Is it possible to create users?

I want to share my files etc with others in the household/family but obviously don't want to give everyone access to everything. What I can't seem to find is how to set the access permissions on the shares exported; is this even possible? If it's not possible to secure the media hub then I'll be sending it back to my supplier as it's way too insecure for my needs.

Unfortunately, it is NOT possible to create multi-user restriction/access with the media hub.

    Hi,
    I've tried to open you attachment but LabVIEW tells me it's not a vi... could you check it and repost please ?
    I'm not really sure of what you need but you CAN customize you control in LabVIEW, it is not hard, you just have to know how it works
    Sometimes being good at another programation language confuse you more than it helps because you try to do as you are used to... the difficulty it to "translate" functions from a language to another.
    I do know how frustrating it can be when you think "Damned, it would take me only 5 minutes to do that with language a and after 10 hours with language b it is still not working "
    You have to get in LabVIEW way of thinking, I wish you good luck !
    A quick exemple... this might not do exactly what you need but it may help you anyway.

    I am not sure if I am correct, but for reasons best known to them, Oracle replaced rather than add.
    Even if you want to do a smart search using the part# (e.g B16242-03) in oracle.com, you get a whole list of results, but when you click on them, you get http://www.oracle.com/errors/404.html

  • Is it possible to create user-roles associations at run-time?

    basically I need to be able to add a user to a role programmatically before the role-based content is displayed to the user.
    Example: I have a role called 'Manager' created in the portal. When a user logs on, I detect that the user has the attribute 'job title' = 'Manager' so I add the user to the 'Manager' role and the portal shows the content for the 'Manager' role.

    Hi Umesh,
    Yes, we can add users to the Role programatically.We did that.
    Just see the below code to get some idea...
    IUserFactory userFactory = UMFactory.getUserFactory();
    IRoleFactory roleFactory = UMFactory.getRoleFactory();
    IRole role = roleFactory.getRole(roleName);
    String userId = "";
    //Here userIDS is the list of user-id s to assign.
    for (Iterator i = userIDS.keySet().iterator(); i.hasNext();) {
       userId = (String) i.next();
       role.addUserMember(userId);
    Hope this helps you.

  • How to create users for iFS9R2???

    On iFS9R1 and earlier it was possible to create users from the web GUI using an administrative user's account. On iFS9R2 it wasn't possible, I only could create groups or folders, there wasn't even a menu entry under "new".
    Or did I miss or faulty configured something?

    Matt,
    I'm using the iFS credential manager. And yes, I can create users using the iFS Manager tool. But with earlier releases it was also possible to create users from the iFS web GUI. Strange thing is that from the iFS Manager it is not possible (at least I didn't find one right now) to delete users, from the web GUI it is!
    Anyway, seems the best way would be OID as this is also be used by the new iAS and it might avoid the need for having two seperate user managements.
    Thanks for the hint!

  • Approval for creating users in an organization

    Hi,
    We have a requirement where approval is required for creating users in Organisation X. Also, the admin has to fill in a field SSN before approving the request. We have implemented this by changing the approval form. But the admin can still approve by selecting it from the approval list directly (without viewing the form), where he wouldn't be prompted for SSN. Is there any way to avoid this so that admin has to provide SSN before approving?
    Thanks,

    Hi Jason,
    The WebLogic LDAP realm implementations (both -- V1 and V2) have only read access on your LDAP server.
    You are recommended to use your LDAP server's own management tools to create groups and users on the LDAP server.

    The documentation makes it clear that it is not currently possible with LDAPRealm

    My attempts to do this have been met with the following runtime exception:
    Servlet failed with Exception
    java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException: group modification not supported at weblogic.security.acl.DefaultGroupImpl.addMember(DefaultGroupImpl.java:39)
    The method addMember is being called on an implementation of the interface Group.
    This Group object is being returned without exceptions from the method getGroup(java.lang.String
    name) from an instance of weblogic.security.acl.CachingRealm
    The instance of CachingRealm is caching the LDAPRealm V1 pointing at an iPlanet server.
    NOTE: I can confirm that the configuration of the LDAP Realm is correct because I
    can see the users and groups contained within from the weblogic console.
    Can anyone confirm one way or the another, whether LDAPRealmV1 supports the ability
    to create users and add them to groups.

  • How to create users in/for FDQM mapping maintenace

    Client wants to know that is it possible to create users in/for FDQM with different rights. Like for example the admin user will be overall responsible for mapping maintenace and data load but they also want to make a user just for mapping maintenace and it should not have the right to load data. Is this possible and if yes then how?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards

    User maintenance is simply used for assigning location access for users, shared services determines the role to user has i.e. Admistrator or Intermediate 1-9 etc. If you take a look at object maintenance you will see that you can make all the FDM objects listed there only available for certain roles by default most of these are set to All Intermediate or Administartor. What I would do is create a more targetted obect security model and then through the allocation of the appropriate Intermediate roles you should be able to achieve the functionality your client is requesting

    Hi..
    You can use wlst or jmx to perform all security config etc.. same as if it were perfomred from the admin console..
    .e.g. wlst create user
    ..after connecting to admin server
    serverConfig()
    cd("/SecurityConfiguration/your_domain_name/Realms/myrealm/AuthenticationProviders/DefaultAuthenticator")
    cmo.createUser("userName","Password","UserDesc")
    ..for adding/configuring a role
    cd("/SecurityConfiguration/your_domain_name/Realms/myrealm/RoleMappers/XACMLRoleMapper")
    cmo.createRole('','roleName', 'userName')
    ...see the mbean docs for all the different attributes, operations etc..
    ..Mark.

  • Create user in LDAP subtrees via UME

    Hi all,
    We have different user types (public, employee, ...) in our LDAP server. Each user type has its own subtree under the ou=User node which is configured in UME. It is possible to create users via UME which are places under the according subtree?
    Best Regrads,
    Daniel

    Hi Stuart,
    we had exactly the same problem.
    Defining the additional attributes in the sapum.properties only makes them "visible" in the User Admin iViews.
    We also had to define the Attributes in our DataSource COniguration File in the section for the corresponding Datasource with:
    <attribute name="uniquename" populateInitially="true"/> (SAP Standard Attribute)
    e.g.
    <attribute name="FavouriteAnimal" populateInitially="true"/>
    Furthermore you should create a mapping to an LDAP Attribute. E.G. the Exchange Extension for MSADS offers 9 extensionattributes for free use.
    this is made in the section
    <attributemapping>
    <attribute name="displayname">     (-> Portal Attribute)     <physicalAttributename="displayname"/> (> LDAP)
    </attribute>
    (SAP Standard)
    so for your own attribute you can use e.G.
    <attribute name="FavouriteAnimal">
         <physicalAttributename="extensionattribute1"/>
    </attribute>

  • Create User With JMX

    Attempting to invoke the createUser operation (using Version 10.0) is resulting in:
    Runtime Exception while calling invoke. Invoking management operations on Realm, UserLockoutManager and Security Provider MBeans via Edit MBeanServer is illegal.
    I can see nothing in the docs that says this opertaion is not permitted. Is there an example somewhere of code that successfully does this in case I'm missing something?

    Hi Gabi,
    oops, sent that previous post by accident before I was done... <grin>
    Here is how you want to do it programmatically
    BasicRealm realm = Security.getRealm(); //weblogic.sercurity.acl
    ListableRealm realmDump = null;
    //cast the realmDump to ListableRealm so we can call methods like newUser, newGroup, etc.
    try {
    realmDump = (ListableRealm)realm;
    } catch (Throwable t) {
    System.out.println("Could not cast realm to realmdump -- the realmClass is not a
    ListableRealm");
    out.print("Could not cast realm to realmdump -- the realmClass is not a
    ListableRealm");
    //now you can call any ListableRealm method off of realmDump
    //for example....
    Enumeration enum = realmDump.getGroups();
    That should do it. You could put that code in a servlet or JSP and it will work just fine.
    I'm not sure exactly what packages you need to import, other than the fact that
    weblogic.security.* will be a must
    Cheers,
    Joe Jerry

  • Is it possible to create APEX user in background?

    Hi experts,
    I have a page to create new user with the following items in an application:
    P1_USER_ID
    P1_EMAIL
    P1_PASSWORD
    It is using Automatic Row Processing (DML) to insert these to PEOPLE table.
    When submit it above in the same time, I would like to create APEX's user using the values which are specified on it above.
    I think that I can use APEX_UTIL.CREATE_USER, but the user who log into the current application with APEX authentication does not have admin privilege. I guess that the operation might fail. Correct?
    Or, is it possible to create APEX user without admin privs if it is background?
    Thanks in advance,
    Rui

    Hello,
    >> but the user who log into the current application with APEX authentication does not have admin privilege. I guess that the operation might fail. Correct?
    Yes, correct. To execute APEX_UTIL.CREATE_USER, the current user must have administrative privileges - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10513_01/doc/appdev.310/e10499/api.htm#BABCFBGG .
    >> Or, is it possible to create APEX user without admin privs if it is background?
    I don’t see the relevance of a background process, in this context. The admin privileges demand is there to prevent un-authorized users to open new users, without any control. It seems to me like a recipe for chaos to allow every user to define new users in the application.

    Arie.

  • In single user mode is it possible to create a user

    in single user mode is it possible to create a user using the niutil command. if so, can the user be given admin status so that software can be added to the system.
    if it's possible could you post a link to how this is done or tell me if you have time.
    thanks very much,
    g.

    the short answer is yes, you can add users in single user mode and make them admins.
    i usually add users on the command line like so:
    (i don't have any attribution for this script, but i found it online somewhere. i used to do less than this when adding users.)
    #!/bin/sh
    echo "Enter username:"
    read newuser
    echo "Enter the full name for user $newuser's:"
    read long_name
    echo "Will $newuser be an Admin user (y/N)?"
    read is_admin
    new_uid=`nidump passwd . | awk -F: '{print $3f}' | sort -n|tail -1`
    new_uid=`expr $new_uid + 1`
    nicl . -create /users/$newuser
    nicl . -create /users/$newuser uid $new_uid
    nicl . -create /users/$newuser realname "$long_name"
    nicl . -create /users/$newuser passwd ""
    nicl . -create /users/$newuser gid 20
    nicl . -create /users/$newuser shell "/bin/tcsh"
    nicl . -create /users/$newuser home "/Users/$newuser"
    nicl . -create /users/$newuser writerspasswd $newuser
    passwd $newuser
    ditto /System/Library/UserTemplate/English.lproj /Users/$newuser
    chown -R $newuser:staff /Users/$newuser
    nicl . -read /users/$newuser
    if [ "$is_admin" = Y -o "$is_admin" = y ]
    then
    nicl . -append /groups/wheel users $newuser
    nicl . -append /groups/admin users $newuser
    nicl . -read /groups/wheel
    nicl . -read /groups/admin
    fi
    also, when you're in SUM, you're root, so you can just type sh /etc/rc to start the necessary subsystems and install what you want.

  • UME Create user not  possible

    Portal 7.0 sp10 2004s
    ECC 6.0 sp 10  ERP 2005
    Portal is connected to ABAP backend for user authenticity,
    Data source configuration file is dataSourceConfiguration_abap.xml which should allow users created in the portal to be in the UME database only.
    Problem, When creating users on the Portal they are automatically being created with a datasource of ABAP and are created in the ECC abap backend.
    I have tried creating the users using the Visual Admin tool and it also created the users in the ECC abap backend
    I have in the past been able to create users in the UME only in fact I could not create Backend ABAP users from the POrtal
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Haydn
    Thanks for your suggestion, I am still having problems
    I changed the SAPJSF user that communicates from the portal to the abap backend to read only. I got an error, it is still trying to create an ABAP backend user
    An error occurred in the persistence. The original message (possibly not translated) was: "BAPI_USER_CREATE1@RS2CLNT100: ID=01, NUMBER=491, MESSAGE=You are not authorized to create users in group". Contact your system administrator
    From the SAP Note 718383 it states the following:
    Supported changes to the data source configuration
    The allowed change options depend on the currently active data source configuration. You can determine the current data source configuration with the J2EE ConfigTool.
    In "cluster-data -> Global server configuration -> services -> com.sap.security.core.ume.service" check the property "ume.persistence.data_source_configuration".
    Depending on the data source configuration file you use, the following changes are possible:
    dataSourceConfiguration_abap.xml
    No change is possible.
    This configuration supports all usages (especially SAP Exchange Infrastructure and SAP Enterprise Portal) by making ABAP users and ABAP roles available as users and groups in the UME, and supports the creation of new groups in the UME (which are then stored in the local database) as well.
    Any other suggestions would be appreciated,
    Thanks
    Sarah
