Is it possible to embedd other Non YouTube videos on iWeb sites?

You know how there's a YouTube Widget that lets you easily embed YouTube videos on iWeb sites? I imagine this Widget doesn't work for none YouTube videos (e.g. MetCafe), so how do we embed those on our web site pages?

Use an HTML Snippet and an iFrame code.....

There are two versions of the same movie on this test page. One uses the Vimeo code and the other uses an iFrame code with the URL to the Video.

  • How to link to a non-youtube video

I'm having great difficulty linking to a video....a Non-youtube video. I have a video on another platform that has html embed codes, but they don't seem to be working in Acrobat. Does Adobe not allow linking to non-youtube videos? What are the parameters acrobat needs in order to display a non-youtube linked video?
btw: I know I can embed the video in the doc, but that is not what I need. I want to link to the video from a location on the internet (CDN).

If you are linking to a video, why would the format matter? You're  linking to a video player elsewher. It would be using a flash player  most likely.
As Steve says above, you should use the Video Tool to draw a rectangle on the page where you want the video to appear, and in the dialog window that opens, enter the fully-qualified URL into the "Browse" field. The URL must end in a valid extension type for video that can be played by Flash Player (such as .FLV or .MP4) and you should link to the video file itself rather than the web page of the player application. If you have a video on a dynamic URL so there isn't an extension at the end, you'll need to re-craft the URL to add one, for example by passing a dummy variable.
If for example there's a video in FLV format delivered from a url
    http://www.notarealwebsite.web/player?video=1234
then to get the Add Video tool to accept it, you'll have to enter something like
    http://www.notarealwebsite.web/player?video=1234&somevariable=.FLV

Is there a security setting or code I can use to prevent others from seeing video content? I recall that my nano has a combination I can set but isn't that feature a complete access block out?

Thank you all. That is what I feared.

  • Youtube Video in iWeb "html Snippet" is Blank?

The html Snippet Widget shows an unhappy face icon when I publish the site to the internet in preview form. In iWeb itself the video shows up as a blank box on my site when I load the "embed" text from the Youtube video into the black box window and hit "apply".
Here is the Youtube Embed text if it helps to analyze it. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/GdC9WLhUum0?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I can successfully load the Youtube Widget but I dislike the 4 x 3 format with excessively large top/bottom black bands and control bar. I prefer the 16 x 9 format of the html Snippet, but it needs to function.
    Help please.
    Dan

Okay, it is simple.  The video will not work because there are mistakes in the code that you have posted - if the code is incorrect then it won't work.
Where you have src="//www.youtube.com/embed, the code should in fact be as follows:
    src="http://www.youtube.com/embed
I have just opened iWeb on my Mac and copied and pasted the code, but then changing it to http:// and the video works perfectly - comes up with someone in a canoe and is entitled River Discipline.

  • The easiest way to put a YouTube video in iWeb...

Whew! I am so stinkin' proud of myself. Now this tip isn't for you techno gurus out there. This is for the person who is as clueless about half the files on their computer as I am.
I have a blog. I tried to use iWebMore...I've tried iWebEnhancer...etc, etc. I just can't figure out how to import YouTube with those. I've got major iDisk issues that I cannot identify much less resolve.
So here's the tip. A couple weeks ago I downloaded a widget called TubeSock for YouTube videos. I finally opened it up to see what it was and guess what? All you do is copy the url of the video right into Tubesock and "save" it to "video for Mac" and "add to movies folder." Ta-da! So then in iWeb you just insert a movie clip and it's right in there. Drop and drag!
If you download TubeSock for free, then it only records 30 seconds of the video. But registering it for $15 lets you download the entire video. (Some of us will pay anything for easy!)
Let me know if you're as happy about this as I am because I cannot BELIEVE I figured something out on my own!!!
Btw, the url to Tubesock is http://stinkbot.com/Tubesock
    ~G

Great find Gina. The best thing about using uTube on your site is that it doesn't use up your bandwidth. And I can also tell you that once you figure out how to do one thing with iWeb the rest comes very easy. Hopefully in the next version of iWeb you will be able to add a piece of HTML code right in the site, rather than having to add it post publish. Keep up the good work!
P.S. If your interested in the way to add a uTube video in your iweb site just post your question in here. There are a lot of talented people in this forum willing to share information and ideas.

  • Trouble Embedding Youtube Videos in iWeb '09

I am trying to embed a Youtube video into my webpage but when I click on "add html snippet" or drag the youtube widget onto the page, all I get is what looks like a text box without the area to add the embed code. I had no problem with this in '08 but '09 will not recognize any of the videos that I had previously embedded.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Try the following:
    1 - close iWeb.
2 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
3 - go to your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete the contents.
    4 - reboot.
5 - launch iWeb and try again.

  • Removing ads from YouTube videos on iweb

I would like to post YouTube videos on my website, but many include pop up ads that I want to eliminate since I cannot control the content of the ads. Is there a way to disable the ads so they don't show up when you click the YouTube on my published site? Thanks for the help!

Those are from Google adsense, which means that particular Youtube account hs been aproved for adsense ads wth there Youtube account and they cannot be removed except by Google. The viewer has the option of clicking the little X in the corner to not watch the ad.

  • How to play other non-mainstram video formats

    merry xmas guys!
former MS user, now in Mac, with quicktime, how can I play other video formats like - .rm, .asf, .wmv etc..
or any other software recommend to cover all of them?
    cheers,
    Jake

    Merry Xmas to you too!
These are the downloads and the settings you need in order to view/hear/play pretty much everything that the net can throw at you: The setup described below has proved repeatedly successful on both PPC and Intel macs, but nothing in life carries a guarantee!
Download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:
    RealPlayer 11.1 for Mac from:
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/15540
Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.telestream.net/flip4mac-wmv/overview.htm (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
    Perian from http://perian.org/
You should read this support page http://perian.org/#support in case you need to delete older codecs.
The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
NOTE: On December 8, 2009 Adobe announced plans to drop Flash Player security support next year for Mac owners whose machines run PowerPC processors.
"Adobe will be discontinuing support of PowerPC-based G3 computers and will no longer provide security updates after the Flash Player 10.1 release," said Adobe in the same advisory that spelled out the seven patches. "This unavailability is due to performance enhancements that cannot be supported on the older PowerPC architecture."
After Flash Player 10.1, which is slated to ship in the first half of 2010, Adobe's newest software will run only on Intel-based Macs.
    http://www.macworld.co.uk/news/index.cfm?email&NewsID=28011
You should also consider the Shockwave Player, which displays Web content that has been created by Adobe Director, much used for multimedia: http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/513
You should also ensure that you have downloaded and installed the correct version for your Mac of Security Update 2009-001 (and for Tiger only, 2009-002 and 003). (N.B. Security Updates require both a restart and a permission repair.)
In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them). However it should be noted that Perian is not an internet plugin and will not play DivX files imbedded on a website. For that you will need the DivX Player browser plugin available from http://www.divx.com/divx/mac/
Now go to Safari Preferences/Security, and tick the boxes under Web Content (all 4 of them) to enable Java.
Lastly open Audio Midi Setup (which you will find in the Utilities Folder of your Applications Folder) and click on Audio Devices. Make sure that both Audio Input and Audio Output, under Format, are set to 44100 Hz, and that you have selected 'Built in Audio'.
Important: Now repair permissions and restart.
You should also consider having the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.
There is an additional 'fix' you could try if you are having problems with Flash and Quicktime, depending on which type of Mac you have:
On Intel Macs, make sure that you are not running Safari in Rosetta. You can check this, and change it, in the Get Info window.
On PPC Macs, go to the Hard Disk/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, and drag the file 'QuickTime Plugin.webplugin' to the desktop. Quit and restart Safari. If things have improved you can trash that file. If they haven't put it back, as the lack of this plug-in can cause QT content in some widgets to cease functioning.
And there is an additional kid on the block: SilverLight. Microsoft has created their own version of what a replacement for Flash could be. You can read more about it here:
    http://silverlight.net/
So, if you go to any sites that have been designed for this new Silverlight stuff, you can download the plug-in from here (but make certain that you are downloading SilverLight v.1.0 for OS X (10.4.8 upwards) if you are using a PPC Mac, but even this will not work with Safari 4. Version 2 only works with Intel Macs and does work with Safari 4:
    http://silverlight.net/GetStarted/
Recommendation: Close all applications before installing any of the above, repair permissions, reboot, and repair permissions again.

  • Will other non-supported video cards work with premiere pro?

I have some older Dell Optiplex 755 and 760's that have limited space for graphics cards.  Most everything that I find that will fit or I can afford are not on the Premiere Pro system requirements list of supported cards.  Will others work?

Initial benchmark results with AMD cards show they are about two times slower than equally priced nVidia cards.
From: Tweakers Page - What video card to use?
To say that one solution is 2X faster across the board on comparably spec'ed cards would be incorrect.
    Based on ...???
AMD and Intel cards used with the perpetual license are at least 10 x slower than nVidia cards when hardware MPE is turned on.

  • Embedding YouTube videos in iWeb 08 -

Is this possible? Can you point me in the right direction if it can be done on iWeb 1.1.2?
    Thanks!

I think you need to clarify which version of iWeb you're talking about. iWeb '08 is not 1.1.2 — iWeb '08 is 2.x
In iWeb, click on the iWeb menu and choose +About iWeb+. If the version is indeed 1.1.2, then you should post your qstn in the +"iWeb (Previous to iWeb '08)"+ forum here:

  • Why do the YouTube videos on my site not have sound?

I guess Youtube changed their embed code or something? But the videos I embedded on my site have no sound at all. Am I missing something here?
    here's an example:
    http://baby-recipes.com/butternut-squash-baby-food-recipe/

I have exactly the same problem, I only bought my ipod when 1.0.2 was the current version, my guess is that somehow the software that the ipod uses to play sound files is only suitable for those listening to Celine Dion. By that I mean, even with the EQ off the bass sometimes peaks, and guitar riffs cause a sort of crackling noise, and if you're listening to something where the bass guitar plays a heavy role in the song, Korn for example, you get the occasional speaker pop while it's playing. I've also found the same crackling happens during powerful vocal lines too. On Wikipedia it says to reduce the volume of the mp3 in itunes before synching it to your ipod, I haven't yet tried it myself though.

  • Embedded YouTube videos always result in "An error occurred, please try again later."

No matter what website I'm no, all embedded videos on youtube pages result in the player window loading everything but the video (buttons, timebar, related videos, etc) but never the video itself. Instead it's a black box with "An error occurred, please try again later" displayed.
If I go to the video's page on the actual YouTube, it plays without a problem. Embedded videos that aren't from youtube work fine, too. This only occurs with YouTube videos embedded in other non-youtube pages. This only occurs with FF (the past few versions, too), Chrome works just fine, and on several different computers (XP, Vista x64, and 7 x64).

  • Super slow YouTube/Videos

I just got the new 4th generation iPod touch 32gb, with ios 4.2.1, a few days ago. I synced it without a problem. My problem is that YouTube and videos are very slow. I try to watch a video in YouTube about 2 min long, and it loads it very slowly, or it loads about 15 seconds of it and then refuses to load anymore. My wifi is strong at about 2.4 mb/s download. When comparing the same video's load time against my old 2g iPod, the 2g loaded the entire videO in a couple seconds. They were both definitely on the same wifi network and there was no other traffic when I did the test. The same problem happens on most Internet non YouTube videos. When I go to the YouTube mobile site on my 4g it is somewhat faster (with the HD) box on, but not much. When I deselect the red HD box, it is usually faster but sometimes stops loading in the middle of the video. I have restarted the iPod, quit all apps that might be using wifi, turned wifi on and off, reconnected to the network, and reset the network settings. Nothing has worked. Any help?

I too have this problem only with youtube, when I use the programme (that came pre-installed) it freezes when loading a video and I can only play the first few seconds of any video nothing more. I have upped my broadband to 2mb and changed my router to the latest apple airport express n version but I still have this same problem - that I cannot view a video in you tube. I cant determine if it is a hardware or software problem but now I am completely baffled as to how to fix it - any suggestions??
I have a 1st gen itouch with updated software 2.2, but I think I had the problem before I updated anyway.
my speeds are roughly 1935k up and 256k down (my computer is roughly the same but no problem with youtube)
