Is it possible to down grade to iTunes 10 in Mountain Lion?

I had no problems using iTunes10 on Lion. Now after upgrading to iTunes 11 and to Mountain Lion, I cannot import my music from CDs.

  • Itunes hangs with itunes match in Mountain Lion

    Right!
I've seen all the "Itunes hanging" issues that Apple is choosing to ignore. So I'm adding my bitter experience to this too!
    I have:
Re-installed Mountain Lion, tried to run the latest version of itunes, and pulled down my cloud stored library. It hangs itunes, then hangs Mountain Lion.
    I have:
Created a new user, and tried to do the same....it hangs itunes...then hangs the computer.
    I have:
Tried using the rescue partition, and it ....yes, youve guessed it hangs itunes, and hangs the computer.
I don't have wirless on, and am using a network cable. I've tried using wifi....
    My machine is:
    Mac Pro
    Processor  2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    Memory  12 GB 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM
Graphics  NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB
    Software  OS X 10.8.3 (12D78)
I'm a film editor and photo-journalist hence the amount of ram.
Allof this started when Apple released Mountain Lion.....IT ALL WORKED BEFORE!
Can the developers figure out what is happening, or are they focusing their efforts on trying to create the next rich experience pioneered by Mr.Ives.
Fed up with this, I used to be proud of using Apple, however, I'm starting to like the look of Windows 8.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers

Maybe this will help. If you monitor the "More Like This" box (top right), other threads appear. Opening them usually displays other threads.

  • ITunes crashes in Mountain Lion virtual machine under Mavericks host

I have been trying to test iTunes 11 under Mountain Lion in a VM running under Mavericks using the 30-days demo mode of Fusion 6, so that I can make a purchase decision.
Each time I have tried to conduct the necessary tests, iTunes crashes in the Mountain Lion VM.
The crash report shows that it is an Exception Type:  EXC_BREAKPOINT (SIGTRAP).
These crashes have happened after each of three occasions that I've created a brand new VM and then installed Mountain Lion in it.
The crashes consistently and reliably happen after I click the Accept button in iTunes' splash screen or after I click any of iTunes' menubar items.
The VM has no third-party apps; I've only created the VM, installed Mountain Lion (on two occasions updated to 10.8.5 using the combo updater; on the third, left it at 10.8.3 as installed), and then installed VMWare Tools.
On two of the three occasions, during the installation process, I chose "Mac OS 10.8" from the list of guest Mac OS versions because "Mac OS 10.8-64 bit" was not one of the options.
On the third occasion, I chose "Mac OS 10.7-64 bit" and renamed the VM to "Mac OS 10.8-64 bit."
I am using Mountain Lion's "InstallEDS" disk image file from the factory installation that came with my MacBook Pro with Retina display (which I subsequently updated to Mavericks).
Can someone please point me in the proper direction for getting this VM prepared so that iTunes launches properly?
    Many thanks in advance!

This problem evidently is related to VMWare Tools.
I created a second virtual hard drive in the Fusion VM, cloned a vanilla Mountain Lion installation to the second virtual hard drive, and then launched Mountain Lion iTunes in the VM without installing VMWare Tools.
iTunes behaved normally; I could click the Agree button in the splash screen and access iTunes' menubar items normally.
After installing VMWare Tools, I launched iTunes and it became very unstable; clicking any menubar item or just resizing the application's window resulted in iTunes quitting unexpectedly.
I then uninstalled VMWare Tools using the uninstall application.
    iTunes then behaved normally again.
Has anyone else experienced this problem or know how to install VMWare Tools without compromising iTunes' stability?

  • Is it possible to down grade the os

    Hi,
I run a small holiday rentals business and use a mac air running OS X 10.7.5
I recently purchased another mac air for someone to help out running the business but the calendar drop down menu on the email enquiries isn't the same as mine on the 10.7.5 (the newer version is less efficient for this purpose). The 11 inch mac runs on 10.8.3.
Is it possible to get the old calendar back? I'm happy to replace the 10.8.3 for the 10.7.5 if I need to but how would I do it?
    Thanks!

No it is not. Since the new mac came with 10.8.x mountain lion it can not run lion. Lion does not have the correct driver pacakage for the newest mac computers. It simply will not install.

  • Tried to import a cd to itunes on os mountain lion

Is it possible that mountain lion will not work with itunes and the 160G classic ipod?  Tried to import a cd three times.  Looks like it imports but when I eject the cd it disappears.  Is the cloud messing things up?  Oddly when I synced the classic the album shows up there but not in itunes.  WEIRD.  Help

So after you ripped the CD into iTunes it does not appear under your main iTunes Music library category?  Does it appear under the Recently Added playlist?

  • Is it possible to either get a CD version of Mountain Lion or create your own?

I am having a seriously hard time partioning a drive and creating a copy of my OS X Mountain Lion system. I have partioned my drive and tried making a copy using Disk Utility and it tells me that what I am trying to do can not be done. So moving to other options.
Is it possible to either request a CD ROM version of Mountain Lion from Apple or even better, is there a way I can make a CD ROM version of Mountain Lion myself, so that if I dont like Maverick I can just re-install Mountain Lion.
    Any help would be great.

Another option is to make a bootable clone and put is on a USB stick.
Clone  - Carbon Copy Cloner          (Often recommended as it has more features than some others)
    Clone – Data Backup
    Clone – Deja Vu
    Clone  - SuperDuper
    Clone - Synk
Clone Software – 6 Applications Tested

  • Macbook Pro will not shut down/restart/sleep/log out after Mountain Lion update

    Dear all,
I upgraded from Lion to Mountain Lion yesterday and since then I have encountered a few issues:
    - The only way I can shut down my computer is to hold down the power button or entering commands in terminals. The commands under the Apple menu do not work at all. No window opens when I click on it.
    - The about this mac, force to quit, sleep, shut down and restart button, log out do not work.
    - When I restart my computer, it takes 3-4 minutes to log into the account (it used to be less than 1 minute, I have an SSD).
I have tried all of these solutions to solve the problem:
    - I created another user account and I do not encounter the same problems. It logs in quickly, can shut down etc.
    - I have repaired the disk and the disk authorisations using disk utility
    - I have cleaned up all caches and did maintenance using OnyX
    - I have cleaned up all ACL using terminal
    - I have never installed Kapersky (this was the cause of the problem for some people in the past)
I am starting to be a bit short on ideas. All I know is that there is a problem with my user account. I do not want to do a clean install as I have quite a lot of work stored on this user account and preferences that took me ages to set up. If I have to start fresh I will but I would rather avoid this extreme solution.
Has anyone else experienced such an issue? If yes, how did you solve it?
    Thank you very much

Had the same problem and this worked for me:
    Try deleting following two items:
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.db
Make sure you take a screenshot of your current dock since deleting these files will reset your dock to default.
Now open terminal and do a sudo reboot w/ your password.
This solved the problem for me.

  • How do I shut down from the login window in mountain lion using the keyboard

how do I shut down/sleep/restart from the login window in mountain lion using the keyboard?

Hi Thomas, thanks for your reply.
Yes in standard start-up as it is and in recovery mode I still get the same message about Disk Utility being unable to repair the disk so I should back-up and restore.
Some posters have said that booting into safe mode should unmount the installer and allow rebooting back into Lion, that would allow me to back-up the files properly, as my last back up was (as is often the way) not too recent.
But I think your suggestion looks more likely to be he correct way to do it, and I'll take the hit on any data that I may lose.
    Thanks again.

  • Is it possible to run all OS and programs on Mountain Lion?

    Greetings!
I have set myself the following challenge and wondered if it was technically possible to do the following:-
On a single mid-2012 MacBook Pro (with optical drive built in) running OS 10.8.5 as the main OS and obviously totally within the law of my country I would like the ability to run:
    § Power PC applications;
    § All Mountain Lion programs;
    § Any Linux program;
    § Windows 7 or later;
Note 1: I have already purchased Mac OS Snow Leopard Server and await it's delivery…
Note 2: I am happy to buy an OEM copy of Microsoft Windows…
Note 3: Microsoft Windows is sadly a necessity due to my University not supporting anything else for it's specialist software which I require for my studies.
Note 4: I would use Ubuntu Linux
Note 5: I have absolutely no desire to ever run Mavericks at all…
Thus, I would like my MacBook Pro to simply run any program I care to use, is this realistically possible?
Please accept my apologies if this is posted in the wrong section, I was a little unsure in which community to post this.
    Thank you in advance,
    CK

    Thank you,
I shall do just that, as soon as I've purchased an OEM of Microsoft Windows…
Is there anything I should be aware of, other than to keep a back up of everything before I start, please?

  • Itunes error using mountain lion

i was uploading pictures to SmugMug using MacDaddy.  I am currently using the mountain lion version but have not been able to download the last two updates of Mountain Lion, due to lack of disc space, thus the uploading of pictures.  In the process of uploading froze and now my computer is saying it cannot access iTunes. My dock no longer shows, and I cannot access any of my files.  Upon startup, my Safari homepage starts and I can use the internet.
    Help!

If the songs where purchased by you from the iTunes Store, you can transfer them using iTunes.  No need to use a third-party app.
Select the shuffle in iTunes.  From the menu bar, select
File -> Devices -> Transfer Purchases from "<name of iPod>"
Alternately, ALL previous song purchases can be re-downloaded at no cost from the iTunes Store Purchased screen.  The link to Purchased is on the iTunes Store Home screen, under QUICK LINKS.  You need to be signed in with the Apple ID used to make the purchases.

  • IPhoto project export to iTunes disabled in Mountain Lion??

I am a bit frustrated. It seems that after upgrading to Mountain Lion I cannot export my iPhoto project to iTunes anymore. This is a pity because it is a nice way of bringing my projects with me (iPhone / iPad). Any suggestions?

    Thanks for asking!
iPhoto had an option to export a project to iTunes. I used this option a couple of times. Today I completed a new project. And then I thought it would be nice to export it to iTunes ..... I have searched al options, but this one seems to be gone! Even a workaround via PDF is not working.
This is the first time ever that I feel a bit frustrated on my mac...

  • Where is the iTunes Widget in Mountain Lion?

On the Apple website, it states there are several pre-installed widgets with Mountain Lion, including the iTunes widget (http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11233). However, when I open the dashboard, I cannot see the iTunes widget that I used to use all the time on Snow Leopard for playing iTunes songs/playlists etc...
I was able to download the iTunesTan widget from the Dashboard Widgets page of the Apple site (http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/?r=dbw). It works in a similar way, but what about the Apple version, is that still available?

Having done a bit more digging online, it seems that the iTunes widget was discontinued as of Lion. I intend to contact Apple Support to confirm this... but for now, it seems the closest thing to the iTunes widget that actually works on Mountain Lion is the "iTunesTan" widget.
This link provides a second link to a download of the iTunes widget taken from Snow Leopard: http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/19088/how-do-i-get-the-itunes-play-cont rol-widget-back-in-dashboard
If you have backups of a Snow Leopard system, you can also get a copy of the widget from your backup... but I have done that on Mountain Lion and the widget fails to work, so unfortunately the iTunes widget appears to be obsolete as of Mountain Lion.

  • Snow leopard iTunes library to Mountain Lion iTunes

    Hi folks,
I want to bring my iTunes library from my old iMac running Snow Leopard and new itunes to my new iMac which has Mountain lion installed.
Previously relocating the iTunes library was as simple as dragging the library folder to a new location and then pointing iTunes to the new location. Is it still that simple with new iTunes and Mountain Lion?
    Thanks,
    David.

Hi Chris simply because I don't want to bring it all over.
I've done that the last 3 times (well the apple store has for me) and I now have so much junk on my hard drive that I want to be very selective this time.
Probably getting off track for the iTunes forum, but will migration assistant allow me to pick and choose individual bits to bring accross? I always believed it just dumped the lot, but happy to be told I'm wrong.
    Thanks,
    David.

  • Moving itunes library in Mountain lion from hard disk

My iTunes library is on a external hard disk with the rest of my old computer's stuff  , I want to transfer all my music in my new iMac , I want to make sure what I am about to do is correct...
iTunes is turned OFF on the new iMac , the external hard disk is plugged in the computer and the finder window is opened where I located the  iTunes blue file,
In the new computer finder ,I located the blue file "iTunes media" in  users/music/itunes/itunes media
Do I simply drag the first file in the other one ??

I just transferred my iTunes media to an external drive, but it sounds like you want to go the other direction.  I would suggest you follow Apple's recommend procedure rather than just dragging the folder:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1449

No.  Installing RAM doesn't make a computer faster.

Sure, but why pay for that when you can do it yourself.

Have you checked activity monitor to see if any apps or processes are takin up a large percentage of the CPU?
