There has never been a legit way to downgrade.
It will always restore to the latest available software.

Apple does not provide a way to downgrade an IOS device once it has been upgraded.

  • Make possibility to downgrade from iOS7 to iOS6!

Make possibility to downgrade from iOS7 to iOS6! Because iOS 7 is awful, have too much bugs and much more slowly!

We are fellow users here on these forums, you're not talking to Apple - If you want to leave feedback for them then you can do so via this page : http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html
What bugs are you referring to ? If you have problems and the standard troubleshooting methods (closing apps via the multitasking bar, soft-reset, restore) haven't fixed them then if it's on third-party apps have you tried contacting the developers ?
In terms of things being slow, then if the above doesn't help, then have you tried adjusting your settings e.g. Settings > General > Accessibility > Reduce Motion 'on' ?

  • Is it possible to downgrade from iTunes 11 back to 10.7

    Hi
    - Really not linking iTunes 11 , is it possible to downgrade, any answer would be extremly helpful!
    Thanks
    - Tom

    =Downgrading from iTunes 11 to iTunes 10.7=
Try activating the sidebar, menu bar, and status bar and see if this is close enough to the previous version to make you content.  It is easier than downgrading and eventually you will be forced to run a newer iTunes unless you have an endless supply of the model computer you currently own.
You may be able to go back with Time Machine but this may involve restoring other items too (https://discussions.apple.com/message/20441404).  Alternatively:
Back up your computer first, in case the unexpected happens.
Here's a step-by-step method and you may find it easier to follow than alternative methods I have posted below.
    Downgrade iTunes 11 to iTunes 10.7 - http://www.emacconsulting.com/apple/itunes/downgrade-itunes-11-to-itunes-10-7/
If the above does not work, or you want to do it without Pacifist, or you want to know what is actually going on when downgrading, or you encounter error messages, here's more details:
    Quit iTunes.
Get iTunes 10.7 from http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1576 or the direct download link at:  http://appldnld.apple.com/iTunes10/041-7195.20120912.d3uzQ/iTunes10.7.dmg
Do a few preparatory steps by making sure all iTunes components are not running and cleaning old files.   See https://discussions.apple.com/message/20475394.  Do steps 3 and 4.  Steps 6-8 may be also useful but I don't know if they are essential.  Some of the other steps are not necessary, duplicate steps listed later in my post or are perhaps even unhelpful in the process.
Replace the iTunes 11 application with iTunes 10.7.  Simply dragging the application to the trash may not work. Lion (OSX 10.7) and newer systems have iTunes integrated into the operating system and deleting is a bit more involved.  Two ways to do this are:
    1.  (Easier) Use the shareware Pacifist utility (http://www.charlessoft.com/) to install iTunes 10.7 including all associated system files. Details at http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=16400819&postcount=6
    2. (More work) Check this reference on how to delete the iTunes application itself:
Delete iTunes in Mac OS X 10.7 Lion - http://osxdaily.com/2011/09/13/delete-itunes-in-mac-os-x-10-7-lion/
After deleting the application there may be other files that need downgrading too. See the note about error -42408 at the end of this post. You may want to tuck these away somewhere safe until you have completed the installation of iTunes 10.7.  I have not tested this but ideally if newer versions are not found then the installer will put in the old versions. This may include these files in /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/ which apparently get updated by iTunes 11:
    AirTrafficHost.framework
    CoreFP.framework
    DeviceLink.framework
    iTunesAccess.framework
    MobileDevice.framework
After doing one of the two procedures above you will have to rescue the most recent old iTunes library from your iTunes > Previous Libraries folder. Rename it "iTunes Library.itl"  and replace the existing one in the iTunes folder. A newer version of iTunes irreversibly updates your library file so you have to replace it with the old one or you will get an error message. Note, this will revert your library to the version at the time of the upgrade and you will have to update any changes made since.  See:
https://discussions.apple.com/message/20401436 - turingtest2 11/2012 post on rebuilding empty/corrupt library from previous iTunes library file after upgrade/crash.

Alternatively, check https://discussions.apple.com/message/20441424 which requires you have a Time Machine backup (though possibly if you remove the newer version of these files old ones may be installed with the iTunes 10.7 installer - untested).  A  variant of this is at: https://discussions.apple.com/message/20448184

  • Possibility to downgrade from team to individual plan without cancellation?

    Hi!
I'm from Ukraine and individual plan is not yet available for my country. While it is not, I plan to use team version.
Question is: When individual plan will be available for Ukraine, would it be easy/possible to downgrade to individual plan (without cancellation or some other major changes to subscription)?
P.S. Also, it is still not clear why plan is not yet available, and no information why. Without no information why it is not available, it looks much like a kind of discrimination - large number of countries should over-pay for team versions instead of individual for no reason. Waiting for availability for my country, or at least good explanation.

    Hi Tom,
I'm not sure why the team option was made available before individual. It may be related to the individual memberships being sold through the Adobe website versus team being sold through resellers. Its not possible to downgrade without cancellation, so you might want to wait for individual to become available.

  • Not possible to downgrade from 2.0?!?

Trying to downgrade from 2.0 back to 1.1.4, I got into problems; using iTunes 7.7 and use the restore package for 1.1.4 gives me "Unknown error (20) while trying to restore the iPod". Using iTunes 7.6.2 it does not recognize the 2.0 iPod in recovery mode...
    Anyone?
    /msa

You can use iTunes 7.6.2 and DFU mode to restore iPod touch back to 1.1.4/1.1.5. First, make sure iTunes 7.6.2 is installed properly. On Windows, you have to uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support and iTunes, then reboot and install iTunes 7.6.2. On Mac, you have to delete /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework, /Applications/iTunes.app, and then in /Library/Receipts, delete AppleMobileDeviceSupport.pkg, iTunesX.pkg, and iTunesAccess.pkg.
Now, with iTunes 7.6.2 launched, start with iPod touch powered off. Connect to computer and iPod touch will power on. Immediately after it starts powering on, hold down both the menu and sleep/wake buttons. Continue holding both buttons until the screen powers off with pixelated lines, and then three seconds after that let go of the sleep/wake button but keep the menu button held down. iTunes will tell you it has found an iPod touch in "recovery" mode; dismiss the dialog and then once you see the iPod in iTunes, you can release the menu button. Now you can restore and will get 1.1.5.

  • Is it possible to downgrade from os4 to os3.1. 3?

    Hi,
after upgrading to os4 I have noticed that the phone has become slow. Is it possible to downgrade to os 3.1.3?
    ppsingh

I talked to the guy at the genius bar -- he said no, apple will not allow it. Boo! But he also told me that there is an OS 4.1 which is already in the testing phase, that should be rolling out soon with solutions to the problems. Also I notice that 4.0.2 has come out -- anyone tried it yet? I'm nervous now...

  • IS IT POSSIBLE TO DOWNGRADE from iTunes 7.4.2?

I can't upgrade my system to OS X 10.4.7, which is what iTunes 7.4.2 says it requires, because of other apps i'm using which are NOT compatible. (Unfortunately, on advice from a friend, i upgraded iTunes without checking the requirements)
I've checked the discussions and have not found the answer to: how do i un-install iTunes 7.4.2 and revert to my older iTunes version?
    PLEASE HELP.

Is there a reason you cannot apply the Combo updater to 10.4.10?
To downgrade - D/L what version you want at - http://www.oldapps.com/downloadiTunesmac.php
Go to HD>Library>Receipts - remove the iTunesX.pkg to the trash.
Drag your iTunes app to the trash. B/U your iTunes Library and .xml files. B/U your iTS purchases.
Repair permissions with Disk Utility - install iTunes - repair permissions again.
Open iTunes - if all is well you can empty the trash.

  • HDD crash, iTunes library gone, is it possible to restore from itouch?

    Hi Everyone,
My hard drive recently crashed and my iTunes library with it. Fortunately I store all of my music in an external hard drive. However, the iTunes library file and other ITL files got wiped out in the crash. My iPod Touch is still intact and I don't want to recreate my iTunes library from scratch and erase all of the info that is in my iPod. Can anyone help me on this?
