Use a home DVD player - connect audio and video(YC) outputs to a Canopus AD 100 converter - connect the firewire of the AD100 to your Mac - open log and capture in FCP (select non controllable device) - play the DVD with your remote control - pause - then click capture now - play the DVD. Yes. You'll need a video DVD authoring application like iDVD and an external optical drive. I suggest a 3rd party optical drive as the Apple Superdrive is limited to USB 2 which has rather slow through put. Get one with USB 3 or FW.
Export a slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar. For iPhoto 9.4.3 and earlier select Size = Medium or Large. For iPhoto 9.5 and later selct 480p. Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Or open iDVD, select a theme, create a slideshow in iDVD and add the photos from iPhoto via the Media Browser in iDVD.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com. Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides themes from iDVD 5-7. The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:

How to create a DVD in iDVD6 without menu (there are several options)
1. Easy. Drop your iMovie in the auto-play box in iDVD's Map View, then set your auto-play item (your movie) to loop continuously.
Disadvantage. The DVD plays until you hit stop on the remote
2. Still easy. If you don't want your (auto-play) movie to loop, you can create a black theme by replacing the background of a static theme with a black background and no content in the drop-zone (text needs to be black as well).
Disadvantage. The menu is still there and will play after the movie. You don't see it, but your disc keeps spinning in the player.
3. Still quite easy but takes more time. Export the iMovie to DV tape, and then re-import using One-Step DVD.
Disadvantage. One-Step DVD creation has been known to be not 100% reliable.
4. (My preferred method) Easy enough but needs 3rd party software. Toast lets you burn your iMovie to DVD without menu - just drag the iMovie project to the Toast Window and click burn.
Disadvantage. you'll need to spend some extra $$ for the software. In Toast, you just drop the iMovie project on the Window and click Burn.
5. The "hard way". Post-production with myDVDedit (free-ware)
Tools necessary. myDVDedit ( www.mydvdedit.com )
• create a disc image of your iDVD project, then double-click to mount it.
• Extract the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders to a location of your choice. select the VIDEO_TS folder and hit Cmd + I to open the Inspector window
• Set permissions to "read & write" and include all enclosed items; Ignore the warning.
• Open the VIDEO_TS folder with myDVDedit. You'll find all items enclosed in your DVD in the left hand panel.
• Select the menu (usually named VTS Menu) and delete it
• Choose from the menu File > Test with DVD Player to see if your DVD behaves as planned. If it works save and close myDVDedit.
• Before burning the folders to Video DVD, set permissions back to "read only", then create a disc image burnable with Disc Utility from a VIDEO_TS folder using Laine D. Lee's DVD Imager.

Possible to install HD-DVD Burner in iMac G4?

Hi, I was wondering if it is at all possible to install HD-DVD burner in a iMac G4? Anyone tried this?

I know that Toast Titanium 8 for Mac supports Blu-Ray burning (Apple's loyalties are in the Blu-Ray not the HD DVD camp) but the G4 is not a processor I'd ever want to be encoding HD in. The G4 wouldn't even be up to playing discs. So I think you could do it with a Blu-Ray drive but you shouldn't do it. I hate having to wait whilst an SD DVD encodes HD is at least four times longer. Remember Apple hasn't put a HD spec burner in even it's 8-core Mac Pro yet!

I have a PDF file which seems to have been created using acrobat 8.1 file maker for Word. Is it possible to edit this file using acrobat 9 pro extended and if so how do i go about this..
When i select the tools menu, no options become available and there is no secuirty enabled on the file.

If you have Acrobat Pro Extended that is a PC Product. You've clicked on wrong Forum. Go back to main page the click on Acrobat and choose PC forum. Extend has such features as XML based PDF Forms which Acrobat Pro Mac can't handle.

Ability to edit a DVD created on other equipment.

I have an old video my mother had made from 8mm film. I bought a RCA DVD Recorder/Player and copied the video to DVD. When I loaded the DVD into the Mac, it plays, but I can't figure out how to edit the video stream (lots of bouncing around and heads cut off). Is there a product out there that will allow you to edit a DVD that wasn't created in either iMovie or iDVD? I'm still planning on duping the videos, but sure would like to edit them down.

I downloaded the trial s/w and tried to convert the files, but I keep getting a message that the file format is unsupported. I tried to send a question to DVDxDV's webite, but it kept timing out and when you go to their forums, they want everything but your SSN. They don't need to know my birthday to provide support.
The files I find on the DVD are VIDEO_RM, which contains VIDEO_RM.BUP/DAT & IFO fiels, as well as a ZRN_DISC.DAT file
and
VIDEO_TS, which contains: VIDEO_TS.BUP/.IFO/.VOB AND VTS010.BUP/.IFO &.VOB files.
I don't need the audio files, just the video and I don't know enough about the tech specs for video to figure out what's happening.
Any help would be appreciated.

I'm using google sites for some of my low price costumers, and i was wondering what options exsist to use dreamveaver to update some of the gadgets like the text gadget.
I know google does not support connecting fully with deamweaver or any other editor for that matter, but are there any plans for doing this in the furture, and what minot things can be doen at the moment ?

To answer your specific question "Is it possible to edit a google site using dreamweaver" the answer is NO. The reason is that Google does not allow uploading of web pagesusing any means such as FTP. Google provies hundreds of templates to choose from and like you I don't like them at all.
Microsoft had a free service long time ago that allowed you to upload your own pages but this has been stopped for new customers. New customers are required to sign up to their Office 365 Service <http://tinyurl.com/bucc6t4> and this costs money. However, you can build and host a website with a custom domain for your business.using their free software called Microsoft Sharepoint Designer 2010 <http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=16573>. I believe they also have a 64 bit version to download but I only use 32 bit on my 64 bit systems!!

You can change the name in the Pages preferences > General. The time you have to delete each time.

Is it possible to edit a vector shape created in Illustrator and pasted into Pages 4.1? I can adjust the transparency, scale it, even put a drop shadow on it, but I can't change the color which is all I want to do.

It has a drawing tool at the end of the Shapes menu but it is oddball and a little clumsy compared with what Illustrator offers and it only edits Pages' native objects.

How to edit a DVD

I moved some old VHS tapes onto a DVD and it plays OK in the DVD Player. The only files on the DVD disc is a folder called VIDEO_TS with many files inside that seem to match chapters in the separate VHS tapes.
I do not seem to be able to move anything into iMovie or IDVD by any drag or import method. What am I missing?

I just had a huge struggle with this, too. I'm far from an expert, but I will share what I've learned.
Apparently, you can't get the files off the DVD to edit in iMovie. You need additional software. Two options are Popcorn and Toast. Neither are cheap, though. Popcorn is about $50 and Toast is about $100. Be sure to look on Amazon at the reviews. Popcorn didn't get very good reviews. Though, reading them, I figured the problems people had may not have any connection with what I wanted to do. Anyway, I didn't want to pay $50 to be able to edit my DVDs.
I was told to look for a program called Handbrake. I downloaded this and went to get my DVDs. Ran into some problems (don't even remember exactly what at the moment) so I went to the Handbrake FAQs. It said that it didn't recommend using Handbrake to get DVDs to iMovie. So I took Handbrake off.
That's when I discovered MPEG Streamclip. This finally worked for me. However, you do need a Quicktime extension that costs $20, so it's not totally free.
Here's one thing I discovered though: You load your DVD into MPEG Streamclip. Then you need to export them to DV, which is a format you can use in iMovie. You need to select in option to separate it into segments, which is better for iMovie.
After you have done this, go to the files. If it split it into, say, three clips, the files might look like this:
family.dv
family.dv 001
family.dv 002
You need to go in and rename them so that they have the extension of "dv" otherwise iMovie won't know what to do with them. So they should look like:
family1.dv
family2.dv
family3.dv

Theoretically, YES, but they would need to be in exactly the same format and have the same filename. Why would you be wanting to do this? If the new files are not the same playing length, this could potentially throw out any synchronisation with other elements in the presentation.

Sure, just use Handbrake to encode the DVD movie into a format that is playable on iTunes and on your iPad:
