Is it possible to convert mp3 songs into mpeg4 format?

I've just imported roughly 4.5GB's of music onto my i.tunes but cant get the tracklistings because its in MP3 format.
Is there anyway to convert mp3 files into for example mpeg4, so the tracklistings can be recognised.
Thankyou to anyone who can help me, this is a bit of a conundrum for me as im not a whizz at all with computers and need some advice if anything can be done or if im wasting my time.

You can go here http://www.id3.org/ for a primer on id3 tags.
If the files are mp3's then there should be id3 tags as part of the file. If there is info such as Song Name, Artist, etc showing up in the iTunes main window then there is id3 tag info available for that file.
If the files are already in the mp3 format then use the "add" function (iTunes>File Menu>Add to Library). There is no need to rip using the import funtion.
Put your CD back in and drag a couple of files to the main iTunes window and see if the id3 tag info shows up. Dragging tunes to the main window will produce the same result as using the menu command.

im not going to change all my songs into AAC, I was experiementing around with making ringtones for my iphone. I can open a song in Garageband, and export it as an AAC file to my itunes, but it is very annoying. If you are using Windows, make sure you are able to view the file extension.

1. Select a title (.mp3 or .m4a) in your iTunes Music Library
2. Do File > Get Info on selected title (Windows do Edit > Get Info)
3. In the dialog choose Options tab
4. Set Start Time and End Time (no more than 35 secs otherwise won't work)
5. Close dialog.
6. Now control click the title (right click) and choose Create AAC Version
Note: If you don't have Create AAC version, switch in menu File > Preferences...(Windows do Edit > Preferences...) > General > Import Settings... > Import Using: AAC Encoder.
7. When it is done, drag the newly create title to the desktop.
8. Delete the newly create title in iTunes. <-- This step is important
9. Rename the title on your desktop from ringtone.m4a to ringtone.m4r
10. Drag and drop it into iTunes
Now you have a ringtone.
Make sure it is selected in iTunes > Tones for syncing with your new iPhone.

Yes, go to Preferences in iTunes, set the Import setting under the General tab to use MP3. Then select the tracks you want to convert, now you should see a choice in the File menu called 'Create New Version' with a sub-choice of MP3.

will get me the first 4000 byte of BLOB .
When i using SQL as i did above,the max length is 4000, but i can get 32K using plsql as below:

Or, if this is going to be an ongoing issue with new files needing to be converted, there are several utilities out there of various quality and price which can be considered. A quick google turned up a whole host of options for various platforms.
I can't comment on any of them as I haven't used them, but clearly there are several converters with command-line interfaces which should be capable to be utilized as an external command in your process flow.

Convert gzip files into XML format

We have a requirement where we receive gzip files. These files are zipped file containing base64 binary format csv files. We would have to convert these files into XML format. Please let me know any of the following.
1. Is there any Xpath query or XSL function (somthing similar like doTranslateFromNative() ) to convert from gzip files to XML format.
2. If we need to unzip the zipfile outside fusion, then java code piece to unzip the gzip file. I guess after that we can use the usual doTranslateFromNative() function to translate to XML format, since after unzipping the gzip file, they are base64 binary formats.

There is an option to do pre-processing and post processing of Files when using File adapter. You need to create a valve which will first do pre processing and send the output to FileAdapter.
