Is it possible to get a wireless connection on vacation?

I will be going on vacation.  Is it possible to get something to plug into my laptop that will give me internet access?  I don't want to spend
$$ on a plan as I only need this access for a few weeks.  The place where we are going does not have internet access.  Is there something that I could just plug into my laptop and have internet access?  Something "pay as you go?"

The new type NTE master socket has filters built in ... if you're getting better performance from an extension socket (+filter) , I'd get the master replaced.
And if I was doing that, I'd have a broadband splitter v1 socket front fitted, tend to be better and negate the use of further filters on extensions. Segregates the phone connection from the broadband.

  • Equium L300: cannot get a wireless connection

    Hi all
I purchased an Equium L300 PSLB2E and cannot get a wireless connection. I have checked the network adapters and it tells me the Realtek RTL8102E Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet NIC ( NDIS 6.0 ) is working.
I have tried the FN+F8 but do not get any symbol for Wi Fi.
I have the Wireless switch to the fornt of the unit switched on.
    Any help much appreciated.

    Try again!
If the WLan card (device) will not appear in the Network adapters then you should take your Recovery DVD and should set the notebook back to the factory settings.
By the way; there is a Toshiba tool called *WPS Library*.
The WPS Library is needed for using ConfigFree and wireless connection.
    Try to reinstall it too.
    Good luck

  • Problem getting a wireless connection to HP iPAQ h5455

Problem getting a wireless connection to HP iPAQ h5455.  This unit is small hand held device simlar to a PDA.  I has both wireless and bluetooth access.
I get a connection to the modem but I can not connect to the internet.
I have verified the connection by ping and using the information provided on one of the h5455 status page.
I believe the problem I can not find anywhere to enter in my user id and password to get access to my dsl account.
Do I really need to enter in my user id and password to make a connection for the internet?
I have 3 other computer in my home network, 2 hardwired and 1 wireless.  All of them can connect and go online with no problems.

#1 What is the brand and model of your router?

  • E4200 - constantly getting drop wireless connection

First, if you only plan on using the ports on the back for network connections, I have had no problems. My issues are all deal with the wireless connections. I am constantly getting dropped and when I called Cisco/Linksys support, I was told that I needed to turn off my wireless N and have all the devices connect at a slower speed.

First of all please verify that you have got a 802.11n card in your computer. New generation routers (i.e. E4200) speaks an entirely different language than 802.11g cards, so while those adapters can work with the E4200 for example, they are not optimized to work with it. It is like having to translate from one language to another in real time when going from N to G... So in those cases the old router will show a stronger signal than the new one.
SECOND, make sure the adapter driver is up to date.
Try to do the following steps:
A] With the help of Cisco Connect Software (if at all you have installed the router with the help of this software)
1] Open the software and go to the option which says "Router Settings"
2] Then click on the option which says "Advanced Settings" which will take you to the router's configuration page.
3] Then go to the Wireless tab, keep network mode as mixed,
For Channel Settings of 2.4 GHz you can make Channel Width to 20 MHz only and Channel to 6, 9, 11..
For Channel Settings of 5 GHz you can make Channel Width to 20 MHz only and Channel to 40 or 161...
B] If you haven't installed Cisco Connect then you can log on to the router's user interface using it's default IP address in the browser which is 192.168.1.1 and type in 'admin' as the password leaving the username field blank. This will take you to the router's web interface and then follow steps as mentioned above to make the changes.

  • Help, I'm clueless, what do I need to get a wireless connection?

I've got an i-book G4 with an Airport Extreme card built in. I want to use my computer in another room. What do I need to buy? Any particular brand that works well with Macs? Do I need new software?
I really don't have a clue where to start!
    Please help
    Sarah

Sarah, Welcome to the discussion area!
Do you connect to the internet via an Ethernet broadband connection? If so you simply need any 802.11b or 802.11g compliant wireless base station.
You would connect your base station to your Ethernet broadband connection and then wirelessly connect with your iBook.

I have tried for hours to set up the wireless connection.  I even did the usb connect method.  I enter the ip manually and it won't detect it....just keeps me looping to the detect ip automatically or use the network connections it detects.   I tried the wps button on the router, printer doesn't find it.  I can detect my network thru the lan settings on the printer, but my other computer just doesn't pick it up.   Have tried everything suggested and that i could come up with, but im out of ideas at this point....any suggestions?

  • Can't get a wireless connection on a T43 when using Access Connections

This week I had to set up a laptop for one of the partners of our firm.  Since I can no longer use System Update to get all the lenovo apps I had to download everything from the website.  Everything seemed to be going fine until I noticed that the wireless card wasn't connecting through Access connections.   It only works through Windows connection utility I have the latest version of Access Connections and the correct driver for the wireless card but it just won't work.  I remember that when system update was up and running I could download a seperate driver from lenovo that would make the wireless card work with Access Connections.  Unfortunately, I can't find it on the website.  Can anyone help me?

  • Problem getting a wireless connection to work

Well after some enormous help from ArchForum - i managed to get my new laptop's netcard running.
Its a IBM X60S with the intel Chipset. but not I'm trying to get connection to my networks around me - But It will not work.
Normally i have used the KDE WIFImanager to do this - But now its just blinks off on constantly - súddenly its gonbe and then its back - I have ONCE been able to connect to the network - But didn' t get an IP adress.
So since is gonna to be my work computer - I would really like to get this working as quicly as possible but I do not know how - and cannot see the problem. So here I go. I using IPW3945 and added it to rc.conf Modules= IPW3945 - and daemons IPW3945d (But should this evt. be before or after network
I didn' t have anything else speciel in the rc.conf and can scan and find my network - but not able to connect to it or anything ...
    lo="lo 127.0.0.1"
    eth0="dhcp"
    eth2="dhcp"
    INTERFACES=(lo eth0 eth2)
But not what so ever normally I hvae and 128bWEP crypt on the network - BUT do an iwlist eth2 keys shows only 40 & 104bits?? Isn't it strange??
    eth2      2 key sizes : 40, 104bits

The funny part - i'm sitting with a IBM R51 rigth next to and all works fine here - and the signal is ultimativ and no problem getting an IPadress or anything.
EDIT: I have now several times getting connected to the network - but not at any times been able to get an IPaddress - even though both machines have the same setup - and should get the IPaddress from the router. The old IBM gets it - but not the X60s.
It seems like the asking for the DHCP - don't get on at all - In the routers log I cannot see if the card is asking for an IP - And should mean that it happend all the way.
Hopefully someone can help me further on with this ??? So than I'm able to cone further with this machine

    Well -
Is there difference between some off the networks ??
I mean in my Router thereś 3 options:
    64 - 128 -256 Bits crypto
    But with IPW3945 there only 2 :
    40 - 104 Bits.
So whats the difference and can you make something difference ? and is it possible to connect in other way to the accesspoints.
Normally on each and every else IBM i have used IPW2200 and works just normally with kde WIFI manager.
The only way i can connet to the accesspoint is without any WEP and with an static IP ???
    This cannot be the way!!!!

  • What is the best way to go about getting a wireless connection on the go?

Im new to the aple product. I just recently bought a New Macbook Pro and wanted to know what is the best way to go about connecting to the internet while not at home and on the go. I was thinking of maybe a USB internet stick. But dont know who provides them and who would be the best choose to go with for a nice price every month. If that was the best choose in the first place. Im living in the U.S.A so if you could help ill really apprecaite it. THANKS

Hi! I'm writing in beginning of October so I don't know if you've found a solution.
Your MacBook Pro probably has a WiFi card built in. You don't need to have a USB connector.
Turn on AirPort, go to Network and choose the network that is available to you. It might ask for a password, so get it from the cashier. My MBP connects wherever I go, as long as there is a network available.
    Good luck.

  • What is the best option to get a wireless connection please?

Hi, I have a 1.6 GHz G5 with Tiger (soon to install Leopard).
I currently have broadband through an ethernet cable but I want to set up wireless. My understanding so far is that I need either an airport card or an external device such as airport express (in the system profiler it says no info found under AirPort card).
Can someone please tell me if I am correct and if so, what is the best option to buy for my G5 model?
    Thanks very much

    BD, I declare an interest!
Look here if you would:  https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4229088?tstart=60
I like the look of the one in your third link, but the only similar one I can find in the UK is this:

but it comes with a 3 inch CD which is utterly useless to me!
If you can confirm that the MXP2802GU2 will work for me I will buy that!

  • Two years trying to get Toshiba Laptop Wireless Connection to work

I've been trying for the last two years to try and get the wireless connection on my Toshiba Laptop to work without much sucess. I did for a short time manage to establish an ad-hoc wireless connection from the Laptop to a Desktop and share the internet connection that way but then that stopped working.
I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro U400-15L model no PSU45E-00J005EN. It's the one with the 12.1" screen and running Windows XP Pro sp3.
My Wireless switch on the front of the laptop is turned on. It is also enabled in the software FN F5 Wireless enabled, bluetooth disabled. I don't have Intel ProSet.
Previously when I managed to establish an ad-hoc connection that was using microsofts software. I had to manually enable the Wireless Zero Configuation (WZC) each time though as it always started disabled or stopped even if I set it to start automatically. It was a monumental PITA.
When I try and connect to the home ADSL Wireless Router (Belkin N150) using the Toshiba software I get the error message "another vendor's application is controlling the wireless adaptor".
I get this all the time even if I have disabled Microsofts Wireless Zero Configuration (WZC).
I was thinking Windows was still somehow controlling this even though I have disabled WZC so having read solutions in other posts I have tried going to...
contol panel -> network connections -> wireless connection -> properties -> wireless networks tab -> uncheck "Use Windows to configure...".
But unfortunately there is no "wireless networks tab" in there, all I have is the other two tabs. And since trying to use Toshibas software to establish the wireless connection using their Radar thing, now when I click into the wireless network connection it has the message "Windows cannot configure this wireless connection. If you have enabled another program to configure this wireless connection, use that software."
Can anyone on the forum or at Toshiba help please?
    Thanks,
    John

Two years? Sorry but I cannot believe it.
If everything is Ok and I mean if there is no hardware problem you dont need longer than two minutes for WLAN configuration.
At first you must be sure the WLAN card is installed properly (device manager).
WLAN card must also be enabled properly (switch > check FN+F8 > check ConfigFree tool).
When he WLAN card is enabled properly (check status in ConfigFree) scan the area using option RADAR in ConfigFree.
    Can you find this option?
    Can you scan the area?
Is some WLAN visible for your notebook?
