Is it Possible to do Particle Morhping in AE CS4

I wanted to know if it is possible to take a particle effect and morph it into a 2d object imported from Adobe illustrator using expressions?

No. Expressions can't do anything an effect cannot provide itself. So if a specific effect offered a "morph target" option, it could be used in an expression, but otherwise not. Anyway, this is utterly unrelated to the matter at hand. you simply need to familiarize yourself with how to control particles e.g. by using layer maps in Particle Playground or how to usetime reversal to make a layer explosion look like a morph.

  • Possible to use FlexUnit 4 with Flash CS4?

When I try to compile and run FlexUnit 4 tests from Flash CS4, there is a run-time error that no tests were found. I believe the cause is that the custom [Test] metadata didn't make it into the SWF, because MXMLC by default does not keep custom AS3 metadata. And unfortunately, Flash CS4 doesn't allow you to supply additional compiler arguments.
Is there a way to use FlexUnit 4 with Flash CS4?
    Robert

... metadata which is part of the Flex Framework, and not the Flash Player API.
This may seem like splitting hairs but I would disagree with this particular statement. Metadata tags are a general mechanism that is not specific to the Flex framework. I can create and use my own tags in an ActionScript-only project. The tags are part of the Flash Player API because they can be accessed at run-time through flash.utils.describeType.
Certainly, the metadata can be accessed at compile-time as well. Flex uses tags like [Bindable] for code-generation magic. But FlexUnit is using metadata at run-time, as I understand it.

  • Is this possible to panel using CS4 like CS5

    Hi gurus.
    I have used Photoshop CS4. I have created both CS4 & CS5 Extensions Panel using from Adobe Confirator I & II .
In Photoshop CS5 Extensions Panel HTML widget shows Image & Text in HTML window.
Hence In Photoshop CS4 Extensions Panel HTML widget doesn't shows image in HTML window only shows Text fields.
Is this possible to show image in HTML Widget CS4....?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi yajiv,
When create extensions for CS4 Photoshop, you have to use "Configurator 1.0".
Its not include HTML widget, So you can't use it for CS4 Extensions.
and... you should better to ask this kind of question in Configurators forum.

Not exactly sure how you where planning to display that HTML content in relation to the overall page, but given the limitations of Flash... that may just not be possible...
But, it would be a simple matter to display an HTML iframe over the top of or behind a Flash .swf... So while the iframe would not be a part of the .swf, it certainly could be designed to make it look as though it were.
Controling the stacking order or layering of content on a Web page is accomplished through z-indexing. Correctly positioned and z-indexed, the iframe could apear over the top of the .swf... the .swf in effect being the background... OR the iframe could appear behind the .swf and with a transparent section in the .swf, the iframe would appear through that hole. If there is navigation or links in the iframe, they will be blocked by the .swf though.

But this may be an option....

  • Downgrading from Flash CS4 to Flash CS3 possible?

Hi, I have just bought the whole Creative Suite 4 Master Collection as I need most of the programs as a freelancer. Now I have just the task to debug a Flash CS3 project, but somehow it is definitely not possible to compile the main fla with CS4. Thus I would like to "downgrade" Flash to CS3. Is this possible?

No, I have just bought CS4 and used Flash 8 and the Flash CS3 trial before. I still have the trial installation on my system, but it has expired since quite a while.
Is there not any chance to acquire a Flash CS3 Serial number somehow? I urgently need it, since the project I'm working on actually cannot be compiled using CS4 though it should, regarding the amount of money I spend on this software...
P.S. I will NOT buy a second license of the old Flash, just for that purpose! Are you kidding me?

  • Please help answer this for me

I have returned 3 iPods now, because it appeared that they all had stuck pixels (white, only visible in dark on black background). These white dots are VERY VERY small and I cannot see them unless the screen is black and I am in a dark room. Also, I can't always see them. I have to tilt the screen around and I only see them at certain angles and then they disappear when titled another way. If they were stuck pixels, shouldnlt I see them all the time?? I read a post about these white specks possibly being dust particles on the scrren and that it is common. I also read that it could be the backlight leaking through at a certain angle. The latter two explanations are starting to sound like possibilites but I juts want to be sure I donl;t have a stuck pixel on the screen. Would a stuck white pixel be stuck on all the time and you could see it from at all angles?? The genius at the Apple sotre said he can't see a stuxk pixel on my screen at all.

I do not mean to be rude but are you sure that you really have a problem?
By your own admission you have to go out of your way to see the "problem" which, even then you cannot always find.
I respectfully suggest that you stop hiding in darkened rooms and start ENJOYING using your iPod - that's why you (presumably) bought it.
    Paul.

  • 24" Display Dust?

I don't know what this is appearing in the corner of my Apple LED, I went to the apple store and they said that I would have to get the LCD repleaced (~700 dollars).  I was hoping someone could give me insight to what this is, at first I thought it was dust but have removed the glass and cleaned underneath it.  Any insight would be helpful.  Thanks!

The LCD is a sealed unit before it's placed in the computer so no it's not possible for foreign particles to "ride in on a CD". It may be possible for dust to get under the "glass" that covers the LCD, but again, not from a CD.
I'm sure that's doubtful, but I don't know much beyond what they "look like"
Apple has a decent article on pixel anomalies. In order to keep LCD costs down, a certain number of pixel anomalies are considered "acceptable" by most manufacturers. Some resellers offer a dead pixel warranty for an extra cost. They lose money with individual LCDs that are returned with pixel anomalies that are considered "acceptable" (the manufacturer would bill them for repair or replacement) and usually sell them at a reduced cost. In the long run, though, most LCDs don't have pixel anomalies so the more dead pixel warranties they sell, the more profit they make.
I've tried the Pixel-Fixer widget, but have seen no effect.
Software like the Pixel-Fixer widget are often just temporary solutions. Stuck pixels usually indicate a hardware issue with the LCD matrix and the only guaranteed way to make sure they're gone is to replace the display.
This picture mistakenly refers to a "bright" pixel as "dead". When the pixel is stuck in an open position (allowing light to pass through) it's a "bright" (sub-)pixel. When it's stuck in a closed position (blocking light from passing through) it's called a "dark" or "dead" pixel.
This picture shows a dead (or "dark") pixel.
Hopefully that clears some of your questions.

  • Dust scratch

is it possible for a particle of dust to scratch the spot it was on?
just wondering because theres a little white dot on my screen, and it's only noticeable when theres a source of light shinng on the ipod and this "dust" won't move if i blow on it or try to wipe it off
    anyone have a similar problem?

Are you looking at the image at 100% zoom (or higher) when you see the dots go away with the Dust & Scratches filter?
Can you please capture a view of your screen when you're about to run the filter, then again right afterward, then post the images here (using the little camera icon)?  That will help illustrate what you're seeing clearly and you'll likely get better help.

  • What does a dead pixel even Look like ?

I posted a thread 24 hours ago that ended up w/ a missing section, then 2 replies to finish.... a real mess that went deservedly unanswered.
    I'm sure I can do better :
Suddenly I've got 2 "bits of dust" towards the lower right corner of my 24" display. They're different sizes ( the smaller close to a pin-head ) and the slightly larger one is a much darker shade of grey. They're also roughly-edged...misshapen.
They look like pieces of grit , is it even possible for a foreign particle to "ride in on a CD" and end up visible within the display ?
I'm sure that's doubtful, but I don't know much beyond what they "look like"
I've tried the Pixel-Fixer widget, but have seen no effect.
I'd just like to hear what else others may have had, the better to determine what these interlopers actually are !
    thanks, Dave

  • Opening CS4 file in CS3

I haven't been able to open a Premiere Pro CS4 file (.prproj) in Premiere Pro CS3. I get the message "The project could not be loaded, it may be damaged or contain outdated elements."  And CS4 will not save as a CS3 file (.prproj).  Why, you ask, would I want to bring an edited CS4 file into CS3???  Because the FLVs produced by CS4 are "soft" (blurred) compared to FLV files produced in CS3 and I don't want to have to re-edit the production.  Does anyone know if it's possible to get an edited file from CS4 into CS3?  Thanks!

Backward compatibility is seldom possible, if ever. Closest that I have come is Encore CS3 Projects do Open in EncoreDVD 2.0, with few issues, but that is the ONLY instance that I have seen.
Now, one could Export from CS4 and then Import the resulting file in CS3 for the FLV Export. Maybe the Lagarith Lossless CODEC would help here?
Another way might be to take the CS4 Project into AE and then take that into CS3. Have not tried this, so there could be a few pit-falls and workarounds.
Sorry, but compatibility is usually one way - up and never down.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Bridge CS4 Web Galleries - Adding New Web Gallery Presets

Hi. How can i import new web gallery presets into Bridge CS4, for example from lightroomgalleries co? Im on a French Win XP and Photoshop CS4. I know i have to create a folder within Common Files/Adobe/Bridge CS4 Extensions/Adobe output Module/mediagallery/resources/templates/. If i see it right, i have to create another styles folder within that? I manage Bridge CS4 to offer the imported preset in the presets menu, but the results look generic, not like what the preset should do according to the description on the web site. So what can i do?
Are there other sources for other gallery presets?
I would also like to know how to set the name that the Presets menu uses. Ive seen this .dat file which seems to control the names for the menu, but wasnt able to change the name appearing in the menu.
For that, I had copied a complete style like 03filmstrip, changed the xml files and renamed the folder to 09filmstripVariant. Thus it appeared with the original name, but at position 9 in the menu. I didnt find out how to make it appear with a new name.
In these names for Bridge gallery presets, are there certain characters i must avoid like underscore, minus or blank?
    Thanks for all clear info!

Hi all<br />It is still possible to create webgalleries and contactsheets in CS4, but you have to copy some files and folders from a folder called Goodies which you can find on you install disk or download as extras from Adobe.com. <br />In the "...Goodies\Optional plug-ins" folder there is a OptionalPluginsReadMe.pdf where they among other things write:<br /><br />"1. From the Photoshop CS4 install disc, drop the //<language>/Goodies/Optional plug-<br />Ins/Automate/WebContactSheetII plug-in into the //Adobe Photoshop CS4/Plugins/<br />Automate folder<br /><br />2. From the Photoshop CS4 install disc, drop the //<language>/Goodies/Presets/Web Photo<br />Gallery folder into the //Adobe Photoshop CS4/Presets folder and then restart Photoshop."

  • CS4: Why can I only print JPEGS?

I have just installed an Epson 7900 printer, but I cannot get a printer dialogue (File > Print >) to come up with a PSD or TIFF opened in CS4. Oddly, it only opens with a JPEG! With a PSD or TIFF I get the message "To perform printer-related functions like page setup or printing a document you must first install a printer."
An Epson tech told me I would likely have to reinstall Photoshop. This is the first attempt to print anything from my relatively new PS CS4 software. Note: I was able to run a test print from Lightroom 2.0. CS4 also apparently fails to find my HP LaserJet and an HP all-in-one inkjet during these times.
What could I possibly be doing wrong??
    PS CS4

No, seriously, are you sure you have 64-bit drivers for your printer?
They are not available for all printers. Visit the HP web site and check for the latest 64-bit drivers.
Without them you may be running generic Vista drivers which are limited in function.
Otherwise, remove the printersrom the printer panel and re-install. If that doesn't help you can try restting your PS preferences in accordance with the FAQ.)

  • Smart Objects: How can I prevent resizing when replacing contents?

There seem to be 2 kinds of smart objects:
One kind where you can replace the contents, no matter what size it has and it will fit into the bounding box of the smart object which is already there.
The other kind where this doesn't happen.
Is there any way to control that behaviour? I found that in older PS-files, replacing contents always made the new content fit into the bounding box, but since CS3, the transformation stays the same which means I have to rescale the smart-object if the content-size has changed.
    Example:
Imagine a game cover with screenshots on the back side. Now each screenshot is a smartobject.
All Screenshots are at 640x480 (assumend the standard screen dpi of 72)
Now I found them in a better resolution (1024x768, also 72dpi) and replace the old ones with "replace content".
The old photoshop behaviour: Photoshop would fit the larger image to occupy exactly the same area than it's predecessor.
The new behaviour: The whole Smartobject is enlarged by 160% (not the transformation parameters, the visual appearance.), I have to scale it down to make it fit to the old size.
And I really wonder about having older and newer Photoshop-Files where these Smartobjects behave differently.
Now did I miss something in the help section or is there a way to control this behaviour?

Yes, fortunately, I am a Windows user, but I don't want to start a religious war here And it is also possible to run multiple versions of Adobe products simultaneously under Windows - why shouldn't that be possible? Currently I have CS3 and CS4 and somtimes use CS3 when CS4 is just too buggy to get the job done. Before that I had CS and CS2 on the same machine.
But I wouldn't keep all versions back to PS 6.0 or CS, that would be a bit too chaotic and I'd had to spend days of installing if I get a new computer. I expect those programs to be a little bit backwards-compatible, so I don't have to use many different versions. And for Photoshop, this is mostly the case. It's just very tiny details like Smart Object resizing that seems to work differently.
Otherwise I'm really happy that in CS4 I can finally link Masks to smart objects and apply warp and perspective on them, that's a big plus!
