Is it possible to get JPEG2000 out of Compressor 3.5?

I saw someone say that you could make a special app in Compressor 3.5 to output JPEG2000 video, but I've looked there and I don't see that codec listed? Is it available in Quicktime? If not, what application, besides Squeeze-it loses audio sync on anything over a few minutes-which makes it pretty useless.
A client wants to use JPEG2000 as an archiving format for a bunch of Betasp tapes--all around thirty minutes in length. We were doing ProRes 422 HQ but now someone has told him JPEG2000 is "the standard" for archiving so he wants to switch to that. Go figure!

I didn't see it in Compressor 3.5. But, FCP has JPEG2000:
I don't think you want to use FCP to convert the videos to JPEG 2000. You can use the free app MPEG-Streamclip from Squared 5 to encode the video.

I think the U.S. Government uses JPEG-2000 to archive videos. Why... have no idea why. As you will see playing back videos encoded to JPEG-2000 won't playback smoothly. You might get half (1280x720) the fps when playing back. I would encode just a few videos and send them to your client before proceeding. After looking at the JPEG-2000 encodings he might have you switch back the ProRes. (You can't edit with it... you'll have to convert it to ProRes to edit. What a waste of time and HD space. Tell your client that converting the videos to JPEG-2000 won't magically make them archive any better than ProRes. I would say the JPEG-2000 codec is a dead codec with both the consumer and pro end. And in a few years you might not see it on consumer or pro computers. IMO...)

Are these music videos located under Videos on your iPod? Do it play other regular movies (if you have any on the device)?

Try closing the App Store app via the iPad's multitasking bar and see if it works ok when you re-open it :
iOS 7 : double-click the home button to open the taskbar, and then swipe or drag the App Store app's screen from there up and off the top of the screen to close it, and click the home button to close the taskbar.
iOS 6 and below : from the home screen (i.e. not with the App Store 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the App Store app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't fix it then you could try a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Have you tried using Disk Utility? Utilities Folder>Disk Utility, hopefully the CD will be listed on the left. Select it and then click on the 'eject' butoon.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion. I have tried as you suggested, and when opening the "purchased" apps some have the icloud logo next to them, but I only have "OPEN" against "Find My iPhone". When opening it up, it goes through the same routine; needs to be updated before proceeding, and wouldn't update because I don't have IOS8.
Anything else I could try, or am I doomed!

You could try using particle analysis to give you the particle orientation. There is an example of this that ships with the Vision toolkit. Go to the Vision examples and look under Funtions>Binary Analysis and it is called Particle Orientation Example.

What do I do if I get "Running out of Application Memory" when no applications are open except finder and just copying pictures to Seagate?

Your problem is excessive swapping of data between physical memory and virtual memory.
That can happen for two reasons:
(1) You have a long-running process with a memory leak (i.e., a bug), or
(2) You don't have enough memory installed for your usage pattern.
Tracking down a memory leak can be difficult, and it may come down to a process of elimination. In Activity Monitor, select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected. Click the heading of the Real Mem column in the process table once or twice to sort the table with the highest value at the top. Repeat with the Virtual Mem column. If one process (not including "kernel_task") is using much more memory than all the others, that could be an indication of a leak. A better indication would be a process that continually grabs more and more memory over time without ever releasing it.
If you don't have an obvious memory leak, your options are to install more memory (if possible) or to run fewer programs simultaneously.

If the iPhone is in recovery mode simply due to a software issue (ie: a failed iOS update), it's very easy to get it out of recovery mode. It just needs to be restored.
If the owner is selling it and the only problem he/she mentions is that it's in recovery mode, it's very likely there are some other issues also. It could have a hardware problem that the owner is not revealing or is unaware of. It may also have been jailbroken and this can permanently brick the phone.
Best not purchase it as the odds of you ending up with a very colorful paperweight are high.

I have an XML document containing a container element (collection). If I query, using an XPath expression, the contained elements I get a row for each container element with the contained element concatenated. Is it possible to get a row for each contained element?
I run this simple query:
select extract(xmltype('<colors><color>Red</color><color>Green</color></colors>')
, '/colors/color/text()').getstringval() from dual
And get this result:

Sure. This is where our XMLSequence() function comes in. It allows you to treat the top-level nodes in a nodeset as if they were rows in a table when combined with the TABLE() operator. Here's an example.
First, to make the SQL look a little cleaner, I like to define a function like this:

To break out the nodeset of <color> elements as a table, we use the following query:

Or, using the new-in-9.2 extractValue() operator so we don't have to remember the text() part:

Here the TABLE(XMLSequence(...)) combo produces a table of XMLType, with one XMLType object in each row of the table.

I am wanting to replace all my PC's with Macs, ipads and iphones for my business.
I love the whole system but as a small Physio business, I need to be able to add 15min & 20min appointments to the callendar and share with my colleagues.
The problem I have is that they just bunch up and overlap and it becomes impossible to follow. There is no way of telling if you have any appointment spaces as it no longer shows the gaps. Also, are you able to set a default time for the appointments as it currently defaults to 1 hour (small pain in the arse but thought i'd ask while i'm here)
If there is a way to do this or if there is any other apps out there, I'm sure it would become a very useful business tool and many more small businesses would invest in Apple systems, I've talked it through with friends with other businesses and they agree.
Anybody have any solutions, or do Apple fancy making some simple upgrades to the software?

Yep, that's basically what I'm trying to to detect JJ; which layers overlap the blue area would be the ideal result. Which objects overlap the blue layer's bounds is an ok method, but not 100% accurate (as demonstrated by your example). The bounds method does narrow down what layers I need to check it against, but it still returns 2 layers I need to then take extra time to check against for the actual overlap, which wouldn't be necessary if we can get the check more detailed.
Since a more detailed way of getting the overlaps is still being looked into, I'm thinking of using EnsilZah's and/or c.pfaffenbichler's suggestions in tandem with some code they helped me with previously (here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/6256651#6256651 ) to get the actual overlaps by process of elimination on a narrowed return result using current suggestions; at least until a better/more efficient solution comes along. I am still open to other ideas, on this topic, though.
