Is it possible to edit a Video_TS folder?

Hi All,
I'm wondering if there is any way to edit a Video_TS folder that has been created by DVDSP4. The project was delivered a while ago, but the client asked if the default button on the menu could be changed from one item to another. That's the only change that has to be made. I'm hoping there's some way to just edit an entry in one of the VOB files and then just burn again.
Thanks,
Chris

Just a word of warning. These require you know the DVD spec. One small mistake will ruin the disc. Make sure you work on a copy.

  • Video_TS folder wrecks it

Learning DVD studio pro, today I used Compressor to go straight to DVD pro, but it stops with Video_TS folder which I must remove. I've unsuccessfully been stopped at least a dozen times until I gave up with this TS folder. I know what the folder is but why hasn't Compressor etc, resolved this before going to DVDpro. I can burn a DVD from Compressor fine, but DVDpro doesn't want to help.

You use the running time based DVD presets in Compressor to make a MPEG2 video file and an AC3 audio file for DVD SP. It is not possible to import a VIDEO_TS folder directly into DVD Studio Pro.

  • In the DVD VIDEO_TS folder can I edit a link for redirect?

I trashed my DVD studio files and movie clips and don't want to have to recapture and edit in final cut pro because one of the links on the DVD isnt directed to the right place.
Is there a way that i can do that in some type of editor with the files DVDSP created in the VIDEO_TS folder?
OR, is there a utility that will allow me to recover the files i trashed?
    Thanks

www.mydvdedit.com & www.dvdafteredit.com are two Mac tools that let you edit Video_TS folders (makee sure to make copies before working on them.) mydvdedit is shareware while dvdafteredit if full commercial software.
There are also ways of capturing assets off the DVD/conversion utlilities. MpegStream Clip and HandBrake are two items which work on unencrypted DVDs

  • From EncoreCS3 DVD-9 VIDEO_TS folder to replication house via DDP (mastering steps in GEAR etc.)

Ok, the "solution" or steps I'm trying to provide here is not complete, just the way I see it now. We will do it this way as we want to deliver the DVD-9 dual layer DDP master to the replication house. The intention is that this should be corrected or fullfilled in order so that in the end we have a proper guide for everyone here, so people, read this, and share you info and if there is anything to be corrected or tips for making things work better.
    Here we go:
Let's assume we have created successfully a VIDEO_TS folder from Encore CS3, meaning we have not set a layer break yet, but otherwise we have a working product.
STEP 1. SET THE LAYER BREAK IN GEAR Mastering Edition, guide http://www.gearsoftware.com/howtoguides/dvdvideobreakpoint.cfm
Possible problems: non-seamless cells don't exist in the layer break window
Possible solution: Use PGCEdit to change the cell type from seamless to non-seamless. This happens by opening the VIDEO_TS folder with PGCEdit and then double clicking on the VTS which holds the layer break point "window" (the VTS you chose in GEAR). Then you deselect the seamless joint checkbox in the cell (making it non-seamsless) you want to use as the layer break. Then you press OK and save the DVD. After that you create a new project in GEAR, do the layerbreak calculations based on the newly changed VIDEO_TS (with the non-seamless cell) and re-open the selected VTS_xx_0.IFO now in IFOEdit where you can now find the a proper non-seamless cell address for the layer break. Now you should be able to finish setting the non-seamless layer break in GEAR.
Question: Do we have to and do we need to have the When saving, leave at least 32K of space between IFO and BUP" from the Options to be on when we do this in seamless joint change and save the dvd in PGCedit?
STEP 2. CREATE DDP IMAGE FROM THE PROJECT, guide: http://www.gearsoftware.com/howtoguides/dvdvideotoddp.cfm
STEP 3. TEST THE DDP IMAGE BY BURNING IT ON DVD-R DVD-9
First you need to restore the DDP Image you just created, guide http://www.gearsoftware.com/howtoguides/restoreddpimage.cfm
Burn the restored VIDEO_TS folder to DVD-9 with GEAR, guide
    http://www.gearsoftware.com/howtoguides/burndvdmovies.cfm
STEP 4. SEE HOW THE PRODUCT LOOKS LIKE WITH THE LAYER BREAK SET
-If the product looks good and the layer break makes you satisfied, deliver the DDP image to replication factory for replication.
.............Ok people, share your thoughts if something is wrong or if you got points to remember, answers to the questions given, suggest changes, or even better, write here a better version of this guide? The aim would be in the end having a guide which says all the required things in order to achieve a successfull DVD-9 project.

Neil, once again, thanks a lot.
    >The seamless/non-seamless question is a bit of a non-issue unless you are using multiple camera angles, as this is all it refers to. Unless you have multiple angles, ignore this completely.
In Multiple Angles (unsupported in Encore anyway) Seamless means there is no pause in playback when switching between angles. That is all.
So, I really thought the seamless/non-seamless would have affect on the actually layer switching when playing the DVD, so that it might affect the slight layer switch pause time. It's just that the gear guide says that you need to find a non-seamless break in the IFOedit, and that's it, so I guess it is a bit missleading there in that GEAR guide. But, I'm glad you cleared this out that this only has to do something with the multiangle views.
    >The 32kb of space is a "must-tick" option, otherwise you stand a high chance of having the master rejected by the factory. Nero is a bugger for running these 2 files (Video_TS.IFO & Video_TS.BUP) into what the player will see as one file.
Ok, so unless you use PGCEdit, this should be already ok in your project, right? But if you use PGCEdit for something like changing the seamless joint for multiple angles to your VIDEO_TS folder, this selection should be always on in PGCEdit.
    >One gotcha though - early versions of the GEAR Spreadsheet for calculating the layer break seem to give the VTS to use the start sector from as VTS_xx_0.VOB - this is wrong.
Yeah, luckily this seems to be fixed now in the GEAR guide calculator.
Another way I've found that is useful what comes to the selecting the layer break from the layer break "window" for your project is this:
In order to know exactly where the cell starts in your video, you can use IMGBurn to preview the cells, so that you can choose the most suitable cell from the "layer break window". This means following the SET THE LAYER BREAK IN GEAR Mastering Edition guide to the point where you have found out the "layer break window". Then when going to the IFOedit you can see the cells that fall in to this window. Mark them down in your notepad and open the VIDEO_TS in IMGBurn, set the BUILD mode, choose to burn the VIDEO_TS folder and proceed the workflow ahead until you get to the set the layer break window. In this window you can preview the cells of the project, being able to see the videos of the cells. Go through the cells you marked in the IFOedit and find the cell that starts in the least disturbing place where the possible pause might occur during the moment when your dvd player changes the layer. When you've chose your cell, cancel the process and continue what you were doing in the GEAR layer break guide.
If there are any other methods for this test purpose, or if there is something I'm missing, please share?
Question about choosing the layer break cell: Is it the fact that no matter how you have bitcalculated your project size when building it in Encore, the layer break window that the GEAR spreadsheet provides you, doesn't take this into account at all? Meaning, if you choose the biggest cell number from the layer break window to be the layer break cell, it will go over the 4% overhead at the outer layer edge? If this is the case, you shouldn't use the last cells from the layer break window at all? And should we always try to choose the cell with the smallest number no matter what (in order to make the layer break as far from the layer's outer edge)?

  • Create DDP image from VIDEO_TS folder

Hi. I have a mastered DVD-R for DVD-5 replication. The replicator is requesting a DDP image - can I create a DDP image with DVDSP4 from the VIDEO_TS folder? Or from a disc image of the DVD? I don't have the DVDSP project - just the disc. The replicator is waiting! Any help greatly appreciated!!

    Eric,
OK. It may seem like I took off a little on you, and it's true, I’ll admit. But let me fully pour out the real reason that caused my replies, and address the underlying injustice that I believe you’ve done to me personally, to King and Jonathan in the threads here, and to the DVD industry as a whole; not to mention to yourself.
I saw your offers to do jobs here for two good authors. The first thing I did was to go to your brand new website. I was shocked and dismayed to see some of its contents.
    Where do I begin?
(For those who want to follow along: http://www.poweragemedia.com/services.html )
First, your “one man shop just wanting to help out and not charge”, is advertising on that site that you have Eclipse, MEI DVD-Video Verifier, Sonic Scenarist, and player banks – all capabilities I have, and that I know you are not licensed for and/or do not have - any of them. So, It seemed that site was trying to say it had the same capabilities I have.
    Unbelievable!
On your “Services” page under “Pre-Mastering and Disc Verification” you say:
“With a final MEI and Eclispe report, you can be assured your title will be replicated without errors or issues. These reports check your disc's file structure and DVD specification compliance. In addition, we delivery all our titles on Type IV DLT tape - the replication standard.”
Btw, two mistakes with the above quote – you misspell Eclipse, and no report ever checked any file structure or DVD Specification compliance.
If this were true what you advertise, and that you indeed, have Eclipse and MEI, then you would have never heard a peep out of me, and you would be offering King and Jonathan a great service.
But since I am the one with this capability in house (it doesn’t work cost and time-wise to try to contract these several testing services to others; that's why I can offer such a reasonable price to everyone), and am licensed with those tools, to see someone else I know that doesn’t have them, advertises to my market that they do, does cause a situation (to put it mildly).
So, I repeat from my last reply, ‘what are you thinking, Eric?’
And then, under the “Quality Control and Player Compatibility Testing” heading on the same Services page you say:
“With several year experience and testing under out belts, your disc will have the widest player compatibility worldwide. We've developed our player banks based on proven data gathered over the last several years. This service was once only offered to major theatrical releases until now.”
Since you seem to not have been truthful with the other capabilities you advertise, I’m going to have to question that you even have a player bank (I know you don’t have player “banks”). Oh, and you know that I’ve been offering player bank testing services for at least two and a half years already, why would you say “This service was once only offered to major theatrical releases until now”?
The other services on your site, especially your “Complete Re-authoring Services” where you say:
“Our most unique service! We Specialize in re-authoring or amending discs from which the source files have been lost or corrupted. Using only your VIDEO_TS or image file, we can add logos, change menu attributes, speed up functionality and compatibility and even add or change subtitles.
This service is often useful to distributors who have recently bought older titles and wish to add their current logo or make other amendments to a disc.”
This is also especially dangerous, as you’re talking about making radical changes to the structure of third party clients’ DVDs, and with no tools to check to see what you’ve done is correct!? Early on, during DVDAfterEdit’s development, I was testing customer’s projects to make sure their changes were good; some of them went into runs of over a million. The idea for TFDVD Research Labs sprung up during this time, as I could see I was helping unleash a great power, but I knew a lot of folks could get in big trouble. I spent the $10,000 to get the MEI License and dongle. I would be disrespecting my customers if I didn’t have it.
Importing a simple VOB into another DVD, by itself, can cause lots of errors, if you don't know where else in the data to make some setting changes. I better stop with the description right here of what all could go wrong with adjustments in DVDAfterEdit, if one doesn't know what they're doing and have the verification tools.
Am I not being consistent here? If I ‘jump’ on you for simply writing a third parties Image to DLT without verification tools, wouldn’t I be amiss if I didn’t call you on your falsely advertised ability to make and then verify massive changes to a good authors DVDs?
So, Eric, what am I to think? How am I to respond? Do you see how I might think of this website of yours as ‘stealing’ from me, due to even a perceived 'illegal competition' (of course I know you're not competing with me!)? For sure, as is, your website takes from me my site's uniqueness, as far as listed capabilities, even if your site the way it is a lie.
I’d be more than happy to help you get licensed with those tools. For sure, there would go your “do it for free” attitude in a heartbeat, when you lay out that kind of expenditure! And then you could be right with any clients; not to mention me.
And as far as whether or not all projects should go through me, you’re right, they don’t have to; only the “doomed from the outset” Images should be sent to me, so I can prevent disaster for the production company (I’ve seen three company’s go under over the years from Disc playback blowups in the market and repeated Image submission failures; and too many bad studio/client/lost client situations to count). But since the authoring studio, nor you, is going to know which Images are the bad ones, it follows that they all be sent to me; which is the best advise someone can give an author that inquires - trying to be a 'nanny' won’t help them; both of you are put at risk.
So, I hope it's clearer now: That you started offering to do services here, and at the same time put up a new website with fictitious major capabilities, the whole of which only I offer in our industry; I felt it my duty, as well as to act for legitimate business reasons, to say something.
I fully expect you to make things right,
    Thanks,

  • Editing from VIDEO_TS dvd content...

I need to edit the content of several old DVD's.  I have successfully transferred the content from all the DVD's to my hard drive.  I am able to edit all of the content in Premiere normally except for the content of one particular DVD.   If I drag the VIDEO_TS folder from this DVD into VLC it plays perfectly.  It also, of course, plays perfectly directly off the dvd.  If I drag the VIDEO_TS folder into Premiere it imports properly but the content is a mess.  For example, the video clips are all truncated, the audio does not align etc.
Notes:  the problem DVD is the only one that transferred to my hard drive and did not create an AUDIO_TS folder.
    Any thoughts?
    thanks,

  • How can my ibook convert a VIDEO_TS folder or VIDEO_TS.IFO file to a .dv fi

5/27/2009. how can my ibook convert a DVD's VIDEO_TS folder or VIDEO_TS.IFO file to a .dv file? That is, in order to do some editing on it? Will QuickTime pro do this? Will Roxio Toast do this? How??? Many thanks. C. Yopst, Chicago area.

Use [MPEG Streamclip|http://www.squared5.com> (free) to convert the VOB files in the VIDEO_TS folder to DV. You will also need the [MPEG-2 component|http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2> ($20) to be able to open and convert these files.
This is of course assuming you have full rights to the footage or permission from the copyright holder to use the files.

  • Making copy of a DVD that has no VIDEO_TS folder

A friend of mine made me a DVD on a home DVD video recorder. The DVD plays fine. However, when I mount it and take a look inside, there is no VIDEO_TS folder. There is not anything at all! I want to extract part of the DVD but don't know where to begin without a VIDEO_TS folder to view the VOB files. None of my usual backup or VOB extraction apps seem to work. ANy suggestions?
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Mitch

If it is a video DVD then those files MUST be there!
You need to convert the VOB files back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/mpegstreamclip.html
which is free, but you must also have the Apple mpeg2 plugin :
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/
    which is a mere $20.
Another possibility is to use DVDxDV:
    http://www.dvdxdv.com/NewFolderLookSite/Products/DVDxDV.overview.htm
    which costs $25.
For the benefit of others who may read this thread:
Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal.

  • DVD Player no longer plays a VIDEO_TS folder.

I used to be able to play a VIDEO_TS folder that I had ripped from a DVD into a hard disk. There is still "Open DVD Media" on the File menu, but when I select a VIDEO_TS folder it pops up an error window: "There was a problem opening the media. The media type is not supported." This always worked fine before Mountain Lion.
    Any ideas?

    Check this post.

If you have Acrobat Pro Extended that is a PC Product. You've clicked on wrong Forum. Go back to main page the click on Acrobat and choose PC forum. Extend has such features as XML based PDF Forms which Acrobat Pro Mac can't handle.

  • Burn a dvd from a VIDEO_TS  folder

Hi all, this is sily, i have done this before i know i have, i cannot do it now !
I have a Folder named VIDEO_TS on my hard drive, it contains the contents of a video that i want to burn onto a DVD DL disc
So far today i have wasted 4 disc's trying 4 different programs, including Burn and Terminal, but nothing works.
the video plays fine on my Lap Top.
I just dont understand why i am struggling. i have even tried a Windows program "imgburn" but still no good
i dont mind buying an App for the job, but which one. I do not want to waste any more disc's, they aint cheap !.
    tim

You need video authoring burn software; I use either Roxio Toast or iDVD:
It is no longer included with the OS, but you can buy a retail version of iLife 11 (or 09 for that matter) from online retailers; it contains iDVD - in my humble opinion, the very best burn software because of its' customizable menus and themes. You can make your masterpiece. I don't know how it would work since you already have a Video_TS folder (which is what you can create with iDVD), so you can't go backwards. In this case, Roxio Toast is the best idea (but no customizable or snazzy menus). I do not have the Pro version - I tried the blu-ray plugin and tested it; could not see a difference on my HDTV, so I decided to burn as close to HD as I could (camera shoots video in 1920X1080p) and forego the expensive blu-ray disks.
For future use, I'd recommend looking into iDVD as well:

(you can find it on ebay as well)

A friend of mine had a DVD Demo Reel that was damaged and wouldn't play, so i was able to rip the files (VIDEO_TS) folder onto my hard drive from the DVD using MacTheRipper.
Is there a program (preferably free) that i can burn the VIDEO_TS folder to a DVD so it will be playable in a DVD Player? I used to use Discribe to do it (came free with my ext burner) but i can't get that program to work on my new MacBookPro.

To answer your specific question "Is it possible to edit a google site using dreamweaver" the answer is NO.  The reason is that Google does not allow uploading of web pagesusing any means such as FTP.  Google provies hundreds of templates to choose from and like you I don't like them at all.
Microsoft had a free service long time ago that allowed you to upload your own pages but this has been stopped for new customers.  New customers are required to sign up to their Office 365 Service <http://tinyurl.com/bucc6t4> and this costs money.  However, you can build and host a website with a custom domain for your business.using their free software called Microsoft Sharepoint Designer 2010 <http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=16573>.  I believe they also have a 64 bit version to download but I only use 32 bit on my 64 bit systems!!
    Hope this helps.
