Is it possible to enable page scrolling by default?

It is such a simple, basic thing, that is what makes it so annoying...
Opening a document defaults to 'jumping' page to page as you scroll.  I find that extremely irritating, but no where near as irritating as having to open the view / page display menu EVERY time and enable scrolling.
Please tell me where I can change the default selection, and explain why it is so well hidden....
(Yes, I am overwhelmingly confident that a program like Acrobat is capable of performing such basic tricks as storing user preferences.  For all the money, year after year, it better!  It's bad enough I even had to ask!)

Hey the0bot,
I understand your frustration.
Please open Acrobat and go to "Edit > Preferences > Accessibility" and check mark 'Always use Page Layout Style' and select Single Page Continuous from the drop down menu.
Then, click ok and save your settings and then check.

  • How to make page scroll automatically on click, plz help ASAP

    Hi!
    I need to know how to make a page scroll up or down automatically when i click on an image.
    Too see example click here: http://www.morphix.si/
    I am very new to Dreamweaver and coding, so please be gentle. But I need help A.S.A.P if it's possible! =)
    Thanks!

    Hit F1 (help) and search for Named Anchors.
    The example page is one, very tall page with several named anchors on it.  When you click a button it takes you to the designated anchor on the page.

  • Enabling the scroll bars of the  iView

    Hello all,
    I am creating one portal application which consists of 5 iView and my aim to have all the iViews completely visible on the screen at all the times and make use of the vertical and horizontal scrollbars to allow the user to see the additional data.
    So my question is How to enable the vertical and horizontal scroll bars of the iViews. I have tried this by setting <b>Isolation Method</b> of the iView to <b>"URL"</b> but doing the same i was not able to pass the events from one iView to another.
    Can you suggest me another way of enabling the scroll bars to iView.
    Thanks in advance,
    Prashant

    Hi Prashant,
    There are some other ways for achieveing the same:
    1. Define new Page Layout with 8 blocks of same size as per your requirement, and then place all the iviews in that, one per block. These changes need to be done in PAR file of framework page. (A bit time consuming)
    2. Add iViews to pages such that one page contain one iview. Add all these pages to one page and then set page properties to display every apge completely like page height as full page.
    3. iView height can be kept fixed and then all scroll bars will start appearing.
    This might help you.

  • Safari web page scrolling

    For some strange reason today my Safari browser keeps scrolling to the bottom of the web page by itself every once in a while.  Im not sure whats causing this or how it can be fixed?  Any solutions?

    I may have possibly found the cause of the automatic web page scrolling, it could be due to having a Wacom tablet connected to the USB port on the right side of my laptop.  When I disconnected the USB cable the auto scrolling stopped.  Im wondering if having a USB mouse / tablet plugged in causes the problem and why would it?  Note:  Nothing is touching the tablet when the scrolling happens, my palms are on the keyboard palm area.

  • Working on a ONE PAGE scrolling site but MUSE is WAY slower than normal.

    I downloaded a one page scrolling template from http://qooqee.com/ but it is so slow that I can't even type into text boxes without waiting at least 45 sec. Is there a known issue with MUSE right now or is it related to the template?

    Hi Julie,
    I have seen many cases where that actually is the reason why Muse works slow. It freezes, as evertime it try to access the asset it takes long. Is it possible that you can move them to the same folder as the .muse file is and then check if Muse still runs slow.
    Please update this post with your findings, thanks !

  • Is it possible to enable DOM events from a dynamically inserted QuickTime?

    QuickTime in IE uses an <object> as a 'behaviour' template in order to enable DOM events. The behaviour <object> is referenced from the QuickTime plugin instance with IE's behavior style: style="behavior: url(#idof_behaviorobject)".
    This works great for all QuickTime <object> instances declared before window.onload, but QuickTime <object> instances inserted into the DOM after that do not pick up the DOM events behaviour.
    I do not know exactly how behaviour styles work and what I've read so far hasn't made me any the wiser. Are behaviours called on elements that reference them, only on page load, and therefore can't be picked up later?
    Are there any known workarounds for enabling DOM events from QuickTime objects inserted after page load?
    Just so you know - I've tried various methods of DOM insertion - innerHTML, createElement, and calling iframes with their own html page containing the necessary objects. None of these work for enabling DOM events on insertion after page load.
    ( P.S. I've cross-posted this question on stackoverflow here:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1336678/is-it-possible-to-enable-dom-events-f rom-a-dynamically-inserted-quicktime-object
    If I get a working answer I'll copy it across. )
    Cheers!
    Stephen.

    I found forwarding the impl_processMouseEvent kind of works ... except when the graphics of the transparent child window floats over the owner window's chrome elements - in particular the title bar, minimise/maximise and resized borders won't accept forwarded mouse events this way.
    Not true mouse transparency.

    Spry widgets are pretty rudimentary. I imagine you are
    talking about this
    page:
    http://79.170.40.182/johnholloway.co.uk/performance.html
    It flashes all of the Accordion content as visible first,
    then when the
    script constructor is encountered, it all snaps shut. That is
    pretty typical
    of Spry. You can get around that with some custom
    programming, which the
    Adobe Spry folks might be able to help you with - but you
    should post on the
    Spry forum instead of this one.
    Our widgets do not have this behavior, have lots more
    features and
    automation, but are not free.

    Since you control the application AND the plugin - you can define ANY method of communication you want.  Shared files, shared memory, IPC, named pipes, etc.

  • IS IT POSSIBLE TO ADD A SCROLL PANE TO A PANEL??

    Hi, Im trying to add a scroll pane to a panel but when I compile the code and try to open the form - a 'Illegal Argument Exception' is produced. Can anyone tell me whether it is possible to add a scroll pane the actual panel itself and also the code to do this.
    Many Thanks, Karl.
    I have added some sample code I have created -
    public RequestForm(RequestList inC)throws SQLException{
              inRequestList = inC;
              displayForm();
              displayFields();
              displayButtons();
              getContentPane().add(panel);
              setVisible(true);
         public void displayForm() throws SQLException{
              setTitle("Request Form");
              setSize(600,740);
              // Center the frame
              Dimension dim = getToolkit().getScreenSize();
              setLocation(dim.width/2-getWidth()/2, dim.height/2-getHeight()/2);
              getContentPane().setLayout(new BorderLayout());
              Border etched = BorderFactory.createEtchedBorder();
              panel = new JPanel();
              panel.setLayout( null );
              //panel.setBackground(new Color(1,90,50));
              Border paneltitled = BorderFactory.createTitledBorder(etched,"");
              panel.setBorder(paneltitled);
              scrollPane1 = new JScrollPane(panel);
              scrollPane1.setBounds(0, 0, 600, 740);
              panel.add(scrollPane1);
    }

    Hi all,
    I am still having trouble here. would it be posible to add a scrollpanel to this form? Can anyone provide me with a working piece of code so I see how it actually works.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Windows doesn't like my 1 page scrolling site containing some flash.Please

    Please would anyone with a PC be kind enough to try my one page scrolling site that I am testing:
    http://angelakane.co.uk/scroll3.html
    I am quite keen on the idea of a big one page site that you scroll vertically and horizontally.  I am testing some flash content (3 pages down, 1 & 2 across) which works perfectly well in Safari, Firefox, Opera  but I recently tried it in Explorer after loading Parallels on my mac and it does strange things on the row with the flash.
    Most people I know have macs so I don't know whether the problem is with my set up or whether PCs in general will not cope.
    Anybody any idea why?  I will take out all the flash if it means PCs are going to have problems.
    Thanks.

    Well..I went to your site again today and to be yet honest yet again it is SLOW! I have one off the fastest connections to date (for my line of work) and I lost my patience waiting. With today's standards on speed it was slow. I will also hate to tell you that your idea of such a large one page site is not new. This is why the web is what it is today. Studies have shown that users lose their patience with scrolling which is why you are seeing more and more sites even trying to avoid vertical scrolling. If you look around the web you will also notice that content such as text are also getting narrower within pages...meaning that the users eye does not like to travel long distances west to east while reading text. Shorter lines and longer columns of text are much easier to read...much like a newspaper.
    Those are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to usability and functionality issues with large one page layouts. I have not even mentioned the issues with mobile devices that it would have (which is the true future for us all web designers).
    As far as the new Apple Mouse. Mice have been able horizontal scroll for years so that is nothing new...that is just another case where Apples marketing has made it sound like a fantastic refreshing idea. Just because something can do something does not mean it is good. I have a horizontal scrolling mouse and never use it.
    I don't mean to crash your party. The site does look good and I also tested it in IE8 an 7 and seems the flash is ok so I'm not sure of the issue your are having. I think the site would be a much better place in pages.
    Good luck

  • How can i get the footer bar to stay, whilst page scrolls?

    how can i get the footer bar to stay, whilst page scrolls?
    at the moment, on my site, if the page is longer than the screen, it goes behind the footer,
    but the foot bar moves up the page as yo scroll down to see the rest of the content.
    any way of getting the footer to stay put, while body/page contant scrolls ?
    thanks

    You can use some css to do it...
    #footer_id {
         position:fixed;
         bottom:0px;
    <div id="footer_id">Your footer content</div>
    The css above will lock your footer to the bottome of the browser window. As long as your footer <div> is last in your html, it will float over the top of everything on your page when the page is scrolled. If it's not last in the html, you'll need to add a z-index to get it on top of your other content in the stack.

  • Creating a 1 page scrolling site - problems with the final section scrolling too far

    I have created a 1 page scrolling site that works fine apart from the final section, which scrolls too far. My site is made up of a pinned headr, a pinned footer, and 4 sections (defined by rectangles - each one 1011 pixels high). I have used scroll effects to bring the items in and out.
    The site can be viewed here: Home
    The problem is with the contact us section, where you seem to be able to scroll further than the bottom section.
    These are my document set up settings:
    so my height is set to 4042 (though I have tried it with 4044 - 4x1011 - it makes no difference. When I click on the link to the contact section it looks fine, but I then seem to be able to scroll further down, and this seems dependant on the monitor / browser size. The problem is more pronounced with a smaller monitor / browser size in height.
    I have tried everything I can think of to make it not scroll beyond what the anchor takes it to when I click on the link, but whatever I do the problem seems to persist.
    I would welcome any suggestions on this, and also any general feedback on the site. But help with the problem first please.
    Many Thanks in advance - I would be happy to post the muse file but cannot seem to find a way to do this.
    Ian

    Thanks for the help. Is there a way that I can upload the file for someone to look at - I have tried your suggestion but cannot find any empty text boxes or anything at the bottom. I have gone top right and tried the upload file section but it tells me that I am not allowed the create the content.
    Actually i'll put it in dropbox and share it that way.
    Dropbox - YESS2.muse
    Hopefully someone with more knowledge than me can see what I have done wrong - it is my first time doing a 1 page scrolling site so it might be a school boy error
    Cheers

  • Page Scrolling Options

    Hi everyone,
    We are currently running VC on 2004s SP8. I would like to have my table be able to scroll or page through the many records. The table is being populated with data but the paging toolbar does not show up. Scroll buttons is set to 'Show' (greyed out can't change it) and the 'Number of Rows' is set to Autofit which is also greyed out. If I double-click the paging toolbar in the designer the 'Page Scrolling Options' box pops up for configuration, however it only shows the first 6 items and the 7th is cut off. The pop up can not be resized either.
    Has anyone seen this before? Is there a fix?
    Thanks,
    Pete

    Marcel,
    Thanks for your quick response. Flash looks very nice but with larege tables or wide columns, not having horizontal scroll is a big limitation. VC tool is very nice and adding these features will propel VC as a tool of choice for BPX users.
    I also found these useful OSS notes...950492, 994827, 992872, 1021675 (not published yet as of feb 17, 2007) .
    A correction to my earlier comment ---  sap press book on VC does hint at limitations and have carefully not discussed or show screen shots to highlight scroll bar issues in their examples.. nevertheless it is a priceless book.. can't do VC without it..
    yes, WD can be used only for web services... it is also covered in the book...
    thanks and best regards,
