Is it possible to Default "Choose page source by PDF page size" option in the "Print" dialog box?
I have an SSRS report that is rendered as a PDF file; the report has many columns and utilizes 11inx17in (Landscape) paper. However, once the report is rendered and users try to print the report they have to manually select the 'Choose Paper source by PDF page size' option in order to get the report to print on the correct paper (otherwise it defaults to standard letter size - landscape orientation).
I'm aware of 'Print Presets' functionality; however, I don't believe they apply to this scenario. Is there a config file/registry setting/anything that can be specified to automatically set the 'Choose paper source by PDF page size' print setting = On/True/Checked?
Any help would be greatly appreciated...
Anybody out there?

Adobe Reader 11 "choose paper source by pdf page size" does not work
Hello,
I have a user that utilizes the "choose paper source by pdf page size" option when printing a PDFs. He has a PDF that has a letter sized page and a legal sized page.
I recently upgraded his Adobe Reader from 10 to 11 and now that option isn't working for him. The printer is an HP LaserJet M2727nf MFP.
Are their any bugs regarding that feature in the new Adobe Reader?
Thanks! If you have not updated Acrobat, try that before you go further. Currently AA9 is at 9.5.1.

Selecting "choose paper source by pdf page size" causes page to print as mirror image thumbnail
Printing from acrobat reader 9.3.4 to a bizhub C220 printer/copier using the postscript driver in XP sp3. when you select "choose paper source by pdf page size" the document prints mirror image as a tiny thumbnail in the corner of the page? We have replicated the problem with different computers and other copier/printers. This does not occur when using the PCL driver. Any ideas?
Do you not get any options after you have selected print
then select Print using System dialogue
which then opend another box , where I select Layout
and can select how I want the document printed.
As you can see I do use an Epson Printer though, but this is the way when using Mac OSX -
Acrobat 9 "Choose paper Source by PDF page size" prints as thumbnail
I have a customer who is trying to print a document that has different page sizes, eg. p.1 is 8 x 11, p.2 is 11 x 17. He can select the page size manually and everything works as expected. If you put a check mark in "Choose paper Source by PDF page size" it prints as backward thumbnails on 8 x 11. Selecting "print as image" makes it fill the page, but only prints on 8 x 11. Changing the printer driver to PCL did not fix, nor did installing an updated PS driver. All updates have been installed. I called tech support and they basically just gave me link to the script they use during troubleshooting. I also did a google search, but haven't come up with a valid answer. It is Acrobat 9 Standard on Win XP. Any advice is good advice.
It's a Windows only feature: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/332/332720.html#main_Mixed_sizes

I have created a pdf and then want to send it to my boss. When he recieves it it is saved in the 14 X 8.5 inches version. How can I saved it on my end as a 11 x 8.5 inch so he doesn't have to uncheck "Choose paper source by PDF page size"?
Hi heathers,
You would need to print the file to a new PDF with the appropriate page size.

Our former office printer (Xerox 7345) had no problem with this. But the new Xerox 7830 fails to obey the "Choose paper source by PDF page size" option in Acrobat Pro. Even the "Page Setup" is overridden by the Xerox printer driver. It is extremely annoying to have to go into the Xerox driver dialog every time, regardless of that check in the box and the correct dimensions being displayed in the picture.....
Unfortunately, not only does this not solve the problem with multi-page-size documents, but it's begun happening on files which are all one size as well, where that box isn't even checked.
It appears that what's happening is the newer versions of Adobe Acrobat don't play nicely with emulated postscript support past a certain date. We're replacing our Canon with a newer model that has actual postscript support, and if that resolves the issue I'll be certain to post confirmation here. Copies of Adobe Acrobat 7 and 8 in our office haven't seen this problem at all; it's simply everyone who has upgraded past that point that can't print reliably.
More news next week, after we get the new copier. -
Print by choosing paper source by PDF page size from MAC
I have an iMAC with Maverick OS. I am printing to both an HP 401 monochrome laser printer and an HP Laser Jet Pro CM1415fnw Color Printer. I receive .pdf files which contain both letter and legal sized pages. I know that I cannot print out letter and legal size pages by selecting "choose paper source by PDF page size" from my MAC. This does present a problem for me (and I'm sure many others). What I would like to know is 1) is there a way around this problem and 2) are there any plans for Adobe to address a resolution to this issue by fixing the option so that MAC users can achieve the same level of ease of print results as Window users? There is certainly a large segment of the population who are now MAC users. Thank you.
Thanks for the suggestion, Steve. I did go to that link and asked the same
information of Adobe directly. Their NB at the bottom of the page says
that due to the large number of questions asked and information requested,
they usually do NOT respond to the users. Too bad. How else are we
supposed to get valid info? I believe almost all the other software
vendors do have a contact location from which they will address user's
concerns and will contact you with some kind of info. Welcome to the new
world of customer service!! i.e., Go figure it out by yourself!!

Choose paper source by PDF page size not working
I have a document that I printed to the Adobe PDF printer that is 36x24 and enabled "Choose paper source by PDF page size". However, when it prints the size is 16.59x11.56 (A3). Has anyone else had this? I can print it properly by disabling the option and hard setting the size in the properties. I have co-worker that has no problem with this.
I have Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard and so does my co-worker.If you have not updated Acrobat, try that before you go further. Currently AA9 is at 9.5.1.

Printing multiple sizes from a PDF - Choose page source by PDF page size is set
I've tried this in both Reader 7 and 8.1. What I am experiencing is this:
A user is printing a document which has both legal and letter sized pages. I have selected Choose page source by PDF page size when printing. The document will print all pages based on the first page. If I print just one page, it will print correctly. The expected behavior would be to print each page on paper according to its page size. For example, if there is a PDF file with five pages, page one and two are letter size, page three is legal, and page four and five are letter. When I print all pages, the entire set prints as letter. Page three should print on legal. If I print just page three alone, it will print on legal.

'''I cannot and never have been, able to open a file that has been previously saved to hard disk by choosing the print to file option in the print dialogue box. Firefox displays gooblygook even though the file name is an html, Windows Notepad crashes, MS Excel does not recognise the file type. MS Word displays goobblys also when the file has no filename extension.'''
If you use print to file then you get a file that is meant to be send to a printer and that file has all kind of formatting code for that specific printer.
Opening such a file in Firefox or a text editor can only work if you use a text only printer to print the file to, so make sure that such a printer is installed and selected. -
Choose paper source by PDF page size
I print on different sizes of paper. I am trying to get this function to print to the correct tray on our printer, but it is not working. If I print out a legal or 11x17 size document with this option checked, it prints out on letter size paper with a tiny image in the upper left hand corner. Help, anybody? Being able to do this would save me quite a bit of time, instead of having to change the size in the printer properties every time.
A legal sized document should not be printing "in a tiny corner" of a
letter sized paper, no matter what combination of options are chosen.
It might print at the correct size, and be cut off, or be scaled down
to fit; these are the only two proper results.
So, this is probably the thing to fix first.
What happens if you explicitly choose legal sized paper in printer
setup and print the legal sized PDF files?

How to type selected pages in the Print dialog box
Hello,
I am using ID5 with Windows 7.
I need to provide sample pages on my web site of a book I wrote.
I pressed Ctrl-E, named the file, chose Adobe .pdf (Print), and then typed in all the pages:
Sec.1:1, ii-vii, Sec2:1, Sec2:20-23, Sec2:51, Sec2:72, Sec2:92, Sec2:100, Sec2:102, Sec2:116, Sec2:121, Sec2:150-156
These are an EXACT match to what's in the Pages panel, yet ID will not make the .pdf! I have tried typing the pages both with and without spaces in between, but am getting nowhere.
NOTE: The first entry correctly includes a period, unlike any of the other entries. The second entry correctly omits a section number, and the last page is indeed 156.
Can anyone see what I've done wrong?
I noticed today that site visitors are looking for this .pdf, which wasn't stored in my Media area as I thought, so I've got to get this done pronto because I'm losing sales!
Thank you!You can also set your General Preferences' Page Numbering View to Absolute and then you can enter absolute page numbers in the export dialog, which might be easier with complicated sections and prefixes.
The sections and prefixes are still there but for exporting and printing the pages become: -
Where can I set the default to be always "choose paper source by PDF page size".

Choose paper source by PDF page size is checked by default
How do I change this to be unchecked by default? I am using Adobe Reader X Version 10.1.8 on a Windows 7 Pro OS.
It should remember your last setting provided you print with it once (don't Cancel).
