Is it possible to export a backup from DPM?

Hello,
I need to export a backup from DPM to use it in a test enviroment. I have a SQL database backup and I need to give that version of the database to the DBA. He will use that version of the database in the test envioroment.
So, I need to know how could I export the backup to use the database in a different SQL enviroment.

Hi,
Simply start a recovery for the SQL database and select the option to recover to a network folder.  You can browse to any server that has a DPM agent installed for this DPM Server.
If the SQL server in the test environment has a DPM agent installed, you can restore directly to that test server by selecting the option to "Recover to any instance of SQL Server".

Hello Mike Jacquet,
Thanks for your fast reply.
When I start a recovery the option "Copy to a network folder" is not available. I had to look for other method and I found a powershell script.
Import-Module dataprotectionmanager
$global:pg = Get-ProtectionGroup -DPMServerName DPMserver | ? {$_.friendlyname -eq "protection_group"}
$global:ds = Get-Datasource $pg | where {($_.productionservername -eq "SQL Server name ") -and ($_.name -eq "data_base")}
$global:rpl = Get-RecoveryPoint $ds | sort -Property RepresentedPointInTIme -Descending
$global:rpl = $global:rpl[0]
$rop = New-RecoveryOption -SQL -TargetServer "DPMserver" -RecoveryLocation CopyToFolder -RecoveryType Restore -TargetLocation "C:\Folder"
Recover-RecoverableItem -RecoverableItem $rpl -RecoveryOption $rop
This script copy the last version of the database backup to "C:\Folder"... there is just one problem: it takes too much time!

  • Is it possible to export a Book from Aperture 3 to iPhoto?

    I shot a wedding for a friend and made a layout of a book on Aperture 3.
    Printed a few books which I thought were beautiful.
    I was wondering if it would be possible to export this book from Aperture (with the layout and photos intact) as a file (editable or read-only), so my friend can import and open it using iPhoto and order more copies of the book through Apple when she pleases.
    Tried Google and couldn't find an answer. Thank you for taking the time.

    How about importing from iPhoto into Aperture 3?
    I have made a photobook in iPhoto and then bought Aperture 3, but I can't find it possible to export the book in a format that I can open in Aperture. Also, when I export the book in size Large or above, iPhoto crashes.

  • Is it possible to export brush presets from Lightroom 4?

    Hello all,
    Is it possible to export brush presets from Lightroom 4?  I created custom brush presets on my laptop and I would like to export them and import them onto my desktop if at all possible.  Did a bit of research online and could only find this link which only applies to 'Presets' in general, http://help.adobe.com/en_US/lightroom/using/WS2A36C507-E076-4b14-AAC3-87852595D175.html.  Please let me know if this is possible or not as this would be a great time saver.
    Thank you!

    Brush Presets are stored in the "Local Adjustment Presets" sub-folder within the Lightroom settings folder structure. The location of the latter varies by Operating System, or if you have "Store Presets with Catalog" checked in your Lightroom Preferences (Presets Tab)....easiest way to locate them is go to that Presets Tab on the Preferences dialog and click on "Show Lightroom Presets Folder"....that will open a Finder/Explorter window with the Lightroom folder showing. Open that folder, find the Local Adjustment Presets sub-folder and copy the brush preset .lrtemplate files to your desktop. Repeat the process on the desktop to locate the Local Adjustment Presets sub-folder, then simply copy the brush presets into it. They should then show up in Lightroom on the desktop (you may need to restart Lightroom first).

  • Is it possible to export a histogram from labview to excel

    is it possible to export a histogram from labview to excel,and of course get a fancy one

    Hi achfire,
    The LabVIEW Report Generation Toolkit allows you to create different graphs in Microsoft Excel, including Bar Graphs.  Check out the Report Generation Toolkit section of the White Paper below for more information.  I've also linked to a section of the Report Generation Toolkit Help document which gives more details on the different types of graphs you can export.

  • Is it possible to export a file from Organizer with the list of all the images in an album?

    Is it possible to export a file from Organizer with a list of all the images in a certain album? In filling one of my albums I did not save my edited images to the same file... they are spread out a bit.... Now I want them to make a book with them (outside of Elements).

    As far as I know, Elements does not have the ability to create lists.
    The solution to your problem of making a book outside of Elements is to place all the desired photos in an Album and then select File->Export->As New Files which gives you the ability to make a copy of every photo in the album in a new folder, from which you would create your photobook.

  • Is it possible to save or export an e-book chapter from Adobe Digital Editions? Is it possible to export or save from Adobe Digital Editions to an Adobe pdf?

    Is it possible to save or export an e-book chapter from Adobe Digital Editions? Is it possible to export or save from Adobe Digital Editions to an Adobe pdf?

    I hope you won't see this as rude, but what you are missing is the obvious point that Adobe are in business to make money. So they put as little in Adobe Reader as they can, so people are motivated to buy stuff. Every development intended for Reader has severe limitations on feasibility and techniques for this reason; it's a huge (but very common) mistake to just develop for Acrobat and assume Reader will follow.

  • I would like to know the list of possible output (export) file codec from FCP X. For example, can I export  in F4V or FLV format?

    I would like to know the list of possible output (export) file codec from FCP X.  For example, can I export  in FLV format?  Where do I find the list, which gives me all the details about it?  Or is there only one output codec? Thanks

    That's an excellent analogy. While FCP cannot export FLV. It is possible to do a very simple substitution. If you export a QuickTime movie using the .mov suffix with the H.264 codec, you can change it to FLV simply by changing the suffix to .flv. This is an acceptable format for Flash movies on most web sites, if that's where you're trying to go.

  • Is it possible to export to xlsx from code?

    Hello!
    Is it possible to export to xlsx from code rather than from a viewer with Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010?
    /regards

    Gonna answer myself, solved it like this:
    ExportOptions exportOpts = new ExportOptions();
                exportOpts.ExportFormatType =
                   ExportFormatType.ExcelWorkbook;
                exportOpts.ExportDestinationType =
                   ExportDestinationType.DiskFile;
                ExcelFormatOptions formatOpts = ExportOptions.CreateExcelFormatOptions();
                formatOpts.ExcelAreaType = AreaSectionKind.Detail;
                formatOpts.ExcelUseConstantColumnWidth = false;
                exportOpts.ExportFormatOptions = formatOpts;
                DiskFileDestinationOptions diskOpts =
                    ExportOptions.CreateDiskFileDestinationOptions();
                diskOpts.DiskFileName = "test.xlsx";
                exportOpts.ExportDestinationOptions = diskOpts;

  • Is it possible to export a certificate from an iPhone?

    Hi all,
    We are distributing corporate iOS devices with an internally-issued certificate.  The user can't use the VPN client without a proper certificate.  One of our consultants has the infrastructure director all spun up with the idea that a user could export the certificate from the iPhone or iPad and transfer it to their personal device.  As far as I know, this is not possible.  Am I correct?
    Any help or thoughts are appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Yeah, unless you want to deal with the pain of trying to get you messages to your computer, you will have to take a screenshot (by taping the home and lock button at the same time).
    If you want to print a screenshot, it will be in the photos app to print ( click the share button and click print).  If you so not have a AirPrint printer, there are third-party apps for computers like fingerprint (look it up) that can make a fake AirPrint printer.
    I want to add something more.
    In most cases, you would need to use a paid third party tool to export and then print your iPhone text messages on your computer. If you have a low amount of messages you want to print you can also take prints creens of each message, then transfer the photos to your computer and print from there. • Just updated to iOS 6, then iTunes auto synced and erased my backup. Is it possible to restore my backup from yesterday's Time Machine?

    I have an iPhone 4, and waited a long time to update my iOS because I heard the new ones were buggy. Finally I had to update to iOS 6, but then iTunes automatically synced with my new phone and erased my backup. I lost everything on my phone.
    1) I have a Time Machine backup that I completed yesterday. If I take my phone to the Genius Bar tomorrow, will they be able to use it to recover my content?
    2) I have heard of this happening to a ton of people, how can Apple sit by and let this happen? (More of a rhetorical complaint than a question, feel free to ignore...)
    Thanks,
    Sarah.

    Hello rustyfeathers,
    The backups certainly can be restored from Time Machine, and here is the location where they are:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    From: iTunes: About iOS backups

    And in case you need some assistance with restoring from Time Machine, here is the article for that:

  • Is it possible to use a backup from an iPad 3 to restore an iPad 2?

    I am currently setting up a model within the company I work at for leasing out iPads to our customers. The process being worked on is that we set them up as we like them, then ship them out.
    However, as above, my question is can a 3rd Gen iPad backup be used for a 2nd Gen iPad, or do you need to have a backup from each model to use on other iPads?
    Any help appreciated here,

  • Is it possible to export my bookmarks from Firefox and import to another instance of the browser but without any type of cookie being imported?

    For convenience I want to have my already created bookmarks imported into another Firefox user's browser. For security reasons I don't want any cookies or flash cookies to be imported when I do this and I don't want to Sync browsers. Is this possible? If so, how, or are cookies not part of the exporting of bookmark data anyway?

    You can transfer bookmarks using two different formats:
    * Backup format: if you want to preserve tags, this format can do that. However, the Restore process completely replaces all existing bookmarks with what is in the backup. If you want to merge different sets of bookmarks together, do not use this method. More info:
    ** [[Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer]]
    * Export format: with this option, Firefox creates an HTML file with an ancient format compatible with most browsers. It is not as complete as the newer Backup format. More info:
    ** [[Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks]]
    ** [[Import Bookmarks from a HTML file]]
    Neither of these files contains cookies or passwords.

  • Is it possible to EXPORT video films from the iPod to iTunes ?

    EXPORTING FILES FROM IPOD TO ITUNES
    Obviously, I know how to send files from iTunes to iPod.
    But is it possible to do the opposite way ?
    I have video files on my iPod that got lost on my hard drive.
    I'd like to save them back to the hard drive (and import them back into iTunes).
    Anyone out there knows if this is possible ?
    iPod 60Go (1.1.2) / iTunes (6.0.5)   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    There are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. One that I recall does videos as well is iPodCopy. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for it: iPodCopy

  • Is it possible to export a video from GarageBand to iMovie, Soundtrack or FinalCut?

    Wondering if it's possible when you make a video/movie and you've saved it in GarageBand, to export the video to iMovie, Soundtrack of FinalCut?
    thanks,
    Lorna

    lornafaith wrote:

    First of all, you don't save a video in GarageBand.
    You can import a vidoe file into a GarageBand Project
    You can add music, sf, or anything else to that video
    At the end you use the  "Export Audio to Movie" command.
    THe result is a quicktime movie file (you can choose the format in a dialog window). That video file can be imported into any video editing software, including iMovie. There is no need to export it to iTunes.
    If you have the video already in iMovie. then you cold export only the audio in GarageBand and import that audio file back into iMovie. Just make sure that they stay in sync.
    Hope that helps
