I use my computer as my home entertaniment system as it has a TV Card and all that. I have my Dish Channels coming in through my computer as well as my Playstation 2 and my Samsung DVD Player. So far I have never been able to get anything more than 2. quality audio from these sources even though they have 5. sound capability. Is there some external device I am missing. I have a Dell installed Sound Blaster Li've Card. Any thoughts on this would be prime. Thanks.

You can export 5.1 wav files from Premiere with no problem, what you can't do is export Dolby Digital 5.1. Premiere will let you export stereo Dolby Digital but not the surround files, that requires Surcode. If your playback system can cope with wav. you don't need Surcode but if you are making dvs or Bluray you do.

I want to get the audio out of the lightning connection (the way you get audio when you connect it to a dock). It works properly with music, but when making a telephone call, it switches to the internal speraker. You can change to the external spekers, but you cannot select another audio out. It's also possible to get the telephone audio from the analogue connection, but that's not what I want. I want telephone audio from lightning...

I must also say that the second update ruined my Lumia's battery life.
With the first (out-of-the-box) update the phone usually had 30 percent of battery after a quite hard day (e.g. more than an hour of talking via bluetooth handsfree, more than two hours of listening to the music via bluetooth, more than an hour of browsing via wifi, and reading hundreds of e-mails via two mail accounts). I never managed to discharge it after one day (e.g. 14-16 hours) of continous use, no matter how much I talked, listened and browsed.
Now, with the secod update, it discharges to 20% after 12 hours of laying still almost without use (30 mins of music, less than 15 mins of talking and nothing more), and discharges completely with the usage pattern described above.
Did the second update contain some Android code?

You would need to have burned the disc using iDVD or a third-party application such as Toast. Is that what you did?

If you downloaded them on your computer's iTunes then they should have gone into the Movies part of your iTunes library, if on a device (iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch) then into the Videos app - they haven't appeared there ?
If you downloaded on your PC and they don't show in the Movies section then you could try searching for them by name (or part of their name) via windows explorer and see if that finds them. Or if you downloaded them on a device and they aren't in the Videos app then have you got a film age rating set in Settings > General > Restrictions that is hiding them, and if not can you find them via the device's spotlight search screen (swipe your first homescreen to the right) ?

Can I get 5.1 Surround Sound from Mac to Apple TV?

I have an iPad, iPhone and an Apple TV, and I love airplay, such a great feature!
I'm thinking of replacing my desktop for a mac and I was wondering; if I had a 5.1 surround encoded video file on my mac, would I be able to push the whole screen to Apple TV through mirroring and still get the 5.1 sound output to my audio receiver and speaker setup?
I'm NOT asking if I can airplay an mp4 encoded movie through iTunes at 5.1; I know I can already do that on my desktop and it works fine.
What I'm looking for is the ability to simply mirror what's playing on the mac to my hdtv through Apple TV, while still retaining the full 5.1 surround mix and outputting it to my audio receiver (i.e. Without having to convert the file type and drag it or play it in iTunes).
So before I take the plunge and spend over a grand on a mac, is this possible?
If this isn't possible I will probably just get a Mac mini and plug it directly into my receiver via hdmi. I can't see any problems doing it that way (I hope!)
Any info here would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your assistance, but I spent quite some time researching this before posting, and the post you link to (which I've already read) doesn't actually answer my question, that person is asking about his wireless speakers receiving individual sound channels through airplay. Other discussions, which I've also looked at, seem inconclusive.
I was really posting in the hopes of finding anyone who had personal experience of trying to play a fullscreen, 5.1 surround video file using airplay mirroring from their mac to their Apple TV, and if they received 5.1 sound.

2004 eMac won't start in 10.3.9, is there a way to get 10.5 onto it from DL DVD-R?

I'm trying to set up this ancient eMac for my mom. It had been running 10.3 or something, but I seem tyo recall it being wierd in that I couldn't get Safari (of all things) to run on it. So the other day, I put it in target disk mode and used a firewire cable and an old iBook to erase the HD and reinstall 10.3 onto it, as well as run the 10.3.9 updater.
It won't start up. It stalls at the apple logo.
So I figured that since it's RAM is maxed I'd put 10.5 onto it. I OWN 10.5 but I cannot for the life of me find it. My only copy of 10.5 is a DVD-R I bought on Craigslist from a guy who represented it as a genuine retail copy (I disputed the transaction through Paypal and was baffled that they decided in his favor). Anyway, this eMac cannot read DL DVDs. I have an external optical drive that can, but the eMac will not start up from it.
I tried to install it from my macbook pro with the emac in target disk mode but the installer won't let me because it assumes the volume 10.5 is going onto is attached to an intel processor.
I know there's some trick. Can anyone help?

I cannot find the eMac install disk, and I haven't been able to get it to start up from my 10.3 CDRm (holding down option or c), though I read something somewhere about these not being able to start up from system folders earlier than those they shipped with. I've dealt with this sort of thing several times before, and it always seemed to work to simply use target disk mode.
It definitely won't start up fromt the 10.5 DVD-R, and I'm pretty sure I tried putting the MBP into TM to use its optical drive as well, but it didn't work. But it's worth trying again, and I appreciate your input greatly.

Is it possible to get a 4:3 video from a 16:9 video?

I've authored a video in wide screen, but some people would prefer the regular 4:3 format because they do not own widescreen TVs. (I put together two people's footages--some shot in widescreen and some in 4:3, so it's not going to be perfect anyway.) Since there was a lot of editing involved, scene menu, etc., is there a way to use the same prel information but open it in 4:3 format? Sorry I may not be explaining clearly what I want--basically I want to change a 16:9 format video into a 4:3 format. If this is not possible after the fact of authoring, for future projects is there a setting or option to output to both formats when beginning a project?

I tried both methods and, actually both were really easy to do . When I added the DV-AVI file to the timeline and used the Motion properties to scale to 133% (constrained--so both height and width were enlarged), I lost the text I had in the title slide. Then I checked the photos--heads were cut off and on captions under the photos, the last line was missing. (I had enlarged the canvas in PSE and added text.) I tried reducing the scaling to about 80% which would maintain the captions, which may work--though I have black bars, but I sure had black bars in widescreen too--especially on the vertical photos.
My test may not be accurate since I don't have a 4:3 TV set any more. I tried the Sidebar setting on my widescreen TV. It may work better on a 4:3 set--I'll try that on someone else's set tomorrow. I had also put text on some photos and each line on the right side was cut off too. Without thinking I tried to edit it and move it--of course I couldn't because it was "fixed" in the avi file.That's the reason I had asked about editing the prel so I could start the 4:3 project and use everything I had already done in the 16:9 project and everything would still be editable. The draw back on scaling with that method is I have to do each photo individually unless there is a way to batch scale. Is there?
I am going to have to do more experimenting and viewing on a 4:3 set to decide which way works best for me.

i know the new air does not have digital output in the headphone jack, but is there another way to approach this problem? I heard there are ways to connect an external sound card to make it work (i'm new to this and not sure exactly how it works). I use to have my macbook pro linked to a Dell u2711 and ran toslink from the Pro, but now I'm on an Air, i have to use the analog output from the monitor which is driving me nuts comparing to the digital quality. Hoping there is another solution. thanks!

Sorry for the delay.
A VLOOKUP table is a rectangular array of cells, which may be a separate Table (preferred) or a block of cells on a larger Table. The column containing the search-for values (the codes, in your case) must be the leftmost column of the lookup table.
columns-range is the range of columns making up the lookup table. The range starts with the column containing the search-for values, and ends with the last column to the right containing data to be searched.
return-column is the column of the lookup table from which the data is to be returned. It is specified by a number. 1 is the search-for column, 2 the next column to the right, etc.
close-match determines whether the formula will accept a close match to the search term, or will accept only an exact match. A 'close match' is defined as 'the largest value less than or equal to the search-for value.'
For text values, 'less than' is read as 'alphabetically before' the search value.
Here's a small sample table set showing an example:
In practice, the data table (top) would be on a separate Sheet from the smaller Search table, and that sheet's name would be included in the cell range reference shown in the formula (unless the Data table's name, "Data" was used only for this table within the document).
There's a single formula, entered in the selected cell (B2) of the Search table, then filled right and down to all cells below and to the right of B2:

The FALSE value for close-match means only an exact match will be accepted. If no exact match is found, as in row 4 of the search table, VLOOKUP will return an error. The error is trapped by IFERROR, and the text string shown is inserted in the cell. Note that VLOOKUP is not case sensitive.
The COLUMN() function returns the number of the column containing the formula, and provides an automatic means of incrementing the return column as the formula is filled right.
Can't supply any details on how to enter a formula in Numbers for iOS, as I've not done that on an iOS device.
