  • Iphone 4 recieves my brothers iphone 3gs messages when sent via imessage

My iphone 4 recieves my brothers iphone 3gs messages when sent via imessage. When he texts me, his name comes through as my email address. I think this could be because we both have the same itunes account. not all messages my brother sends i recieve but i would just like this sorted out. please help!

Sounds like you signed up the same account for iMessages or the same phone number was added to iMessages.
    Go into SETTINGS/MESSAGES/SEND & RECEIVE
That is the list of numbers and email addresses that the phones will receive iMessages for. Remove the duplicates that you might see between the two phones. Also make sure that the Apple ID at the top is not the same.

  • How to delete atomically unread messages Mail Maverick?

I received a ton of emails and I will like to know step by step if is a way to delete unread messages completly for good in automatic way if let say I haven't read the email in 3 days?.....
    thanks in advance.

You could make a rule up...
Select "Date Received" then "is greater than" "3" days old.
    Perform the following actions:
    "Mark as Read".
I know that isn't the answer you are looking for. But I do see an ability to run an AppleScript. Maybe someone knows how to create one that will say "if message is unread, delete it."

  • Deleting Multiple (unread) messages aka Mouse Misbehaving

I am running the latest version of Leopard and Mail on my G5. I noticed that after activating Mobile Me that when I read mail and delete a message, that the one above (not read yet) also deletes. I then have to go to Edit > Undelete to get my unread message back. Thinking it might have been a Mobile Me issue, I stopped syncing Mail and have only the calendar in sync mode. That did not solve the issue.
Don't know if it is related, but I also note that with multiple windows open, when I reposition a window by grabbing the header, the window minimizes instead of letting me drag it to its new location.
I have not changed the mouse, no third party software etc.

        moransl88,
Thanks for reaching out to us. I can see how that can become annoying after awhile. I would like to see if we can help with getting you back on track. What kind of device do you have? Please keep us posted.

  • HT201320 How do I delete the unread message number when I have no unread messages in my inbox?

I have a number attached to my mail folder which is 978unread messages, but I can't find any unread messages. How do I get rid of this number. Also I have over 1000 flagged messages but I have none. How do I delete these numbers.

In Mail Preferences/Accounts/each GMail account, set up the SMTP Outgoing Server for each account separately, going into SMTP name/edit/Advanced and specify the Username of each account.  The Outgoing servers must be two different servers, authenticated by the Username and Password of each.
Otherwise, the GMail SMTP server will change the from address to that of the account where the SMTP server was setup.

  • Is it possible to delete individual instant messag...

I understand how to go into tools and delete my entire instant messaging history, but can I delete individual text messages and, if so, how?

    No.
Deleting individual calls requires iOS 5, which is not compatible with the iPhone 3G.  The latest iOS for the iP3G is 4.2.1.

  • Text messages being sent as iMessages

Hi folks, My wife and I have a strange problem with our iPhone 5's where our SMS messages occasionally get sent as iMessages and as a result we never get them on our phones.
Background - We both have iPhone 5's, I have an iPad 3, she has an iPad 4. All software is the latest updates available. We live in a rural area so wifi is only really available at home and the occasional McDonald's, so the only time iMessage is of any real use is when we are at home and want to iMessage friends. This results in both the iPhone and the iPad informing us that we have an iMessage and quickly becomes annoying during an extended conversation so we have turned off iMessage on our phones and use it exclusively on our iPads.
The problem- on a few occasions in the last 2 weeks we have replied to a SMS message sent by one of us and the SMS reply has been sent as an iMessage. As a result it was not received until we return home and view the iPad. Now I understand that iMessages are supposed to be sent as SMS if the recipient is not able to receive an iMessage but NOT the other way around. It makes even less sense when you consider we both have iMessage turned off on our phones.
Once it occurs it can be ages before the system restores itself to work correctly as well. A few days ago I had returned home to discover the message my wife had sent and was puzzled as to how it happened. I turned off the iPads and checked that iMessage was still off on both our phones (it was). Yet all efforts to send me an SMS from her phone to my phone resulted in an iMessage, not an SMS, the SMS option was not available as it continually defaulted to iMessage. How is this possible?

iMessage does not require WiFi. It requires a data connection. Between iOS devices, if you have iMessage turned on, iMessage is the default. Do you, perchance, have cellular data turned off on your phones? That's the only reason I can think of that you wouldn't get iMessages on your phone outside of a WiFi connection. And yes, both devices will notify you of messages if you have notifications turned on on both. And yes, if your contact is messaging you from an iOS device and your iPad is on at home and your cellular data is turned off on your phone, the iPad would get the message.

  • You can't send SMS or text messages to a non-Apple phone (such as an Android, Windows, or BlackBerry phone), because the messages are sent as iMessage

You can't send SMS or text messages to a non-Apple phone (such as an Android, Windows, or BlackBerry phone), because the messages are sent as iMessage

Yes, you can. I do it many, many times a day. If you're trying to send a message to someone who used to have an iPhone and who didn't disable iMessage before switching phones, they will need to unregister their number with iMessage:
    https://selfsolve.apple.com/deregister-imessage
You also need to have SMS enabled with your carrier to send messages to non-iPhones.

  • Can't delete previous unread messages in hub pinch view via select previous (hold date line)

Happily running OS 10.2.1.2141 on my Z10 (STL100-3). I was thrilled to see the hub's Pinch Selection Criteria option in 10.2.1 but did not have the occasion to try it. Then this weekend, my mailbox got flooded with email notices from our alert system and I was facing having to delete hundreds of emails the old tedious way, multi-select each email one at a time and hit the delete option.  Well, that's when I tried to use the hub's new pinch selection option to "hide" my read messages. I then held the date line to select all the previous messages and hit the delete option which asked my if a really wanted to delete those messages. I confirmed by choice and poof! nothing happened. I tried several times to no avail, even trying with flagged messages. It looks like you can't delete messages while in Pinch Selection view if you select them via the Select previous (hold date line) method. It does work if you select/multi-select the messages manualy but what's the point then?....
So, unless i'm doing it wrong, this appears to be a bug.
    Regards,
    Francis.....

that should be the point of the pinch selection criteria and you're select by sender.... let's see if anyone can reproduce the "bug" on their handsets or better yet, BlackBerry confirms it's a bug or poor design......
when I pinch and hold a date bar, I get the trash can... do you not?
    fpaquin wrote:
Yup, that's the tedious way I've always used, ok for a few emails, unacceptable for hundreds of emails.....
Oh, yea for hundreds. Do you get hundreds each day you need to delete?
Once you get caught up on your deleting, then your daily upkeep should be a reasonable low effort.
    Anyways, that's how it works.
If you feel it is an OS issue... what OS are you on?

  • I turned off my iPhone 4 and it has deleted all my messages apart from my iMessages? How do I get them back?

My iPhone 4 began to not tell me when I would receive text messages, therefore I restarted my phone and when it turned back on all my messages where gone other than my iMessages? Also, in my storage it still says I have the amount of data usage for my texts as I had before they were deleted. How do I get them back?

It's a bit confusing for many people, but iTunes doesn't really store the contacts. It's just used as a conduit to third party contact programmes, such as Outlook on a PC. IF you were using Outlook (or a similar, supported programme) all is good.
If you were't using something like it, the contacts are gone.

  • Is there any way to delete / edit a message I sent...

I realized that yesterday I accidentally sent someone a message with private information in it.  Is there some way to delete or edit this message?
I'm not talking about deleting it on my computer.  I want to make it so the recipient cannot see it.  It has been over 60 minutes now, but I'm hoping that there's some way I can still change it.
    Thanks.

I have been quite accustomed to regular Skype. I was looking forward to at least the same functionality in the Business version, if not a few more features. I find it appalling that you cannot edit or delete previous messages sent. Regular Skype has done this for years! I imagine the "technical" issue is the interfacing with Outlook, whereby the conversation is stored there. But seriously... this is a conversation that is captured and referenced in Outlook, it should be correct. People make typographical errors or simply cross-post a message into the wrong channel. Not allowing a means to CORRECT the mistake is a serious flaw. MICROSOFT, please expedite this functionality. If there is some alternative means of achieving this, please identify it. I cannot use this Skype Business confidently without editing capability of sent messages.

  • How to stop messages being sent via iMessage?

    Hi
At the weekend my son accidentally dropped my iPhone 5 in the bath. It is totally fried, won't even power up. I'm using a Samsung that my friend has kindly lent me, but when my Mrs tries to send me a text from her iPhone it still wants to go via iMessage. I have tried disabling iMessage on my iPad, but it still persists. Nearly my whole family are using iPhones so this is a big problem. I am not able to get another iPhone until September when my contract is up.
any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Call AppleCare and ask them to deactivate iMessage for that phone number.

  • Wrong number of unread messages N9

One of POP3 accounts is misinformation about the number of unread messages. Where this information is stored and if we can change it.
I have 0 messages in this box, but in accounts screen in Fenix i have 1 unread. Some days ago i try to delete one unread message, but meanwhile my PC e-mail client just downloaded and deleted the message from server.
So i need to know where in OS is stored this information and, if possible, to change it.

Thanks for those thoughts BDAqua. I forgot to mention that I had done the usual disk repairs and permission repairs, and also trashed the Mail cache folder and EnvelopIndex file. I've even re-installed Mac OSX.4.11 Combo updater to no avail.
Here's another weird clue, as I realise it's occuring on all mailboxes:
I should preface this by saying that incoming mail gets routed via Mail rules to various mailboxes.
If I finish reading all the new mail in (say) my "Business" mailbox, its new mail indicator count disappears, as it should.
If I then click on my "Family" mailbox which might indicate 5 unread messages, the "Business" mailbox will then indicate 5 - it indicates whatever the unread number is in the mailbox I've just clicked on!
If I click back to "Business", Mail realises there are actually no unread messages and the count disappears again, but if I click back to "Family" it goes back up to 5 (or however many are unread in "Family" - or whichever mailbox I click on next.)
    Very odd.
