Is it possible to disable clicking a window to use?

This is a bit of a strange question, so I'm not sure where to find the answer.
When I'm developing a website often I have multiple applications open, let's say for example a .txt file and a browser. I want to move text content from the .txt to the browser and I need to do this many times. But each time I want to copy some content from my .txt file in need to click once to make it active, only then can I select the text and copy it. Now I need to click my browser to make it active and paste the content into an online form. I need to do this hundreds of times a day... I don't even know from a usability standpoint if this is possible but it would reduce the number of clicks i need to make by half if I didn't have to "activate" the window before working with it.
Has anyone come accross this before? and what are my possible solutions? maybe active on a mouseover, that would be pretty awesome i think but again i don't know anyone that has ever tried this.

  • HT3986 How do I right click on Windows installed using Bootcamp?

    How do I right click on Windows installed using Bootcamp?

    It should work the same way it does in OSX, but for it to work correctly, you need to install the Boot Camp drivers in Windows. You can do this by using the Boot Camp Assistant in OSX, then creating the "Windows support software (drivers)" package. Follow the instructions there, then use the resulting thumbdrive to install the drivers and apps into Windows. Then you should be able to two-finger-click the touchpad or right-click your mighty mouse or other two-button-enabled mouse.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4407 for more info on this.
    Caveat: I've done this, and I've found that the two-finger-click in Windows is iffy. That is, it frequently triggers a left-click function instead of right-click. :-/

  • Is it possible to disable DHCP on Airport when using PPPoE?

    Hi,
    I wish to use the Airport to dial PPPoE and act as a router but I want it to use a static IP address and use my DHCP server.
    Is it possible to set this up?
    Currently the router mode option is set to "NAT and DHCP" but is greyed out so that I cannot change it..

    Sorry, but it is not possible to do what you ask when the AirPort is configured to connect using PPPoE settings.

  • Disable clicking on subreport in Crystal Reports Viewer

    Hi,
    To describe the situation, the report has 2 subreprts in the Report Header. When users click on any of those subreports in the Reports Viewer, the report closes and is back to the Parameter selection window.
    Does anyone know how to prevent this? Is it possible to disable clicking on the subreport in the Viewer? Or lock the whole content? Disable clicks on the Viewer?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Is it possible to disable a Sequence?

    Is it possible to disable a sequence. In the documentation below i can't find an option to disable a sequence.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14200/statements_2011.htm#SQLRF00817

    Is it possible to disable a sequenceHow are you using the sequence ? Sequences are often used to populate/update columns when inserting/updating rows. If so, and assuming you can "disable" the sequence, what happens at the next insert/update ?
    Anyway, if "disable" has the same meaning as disable a trigger or a constraint, then no, that's not possible.

  • Is there a way to disable the Facetime camera and use an external USB webcam for browser based webchat?

    Is it possible to disable the Facetime camera and use an external webcam as a default? So that when you access browser based applications that require a webcam it doesnt default to the Facetime camera but uses the USB webcam instead?
    Cheers.

    (1) You don't need to "disable" anything to select among cameras connected to your Mac.
    For all cameras you access via browser based applications (cameras connect via Flash browser plugins), control-click on an open video window in your browser page and adjust the camera settings to select between a connected USB and Firewire video camera.  Specific instructions are here:
       http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/help04.html
    If you don't see a choices of cameras in the Flash settings, your Mac is only recognizing one camera.  Verify that your external cam is Mac-compatible and properly connected.
    Your choice is stored in preferences so the same camera will activate on the next browser page until you change it.
    (2) BTW, a current (Feb 2013) discussion of how to select among connected Mac cameras for a few more apps is available here:  http://discussions.apple.com/message/21158673#21158673

  • How to prevent people asking how to prevent "click to activate and use this control"

    When I visit the fourms, I keep seeing these questions about
    how to disable
    "click to activate and use this control". Its really annoying
    and
    disrupting my web experience. I do know this really this is a
    blatant
    attack on Adobe and Flash by Microsoft and is obviously
    related to the Adobe
    takeover of Macromedia, and probably also related to the fact
    that it is now
    impossible for anyone to install Flash Player (which Adobe is
    ignoring
    because their support is so useless since the takeover). Is
    there something
    I can do to prevent these questions being posted? I've
    searched all the

  • Is it possible to disable title bar double clicking response?

    Hello,
    I run apps under the Wine simulator and for some reason double clicks inside the window are registering as title bar double clicks *and* application clicks, causing the window to go full screen (or to collapse to the dock if that setting is enabled) as well as the expected behavior of selecting what I clicked.
    Plus, I find the double click title bar action to be annoying and would like to disable it in general.
    Its it even possible to disable this?
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the reply, Lanny.
    Unfortunately, that just reverses the problem for me...
    If the option is checked, the app will minimize if I double click in the window body
    If the option is un-checked, the app will go full screen if I double click in the window body
    I'd like to prevent any action when double clicking the title bar, if possible.

  • W520 & Windows 8 - Is it possible to disable the Caps Lock Key?

    Hello All:
    I have a W520 running the 64 bit Window 8 Pro OS.
    Does anyone know if it is possible to disable the CAPS LOCK key on the ThinkPad keyboard?  I keep hitting this key by mistake (fat fingers, I guess) when using the laptop keyboard, and it is a PITA.
    When I have the W520 docked and I am using an external (Microsoft hardware) keyboard, I can disable the CAPS LOCK key on the external keyboard using Microsoft's keyboard control panel application.  But, this application doesn't appear to support disabling the CAPS LOCK key on the keyboard embedded in the W520.
    All suggestions will be gratefully received.
    Michael
    W520 (4270 CTO), which replaced a W500 (4062-27U), which replaced a T42P, which replaced an A21P...

    You cant technically disable it, BUT you can go to settings>General>Auto Lock - Never
    The screen will never dim and you wont have to slide to unlock - but keep in mind this will drain the battery much faster since the back light is constantly on.

  • Kindly Is it possible to disable DHCP in this product wap4400n ?

    Dear Engineers and Technicin,
    Good Morning,
    Kindly I need support for wap4400n and I did not find it in the user guide and the administration guid.
    Is it possible to disable DHCP in this product?
    I want the wap4400n Access Point to distribute DHCP from the windows server.
    Best regards,
    Asad
    Refrence:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps10052/index.html

    I dunno the product, but I might be this ...
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/csbap/wap4410n/administration/guide/WAP4410N_Admin_Guide.pdf
    page 25 ...
    STEP 1 Click Setup  > Basic Setup .
    STEP  2 From the IP Settings  drop-down menu, select one of the following options:
    • Static IP Address—Select this option to assign a static or fixed IP address
    to the access point.
    • Automatic Configuration—Select this option to automatically configure
    the IPv4 network settings of the access point using a DHCP server on your
    network. Also select this option to automatically configure the IPv6 network
    settings of the access point using an IPv6 RADVD device enabled on your
    network.
    But i think it is just a brigde, hence your DHCP server is external to the device.
    So you have nothing to disable so to speak:
    From the Frequently Asked Questions, in the above PDF:
    Q. Can the access point act as my DHCP Server?
    No. The access point is nothing more than a wireless hub, and as such
    cannot be configured to handle DHCP capabilities.

    I hate this two finger scrolling nonsense, I find it counter-intuitive and obnoxious (if I wanted Mac interface, I'd've bought a Mac, you guys!). Is it possible to disable it and use the normal, common sense single finger scrolling that I know, love, and desperately want to return to?

  • Is it possible to disable or erase "recents" in share menu?

    Is it possible to disable or erase "recents" in share menu?  Thank you!

    In the top menu bar, where is says:      Finder   File   Edit   View   Go   Windows   Help
    Click on the Go, and in the same time click the option key on your keyboard near the space bar.  In that the drop down menu list the word Library will appear.
    Click on Library and Finder will open, look for the Preferences folder. Within that folder which should be in alphabetical order look for the file named, com.apple.sharekit.recents.plist
    Drag that file out of finder and unto your desktop. Close out the Finder window and close out all other your applications, including Safari, and reboot your Mac and once it turns on, reopen Safari and look at your share sheet. Any recents should be gone. That file named com.apple.sharekit.recents.plist will recreate itself on a clean slate in that folder. Should you encounter that you shared something again to a contact with Safari's share sheet, be sure to follow the same directions.

  • Automator - How do I: Mouse Click, Move Windows, and more

    Hello,
    I am attempting to create my own Automator programs and for a while I had some that worked nicely. I have recently been tweaking my iMac so that it can "think" on its own (by automator of course) and do things for me. However, I've run across a block with Mavericks (I believe it's due to Mavericks).
    1. How can I get Automator to register a mouse click? "Watch me do" does not seem to want to work for me at all. I also would prefer if it would just be a registered mouse click, but not actually use the mouse (I know this is possible) so that if I'm doing something and it runs, it won't disturb my mouse and I can keep working.
    2. How can I register a keyboard stroke? Same as above
    3. How can I have automator move windows? I have two monitors and there are times when I may want it to move a window from one mintor to another
    The following is a list of all the things I'm attempting to accomplish at the moment (with other things when I think of them) with automator (either through applications, folder actions, or ical actions):
    1. Register a mouse click at a given area or on a given element in a safari page
    2. Register a keyboard stroke in a given program (be able to focus on a program and then do the keystroke)
    3. Move windows from one location to another
    4. Full-screen and Un-full-screen iTunes at certain times of day
    5. Download all purchased items on iTunes that aren't on the computer (sometimes iTunes doesn't download stuff if it was downloaded on my MacBook Pro first)
    6. Automatically voice read reminders (that I've set in Reminders) each day at a given time (I can use loop to repeat it to make sure I hear it all)
    I'll think of more of course, but the mouse click, keyboard stroke, and moving windows is the big thing I'm trying to figure out how to do. Can anyone help?
    Also, I am not a computer tech. I am tinkering with this because it's fun and helpful, but an answer of "just use applescript" or "just use java" will likely just give me a headache. I know that it's going to be one of those codes, but I'm hoping someone has a "base" code that can be copied and pasted that's just a standard click that I can adjust for where I need to click and what process I need to click on.
    If there is an Action Pack that includes a "Register Mouse Click" and/or "Register Keyboard Stroke", then that would work great, but the only action packs for automator I've seen that work with Mavericks is for photoshop.

    You're asking for a lot in one post.  It would be better to break your requests down a bit.
    For example, to deal with mouse clicks, you can use the Automator Action Run Shell Script with this python script:
    import sys
    import time
    from Quartz.CoreGraphics import *
    def mouseEvent(type, posx, posy):
            theEvent = CGEventCreateMouseEvent(None, type, (posx,posy), kCGMouseButtonLeft)
            CGEventPost(kCGHIDEventTap, theEvent)
    def mousemove(posx,posy):
            mouseEvent(kCGEventMouseMoved, posx,posy);
    def mouseclick(posx,posy):
            mouseEvent(kCGEventLeftMouseDown, posx,posy);
            mouseEvent(kCGEventLeftMouseUp, posx,posy);
    ourEvent = CGEventCreate(None);
    # Save current mouse position
    currentpos=CGEventGetLocation(ourEvent);
    # Click the "Apple"
    mouseclick(25, 5);
    # 1 second delay
    time.sleep(1);
    # Restore mouse position
    mousemove(int(currentpos.x),int(currentpos.y))
    It will look like this in Automator:
    To drag something (i.e. a window, a file icon) from position 40,60 to 60,300:
    import time
    from Quartz.CoreGraphics import *
    def mouseEvent(type, posx, posy):
               theEvent = CGEventCreateMouseEvent(None, type, (posx,posy), kCGMouseButtonLeft)
               CGEventPost(kCGHIDEventTap, theEvent)
    def mousemove(posx,posy):
               mouseEvent(kCGEventMouseMoved, posx,posy);
    def mouseclickdn(posx,posy):
               mouseEvent(kCGEventLeftMouseDown, posx,posy);
    def mouseclickup(posx,posy):
               mouseEvent(kCGEventLeftMouseUp, posx,posy);
    def mousedrag(posx,posy):
               mouseEvent(kCGEventLeftMouseDragged, posx,posy);
    ourEvent = CGEventCreate(None);
    # Save current mouse position
    currentpos=CGEventGetLocation(ourEvent);
    # move mouse to upper left of screen
    mouseclickdn(40, 60);
    # drag icon to new location
    mousedrag(60, 300);
    # release mouse
    mouseclickup(60, 300);
    # necessary delay
    time.sleep(1);
    # return mouse to start positon
    mouseclickdn(int(currentpos.x),int(currentpos.y));
    For keystokes in AppleScript (which can be added to Automator with the Run Applescript Action) see: http://dougscripts.com/itunes/itinfo/keycodes.php

  • Possible to disable crtl+alt+del button on HP Slate 500?

    Hello
    I was wondering if it is even possible to disable the crtl+alt+del button on HP Slate 500? As my company has me reviewing the unit to be possibly used within our company but one of the requirements is to be able to lock the tablet down. And one of the things they want is to prevent people from being able to use the crtl+alt+del to access task manager since the plan is to lock windows to one open application. But I can't see any settings in the bios to disable that button. And there are no oblivious options I can find on the Slate and the button does not appear to be controlled by a priority HP software product. The only other way I could think of doing it would be to somehow disable it from the registry.?

    This can be done using the Pro version or higher of windows 7, using gpedit and/or administrative templates you can control everything a user account can do or not do.
    gpedit.msc in a run command opens the group policy editor
