Is it possible to download document from a PC to the I-pad 2?

Is it possible to download a document from my PC to my I-Pad 2?

The easiest way to transfer a document for a beginner - IMHO - is to email the file. These are the file formats that the iPad can read as mail attachments with no need for a third party app. The caveat here is read only - not edit.
Viewable document types: .jpg, .tiff, .gif (images); .doc and .docx (Microsoft Word); .htm and .html (web pages); .key (Keynote); .numbers (Numbers); .pages (Pages); .pdf (Preview and Adobe Acrobat); .ppt and .pptx (Microsoft PowerPoint); .txt (text); .rtf (rich text format); .vcf (contact information); .xls and .xlsx (Microsoft Excel)
There are apps available that will let you edit word processing, spreadsheet and presentation files. Apple's iWorks suite, Documents to Go, Office2 HD and others can edit the MS office suite applications. You will need one of these apps on the iPad to edit and to save the files. On the iPad, files are saved in the app in which they are created. There is no conventional folder structure on the iPad for file saving.
The other ways that you can transfer files back and forth are with a cloud service like DropBox and the iOS file sharing feature. File sharing is performed when you you sync with iTunes on your computer. You can read this for more information.

  • How do i save documents from e-mail to the I-Pad?

    I have a new I-Pad Air and am trying to move some files from my Windows laptop to the I-Pad. what is the best way to do this?

    The simplest way is to e mail the documents to your self.  On the pad, open the e mail, then the attached document in an app on the pad.  The document will then be saved and associated with that app.
    You can also use a cloud, like drop box.
    The key to avoiding frustration for new users - do not expect to see a file management scheme like windows.  It simply does not exist.  Docs are stored in associated with the app that opens them.

  • When saving a PDF from a FrameMaker book, is it possible to set document filenames as bookmarks in the PDF?

    When saving a PDF from a FrameMaker book, is it possible to set document filenames as bookmarks in the PDF? Currently when I have a Framemaker book that I want to save as a PDF, I choose Save Book As and then choose PDF for the file format. A dialog box comes up in which I can choose the Bookmarks tab and choose which tagged content I want to be made into bookmarks in the PDF file. What if I would rather have the filename of a document rather than the chapter title be a bookmark in the PDF? Is that possible? Where would I choose that option? Thanks!

    There are two ways that you could do this. You can either use postscript text frames and enter the correct pdfmark entries to show the file name with the corresponding actions (i.e. where to go in the PDF) or you can use hidden text in FM and the "Filename (Short) " variable in a unique paratag to be picked up by FM's bookmark creation.
    To go the pdfmark route, see http://www.pdflib.com/fileadmin/pdflib/pdf/pdfmark_primer.pdf for details and also consult the Adobe Pdfmark Reference manual (http://www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/acrobat/pdfs/pdfmark_reference.pdf).
    The hidden text route would use FM's Color Views to specify a colour as Invisible. This will make the content visually disappear from the screen (and any output), but FM will still be able to read the contents of any text that is coloured with the Invisible colour(s).
    1. Pick or create a colour that you want to be invisible. [Magenta is usually a good bet and stands out visually].
    2. Set that colour to be invisible in View 1 and visible in View 6. [you can use the shortcut <esc> v 1 and <esc> v 6 to toggle between the views.]
    3. Create a paratag to use for the filename and set the font colour to use the invisible colour.
    3. In the title of each chapter file, drop an anchored frame that is set to be outside of the text frame [so it won't interfere with any other content].
    4. In that AFrame, insert a text frame and use the invisible paratag defined in step 3.
    5. Insert the Filename (Short) variable in that text frame.
    6. Repeat steps for all files to be included in the bookmarks.
    When creating the PDF bookmarks, select only the paratag used for the invisible colour.
    Don't forget to toggle the View to be invisible (i.e. <esc> v 1  - this also works at the book level for all files in the book).

  • Allow users to Download documents from server

    Hello Everybody,
    I am working on an Flex application where I have to allow the
    users to Open/Save documents such as Word document, Excel sheet,
    PDFs, Jpeg, Media files (any digital format document) when a user
    clicks on a link present in a Flex application. To do this I am
    using the navigateToURL() method and simply passing the URL string
    as a URLRequest to the navigateToURL method. This works fine but
    whenenver the link is invoked and the user selects to Save the
    Excel sheet or any document it displays an unwanted browser window
    behind the Open/Save/Cancel dialog box saying action cancelled.
    I can not use "_self" as I require the Flex application to
    run as is. I tried using the javascript:window.open() but this did
    not work.
    1) Is there a process to stop the browser window from
    opening?
    2) How can we invoke a javascript using navigateToURL(), I
    tried to invoke javascript.alert('Ok') and also
    javascript:window.open() both did not function.
    3) Is there any other method or flex classes etc. to invoke
    external applications (allow to download documents from server)?
    Please help me.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Paromita

    Paromita,
    You could use the file download functionality. This is from
    the docs:
    You can let users download files from a server using the
    FileReference.download() method, which takes two parameters:
    request and defaultFileName. The first parameter is the URLRequest
    object that contains the URL of the file to download. The second
    parameter is optional--it lets you specify a default filename that
    appears in the download file dialog box. If you omit the second
    parameter, defaultFileName, the filename from the specified URL is
    used.
    The following code downloads a file named index.xml from the
    same directory as the SWF document:
    var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest("index.xml");
    var fileRef:FileReference = new FileReference();
    fileRef.download(request);
    To set the default name to currentnews.xml instead of
    index.xml, specify the defaultFileName parameter, as the following
    snippet shows:
    var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest("index.xml");
    var fileToDownload:FileReference = new FileReference();
    fileToDownload.download(request, "currentnews.xml");
    I think this will accomplish what you are trying to do.

    Is it possible to download songs from itunes direct to usb as mp3

    If you are referring to the iTunes Store, then no, because all songs they sell are in AAC format.  You can buy MP3s from other online stores, such as Amazon MP3.

    Is it possible to download software from the Adobe site which will enable me to use the raw processor in Elements 9, to work on images shot with a Nikon D800 DSLR?

    The D800 is not on the list of supported cameras for the Camera Raw 6.5 update, bur the D80 is:

  • In the modern world why is not possible to download apps from foreign countries whilst in the uk...!?

    In the modern world why is not possible to download apps from foreign countries whilst in the uk...!?

    Because apps are licensed for sale only in specific countries by the developers, and for iTunes Store and credit card security and anti-fraud purposes you need an AppleID and billing address in the country you are buying from.
    Just because it is a digital download does not mean licensing and local commerce laws and taxes do not apply, like they would to a physical item.

  • Is it possible to download images from an Olympus OMD-EM1 into CS5.1?  If it is, how do I do it?

    Is it possible to download images from an Olympus OMD EM-1 into CS5.1 on a Vista machine?  If it is, how do I do it?

    It looks like that camera requires Camera Raw 8.3 or higher, which will not work with PS CS5.  You would need to download the dng converter and convert your files to a camera raw of 6.x for you to open them.

  • How do I download documents from my computer to Ipad?

    How do I download documents
    from my computer to Ipad?

    Apple has the iBooks app for compatibility with pdf flies. If you do not have it on your iPad, you can download it for free. My personal preference for pdf's is the free Adobe Reader app. It has so many more useful features than iBooks, but if all that you want to do is save the pdf's and organize them into collections, iBooks will work fine. So download an app that you can store pdf files in.
    In order to transfer pdf files to the iPad, you can do that via iTunes. If you are using iBooks on the iPad, you have to add the pdf's to your iTunes library via File>Add to Library. Then you can select them to sync to the device by selecting them in the books pane of iTunes when the iPad is connected to your computers iTunes. This explains how to add content to iTunes. It works with pdf files as described in this article.

    If you use the Adobe Reader app, you can use iTunes File Sharing to transfer the files.

  • Is it possible to download photos from Gallery (Mobile Me)?

    Is is possible to download photos from the Mobile Me Gallery onto the iPad?
    I installed the Mobile Me Gallery application but it seems it only allows me to view photos-not download them.
    I then went to the Gallery web site and same-I can only view photos.

    Just to add my 2 cents. I
    f you are viewing the Gallery and see a picture you want. Hold your finger on the screen until you get the message to "save image or copy" select save image and it will be placed inside your photo app.

    Is it possible to download pictures from the iPad to a pc?

    Yes as long as they are the pictures that you took with the camera. Any pictures that are in the camera roll can be imported to the computer.
    You need some sort of camera application like iPhoto on a Mac or Windows Explorer or Windows Live Photo Gallery on a PC.
    This article explains how to import the photos.
