Is it possible to export Spotlight Comments? Please help.

Hello,
I have around 700 historic photos that have been digitized. All the photo details (dates, etc.) were entered into the Spotlight Comments field under Get Info. Unfortunately, none of the comments appear when I open the photos in Adobe Bridge CS4. Is there an easy solution to export the Spotlight Comments and use them elsewhere?

I found this AppleScript on Google. I cannot vouch for it: I have never tried it and it is several years old. It appears to use GraphicConverter. But you can experiment with it, and see if it works for you.

This is how I do it: With all the video & still's in the time line, I click on each (even if I have to use the command key and click on each file). When each file is active I go under SHARE- go to EXPORT MEDIA- I use the Apple Pro Res codec 4:2:2. If you do not click on each file in the time line it will not be exported out.

If I read you right, what you are trying to do is grab Finder metadata and convert it to photo metadata. Specifically, convert spotlight comments to Exif and IPTC - which is what a Photo app will need.
You can't do this with Automator. The Automator dictionary has ways to set Spotlight Comments but I can see no way to get them. Further the dictionary has the ability to write to the IPTC data only of images in Aperture, not in the Finder or iPhoto.

Have you tried the Applescript that was suggested when you posted the query last?
As your target are file managed by Bridge, give the Adobe forums a go too.
However, you may run into another issue here and that is that most scanners (as I presume this is how the photos were digitised) do not create Exif and IPTC data for scanned images. It may not be possible to do what you want to do.

Hi, do you know if this works if I then want to move my library to a new computer as that is my main intention bacause my old computer hasn't got enough space for me to add new albums so I want to ditch the computer (its got to be about 100 years old and doesn't seem to cope well with modern technology!!) and start using my laptop for my iTunes. I am at the point now where i'm ready to throw both my computer and iPod out the window!!!! I might point out as well that in trying to clear space on my computer I accidently deleted the Bonjour programme which is aparently needed to use the home share option, oops!!!!

EXPORT ISSUE! PLEASE HELP!

Hi! I have created an Ad Promo for a project I've been working on for a long time now. I created the promo in Keynote '08, and I have to give it to someone in A movie format (playable in QuickTime). I have exported it to QuickTime, but the motions are jerky, and some of the timings are off. (there is music in the show, and certain "builds" or "animations" are supposed to happen and certain points in the music, and they are off time.) I saw that there were more advanced settings for both the audio and video quality, but I don't know what any of those things mean. What can I do or settings I can change, or programs can I download to accomplish my goal? PLEASE HELP!!! I give my presentation tomorrow!!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

There are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.
1. Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
2. File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
3. Show File: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

One of the most common causes of these errors is that you are using a higher version of the export utility compared to your RDBMS version. For instance, you might be using the Oracle 10.2.0 exp utility against an Oracle 9.2.0 database. Use the 9.2.0 exp utility instead. Metalink Note 132904.1 discusses the compatibility matrix between exp and database versions.

Exporting Problem! Please Help!

I am trying to export a project in Final Cut Pro, but I am running into an error.
Here is what is happening:
1. I click on "share"
2. Then, I click on "Apple Devices 1080p"
3. Then, it starts to share, and at 5% it stops and gives me the error of: "QuickTime Error:50"
I don't know what to do! Please help! Thanks so much!

Is your version of FCPX up to date?
If it isn't, then updating to 10.0.9 may be enough to fix it.
If it is up to date, go to Applications and open the Get Info pane for FCPX. If Prevent App Nap isn't checked, check it.

IMovie iPad exporting problem! Please Help save this couples wedding video!

Hello, I've been having a problem with exporting my movie to my camera roll. I recently filmed a wedding video and started editing it on iMovie for iOS because i'm most comfortable with this program.
I edited the beginning and wanted to export the 3 min part to my camera roll so i could later add speeches to it. The loading keeps getting stuck at the same spot not even half way. I'm currently running the latest software iOS 7.1.1 on an iPad 3 32gb. I cleared some extra space which left me with 3.2 GB and I still experienced the stopped loading bar. I tried turning it off and on closing the app completely and it didn't help one bit. I'm not deleting it because I will have to start all over and my deadline is at the end of July. Someone Please Help! My support has expired from apple and $20 is way to much for a small problem like this. I would appreciate some help on "saving" this couples wedding video!

If you are having issues transferring your project to your Camera Roll, you may want to try transferring it to iTunes on your computer, then transferring it back. This will also give you an opportunity to back up the file, should anything happen to it during further troubleshooting on your iPad. You may find the following article helpful:

MAJOR EXPORT PROBLEMS! PLEASE HELP!

Hello. I hope everyone had a nice holiday. I'll try to be brief. I'm having a horrible problem with exporting my films. I work on a PC. To me, that shouldn't matter, but here's what's been happening. I shoot my films at 23.976 frames on the 5DMII and the 7D. My film got into a film festival. They asked for a 720p mp4 file. OK, no problem. I went under H.264, I exported an HD File, with 23.976 frame rate and I checked both boxes for Max Render and I set a 2-pass. I exported and when I played the vid back through Windows Media Player, it felt fine.
BUT, at the festival this past weekend, I was horrified to discover that my film, and no other films, was having a major sound problem. The audio was about half a second ahead of the footage, so they kind of looked like they were speaking correctly, but their dialogue would finish right before their mouths would. Super embarrassing. All I noted when I saw the tech booth was that they were using a mac laptop hooked to the projector, so I assume maybe it was quicktime they were running? Also, I believe they put all of the vids together as one file so it would run together as one block, but still, I believe most of the other films were shot at 23.976 frames as well, so that shouldn't matter.
I went home, thinking maybe I just wasn't being diligent enough and I needed to really look at the sound. Maybe it was off. But I keep all of the temp tracks, the sound from the dslr, on track 1 and then just mute it. I unmuted and played both tracks, and there's no difference. No echo, no weird delays, they're both perfectly synched up.
I've been having this problem for a long time but this was the first time that I REALLY could see the problem, probably because it was on such a big screen. Just my opinion, but I've found that most festivals are running MAC software and it seems like the vids I export seem to have an audio problem being played through mac programs. Another instance, briefly. I did a screening for a feature I edited. I exported an HD mp4 and put it on a friends MAC. The sound was off when we pre-screened it. I have a PC Toshiba laptop, I ran the vid through windows media player, and it felt much better, so we screened using my laptop and it went fine. But what does that mean?
Has anyone else had this problem? It's not just festivals too. I have a subscription with Vimeo, but every short film that I put up there has some kind of an audio drift problem. It's always minor so some people see it and some people don't, but I'm certain the vids are fine on my timeline. Do I need to export using something else? A different setting? As a quicktime vid? That last question seems kooky since any tutorial I've seen is usually wanting h.264, so I just don't know.
Please let me know if there's anything I can try or if you just have an opinion. Thanks very much.

I have an ipod video 5generation from back in 2007, and it is in PERFECT condition looks wise. I maybe used it for 2 weeks before I left it behind my friends shed on a trailer. I didn't know I had at the time. I thought it had gotten stolen. My friend found it 3 days later and it didn't turn on. He said that it had possibly rained for 10 minutes or so in the past 3 days, and gave it back. He was right, no charge would bring this baby back to life. BUT!! it is now 2011, and about 4 years later I find it in an old desk drawer!!! I have never been more confident to bring this ancient (apple wise) brick to life, and I've made progress! Now when I plug into power, a White screen comes on for about 5 seconds, then vanishes for the next 5 minutes. Then it repeats. Every 5 Minutes, White light for 5 seconds, then off. Like its trying to turn on, but just can't do it. Its been plugged in for about 2 hours now doing this. I've seen iFixit steps and all of that "take your ipod apart and let it dry and hope for the best", but its been "drying" (if it was water damaged) for the past 4 years!!!! PLEASE HELP ME! I have a macbook pro from 2010, and it won't show up in itunes or disk utility. Nothing, No response! I want some suggestions before I just say oh well and do open heart surgery on this sad ipod. Possible Project Corruption...please help!

I cannot open a specific Premiere Pro CC 2014 project or it's auto-saved projects or older versions of the project. I was working in the project and Premiere Pro "encountered and error and had to shutdown". Now when I go to open the project I receive an "unknown error occurred while opening the project". I was basically copying one part of a sequence into another project when this all happened. I have 5 projects that are using the same open and I did this in each project up until the last one, which was the one this happened in.
Wondering what I can do aside from rebuilding this entire project?
I am on an iMac 5K Retina running OS 10.10.2 and Premiere Pro CC 8.2.0. Not sure how to fix this. Please help?

Error message when exporting to qt, Please Help!!

I am getting file I/O error message when trying to export a 52 minute wedding project to quicktime. I tried different quictime settings, but nothing helps. Please hep me out with this issue it is driving me crazy.

Ok, I have trashed my final cut preferences, I checked and my external hard drive is set to mac osx extended. I ran disk utility, I exported to quicktime movie using current settings with movie self contained checked and I get the error message right away. Then I did it without self contained checked and it goes to 21% and I get the error message. Everytime it says this: File I/O error, that is all it says. What does this mean? What can I do next? I have a deadline for this project. I have alot of memory left on my external hard drive. This has never happened before. Thanks for all your help guys.

Getting an "Internal Error" while trying to export.. Please Help??????

I am using Windows 7 with photoshop cs5 on a PC. When i try and export an image to my canon printer I get a popup telling me that an "internal error has occured". What is wierd is everything was fine before and have used it a bunch of times then all of a sudden it stopped. I have tryed to unistall photoshop then reinstall and everything. I am trying to export to a canon plugin so i can print from photoshop. Any one have any ideas on how to fix this problem. I am extremely frustrated. Thanks

Yes that is all that pops up. Its really weird. When i export it gets about half way on the progress bar then a little box pops up saying " An Internal Error..." I don't remember all the words but it is less than 5 words. Never thought it could be the plugin. How do you delete a plug in that was installed on photoshop? Thanks

Flash CS4 won't export to .mov PLEASE HELP ME!!

Like the title says, i've been trying to export my .fla as a .mov from the Export>Export Movie option in the File menu. It will start exporting but once the progress meter gets to the end it just stops and never finishes.
I don't think it has anything to do with:
A: multiple scenes
B: actionscript directing to each scene
C: movieclips
since I was doing the exact same thing in CS3 without a problem.
What i'm doing now in CS4 that I wasn't in the CS3 version:
A: Motion tweens
B: importing .ai files to my library
C: using symbols created for flash in illustrator from imported .ai files.

Thank you Zombie. Specifying the length helped me export as a quicktime movie.
I wouldn't be surprised if there's a rubbish piece of coding in Flash CS4 that doesn't let you export a movie over 1 minute long without specifying the length of movie.
Ridiculous really. I expect this could be fixed in seconds by Adobe, but instead I'm left trawling the internet for hours wasting budget.
