Is it possible to enhance T400 with fingerprint reader?

I bought T400 WITHOUT fingerprint reader. Is it possible to add fingerprint reader? How expensive this enhancement? I am fine to send laptop back if this can be done at service center.
Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Win 7 slow boot - login in with fingerprint reader

    Hi
    I have a T400s (2.4 GHz and 4 GB) with an Intel SSD and WIn 7 RTM with latest Lenovo beta drivers.
    I have the fingerprint reader activated for login and my boot time of 35 seconds is now split about half in the fingerprint login and half in the rest of the boot process.
    Or described in another way if the machine is powered off and I swipe my finger to start the machine it takes about 17 seconds before the login prompt (the finger) is shown.
    Then the machine shows "waiting" for 15-20 second during which my personal login icon flashes by before it completes the login and almost immediately shows the desktop.
    I am surprised by the very slow login with my finger already swiped. It would be much faster to disable the fingerprint reader and log in using a password. Anyone encountered this problem and knows how to fix it?
    Other problems with the boot I have found (and solved) is the use of a solid color as the Windows background which for some reason costs about 15 second in boot time!!? I also had to reflash the firmware of my SSD to gain an additional 10 seconds at the start of the boot process.

    Hi Mats,
    I have a similar, if not, the same complaint. I have a T500 running Win 7, which was just upgraded from NT.
    My complaint - and it goes under the topic of usabiltiy - is that it takes anywhere from a couple of seconds up to 20 seconds before a valid fingerprint scan is accepted. If it's a scan doesn't match, there's immediate feedback of an error. I wouldn't mind the delay so much if the was some immediate feedback. If I click the "other credentials" button, I can see that the machine is "validating".  If I enter my password, boom, I'm immediately logged in.
    This is annoying.  Under NT, there was not such problem.  Your post is from 1 1/2 years ago. It's surprising that no one else is complaining about this. I guess most just say "forget it - I'm just using my password." But I know the process works and works nicely.  (I've run the ThinkVantage System Update as recently as Feb '11. So, the drivers are current.)
    Hey, anyone from Lenovo listening?!!

  • Can't logon with fingerprint reader

    I have a T520 (4243-4UG) where I cant logon with fingerprint. The led next to the scaner lighs and blink when i swipe the finger and the harddisk indicator blinks to but nothing happens. The strange thing is it works when i access the fingerprint controle panel
    I have tried to reinstall the driver, tried with and without the checkmark at "Use fingerprint scan instead off password when logging into windows"  there is no checkmark at "require fingerprint logon for non-administrator users"
    The user is local administrator.

  • Possible to upgrade to a fingerprint reader? (X220)

    Hello.
    I'm getting a ThinkPad X220 soon, and I was wondering if I upgrade to a fingerprint reader. The one I will recieve comes with the stock palmrest, so if I bought a palmrest with the fingerprint reader, would it work with the correct drivers?

    First we need a Product Number to know which part of the question is asking for what is slow. SSD will speed up the load processor and usage but if your processor is slow then everything else will be slow with it.

  • Problems with Fingerprint Reader on Touchsmart TX2-1274NR Notebook and Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit)

    I have just upgraded my tx2-1274nr to windows 7 ultimate (64-bit) [my university released the upgrade a week early] and I followed the directions provided by technical support and downloaded/installed all the updated drivers and software.  Everything works great (actually better than great) except for two problems.
    The fingerprint reader does not work. It shows up in the device manager, but when I try to register a fingerprint, Windows says no reader found.
    This problem is not really effecting the performance, but it states on the device stage that I am missing a driver for the keyboard filters?  I am not sure if this is important.
    Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.  I am really loving the new system, especially the multi-touch (installed the drivers from N-trig)!!
    Thanks

    Check this and this thread. You need Authentec TrueSuite.

    If You have any version of Quick Lunch Buttos installed uninstall them and install this here which is provided by HP for Win7.

  • Can't encrypt files with fingerprint reader

    I just bought a Toshiba E105-s1602 and I cant figure out how to encrypt files and folders with the fingerprint reader.
    I use it to log onto the computer and in the instructions it says just to right click on the file and there should be something that says encrypt or something similar, but I have no options having to do with encryption.
    Does anybody know how to use this, am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks

    As far as I know this option depends on preinstalled software. I am not 100% sure but Toshiba offers two different applications for this purposes.
    If such option is not available then this option is not offered by preinstalled application.

  • T61p upgraded palmrest with fingerprint reader not recognised

    Hi,
    I have the following T61p mode 6457-Y74. Originally it never came with a fingerprint reader, so having bought one off ebay and installed it, it doesnt work, neither is it recognised in the BIOS. My question is, am i right to assume that a T61p without fingerprint reader would have no option to enable/disable in the BIOS? Therefore, if i installed the fingerprint reader, are there any other steps i would need to take to get it registered/recognised? Once installed, would it just appear in the BIOS? If so, then i suspect the palmrest may be faulty. If not, what am i doing wrong?
    Thanks very much!

    Your system is definitely compatible with the fingerprint reader. You have a cpu that wasn't offered until 2-2008, requiring Penryn support, so it's not a case of a board that predated the fingerprint reader (if any exist).
    Look in the security section of your bios, if you don't see it there, then it must be a bad reader.
    You can try updating your bios, I have done this with much older t61 models, but I always instaled the latest bios, just be careful, a failed bios update can render the system unusable.

  • How to get fingerprint reader to work with passwords on web pages?

    I just got my x61 with fingerprint reader.  I have enrolled my fingerprints and am able to use the fingerprint reader to logon to the system.  I would also like to use the reader to bypass password entry on webpages I use frequently, like email.  I think this is a possible function of the fingerprint reader (as is implied in the Lenovo video about the fingerprint reader), but I cannot find any information on how to do this.  Can anyone help?

    You can use password manger,It's a part of CSS.

  • Recovering Windows password from fingerprint reader

    Hello,
    I have used fingerprint reader for a long time and forgotten my windows password. However, I need it now.
    I'm running Windows 8 on Lenovo E530 with Fingerprint reader 6.0.200.75.
    Is it possible to reveal your windows password in the same way than website passwords? And if it is, how?
    Googling didn't produce results and the previous topic here referred to fingerprint reader 5.9.x with different settings page, where it was possible.
    Thank you for assistance.

    I installed thinkfinger-package, but for some reason it wont save the fingerprint:

  • X230t LCD Bezel /w Fingerprint Reader FRU number

    Hi all!
    I need to replace LCD plastic bezel with fingerprint reader sensor in x230t (3434 CTO).
    As I see in http://download.lenovo.com/parts/ThinkPad/x230t_fru_bom_20121010.pdf doc
    it's FRU number is
    04W6941 -- LCD ButtonBzlASM wFP CM2
    I don't know what CM2 or Comet-2 acronyms means.
    Could somebody confirm this FRU number?
    Link to picture
    Moderator note; picture(s) totalling >50K converted to link(s) Forum Rules

    Comet is the company that manufactures the fingerprint reader.
    Most of the LCD bezel comes with fingerprint reader, so there are more of them in stock as compared to the one without fingerprint reader. The price of the parts depend also factor in inventory cost, and the lack of supply.

  • Is it possible to enhance the dynamic search with Option field with custom

    Hi All,
    is it possible to enhance dynamic search with OPTION parameter like Equals to , Between etc, instead of these are we able to add our own? If yes, then which are steps need to perform.
    Thanking you.

    Just to test is this possible i wrote a sample program
    data: lr_dquery type REF TO cl_crm_bol_dquery_service.
    data: lv_status TYPE CRMT_PROCESS_DESCRIPTION.
    data: mv_bol_core type REF TO cl_crm_bol_core,

            lv_opp_id type string,
            lr_entity type ref to cl_crm_bol_entity.
    MV_BOL_CORE = CL_CRM_BOL_CORE=>GET_INSTANCE( ).
    MV_BOL_CORE->START_UP( 'BT' ).
    *data: lv_opp_id type string.
    lr_dquery = cl_crm_bol_dquery_service=>GET_INSTANCE( 'BTQOpp'  ).
    if lr_dquery is bound.
    *   prepare the selection paramters
      lr_dquery->add_selection_param(
        exporting
          iv_attr_name =  'OBJECT_ID'   " Component name
          iv_sign      =   'I'  " Inclusion/exclusion criterion SIGN for range tables
          iv_option    =   'PI'  " Selection operator OPTION for range tables
          iv_low       =   lv_opp_id
    *   Get the dynamic result object and read the opportunity status from there
      lr_result_obj ?= lr_dquery->get_query_result( ).
      lr_entity ?= lr_result_obj->get_first( ).
      if lr_entity is bound.
        lr_entity->get_property_as_value( exporting iv_attr_name = 'STATUS'
                                    importing ev_result = lv_status ).
      endif.
    endif.
    BREAK-POINT.
    No syntax error but junk values returned as I had not written the logic for retrieval based on this operator. This means that if you add the selection_param to the dynamic query and then handle that same thing in the GENIL class for the component then you would be able to retrieve the values based on this.
    On the UI , you would be retrieving all the operators for the parameters. There for that particular field you have to add the new operator for your case. And this would be send to the Dquery class and added as a selection param. When the query is executed, if the genil class has been updated to handle this parameter, you should be able to retrieve the results.
