Is it possible to disable raid without reformatting?

I'm currently running 2 Seagates in RAID striping mode (raid 0?), but I'm having some issues with my second HD, which is smaller and older than the MAIN drive. Is it possible to disable RAID, and go back to normal mode (C: and D: drive) without doing a complete reformat or losing anything that's already installed on the HD's? Thanks for any help
i'm using a k8n Neo2 Plat.

It depends on how much spare space you have on both drives - if the total data is significantly less than the smaller of the two drives what you could try is to use Raid manager to Convert the striping array to a mirror which would give two drives with identical content.  I haven't tried this but it should work AFAIK.  OTOH, it's probably better to do a backup anyway.

  • Changing AHCI interface to RAID without reformat

    I've read many places that you cannot change your hard drive interface to run in RAID after already installing Windows 7 in IDE or AHCI format without having to erase everything and reformat Windows - however Gigabyte's  motherboard has a 3 click feature which works in Windows 7 and I read an edit to the Regedit that might work also
    This is to allow me to use SRT and then Intel Rapid Storage to allow my SSD drive to work as cache for my main HDD in RAID format.
    I have a MSI Z68A-GD65 (B3) Motherboard and i5 Intel cpu.  I don't know if its safe to try to change the system and if it doesn't work I would like assurances it can be corrected if anyone knows about this.
    It would be easier if MSI did a BIOS upgrade that supported this feature Gigabyte have on their mobos.  BTW, my BIOS is the original that came with it in 2011.
    PS: Click BIOS which is a BIOS editor in Windows MSI provide allows to change your IDE AHCI setting to RAID, but is it that simple?  Screenshot provided
    Thanks for any advice.

    Hi all you need to do is in under Regedit go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\iaStorV, in right tab right click on start and select modify set 0 instead of 3. Restart your system and enter Bios and select Raid instead of AHCI save exit. When you next boot onto Windows wait a bit you will be prompted to restart your system, if not you will have probably to reinstall Intel Rapid Storage.

    Come on! Could you tell me any professional application, that discards all your work after you have pressed just one key?…
    Any application, whether professional or otherwise, that uses modal dialog boxes follows the universal convention where the Escape key equals hitting the CANCEL button in the modal dialog box.
    Remember that ACR is just a plug-in, and the way that plug-in is designed is to work through a single modal box with multiple tabs and settings.
    Petrbr9 wrote:
    …In some applications Esc is rolling out the last action but not the whole work…
    …and there is your answer: until you hit either Done, Open or Save in the ACR modal dialog box, you have not applied any action to your work at all, you have just been looking at the preview when you manipulate the sliders and fields in the various tabs.
    It's no different than calling up a filter in Photoshop, say a noise-reduction filter, and hitting the Escape key before applying the settings to the image after fiddling with the sliders.
    My advice remains to keep in mind ACR is a modal dialog box and stop hitting the Escape key before applying your settings to the image.  It is that simple.  After all, the darned Escape key is physically located way out in the back of left field on the keyboard for that reason.

    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
  • Is it possible to disable the OAWebBeanConstants.IGNORE_MESSAGES
    {                  OAMessageTextInputBean bi = (OAMessageTextInputBean)webBean.findIndexedChildRecursive("BI") ;
    System.out.println("BI"+bi.getValue(pageContext));
    if ((bi.getValue(pageContext)) != null)
    null,
    false, // Retain AM
    OAWebBeanConstants.ADD_BREAD_CRUMB_YES,
    OAWebBeanConstants.IGNORE_MESSAGES);
    System.out.println( "PM");
    OAApplicationModule am = (OAApplicationModule)pageContext.getApplicationModule(webBean);
    String paramPR = prnum2;
    Serializable paramPRParamList[] = { paramPR};
    am.invokeMethod("paidManuallyUpdate", paramPRParamList);
    System.out.println( " THE VALUE OF THE Cancel RB IS " + canx.getValue(pageContext));
    prnum1.setValue(pageContext, "");
    pReason1.setValue(pageContext , "");
    //either one of these confirmations will work . i use one or the other
    throw new OAException("Payment Has Been Updated To Paid Manually", OAException.CONFIRMATION);
    //or
    OAException msg = new OAException("Updated To Paid Manually", OAException.CONFIRMATION);
    pageContext.putDialogMessage(msg);
    the problem is if i include the setForwardURL my confirm messages dont work. if i dont include the setForward they work.
    is there a way to do the setForwars so i can redirect the page and make the table inactive and also use the confimations. i can see its going past my system.prints. it just isnt popping up my confirmations as i believe its due to the IGNORE_MESSAGES.
    any insight ....
    cheers.
    Hi,
    SetForward*()...It lets the current page processing complete. Your following code will complete its processing, after that it will be forwarded to next page.
    ForwardImmediately.... Forwards immediately without letting remaining code process.
    However, a good thing is pageContext of the same page is forwarded. That means, if you did pageContext.putDialog(message), in current page, that will be forwarded in both the cases to next page. Hence, for your problem...
    use putDialog method, as stated in previous post and
    use forward url as CONFIRMATION, NOT AS ERROR OR IGNORE_MESSAGE.
    pageContext.setForwardURLToCurrentPage(//"OA.jsp?page=/oracle/apps/ap/MainPG",
    null,
    false, // Retain AM
    OAWebBeanConstants.ADD_BREAD_CRUMB_YES,
    OAException.CONFIRMATION); //WHAT YOU HAVE PUT IN DIALOGS AND WANT TO SHOW IS CONFIRMATION.
    Please try this.
  • Feature Request: Option to Quit via "X" and Disable Autostart Without Logging In
    To elaborate on the subject for the DEVs, I would like to request the ability to quit the application quickly or even the option to do so in the settings. Also, I would like to be able to disable autostart without having to log in. I don't use Skype all the time and the accumulation of applications running in the background becomes cumbersome on systems as many other applications each have similar issues of "closing to system tray" or running in the background.
    You might be able to get where you want using Chaotic Software's MediaRage. It can automate and batch tag editing, including building a Title tag that combines Artist and Title and, to possibly address you other problem, blanking the Artist tag.
    MediaRage is not expensive and it is very powerful, you can even define regexs for how to parse tags.
  • Changing the NTFS Allocation for win2012R2 VM with or without reformatting
    Hi community
    Benjamin Niaulin has written an excellent article on maximising the performance of SharePoint 2013 on a VM. Now one of the major improvements
    it increase the NTFS Allocation size as this will make SQLServer have few reads .. Ok but since my vm is set at the default 4K, how can I quickly accomplish this without reformatting or do I have to perform a windows backup, reformat or recreate the VM with
    the new allocation size.
    Daniel
    Freelance consultant
    Hi Daniel,
    "By default, the maximum cluster size for NTFS under Windows NT 4.0 and later versions of Windows is 4 kilobytes (KB). This is because NTFS file compression is not possible on drives that have a larger cluster size. The format command won't use clusters
    larger than 4 KB unless the user specifically overrides the default settings. You can do this by using the /A: switch together with the Format command or by specifying a larger cluster size in the Format dialog box in Windows Explorer. "
    So , you need to reformat the volume .
  • Is it Possible to Disable Screensets in Logic Pro 8?
    One of the disconcerting things about working with Logic Pro 8 is that, if you are trying to entire a number--perhaps in a note list--and you don't have the right field selected, Logic reacts as if you're trying to change Screensets.
    I'd like to be able to do a lot of numerical entry without accidentally changing Screensets.
    Is it possible to disable the number--screenset correspondence altogether?
    I try to delete the Screensets, but Logic keeps making them.
    I'd like to be able to hit the numerical keys, and have nothing happen if I'm in the wrong box.
    Possible? Yes? No?
    It doesn't delete it if I hit delete in the Screenset window.
    I figure you must mean the Key Commands window. There are a bunch of commands called Recall Screenset 1 etc. So you can delete the assigned keystroke for all of these except one (I guess Recall Screenset 1)? That's strange. Here it works fine. I can delete all of the assigned keystrokes for all of the Recall Screenset key commands.
    It might be a L8 vs. L9 thing. Or there might be a problem with your preferences file. You could try a fresh one. (If you want to do that and don't know how, just ask.)
    Or maybe the easiest thing is this. Instead of trying to delete that last assigned keystroke, why not just change it? You can change it to any keystroke that's currently unassigned, and that you don't expect to need for some other purpose, and that you don't expect to press by accident. An easy choice would be, say, option-1. I know that by default this keystroke is unassigned. And someday you might actually want to invoke the Recall Screenset 1 command, and option-1 would be a logical way to do that. (And you could also assign option-2 to Recall Screenset 2, and so on.)
    Does that make sense? Let us know how it works out.
    Keep in mind that the result is not exactly that the keystroke (say, 1) will be entirely ignored. The screen will flash. But probably this is OK with you, and certainly better than what happens now.
    By the way, I think Pianoteq is great.
  • Is it possible to highlight text without a pop-up  being made in Acrobat XI?
    I am trying to figure out if its possible to highlight text without a pop-up being made as I am using the highlighter tool to just mark  important information for quizzes and do not need a pop-up made each time I highlight! Is there a way to disable pop-ups being created? Thank you for your time.
    Thanks for your reply Dave, but I want to know if a pop-up has to be created internally when highlighting. Can you disable to sticky note part of the highlight?
    Here's an example: I highlight my college books and don't need all those pop-ups being made behind the scenes. In Acrobat X, all of my highlights would slow down the program immensely,
    thankfully in XI, it doesn't happen at all, nor do I want it to in the future. Thank you for your time.
  • Back up to an external HD without reformatting the drive
    I've got an iBook G4, running MacOSX/ Tiger,for three years now, and it's doing extremely great, but something tells me it's time for a back up. I have a WD Passport Essential 250GB connected with a power booster cable (dual usb) on both usb ports with my iTunes Library and my Home folder in it (approximately 60GB). Nothing is in my Macintosh HD apart from what is necessary; System Folder,apps,Library etc., some photos and audio files. Now what I am thinking is, in short, to back up what is left in my Macintosh HD, so as to be able to restore it (applications etc.), in case something goes horrible wrong, but without having to reformat my Ex.HD (already formatted in HFS) due to lack of other external drive. (I understand there might be some issues related to my external drive not having a firewire). I've looked in a few forums but none of them matches exactly my case so I basically need some instructions on how to do that, if it is possible at all (apparently it is possible to add a volume in a drive without reformatting in Leopard but that is as far as i know).
    Thank you for your time and reply
    ..I suspected it was going to be easy, but it's those times I really f*up :s !
    There is just a few more things I am not quite sure of yet: when you say internal drive I suppose you mean what appears in Disk Utility as Fujitsu not the MacintoshHD one (which I know as "boot drive") ?
    Plus, what kind of Image Format shall I use in my case?
    Any ideas and recommendations would be very much appreciated
    Thanks again!
