Thank you Fadi. I am trying to reload DFFs using FNDLOAD utility from DEV instance to TEST instance. As the flexfields are already there, it does not appear to be reloading them (no error messages in the FNDLOAD log though), because I don't see the DFFs being updated with the latest changes.
So, I was thinking if I delete the existing ones, maybe it will reload correctly. But, if I cannot delete the existing DFFs, there is no way to get them corrected, other than manually doing it on the TEST environment.

FNDLOAD for Descriptive Flexfield update

Hey everyone,
Just wanted to consult you on a matter,
I've updated a descriptive flexfield definition (moved some of the segments from GLOBAL to a new context I created = I deleted from global, that freed the attributes again, and then I defined them under a new context field for that DFF).
Now - to move that setup to another instance, I download and uploaded DFF via FNDLOAD.
At first - update was not successful due to the fact that attributes used in new context were occupied by global.
So -
my idea was to just delete ALL DFF definitions in new instance, and then use FNDLOAD to upload.
Turned out ok, and update seems successful.
I just fear deleting DFF definitions completely might harm something and I feel I might be missing something here.
(After all, if it should be OK, why doesn't FNDLOAD delete old definition during update process and then create the new definition , like it does with personalizations??)
Would love to hear your ideas before I do the same on production instances...

I believe you should not delete a DFF, instead you will have to disable it.

Did you try to use UPLOAD_MODE=REPLACE? This option will replace your current values with the values you have in the file.
If you want to upload any new items in the file that do not currently exist in your database, use "CUSTOM_MODE=FORCE" option.

Descriptive flexfield balance needed

We are using R12 Apps
my problem is as follows:
Suppose there are 3 segments in a descriptive flexfield(DFF) and all contain numbers in it or you can say display certain amounts
Now in the fourth segment that i create in the same DFF, i need to display the total sum for the amounts in the first three DFF`s..is that possible

Descriptive Flexfield transfer from Requisition (iProcurement) to PO

Can a descriptive flexfield be transferred from iProcurement (requisition lines) to Purchase Order (lines)?
I am fairly new to Oracle EBS and this is my first attempt to set up descriptive flexfields. We want the user to populate the field while creating the requisition and would like that value to transfer to the purchase order. (we are on 11i)
Is this possible? Is there an option or setting that I need to be aware of?

Automatically populate a Descriptive FlexField with Default Value

I have 2 Descriptive flexfield segments defined, one is "Start Date" using value set "LS_START_DATE" and the other segment is "End Date" using value set "LS_END_DATE".
Now when I enter the "Start Date", I want the "End Date" to be populated automatically with the value of "Start Date + 365 days".
For example:
If I enter "Start Date" = 25-May-2010
Then "End Date" should be automatically populated with the value "25-May-2011" (i.e., Start Date + 1 year)
Is that possible ?
I tried defining "End Date" segment with "Default Type" as "SQL Statement" and Default Value as "SELECT :$FLEX$.Start Date+365 from dual" , but it's not working.
Can someone please help ?

I did, the value set created for this segment "Start Date" is "LS_START_DATE" and I changed the sql statement in Default Value to "SELECT :$FLEX$.LS_START_DATE+365 from dual" , but still it is not working ....no luck.

KEPM - Delete file description

Hi all,
I'm trying to upload a file, but in KE13N says that description doesn't exist, when I saved it from KEPM before uploading.
Anyone knows how to delete that description?? I wanna start the proccess again to avoid possible mistakes.

You execute the Planning Method, it would take you to the Excel front end. There Click on Setting
->Formatting
It would give the file name " " has been Generated. Now you can see
Generic File
Save the file description
Save excel layout.
If you want to change the file description, provide the name in Generic File, and then click Save the file description, you can have the new file description that you can provide in KE13n.

I had a drive crash, restored the files to a new drive, and now the old versions and the new versions of the files are both backed up, taking up a mountain of drive space. Hi, I need help in a related problem. I have 500gb time capsule. I needed larger hard drive, so I now use TM to back up to a different 1tb hard drive. So I don't need the TC as a TM back up device. But I want to use the TC's hard drive as an extra external hard drive. I deleted the files that were on it. but it still shows it has a sparsebundle file with a size of over 400gb ( probably the size of the old backups). When I use disk utility to try to erase it, I am not offered the erase tab. This "disk" does show on the desk top as a mounted disk (I think) with only 53 gb free. How can I set this up so all the disk space is free and I can use it for storing files, not as a back up? Thanks

I can't connect to my MacBook becaus it won't boot. Then my iPad says I need to delete some stuff to be able to download any.thing. I know I have room but is it possible to delete without connecting?

I can't connect to my MacBook because I can't get THAT to start. It just sits in it's blue screen With the apple, spinning it's gear. All this happened after I used mackeeper. You can hide them via your computer's iTunes : iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases - Apple Support
The 'x' might not show on their top left corner (it might be invisible), but clicking where it should be should hide the app.

Creation of Descriptive FlexField on Supplier

Hello,
I am trying to add a new segment under context "Global Data Elements" of a DFF.
Currently this context has two segments referring to columns ATTRIBUTE1 adn ATTRIBUTE2
In the Segments Summary screen, when I try to select the Descriptive Flexfield column of which I believe it is available (ATTRIBUTE3), I can only select the column "ATTRIBUTE_CATEGORY".
EBS R12
application = Purchasing
title = vendors
table = PO_VENDORS
Does anyone has any hints? What am I doing / thinking wrong?

Attributes might have been used in another DFF. Run the below query to check if other columns are used in another DFF.

We have enabled context sensitive DFF in Bank Branch Page for HZ_PARTIES DFF , We have created Flex Map so that only bank branch context fields are only displayed in the bank branch page and as we know party information DFF is shared by supplier and Customer Page so we dint want to see any Bank Branch fields or context information in those pages.
We have achieved the requirement but when open existing branches bank branch update is throwing below error message :
"The value in flexfield context reference web bean does not match with the value in the context of the Descriptive flexfield web bean BranchDescFlex. If this in not intended, please go back to correct the data or contact your Systems Administrator for assistance."
this error is thrown only when we open existing branches, if we save existing branch and open then it is not throwing any error message.
Please let us know reason behind this error message.
