Is it possible to copy a Cross-Tab object and Formulars to a new report.

Afteroon all,
I have created a Balance Sheet report using quite a few formulars and items. They are listed in a cross-tab object. Everything is working fine except something has happened to the report at some stage and it is causing problems when I deploy my web app (the rpt file will not delete when I undeploy my web app, it gets locked, untill I shutdown tomcat)
So I want to try create a new rpt file and copy the cross-tab object and all its formulars across.
So is there a way to copy formulars from one report to another and also is it possible to copy a cross-tab object across.

(PS Unless someone can tell me why my rpt file is being locked by tomcat)

I am running windows and the rpt file "locks" and I have just noticed the \WEB-INF\lib\derby.jar file also locks. I dont use the derby.jar file at all. (as far as I am aware - I got an oracle connection).
Maybe I am redeploying incorrectly or not clearing the report correctly.
What I do is, I copy the WAR file to the webapps folder, Tomcat unpacks the app and I can run my reports no problem, fresh data is displayed if different parameters are used. I then close my browser window and make changes to my report design. I delete the WAR file in the webapps folder and export my project to a war file again - to the webapps, Tomcat then tries to clear the old project folder so that it can deploy the new WAR. it clears out everything except the rpt file and the derby.jar files. And then of course cannot redeploy the WAR file. So I have to stop tomcat and delete the project myself and start Tomcat again.
Clearly this is not good as I dont want to have to stop and start my Tomcat server everytime I make changes.
So how should I correctly undeploy a current version of my webapp and then deploy the new changes. Or am I not doing something when I am finished viewing the report.

I have tried using copies of the report but the same still happens.

Receiving an 'Error formatting cross-tab object' error when paging through preview

I have a report with two subreports in the group footer. One of the subreports contains a cross-tab report. When I preview the report as a whole, occasionally I get an error formatting cross-tab object and then no more pages of the report are displayed. If instead I choose to export the report to pdf, Crystal Reports crashes. Any ideas on what might be causing these problems?

Actually, you can search for them by entering the KBA number in the search box in the top right corner of this web page. KBA 1214209 comes up fine. KBA 1212875 does not, but it's not really applicable.
While we are at the search box, see if a search term like 'crystal cross tab' (or something like that) bring up other KBAs.

"Can Grow" property on Cross-Tab object can not be unlock

I am using Crystal Reports XI. My report uses a Cross-Tab object via SQL server. I am having problem making my data column (Field Row) to increase dynamically in height when my data size increases. Since the "Can Grow" property in the Format Editor is locked, it would not let me set the "Can Grow" to true to enable this function. How do I unlock the "Can Grow" function so I can set it to true?

The only other option I can think of would be to build a virtual cross tab, but in many cases, especially when the number of 'column' values is dynamic, this is not possible.

Error formatting in Cross tab Object

Hi All
I'm using Crystal XiR2. I have a cross tab in my subreport.
when I run the report, in preview and try to move from one to next page it is throwing an error "Error formatting Cross tab Object".

Sure you can, as long as you still have the old backup.
I have restored my iDevices (iPod Touches, iPads and iPhone) from backups a number of times. I've done this long after the devices were setup. Sometimes I restore from a backup because I have tweaked a setting and it screwed something up on my device so I restored from a backup in order to restore the previous "non-tweaked" setting back to the device.

Top N sorting in a Cross Tab object

I am looking for information on how to sort a cross tab object using a Top N filter.

In the cross tab report, just insert a chart, with in the data tab when you insert the data base available values then you can observe on change of record values and summary field values.
In the record sort values we can give the sorting with the order level or Top N level.

Sure, just use Handbrake to encode the DVD movie into a format that is playable on iTunes and on your iPad:

Once the encoding is complete, move the movie file from your desktop into iTunes and then sync your iPad. Presto, the movie is on your iPad!

I have a cross tab that maps closing dates over the prior 13 months and looks like this:

I have mapped everything that is not within the prior 13 month range to Jan 1, 2000. I have used record selection to grab records based on multiple criteria. It looks at cases opened in the prior 13 months and cases closed in the prior 13 months. This looks at opened and closed dates. The 713 is just everything in the past 13 months that doesn't have a closed date. When I don't map it to Jan-00 it displays a blank row. I tried to do a specific order sort but when I ran my report today it did not include Sep-08, not that its difficult to add the month once a month, but is it possible to exclude Jan-00 when its printing the cross-tab and then sort the remaining ones in descending order [most recent month prior to oldest]? I am new to Crystal Reports. I thought it may be in the Formula as Group Sort Order and something like this
if {@Closed Month}= date(2000,01,01) then [not sure of what function to exclude] else {@Closed Month} crDescendingOrder

You can create an install disc but you would have to download Mountain Lion to do so..

Issues with cross tabs when trying to convert our cry10 reports to cry 2008

We are trying to convert our reports from crystal 10 to crystal 2008. Reports that contain cross tabs will not execute in crystal 2008. We are getting a report application failed error. Has anyone encountered this? What is the fix?

I did notice that in a formula I am using in the Summarized Fields section I have a Next() on a field that I am trying to compare the next record with the current record. If I take that Next() out, the cross tab will work. Why would using this cause me problems?

Cross Tab Size and Formatting

Good Day To All,
I have 3 Cross tab that fit perfectly on one page, but when it was created the user used an incorrect field as its columns.
When I change the column field to the correct field the Cross-Tab increases in size shifting the last cross tab to another page.
How can I keep the original size. I've tried To lock position and size but that does not work. I also tried using format painter but that only works on fonts size. I am unable to re-size the cross tab in design mode. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

hi David,
unfortunately there are no properties in a cross-tab to keep it the same overall width if the number of column instances changes. the Size and Position dialogues for Width and Horizontal Position (X) also do not apply to cross-tabs.
the only thing that you can do is to decrease the width of the column cell and if the output no longer fits in the width of the cell then you'll also need to decrease the font size.
there is another workaround by limiting the number of records returned to a group. please see my blog post here in particular the section "Formatting a Cross-tab to Have N Rows & M Columns". this is not an easy task either as the data coming in must be a precise match for the number of rows X the number columns that are required. this is explained further in the blog.

Advanced Cross tab table and selecting values

Have a question on advanced tables again.
I have a cross tab table...
ACCT Val1 Val2 Val3
1234 1 2 3
Query fires ok and returns values, however, I am trying to retrieve the value in the CO (or AM - it doesn't seem to work eitherplace) to do some manipulation. So far there is only one row in the table, but I cannot seem to retrieve the value. For example I update val1 to 210 and save. I want to get the value and round it down to 200. I am using the following code
OAAdvancedTableBean tableBean = (OAAdvancedTableBean)webBean.findIndexedChildRecursive("BudgetRN");
OAMessageStyledTextBean augBean = (OAMessageStyledTextBean)tableBean.getgetAttributeValue("Val1");

but i end up with a cast exception on the second line where i grab val1.

u will get the class cast exception... because... u said that u r updating the Val1 field... if it is updatable...... then it should be messageTextInputBean... not messageStyleTextBean....
Secondly dont use augBean.VALUE.... use augBean.getvalue().... something should be there....

Copy Multi-Layered Drawing-Object and keep the same Layers

We often have to clone a Drawing-Object and the clone should use the same Layers. We expected that we can just select the Objects on the related Layers, Drag and keep a key (e.g. Ctrl) and Drop the copy
An example:
The original Object has an rectangle and a text on two layers:
Layer 1: Rectangle (Original)
Layer 2: Text (Original)
After cloning, we should have:
Layer 1: Rectangle (Original) Rectangle (Copy)
Layer 2: Text (Original) Text (Copy)

I had to create a new Apple ID. Is it possible to copy all Calendars from one Apple ID to the new one?

I had to create a new apple id. I do not see a way to change my iCloud to the new apple id. I figured out how to copy my contacts to the new iCloud account. Is there a way to copy all my Calendars over to the new iCloud account? I was able to "share" the calendar's. but I want the Calendars saved under the new iCloud account.

To migrate your iCloud data from one account to another (including calendars), sign into the old account (unless you already are), then save any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow), then tapping Save to Camera Roll. If you are syncing notes with iCloud that you want to keep, you'll need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself so you can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password to turn off Find My iPhone and choose Keep on My iPhone when prompted. Then sign into the new account and choose Merge to upload your data.
If you only want to migrate your calendars, sign into the old account, then to go Settings>iCloud, turn Calendars Off, choose Keep on My iPhone when prompted, then tap Delete Account, provide your password and choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted (to delete the other iCloud data from the phone). Then sign into the new account and choose Merge to upload your calendars to the new account.

Is it possible to remove hard drive from G5 and install it on new MacPro?

My G5 will not power up and I have files that are not backed up. Can I install the hard drive from the G5 into an empty bay onto my new MacPro and copy them over on the MacPro? Is this something that can be done or do I need to just take the G5 into the Apple repair store and have the files copied on a DVD?

Your new Mac Pro uses GUID, which will required for insalling OS X, good idea to reformat the drive again afterwards.
I'd put it in a FW case, use that (reformatted) as external system backup and emergencies.
