Is it possible to drag regions and control if AUTOMATION moves too?

I know I can make Logic ALWAYS or NEVER move automation data with regions. My problem is that 50% of the time I move a region I want the automation data to move with it and 50% of the time I don't want the automation to move. Is there a key command or something I can press in either automation default mode that will override that default mode? Is there another solution?

I was worried that was the case... I was hoping there was a key command that I could hold while dragging a region to control what happens to the automation.
I usually use ASK but I find it frustrating to have the dialogue pop up every time I move a region. Grrrr! Is there no other alternative?

The loop counter is a built-in variable that you cannot control. It will always increase.
For your purpose, you must create a seperate variable that contains your index as you want to use it.
The attached VI shows a possible solution. Let me know if this makes sense to you.

Hiding Columns, Regions and Tabs with Javascript

Hello fellow Apex users,
I am using APEX 3.2.1 and am having a Javascript problem. I am trying to make a column disappear as soon as the user selects “No” from the drop-down menu.
TheAPI for disabling a column works fine: $f_DisableOnValue(pThis,pValue,pThat) and the code Example (goes on HTML Form Element attributes): onchange="html_DisableOnValue(this,'No', 'P16_EXAMPLE_COLUMN');"However, when I try to customize the API to “Hide on Value” nothing happens.
This is the API: $f_Hide_On_Value_Item(pThis,pThat,pValue) and my code Example:

Dragging midi and audio regions... Shortcut question...

Sometimes I have trouble dragging regions to a precise point. For example, if I enter some midi data (e.g. an organ melody or something) into a track through my computer keyboard and want to align some of the notes to the beat I can't always.
There is the "Snap" drop down list but regardless of which option "Beat," Frames" etc. I choose the notes won't align to a beat. Always like a few frames off or something unless I max out the horizontal zoom.
Logic seems to want to move data incrementally relative to where it was originally entered or something.
Is there some way to override this and tell Logic to always let me drag regions exactly to a beat or bar regardless of where in the measure the region was entered?

Is there a keyboard shortcut for horizontal and vertical zoom in the midi editor?

for precise midi editing I set my snap to ticks. I believe that Logic's default is 480 ticks per quarter note, but then again, I may be wrong
there are many shortcuts for zooming in and out. There is of course the zoom tool, where you can select the spot you want to zoom into then just click on thew background of your window to un-zoom (is that a word?) or zoom back out again. I use the key command, hold down control and use the arrow keys on your mac keyboard
if you open up your key command window and do a search for zoom, you will find some handy stuff. you can set up key commands for zoom memory, to recall zoom positions

In that Preferences folder there is a file called com.apple.finder.plist.

GarageBand for iPad is a pretty closed system.
The Song File
You can only open GarageBand for iPad Song Files with the extension .band. Please note that those files look the same as the ones form GarageBand 11. However, they are only upwards compatible but not downward compatible. GarageBand iOS -> GarageBand OSX -> Logic.
Audio Files
You can import a wide variety of Audio Files into GarageBand (via iTunes File Sharing) to use in your Song. But any material from another app has to be mixed down first. Either as a single stereo mix or you mix each track separately and then import those separate files ("stems") into GarageBand. This is a typical procedure to move material to a different app,for example for mixing.

" no, I tried starting brand new gb file and draggged hip hop beat 19 into blank field,and viola, a different pattern.I work with a producer in boston(im in ny) and he (at my request) tried this loop and found same glitch,as a matter of fact we have been going through the loop library one at a time and have found all of this bank of hip hop beats to be affected in the same manor, but no others so far, which is a relief , i was suspect all my remix tool loops where going to be screwy.i have been working with the loop in its track region, and been unable to change just the hi hat time.

Every firm has a change control system [ie] specify how the solutions should be moved to the production.
Many firms have a custom Y/ Z programmes,T/codes for this purpose.
Before moving,the documentation is a crucial preliminery-generally there would be a share point,Be spoke etc files to be updated with the new specifications -roles etc,the programme that was amended etc.These are in effect the change control procedures.Ensure you follow them.
The actual movement to production is generally done by IT dept / an authorization group.Request them to move in to production [after getting the approval of the changes from the relevant user].

Problem with Drag & Drop and multiselection in tables

Hi,
we have a problem concerning drag and drop and multiselection in tables. It is not possible to drag a multiselection of table rows, as the selection event is recognized or handled before the drag event. So before the drag starts, the selection will be changed and only a single row is selected at the position where you started the drag with a mouse click.
There was also a java bug with the id 4521075 regarding this problem a couple of years ago. See http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=4521075.
This bug has been resolved but in our application we have not enabled drag by setting setDragEnabled(true) on the table as we have an own implementation of a DragSource (which is the table component), and a DragGestureRecognizer to control mimetype and data to be dragged.
So my question is: Is there any solution for this case without calling setDragEnabled(true) on the table? Or is it possible to enable drag on the table and override some method where the drag recognition happens and the transferable object is created?

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1) user clicks the ascending sorting icon in the table(the button get disabled after sorting the table).
2) After sorting user drag and drop some row over another row.
3) Now the table is no longer sorted.
4) If user again wants to sort the table now, he cannot do it because the sorting button is still disabled.
So I want the user to sort the table again, without refreshing the page

2. In VORowImpl of the extended VO, you can find the getter for your new attribute (example getItem())

I have 3rd party software wirelessly injected and used on my iphone with a cryptographic authentication system without my consent (seems to be new technology developed by stanford and apple security is not updated for this technology) obtaining ownership of my iPhone 4s software and controlling it with remote device to jail breaking my phone, adding and removing software, changing settings all from a remotely controled device from different location (I have a Mac address I'd of this device to know for sure). Almost undetectable. When I look at the legal section of my phone it shows a list of all the unauthorized 3rd party software "as is" copyright encrypted on the phone. This is the most basic way to legally steal software of any kind. Because of this legalality 3rd party ownership have total control of certain software correlated with hardware use including visualization technology, etc. most people luckily will never have this happen to them so it's unlikely many readers have not a clue of what I'm saying currently. Either way, without needing to obtain specific warranty of any kind "as is" copyright control makes system restores not a solution because the source code is not directly encrypted on the actual hardware device only a copy right notice must appear on the specific device 3rd party software validation making it extremely difficult for me to take control of the situation. Apple claims their iOS technology prevents this type copyright obstruction from being possible, however, according to my phone a new form of technology was used developed by Tom wu of Stanford university called the STANFORD SRP AUTHENTICATION TECHNOLOGY which uses Some form of cryptographic authentication system and uses quote "secure remote password" which seems to suceed in hacking iOS apple technology apple claims is not possible to jailbreak an unstolen phone or without the owners consent As well as loading the device with 3rd party copyright Notices to make all of this legalized. My phone shows atleast 30 pages worth of legalized 3rd party copyright permissions! Yesterday my apple care provider labeled me a jailbreaker and refused to look at my legal documented proof which completely blew my mind because it voides my apple care contract I spent 100 on. This employee did not take all factors into consideration and made quick assumptions as well as verbally speaking to me as I'm an automatic criminal. I left the store yesterday with no payed insurance help on a problem I had no control over and couldn't prevent, leaving with voided contracts. This is an apple users worst nightmare and I have spent days researching all of this like i am some kind of lawyer only to be able to use my phone the way it should and spent alot of money on. I can legally backup any claim I have just wrote above currently and have a large source of data collected to prove apple is wrong in voiding insurance support on this issue. The problem lies in apple avoiding and not wanting to believe their software can legally be obtained ot "hacked". Yet still labeled a jailbreaker basically.. What should I do????? Been to local apple store 3 times and rebooted my phone as well sprint service restore 4 times and spoke with reps twiice on the phone. Spoke with my phone provider who said apple has full control over these matters so they can't help me. My case is according to apple "still open"...Anyone else heard of this or of Stanford's office of technology licensing? Maybe I need to buy a blackberry again or just use a landline so I can stop being my own lawyer and focus on other productive areas in life instead of this horrible mess. I shouldn't have to prove to apple I not a jailbreaker they should have to prove I'm one before voiding support I desperately need!!

Yes, Tom Wu of Stanford wrote a paper on something called Secure Remote Access Protocol. It's a form of Asymetric Key Exchange and has nothing to do with hacking anything. It's actually intended to protect data.

Secret dragging tricks and keyboard shortcuts - are these published anywhere?

I have searched for some and stumbled upon others. But I have not seen any of these published or posted anywhere. If so, can you tell me? Either way, you may find some useful ones here. Enjoy! (I think most of these work in Lion. Any keyboard shortcuts you know for Time Machine would be most welcome.)
*** THE DOCK ***
Press ^F3 to move to the dock. Use the arrow keys to select an icon. You can also use autocomplete (type the first few letters of the icon's name). Then press Opt-arrow_key to move the *icon* among the other icons on the Dock. Thus you can change the order of the icons on the Dock using only the keyboard.
*** DRAGGING TRICKS ***
o SAVE-AS SHEET TRICK
Open an app's Save As sheet. Drag a folder or its proxy icon to anywhere in the Save As sheet except the sidebar and that updates the directory (folder) field with that folder. Drag a file or its proxy icon to the Save As sheet (anywhere except the sidebar) and that updates both the directory (folder) and file fields accordingly.
Why do I do this? I find it easier to use the actual Finder, or I may already have a Finder window in the right directory.
You can also click on a directory or file in the Save As sheet to populate the directory or file fields, respectively. Then edit the filename to a slightly different name.
o COPY A FOLDER TREE TO A TEXT DOCUMENT
Open a true text-only editor session using an app like TextWrangler (not TextEdit!). Drag a folder (or its proxy icon) from the Finder into the editor window. Viola`! The names of the folder and all its subfolders and files are pasted into the text buffer in a properly indented form.
o COPY A FILE TO A TEXT DOCUMENT

PgUp/PgDn | Home/End: Moves highlight bar to top or bottom of menus. Moves only the view for lists.
Opt-Spacebar: Move highlight to the alphabetically first item in a menu (except in the Spotlight drop-down menu).
o SPOTLIGHT DROP-DOWN MENU
After selecting an item on the drop-down menu via the arrow keys:
Cmd-Return: Open enclosing folder.
o SPOTLIGHT WINDOW
If ^F7 is set to "all controls", press ^F7 four times if it's the first search in a particular Spotlight window; two, otherwise. This moves you to the list of results.

When the highlight perimeter is on the Gear button, press the spacebar or down arrow to get the drop-down menu. The usual menu navigational shortcuts are in effect.
(To do any of the above three with the mouse, click on the control and hold the mouse button down, then without releasing the mouse button, move the pointer to highlight the desired item on the menu and release the mouse button.)

Then press Shift-Tab once more to go back to the page, where the L and R arrow keys move you around the TOC sidebar and the U and D arrow keys scroll the page.
AFAIK, you can choose Get Started or Browse Help only with the mouse.
You can return to the app via ^F6, but the help pane stays open.

Well, first of all there's no need to get hostile.
I don't underestimate the average Mac user. But I would venture to guess that most are heavily mouse oriented and would not even be interested in the keyboard tricks I posted. And I only said that I haven't seen them on any website, not that no one else in the world knows about them.
Additionally, there have been things missed by the smartest of people. Stereo vision was missed even by Issac Newton, one of the biggest geniuses to grace the planet! It was Wheatstone who first picked up on it. And it used to be thought that a cube flying by at relatvisitic speed would appear foreshortened in the direction of motion. In fact, as was noted decades after relativity was published, it in fact appears rotated. If super smart people could miss this, then perhaps those few who publish these tricks may not know about them.
Re the save-as trick and the new-file-contains-your-text tricks: fine, they're old, but so are many of the tricks that are posted on websites. So why some old ones but not others? How about cut and paste? I bet they're pretty old but that doesn't prevent people from posting them, as in your first reference!
(3) Also unfortunately, your listing mixes up shortcuts and 'tricks' of different categories. For instance, "Copy a File to a Text Document" is not secret, it is not a trick, and it is not relevant. What an app does with a file dropped onto an open document of its own does not depend on the system, but on the app and how it was programmed. TextEdit inserts a text file's path while TextWrangler inserts the text file's contents not because the former is not a text editor, but because that's how each was designed to work. And TextWrangler's behaviour is documented in the accompanying manual.
So one of my tricks is lame. I don't see that as that big a deal.
Bottom line: I don't see any of them in the docs you referenced.

Control parallel port (data and control lines)

I need to control the output on the parallel port (LPT1) - Both data and control lines. Once the data is written (Pins2-9), I then need to toggle the Sprocket signal (PIN1) - on the parallel port. The sprocket signal is also referred to as the Data Strobe Output.
The required method is as follows:
1. Lower the sprocket signal on PIN1
2. Send the data (Pins2-9) and wait
3. Raise the sprocket signal and wait.
4. Repeat.
I am looking for a method to control the data on LPT1 pins 2-9 and then be able to toggle PIN1 - Strobe signal - without the data falling from the other pins. What I have found is that whenever the state is changed on the strobe - the data that was written to Pin2-9 falls to zero. This will not work for my application - the strobe tells the hardware device that the data is ready. If it falls to zero when I toggle the strobe - that will not work.

I am familiar with both references. If you look more closely at the library reference - it allows me to communicate using VISA across the parallel port pins 2-9. It does not permit direct communication to pin1 (the strobe signal) - property nodes don't allow the strobe to be refereced either (similar to control lines/signals for COM ports).
Worse, I have also located examples using OUT PORT that does enable pin1 to be toggled. The problem is, when those VIs are used, the data falls from the data pins when the strobe signal is written, even if its value is not changed. For example, if the strobe is already high, if another high value is passed, the data falls from the data lines. The other issue, when using VISA, as soon as the data is writen, the strobe signal automatically goes high even though I need a wait before setting the strobe high. This is in complete contradiction to the second article you referenced which clearly discusses writing data to pins2-9 then taking the strobe high to indicate to the printer that new data is available. It must be possible since this is the typical handshake.
I am still looking for a more complete answer/solution.

Possible to create detailed and Summary in same crystal report?

I have worked with cyrstal reports back in 2001. Now I am back to creation of reports. I vaguely remember I was able to create summary and detailed reports from one crystal report file. I don't remember if I was using two different stored procedures or not. Can anybody explain if it is possible to create summary and detailed reports from one crystal report file and with one stored procedure. I am guessing somehow I should be able to control behaviour of report - ie. say if user selects detailed report- report will show all records and if user selects summary view then report will show summarized view of same data.
If its possible how do you do it? Can you explain.

There are a couple of techniques with drilling and sub-reports, but what I do most frequently is create a Detail/Summary parameter for the user to select, and then have a formula that references this parameter to either hide or display a Detail section of the report sepending on the option the user chooses. My experience is that most users can relate to this approach better, where as driling and sub-reports can sometimes cause confusion for them.
