Is it possible Messages Settings break Profile Manager?

I've recently been playing about with the Messages app in ML and ML server.
I've got everything working manually, as in going to each machine, logging in as the user and adding their credentials to the Messages app.
I'm trying to automate this using profile manager, I've done simialr for Mail settings but the profile never succeeds. Always fails.
Removing the Messages component from the Profile makes everything work again.
Is this possible? I don't see how it could be any of the information that I am typing in the boxes that breaks it, I've been using %short_name% for the use names, this works for the Mail settings, could this be breaking it?

Partner profile setting are actually soft configuration and you cannot transport them.
You have to set partner profile in all stages.

Can I use the Profile Manager as an MDM while distributing app through app store?

Is it possible to use the Profile Manager within the OSX Server to provision profiles through apps purchased in the app store?
Ex: userX buys app in the app store, in downloading the app they get enrolled in the MDM / OSX Server I control. They select profile settings within my app and submit to OSX Server (Profile Manager) at which point I send back OTA the provisioned profile for them to upload.

How to Resolve Bitnami/MAMP Conflict with Profile Manager

I've been working on a new Lion Server for several weeks, and most of my services work great. However, I want to set up several development environments for WP, Drupal, and Magento, among other things. I prefer to use something like MAMP Pro or, in this case, Bitnami stacks for my various environments. However, this machine currently is used for managing Wiki, Profile Manager, and Device Manager, among other things. Of course, if you activate the Bitnami MAMPstack, that poses an issue for Profile Manager, as both use the 80 and 443 ports, I presume. So, the question is how can I configure Lion Server to run Bitnami (or MAMP Pro, as an alternate possibility) and not break Profile Manager, Wiki, Device Manager, etc.?

Let me edit the statement a bit. Device Manager is the term that I intuitively have attached to the link https://server/mydevices, which is nothing more than a web interface for adding profiles to your Mac and iOS devices. Apple doesn't call it that, but I have taken to doing so, so when I'm referring to it, that's what it is.
Anyway, I haven't tried Wiki on its own, but I know that if I activate MAMP, or BitNami, and I run Profile Manager, it is inaccessible. Obviously, there is a conf setup, or something I am missing here, but I'm not finding it in the server documentation, if it exists at all.

Profile Manager without Internet connection?

At the company I work we have two networks, one is a normal one and has a connection to the Internet and I already have Profile Manager up and running successfully on this network. The second network is however totally isolated from the outside world and is also not connected to the first network. As MCX preferences are being phased out by Apple it would seem one should use Profile Manager or similar MDM to now manage settings, however as officially this requires push notifications to go via Apple's APNS servers this would not seem possible in this second case.
Is it possible to run a Profile Manager system with Mac clients but without an Internet connection and hence without being able to use push notifications? The client Macs would be on the same isolated LAN as the proposed Profile Manager server. No iOS devices would be involved.

I'm not 100% sure but i don't think so.
If i'm not wrong, i'll say that all updates, settings and profiles are sent via push. So, without push the Profile Manager would not function.

Possible to Merge Forum Profiles?

So, I had a duplicate forum profile problem (discussed here) that got resolved, which got me wondering about the following situation.
I've moved from one country to another, and so had to create a new Adobe ID (for online purchases, etc.).

I have two profiles one from when I was a macromedia customer and one for Adobe. I tried several times, went through the online process, and went around in circles, so many times it made me dizzy.

How do I "archive" masses of old emails IN ORDER TO SHRINK MY "PROFILE" SIZE and yet be able to access them possibly in a different profile?

In order to have quicker "profile" backups... I have emails dating back to 1996, about 15GB, and do not want to delete any of the old email, and, at the same time do not need to look at most of the old email, although I may sometimes do a search for something; now, backing up the 15GB profile is time consuming and if I "archived" (saved the old stuff, possibly under a separate profile), then that profile might be 14GB, which, when backed up would not need to be re-backed up, and my daily use profile might be 1GB which would be much easier to back up on a regular basis. I managed to create another profile and I wonder if I can just copy those "folders" in my profile that I want to "archive" into the new profile? And, it is not clear to me how to have both profiles displayed in the same instance of Thunderbird, but, if that is not possible, I'm OK with starting TB and specifying which profile I want for the current session. What I would do is export all of the folders you want to archive to an external medium and then delete them from the profile. If you need to look at an old email later, the export can be in HTML format for easy viewing.
There is an add-on to TB which allows export (and import) of emails in various formats to a separate storage medium (external disk, thumb drive, etc.).

Is it possible to embed camera profiles in DNGs?

I convert my Canon 60D CR2s to DNG via the DNG converter, but also use Camera RAW in Photoshop CS5, which has lens profile support, and sometimes PTLens via a plugin in Aperture to avoid starting up Photoshop.
Is it possible to embed camera profiles into a DNG, either with Adobe software, or other 3rd part software, so that Aperture can read it? Aperture uses the system Raw support, and since it does support embedded lens profiles, such as from some Micro 4/3rd cameras, which gives Aperture rudimentary support for them.
So, is there any way to embed lens profiles into my converted DNGs with any available software? I'm OK with command line utilities, so if there is a techy way, I can devise a script (hopefully) to add it automatically. I do have PTLens, which has a lens profile database (though perhaps encrypted), and I think Hugin supports the LensFun database as well.

I have only experimented a little bit with the profile creator, so don't take this as an expert answer. It seems to me that the profiles are saved with an identifier linking them to the appropriate camera model. Apparently what you would have to do is find a way to edit that profile and modify that identifier to point it to a different model.

DW is auto generating duplicate site profiles

Within the "manage sites" section of DW8, my site profiles
are being automatically duplicated by the program. Whenever startup
DW8, I may have as many as 4 duplicate site profiles for any given
site. Anyone else run into this and/or know how to fix it?

"where does firefox 'profiles' end up in Windows 7? I see there are duplicate 'default'profiles in a local and roaming folders.

I am moving my 'profile' from one netbook (which uses Windows XP) to a newer netbook (using Windows 7 starter). I have found two folders off the 'users/(my name)/local' and 'users/(my name)/roaming' that seem to be duplicate default profile folders. When I copy my profile from the older netbook, how do I know which folder to put it into.

I need to set up Profile Manager on a completely closed network that has no Internet access at all. I can sneaker-net files into the network if I need to.
Profile Manager (and Lion Server in general) seems to need outside access to complete setup and I've been unable to find any meaningful answers.

Firefox doesn't open, but is open in Processes in Task Manager, not even profile manager opens up for Firefox opens up. Please help

I'm using Vista, 32 bit - not even downloading the beta version of Firefox 4 helps; it downloads (just like the regular version of Firefox, 3.4) and I can install it, but trying to run it gives me nothing - no warning, no text; it just doesn't open up, but is still visible in my start menu, programs folder and in task manager. And not even profile manager opens up.

Make sure that you do not remove your personal data when you uninstall Firefox. Then you won't lose personal data stored in a different location in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder].

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks Firefox. 
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox.
