Is it possible to disable the track pad while typing?

I don't believe there is a way to do it natively.
However there is an app called BetterTouchTool which enables you to fully customize the trackpad. You could increase the sensitivities so that it doesn't activate while your typing.
Hope this helps.

  • Disable the Check Spelling While Typing feature in Stickies permanently

    hello. Each time I start up Stickies, I have to manually disable the Check Spelling While Typing feature anew. Stickies don't offer a preferences panel. Would there be any other way to permanently disable this?
    thanks

    ~Natalie,
    If you are referring to the Calendar>Edit>"Show Spelling and Grammar" pane, you may also want to check your System Preferences...>Keyboard>Text>"Correct spelling automatically" setting.

  • The track pad buttom not working

    Hey everyone,
     I have a BB curve, and for some reason the track pad  just stopped working. I am very gentle with my
    BB and I don not really understand what could possibly happened. It is completely frozen on the left up side of the screen on the " search" option ( the hand lenses icon).
    I already turned it off-on and I also removed the battery , and  it is still in the same position.
    I can receive calls, and make calls using the speed dial letter/pad. What can I do/try?
    Please help!!!
    Thanks in advance.

  • HT5815 Updated to 10.8.5 and now I cannot control my macbook pro with the track pad.  Any solutions?

    Like any other time, the App Store said there was a new update and asked if I wanted to update now.  I did.  Unfortunately, the update, after rebooting, has rendered the system unusable.  I can no longer control the system with the track pad.  The arrow is moving itself around the screen and the Launchpad periodically opens itself and gets locked in that mode.  I've rebooted, launched in safe mode, and zapped PRAM.  Nothing has changed.  I experienced the same thing in safe mode, no change.  Anyone else having these problems?  Not sure what to do next.

    There are several possible causes for this issue. Take each of the following steps until it's resolved.
    1. Follow the instructions in this support article, and also this one, if applicable.
    2. Open the Bluetooth preference pane in System Preferences and check for unknown or forgotten input devices. Disconnect any USB input devices that you aren't using.
    3. Boot in safe mode and test, preferably without launching any third-party applications. If you don't have the problem in safe mode, but it comes back when you reboot as usual, stop here and post your results. If you can't boot in safe mode, do the same. If you booted in safe mode and there was no change, go on to the next step.
    4. Reset the System Management Controller.
    5. If you're using a Bluetooth trackpad, investigate potential sources of interference, including USB 3 devices.
    6. A swollen battery in a MacBook Pro or Air can impinge on the trackpad from below and cause erratic behavior. If you have trouble clicking the trackpad, this is likely the reason. The battery must be replaced without delay.
    7. Some people have reported that they fixed a malfunctioning trackpad by pressing down on all four corners at once. I can't confirm, but it does no harm to try.
    8. There's a report that a (possibly defective) Thunderbolt Ethernet adapter can cause the built-in trackpad of a MacBook to  behave erratically. If you're using such an adapter, disconnect it and test.
    9. There's also a report of erratic cursor movements caused by an external display that was connected but not turned on.
    10. If none of the above applies, or if you have another reason to think that your computer is being remotely controlled, remove it from the network by turning off Wi-Fi (or your Wi-Fi access point), disconnecting from a Bluetooth network link, and unplugging the Ethernet cable or USB modem, whichever is applicable. If the cursor movements stop at once, you should suspect an intrusion.
    11. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine and/or external trackpad tested.

  • With snow leopard, basic keyboard functions like double clicking on a desktop item now require me to hold control and then click on the track pad.  I'm trying to recall, I seem to remember Leopard allowing you to double click items to open them?

    I notice in iPhoto that if I used to be able to single/double click on a photo to view it but now if I click CONTROL and then the TRACK PAD, the options don't allow me to open JUST that photo in nearly full page format.  Any suggestions?

    "nearly full page" means that I used to be able to double click on a photo in iPhoto, and it would open up to a full image within iPhoto itself.  Now, there is absolutely no option to enlarge a photo unless you go to slideshow - no option to double click or side click or Control+click or Command+click or anything at all.  The small white arrow at the bottom right corner of every photo gives you options, but none are options that include enlarging a photo to see it bigger.  And no, you cannot double click it at all to even open it up in any other app unless you click/drag onto desktop and then open in Photoshop, or equivalent app. Yes, checked TP preferences.  No, it doesn't help.

  • Is it possible to disable the 'edit layout' link on the record detail page

    Is it possible to disable the 'edit layout' link on the record detail page? Not the homepages, I know there is a switch for that, but I thought there was one for the detail pages?
    I want to disable this as I dont want users saving their own layouts, they must stick to the related sections defined in the default layout. The problem is that if they are to have access to certain related lists when an opportunity is of a certain type but NOT other types. If they have saved the layout (using the 'Edit Layout' link), and change the record type, they will see related sections that have been set to 'Not available' in the default layout (ie step 4) for that 'type'.

    Robbo, at this time it not possible to disable the Edit Layout on the record detail page.

  • Is it possible to disable the screen saver for a certain app?

    Is it possible to disable the screen saver just while a certain application is running?
    The app seems to crash when the screen saver comes on.
    Just so you know, application I'm using is Hogwasher; a newsgroup reader.

    Not really. Just disable it manually when you run that application. Then, send off a bug report to the app's developer and tell him to update it for the latest Tiger. Alternatively, use another newsgroup reader.

  • Is it possible to disable the OAWebBeanConstants.IGNORE_MESSAGES

    greetings all .... is it possible to disable the OAWebBeanConstants.IGNORE_MESSAGES . i have this ....................
    {                  OAMessageTextInputBean bi = (OAMessageTextInputBean)webBean.findIndexedChildRecursive("BI") ;
    System.out.println("BI"+bi.getValue(pageContext));
    if ((bi.getValue(pageContext)) != null)
    {                pageContext.setForwardURLToCurrentPage(//"OA.jsp?page=/oracle/apps/ap/MainPG",
    null,
    false, // Retain AM
    OAWebBeanConstants.ADD_BREAD_CRUMB_YES,
    OAWebBeanConstants.IGNORE_MESSAGES);
    System.out.println( "PM");
    OAApplicationModule am = (OAApplicationModule)pageContext.getApplicationModule(webBean);
    String paramPR = prnum2;
    Serializable paramPRParamList[] = { paramPR};
    am.invokeMethod("paidManuallyUpdate", paramPRParamList);
    System.out.println( " THE VALUE OF THE Cancel RB IS " + canx.getValue(pageContext));
    prnum1.setValue(pageContext, "");
    pReason1.setValue(pageContext , "");
    //either one of these confirmations will work . i use one or the other
    throw new OAException("Payment Has Been Updated To Paid Manually", OAException.CONFIRMATION);
    //or
    OAException msg = new OAException("Updated To Paid Manually", OAException.CONFIRMATION);
    pageContext.putDialogMessage(msg);
    the problem is if i include the setForwardURL my confirm messages dont work. if i dont include the setForward they work.
    is there a way to do the setForwars so i can redirect the page and make the table inactive and also use the confimations. i can see its going past my system.prints. it just isnt popping up my confirmations as i believe its due to the IGNORE_MESSAGES.
    any insight ....
    cheers.

    Hi,
    SetForward*()...It lets the current page processing complete. Your following code will complete its processing, after that it will be forwarded to next page.
    ForwardImmediately.... Forwards immediately without letting remaining code process.
    However, a good thing is pageContext of the same page is forwarded. That means, if you did pageContext.putDialog(message), in current page, that will be forwarded in both the cases to next page. Hence, for your problem...
    use putDialog method, as stated in previous post and
    use forward url as CONFIRMATION, NOT AS ERROR OR IGNORE_MESSAGE.
    pageContext.setForwardURLToCurrentPage(//"OA.jsp?page=/oracle/apps/ap/MainPG",
    null,
    false, // Retain AM
    OAWebBeanConstants.ADD_BREAD_CRUMB_YES,
    OAException.CONFIRMATION); //WHAT YOU HAVE PUT IN DIALOGS AND WANT TO SHOW IS CONFIRMATION.
    Please try this.

  • Is it possible to disable the optimized compiler in LabVIEW 2010

    Hello,
    I have a project that take 3 minutes in LabVIEW 8.6 to build and now with LabVIEW 2010 it take 10.5 minutes. 3x more longer.
    In fact my project as 61 .lvproj for a total of 4300 vi's that take 1 hour to build. If I interpolate, the entire build process will take 3 hours in LabVIEW 2010. This is not acceptable
    I know that the new compiler optimize the code for better performance, but if I don't need better performance.
    Is it possible to disable the optimized compiler in LabVIEW 2010 with an INI key in LabVIEW.ini.

    One Application Builder setting you might try out to make builds go much more quickly is the Remove Unused Members of Project Libraries checkbox and the Modify Project Library File after Removi....
    This can drastically cut down the build times. Note, however, that this option does not work well if your application will load external plug-in VIs when it runs, because the libraries of those plug-in VIs may conflict with the modified libraries in the executable file. If you don't have a plug-in architecture, this will not affect you.
    The "Remove unused members of project libraries" was already selected but not the "Modify project library file after removing unused members" and selecting this cut the build time from 10.5 min to 4 min.
    Thank you Jarrod for this tips

    No one here works for Apple.
    Go to System Preferences > Trackpad > Scroll & Zoom, and uncheck Scroll direction: Natural.

  • I have just installed OS X Mavericks and I can't seem to right click on the track pad.

    I have just installed OS X Mavericks and I can't seem to right click on the track pad.
    Also the track pad seems to be slower/ not picking up all my finger movements.

    You might want to take the computer to an Apple Store or an AASP and have them give you an estimate, at least, on how much it would cost to 'fix' the trackpad - I've no idea what the cost would be. The trackpad on MBPs is one of the most sensitive elements in the computer's design. They usually don't go bad, but yours seems to be giving you some trouble: so just make a Genius Bar appointment and just get an estimate - might be something simple.

  • NO Cursor scroll through any message thread using the track pad in the BB Classic

    It very strange to know that I didn't find the cursor while i will scroll through any message thread i.e. Text msgs  and in Whatsapp it will only selet the whole msg or multiple msgs rather then specfic text required, using the track pad in my BB Classic.
    Where in my old BB 9780 there was a cursor which would always show there and would help in selecting text required.... Rather in BB Classic first you have to activate the selection mode in text msgs by pressing the shift key an slighty brush the finger against the trakpad. then you get the selection blue sticks on the screen to selet the text required.
    Anyone who has noticed this short coming...?? Or it might be I am not very familair with the selection methods...!!!
    Will appreciate your help
    Thanks,
    Falak Zaib

    This is normal behaviour. Please go to the "Tutorial" app select
    "Editing Text"
    It will show you exactly how it works.
