Is it possible to delete entire photo albums in iOS

iphone 5s / iOS8.1 - iMac / Yosemite
When i transfer important pictures from iPhone to Aperture I like to keep them on my phone until I know my Mac is backed up. Once backed up I want them off my phone.  However, as far as I can see, photos in iOS camera roll can only be deleted individually and right now I have about 6 albums with 800 pictures.. I don't want to delete them individually I want to delete the whole lot - am I missing something? Surely there should be a simple way to select and delete an album?
By the way, i am not talking about sync'd pictures here so it's not a case of deselecting sync'd albums in iTunes.
any ideas?

I haven't done it in a while but you may want to connect the phone to your Mac and open Image Capture on the Mac. I don't remember that it allows deleting by folder but if not it still would be faster than doing it one by one on the phone. The delete icon is at the lower left (red circle with line through it).

  • How to Delete Entire Photo Stream in iOS 6

Here's how to delete and reset the entire Photo Stream in iOS 6.
WARNING: This will delete all 1000 photos in your Stream so make sure you're ready to do this (by backing them up).
    Delete the Photo Stream
Note: You cannot have your device hooked up to a PC or Mac during this procedure.
In Settings, select "Photos & Camera" (in the left column on iPad).
(On the right in iPad) move the slider for "My Photo Stream" to Off.
It will ask you if you want to keep or delete your photos. Choose Delete.
If you're doing this on multiple devices, make sure to complete these three steps on each device before continuing.
You have successfully turned off and deleted the Photo Stream, but you're not done. Now you need to reset the Photos app so that it won't re-download the photos from iCloud if you choose to turn Photo Stream back on.
    Reset Photos App
Launch the multi-tasking App Tray. On most devices, press the home button twice.
Remove the Photos app from the App Tray, by holding down the Photos icon until the red X appears on the icon.
Press the red X. The icon will disappear from the App Tray.
You're done! Now, you may launch the Photos app from the home screen if you wish.
Turn Photo Stream Back On (Optional)
If you want to use the Photo Stream feature for future photos, you may turn the Photo Stream feature back on.
In Settings, select "Photos & Camera" (in the left column on iPad).
(On the right in iPad) move the slider for "My Photo Stream" to On.

I haven't done it in a while but you may want to connect the phone to your Mac and open Image Capture on the Mac. • Please tell me I can delete entire photo albums

Do I have to check 3,000 photos in an album one by one to delete them ?   GOD I hope not.

If they were synced from your computer then you can only delete them by moving/removing them from where they were synced from and then re-syncing.
If they were taken with the iPad, copied onto it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc then they can be deleted directly on the iPad - either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view. If you want to delete them all then if you use a PC you can connect to that and you should be able to delete them via windows explorer. If you use a Mac then I think that you can delete via iPhoto or Aperture after importing (not sure if there is a way to delete them on a Mac without going through the import process).

  • How do I delete an entire photo album from iPhone 6

What is the easiest way to delete an entire photo album from iPhone 6

Depends on the album and how it got there.
If it is an album that you sync'd to the device, you would remove it the same way - by hooking up the device to sync, de-selecting the album in the Photos profile screen, and then syncing the device
If it is an album you created, you would need to manually delete the album itself by clicking on Edit from the main display and then clicking on the minus sign to delete the album. This does not delete the photos in the album, however. If you want the photos deleted, you have to select them and then delete them manually.
Camera Roll photos will ask if you want to delete them when you import the Camera Roll to a computer.
Photo Stream photos are either deleted manually, or you can turn off Photo Stream altogether to remove Photo Stream from your device.
    Cheers,

    No.

Is it possible to share an entire photo album from my iPad on Facebook? I can share photos one at a time, but cannot figure it how to share an entire album.

Not direct with the FaceBook app, but there are some 3rd party photo uploading apps that work in conjunction with FaceBook allowing the upload of multiple photos at once. Check an app named iLoader for this.

  • How can I delete a photo album from my IPad?

How can I delete a photo album from my I Pad?

You can turn off photo stream via Settings > iCloud > Photo Stream 'off' , I don't think that it is possible to remove individual photo stream photos. From http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4486 :
Individual photos cannot be deleted from your Photo Stream. You can, however, delete all the photos in your Photo Stream by clicking the Reset Photo Stream button in your account at icloud.com. The Reset Photo Stream button will instantly delete all Photo Stream photos stored in iCloud, but it will not remove any Photo Stream photos that have already been pushed to your devices.
After deleting the photos from your Photo Stream in iCloud, you can remove the Photo Stream photos from your devices as follows:
On your iOS devices, go to Settings > iCloud > Photo Stream and turn Photo Stream off. This will delete all the photos from your Photo Stream album. If there are any photos you want to keep on your device, make sure to add them to an album or save them to your Camera Roll first.

  • How can i delete a photo album that has been synced from another computer

I am trying to delete a photo album that I do not need anymore from an iPad 4. But the album has been synced from a computer that I don't have access to anymore. Is there anyway around this ?

Photos that were synced from a computer can only be deleted by connecting to a computer's iTunes and changing the sync selection on the device's Photos tab.
Is that the only album that was synced from that computer (and you now sync the iPad to a different computer ?), or do you have other albums from it that you want to keep on the iPad ? If you want to keep one or more albums on it then they will need to be on the computer that you sync to so that they can be selected on the Photos tab and re-copied to the iPad from that computer. If you want to remove all synced photos then try selecting and syncing just an empty folder

  • How do i delete a photo album sent from my pc from my iphone 5c

this website is useless, talk about being led a merry dance by apple!
All I want to know is how the **** do i delete a photo album (sent from my pc) from my iphone 5c....how hard can it be to find out??????

    Cheers Chris,
I was not being disrespectful to the forum, I was however doing so to Apple and their usless customer service, technical support, website that takes you round and round in circles and total lack of contact us facility (unless you live in the US).
Everywhere I go they want me to log in AGAIN and AGAIN and then they send stupid messsages to my phone that do nothing unlike they tell me. For something so simple it has taken days and I mean days for them to even let me find how to post the message asking for help and as for my local Apple store....don't get me started as they didn't know how to do it.
It's not very well explained anywhere and I have done it by default following your reply so thanks. They go on about being a super company but ask them directly for help and nothing. In all honesty when I go to itunes it doesn't show you any way to remove such albums and all I can see is the sync thing that says what do I want to sync...I did it by syncing an empty folder from my pc, shouldn't be that hidden and un-explained.
Cheers again and apologies if you thought I was being rude.

    i did turn off streaming.

I've heard that it can be done and then something about syncing...no idea how to sync either....only that when I hook up the cord to the computer, my iPhone 4 dings...
i need basic step by step...and alot of patience! thanks
I have iO7 something, which I'm really not fond of either....any way after the photo/album deleting...I'd like to find out how to get rid of this update

Assuming you are using iTunes 11.1:
Connect your iPhone to your computer.
In iTunes towards the upper right of your screen you will see the name of your iPhone. Click on it (not the eject symbol.
This will open a series of windows with tabs.
    Select the tab for photos.
Untick the ones you do not want on your iPhone and at the bottom right click on Apply.
    They will be removed.

  • How do you delete a photo album on new iPad?

Need help to delete a photo album.   Also, is there a way to easily select more than one but less than all photos in an album?

Why is a post pc device dependent on a pc to erase images?
In the case of photos it is not a question of the type of device, but of the application you are using. Both iPhoto and Photos app are applications that allow albums to be uploaded and mirrored from your Mac. If you do not want the mirroring, don't use this feature - use the Photos Stream to upload. Then you can delete.

How do I delete a photo album from the iPad?
I read somewhere that you should tap Edit and then tap the album. But that does not work. I have three albums, iPad will only let me delete the last one I created.

Only photos taken with the iPad, copied onto it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad - either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view. Photos that were synced from your computer are deleted by moving/removing/de-selecting them from where they were synced from on your computer and then re-syncing
