help. When we expand the wide-screen footage it blurs a bit. Thanks!

Fire the shooter.
You must scale up the letterboxed shot or you must scale down and letterbox the correct shot. If you scale the letterboxed shot, you're making the pixels bigger so, of course, the shot will get blurry. IUf you scale down and crop the correct shot, you are throwing away a bunch of pixels and it will look blurry, too, but in a different way.
You can hide your screwup by applying a similar amount of pixelation and blurriness to your correctly shot footage.
This is a painful lesson in double checking your shooters' abilities to use their tools. Happens. Don't let it happen again.

  • Is it possible to convert 2013 Project Professional trial version to Standard full version?

I am closing in on the end of my trial period for Project 2013. I have found that i do not need the Professional version and have therefore purchased a full retail copy of Standard. Is there a way to convert the Prof trial version to Standard, or do i
simply need to uninstall Prof, and install Std from scratch? thx mm

  • FCP Setup for Footage shot HD, But Downconverting to Standard

I have a G5 (no Intel chip) with a Sony Digital HD Videocassette Recorder that will downconvert to standard on input of footage into the computer. For edit purposes, should I be changing my FCP setup to HD or keep it as standard?
Last time I did that (standard setting), it tripled the input time as the box could not keep up. Any tricks I should know about?

What camera? Specific model type and type of media it records. Without that, we can't offer any substantial advice.
G5s are getting long in the tooth. Laptops now run circles around them. It was good for a few formats of HD, but not all, and not the newer formats.
Now, the question about keeping it HD or going SD is all up to you. What is the deliverable? What is the final product going to be? DVD? BluRay? HD tape? That dictates what your working conditions are.

  • Is it Possible to Convert 60i Footage to 24p?

I was wondering if it's possible to convert footage shot in 60i to 24p and if it'll look good.
Like, if I took 60i footage and put it out at 24 FPS in progressive scan through compressor, would it take out the correct frames? Or would it look all weird?
Just curious if it looks good and if there's a good way to do it.

Probably your best bet would be http://www.nattress.com and his standards converter. Moves 60i to 24.
    Good luck,

  • Possible to convert video footage to slow motion?

Long story but I'm filming a short video in the style of the Intel TV ads (link below). Is there a way of converting footage I shoot into slow motion?
Have read discussion threads for other versions of iMovie, but not '08.
    Thanks for any advice.

Yes. This feature is built in to iMovie 09, but for iMovie 08, you must pre-process with an external app such as JES DeInterlacer.
If you do a search of this discussion, you will find some posts that link to Karsten Schluter's web site where he gives detailed instructions.

  • Hi there - footage shot from iphone 4 and iphone 5

I am trying to edit together footage shot from iphone 4 and iphone 5 - one set of footage is 1280x720 and the other clip is 640x480 - do I have any options to make the one clip that is a different size match to the others

Damage is always a possibility. But Proximity Sensor issues occur with iPhones. There can be several problems, but the current one most are experiencing is too much light or motion is getting through the Front Glass Sensor Hole. The fix is to partially cover the sensors and only allow them small (just larger than pinpoint holes) to receive data. Youtube Videos show this fix, search there for examples.

  • Best way to log footage shot on P2 Cards?

What is the best way to send footage shot on P2 cards to an offsite location for logging and transcribing? Any suggestions on converting the MXF files to MOV or other formats without having to buy a $600 program would be appreciated.

Import into FCP. String out on a timeline. Add the TIMECODE READER to all the clips so the loggers can SEE the timecode. Output to DVD via a capture card to a DVD Recorder.
    Or...
Import into FCP. String out on a timeline. Export a reference movie. Take into Compressor, add the TIMECODE READER in the FILTERS area, encode for DVD.
    Or...
Purchase Proxymill from www.imagineproducts.com. Have it make low res quicktime movies with burned in code of all the footage. Burn those files to a data DVD. Mind you, this means that every start/stop of the camera will be a separate file...just as they appear in FCP. But this is quick, runs in the background, and doesn't tie up an edit station.

  • Is possible to convert a Real Player Movie to Quiketime or better yet, DVD?

I have a great shot of my wedding that I would like to cut and paste into my DVD project but it is in Real Player format. Is it possible to convert it into a format that I can use with iDVD?

I got hitched in Vegas at the Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chaple and they recorded a dvd and they brodcasted it on line live using Real Player... Long story short I have 2 views of my wedding (1 on DVD and another from another angle in Real Player) and I'd like to combine them (edit them) into one. So if anyone has any other ideas that I should look into please let me know.
    Thanks.

  • Capturing footage shot in 24fps standard mode

I have footage shot on my Canon XL2 in 24fps standard mode. The question is what should my settings be on FCP to capture the footage properly and do I need to use cinema tools to convert the footage to 30fps after it is captured?

24P standard is fully compatible with (is) 29.97 NTSC footage, so the "normal" capture will work.
You may have misstated / mistyped? You do nothing to convert this to 30 fps. You CAN use Cinema Tools to generate true 24fps from this footage to edit on a 24fps (okay 23.98) timeline.

  • Edit footage shot from canon 60D

    Hi,
I am new to dslr video shooting. I want to edit the footage I shot with the canon 60D. I have some problems withe settings. I know that canon 60D shot in h264 so I have converted my footage to apple prores 422 (HQ)...I was wondering what setting should I set for the easy set up? I am not sure what should I set. I shot the footage in 1920 24p. And also, if i finish edting, do i just use the quicktime conversion and export the video to h264 again? or there is other setting? thanks!

That was overkill for the video produced by your camera. If you are using a recent edition of Final Cut Studio, you could have chosen Pro Res LT which would have given equal picture quality/FCP compatibility, in much less disk space.
I was wondering what setting should I set for the easy set up?
You don't need to worry about Easy Set Up as that is primarily designed to assist in the setup to capture material from tape.
Create a project, import you converted footage, and the first time you drag or edit an imported clip to your timeline, FCP will offer to match your sequence settings to your source footage. Say Yes and you should be ready to go.
And also, if i finish edting, do i just use the quicktime conversion and export the video to h264 again?
The answer to this depends on how you intend to use your edited video - are you planning on posting it on the web? The end use will dictate what format you convert your edited footage to.

  • Is it possible to convert an app from 12c to 11g?

    I am using both 11.1.2.4 and 12.1.2.0.
If I have an app built with 12.1.2.0, which does not include any 12c specific features, is it possible to convert it to 11.1.2.4?
I am asking because I have a Development environment that is 12c, but a Production environment that is 11g and I am not sure we will be able to upgrade the Production environment
    Thanks in advance..

It's possible but not an easy task. As 12c uses newer stuff you have to test everything with great care. You might find some things you have to rebuild add they won't work in 11.1.2.4.0 (e.g. components which are only available in 12c. If you read the what's new doc for 12c and you find something you have used, prepare to rebuild this part.
First thing to try ids to open the project in 11.1.2.4.0 and see if you can compile and run the app.

  • Is it possible to convert text captions to Smart Shapes?

    Hello,
I have a collegue that is using Cp 5 to record software simulations which then need to be brought into Cp6. The problem is that our standards (for software simulations) employ Smart Shape call outs (not the Cp 5.5 and earlier text captions).
Is it possible to convert these text captions into our themed Smart Shapes either automatically inside Captivate 6 or by modifying the content within the CPTx file?
    Thank you,
    Shawn

    Hello Lilybiri,
As always you are awesome! :-)
    >I don't believe an automatic switch will be possible, because smart shapes are totally different objects.
I understand because there are a huge variety of shapes in either format. But I suspect that it should be easy to convert a text caption from any style to one specified smart shape style.
Actually, I am asking before the simulations get started. So nothing has been done yet. I am unsure what you are suggesting I should do in the preferences under Cp 5.5. Are you suggesting that there is a way to convert 'some format' of text callouts, in a Cp5.5 demonstration simulation, to Smart Shapes in Cp6?
    >but since you already have created the simulations, it has to be done manually. Hoping for you that
    >someone has a bright idea, but I do not see one immediately.
For anyone else in this situation, it would be handy to have a solution (rather than painstakingly convert each manually).
I am wondering if this might be a relatively easy search/replace within one of the xml files within the CPTx file. I'm going to look at this tonight.
    Thanks for your assist.

  • Is it possible to convert to an AIFF file in itunes 10 and beyond, and if so what is the procedure?

Hello.  Is it possible to convert to an AIFF file in itunes 10 and beyond, and if so what is the procedure?
I use FCP7 and often have a sound loop or the like that I need in AIFF format, I normally use itunes to do the conversion, but have heard that version 10 no longer performs this task...?
    Thx for the help!

It still works the same as in past releases.  Go to Edit > Preferences > Import Settings, and set "Import Using" to "AIFF Encoder," and then the option will be available.  Consult this document for details:

  • Is it possible to convert *.doc to *.rtf in a java program?

    Hi :-)
My challenge is to develop a web-app in ADF Faces. Now i verify some technologies to store mailmerge letters in an easy way. The user of my web-app should upload a MS Word mailmerge document and a csv data source file. My web-app must thereupon convert this two files to a pdf per csv-row and store it to a ftp.
I have build a demo using the open office API. But now i want to try the same by using apache POI and FOP. I can merge the doc files with POI and i can create PDF with FOP.
My problem is, that POI cant convert to a rtf file and FOP uses an rtf file to create a pdf. I dont know, if its possible to convert a doc file to a rtf file. If its possible, is there an API, which will help me out?
    Regards
    Majo
btw...I am not sure, if its the right forum for my question :-/

HeHe, no sorry. The binary file is the same, because Windows bind doc and rtf with MS Word, it opens the file, which you have renamed to *.rtf in MS Word. But as a doc document, not as a rtf file ;-)
And i dont want to open the rtf file in MS Word. I want to process the rtf file in java.
    Thanks
