Is it possible to get ....OCA and Oracle certified SQL expert ...together ?

Hie there everyone ...
i have a little question puzzling me ...
just today i passed my , Oracle DataBase 10g Administration I --- ( 1Z0-042 ) ... on my way for OCA certification.
But now , as it required another exam to get certificate and this is my question ...
Which Exam is more preferred for this ?? ... at present oracle is offering 4 exams ...
1. 1z0-001 ... introduction to oracle: Sql and Pl/Sql
2. 1z0-007 ... Introduction to oracle 9i ( i like 10g more so , i prefer to not to go backwards )
3. 1z0-047 ... Oracle DB SQL expert ( my choice )
4. 1z0-051 ... Oracle DB 11g : SQL fundamentals
now when i was looking at these options , i come to know that , if i give exam 1Z0-047 ... i can get individual certificate as ORACLE DB Certified SQL EXPERT ...
SO , my question is ... if i go for 1Z0-047 , will i get 2 certificates ?? i means , as i have already cleared 2 exams for OCA_ ... and another for passing this 1Z0-047 as a ORACLE DB CERTIFIED SQL EXPERT ??_
can i hit two birds with one stone ??
please if someone can answer/confirm it asap ... so i can give that exam in next weekend ( i've already prepared for it ) ...
thanks in advance for any help ...

oh my god. this whole thing is making me confused too!
if i go for this 047 exam then will i be an OCE or OCA??
if PASS(1z0-047) then Awarded SQL Certified Expert OCE;
But DIFFICULTY(1z0-047) > MAX(DIFFICULTY(1z0-051,1z0-007)) !
But Cost(1z0-047) > Cost(1z0-051,1z0-007) -- But not by much
and pls tell me what is the basic difference between all the exam options we have to become an OCA, particularly between exams 051 and 047 ?
since i am working in forms 6i , reports and pl/sql which exam would be better for me? and ya i am already working as a developer so have practical knowledge in sql so preapring for the courses would'nt be much a difficulty for me.
so pls suggest me which exam would suit me the best. thanksI your other post as well and nearly was to make this suggestion to you the you look at PL/SQL Developer Certifications. Because they match your current experience they will always help you in moving jobs.
You can also find studying for them will help your current work.
I would suggest 1z0-051 first. It ensures your up to some 11g features and will but you can learn new things on the way. It also gets you used to taking a prometric exam. It can be done online, you if you search other posts I give some reasons why I think this is not so good for most people. Others might argue 1z0-007 is an easier exam to take as you may be familiar with all constructs.
Some people plump straight for 1z0-047. You have to know a fair bit about analytic functions for this so its not trivial. But you do get a certificate for passing the exam, and as Jack shows it can be done. But its a harder exam.
PL/SQL OCA ought to be well within your grasp too. You have the choice of 1z0-147 or 1z0-144 (current in beta as 1z0-144, a long exam, but currently very cheap). From other posts you will see I dont think highly of 1z0-147, and quite frankly you wont learn a lt studying for it. 1z0-144 is the more recent exam and has more interesting topics and I think I'd advise who to aim for that (and if you take the beta exam you get some respect for me from trying it!). But certainly take one other exam at a prometric center before taking a beta!

    Hi,
Could any one provide the URL for the documentation for the below certificaiton. Please provide the URL for documentation and not the sysllabus.
    *1Z0-047 Oracle Database SQL Expert*

I'm not sure what you mean by the URL to the documentation. Oracle doesn't have documentation that's specifically about the test, but they do have a few SQL books/documentation here:
    http://www.oracle.com/pls/db112/portal.all_books#index-SQL
The content of the test is listed here:

  • Sql server - to oracle - and oracle - to sql server

    hi
is there any good tool for Migration from sql server 2008 to oracle 11g - and from oracle 11g to sql server 2008 ?
    thank's in advance

    Hello,
the SQL Developer Migration Workbench does not yet include online migrations of SQL Server 2008 (maximum version is 2005) to Oracle 11g. But an offline migration should work. Please refer to:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/migration//workbench/index_sqldev_omwb.html

For the other direction from Oracle to SQL Server you should check Microsoft sites, e.g. start here:

  • More Oracle Database SQL Expert [1Z0-047] study guides in pipeline?

    Hi
Are there more study resources (other than official Oracle book and Oracle Certification Prep summary) in pipeline or on market?

Are there more study resources (other than official Oracle book and Oracle Certification Prep summary) in pipeline or on market? The Oracle Press series isn't really 'from' Oracle, but rather is from McGraw Hill, so 'official' is a strong word to use. I know that Oracle provides some materials to the authors, but not the extent or type. There are very few authors/publishers that compete with Oracle Press in writing Oracle certification books. The three tests required for the DBA OCP (SQL, DBA1, DBA2) will normally generate competing books from Sybex and sometimes Packt. Beyond those tests, however, unless Oracle Press writes a certification guide, normally no one else does (and if Oracle Press writes a guide, then especially no one else does). This lack of certification materials for Oracle tests is a large portion of the reason I started writing my guides. Even then, one of the primary reasons why I designed them as a series of study guides rather than full-blown soup-to-nuts manuals is to avoid 'competing' with Oracle Press. I'd lose that fight, so I avoid it.
What I'm getting at (in a very roundabout way), is that I consider it very unlikely that another publisher will come out with a manual for 1Z0-047. The exam has been in production since early 2008 and the Oracle Press book has been out since late 2009. I don't think anyone is writing another one.

  • Questions about 1Z0-047 Oracle Database SQL Expert

I am planning to take this exam and I have several questions:
    1) I am using Steve O'Hearn's 'SQL Certified Expert Exam Guide' book and this states the following about SQL functions:
"Be sure to review the Oracle Database SQL Language Reference Manual and review the lengthy description of all of the SQL functions before taking the exam"
In trial tests it seemed that book's information was enough, but how about real exam? Is it necessary to study something in addition to this book information? You can answer regarding other exam objectives as well, if there is something that I should read from some other materials.
    2) The book states that I can add not null constraint to column that has null values, if I specify default value. I tried and cannot, I get error. So the book states it wrongly or do I misunderstand something?
    3) The book states that I cannot drop a NOT NULL constraint, but I can get the job done using: ALTER TABLE table_name MODIFY column_name NULL;
    I tried and I can execute: alter table table_name drop constraint nameofnotnullconstraint;
    4) To use external tables, is only read grant on the directory necessary or also write?
    5) I understood from the book that to flashback table (e.g to before drop) I need to have row movement enabled on the table. But I tried and I can make this flashback operation to table that does not have row movement enabled. How can this be explained!
    Big thanks in advance!

#1) well, the manual is free; find here the SQL Language Reference - http://www.oracle.com/pls/db112/portal.all_books#index-SQL
#2 & 3) If you proved it yourself, that settles it!
    #4) Here's a good article about external tables: http://www.oracle-developer.net/display.php?id=512
I noted this paragraph in it, which might answer your question:
In addition to the standard read-write Oracle directory that we need for our external table, we also need an additional executable directory object for the preprocessor. This directory defines the location of the executables used by the preprocessor (we will be using gzip below). As far as Oracle is concerned, an executable directory is one that has EXECUTE privileges granted on it (this is an 11g feature specifically to support the preprocessor).
    #5) don't know

  • Any possibility to get SYSLOG and SNMP support for the E8350?

    Hi,
It would be so nice to get some more basic functionality "OR more advance ones" to be able to se what is happening on the router, what it is doing and how the status of it is!
Couldn't Linksys add support for a syslog server or snmp to the E8350 router, would help alot to determine what's going on!
Or to enable some more / better logging support to a local attached USB stick or similar...
I remember from one of the old watchguard firewalls i had, it was superb in displaying in and outgoing traffic and what was blocked..
So a more advanced live traffic view lor ogging option would be greate!
    /J

I think you are at the point where you are asking for advanced tools but even though its a very pricey router, its still considered a home router. Linksys needs to evaluate their business model on this stuff. Prices more in line with SoHo Business equipment but features of a home router. To me it seems like they have crossed a line. Should reconsider their audience at this price point and open up access to more features but that may need to give out better access to the router instead of the GUI. Need to open up telnet or ssh to a shell that has those features available but would still not grant access to files that could brick the router. It couldn't be that hard.

    Hi,
have a look at the Formatter class:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/java/util/Formatter.html
There are also convenience methods e.g. in String:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/java/lang/String.html#format(java.lang.String,%20java.lang.Object...)
or - if you use System.out for example -
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/java/io/PrintStream.html#printf(java.lang.String,%20java.lang.Object...)

  • Is it possible to get Dreamweaver and the browsers to agree about placement?

I am using a Dreamweaver three column liquid template with header and footer. I had a problem with the invasion of my sidebars into my header, but the solution to that turned out to be very simple I pressed enter a few times and the whole lot came down together lining up across the page, sidebars and content in a straight line. Panic for nothing!
It has however left me with a couple of other problems.
1     There is a gap of about 10 pixels between the header and the sidebars and content in the version in Dreamweaver itself. The version in IE is exactly right, the sidebars and content are in a straight line under the header.
The one in Firefox has the sidebars in the right place, but the content about twenty pixels below the header (that is more than in the Dreamweaver  version) and there is a small gap between the left side bar and the content.
All gap sizes are approximate of course.
How can I work it so that the Dreamweaver and the browsers all agree or is this a hopeless ambition?
2     As this is going to be uploaded as a Site Builder system site and I wish to use their navigation, no point in reinventing the wheel and it suits this site, I have a ***NAVBAR*** tag in the left sidebar citing the position. This in the Dreamweaver version invades the content space, but this happens in neither browser. Plenty of room for it. Other content is happily within the sidebar in all versions. Will this NAVBAR reference be a problem? Hope not!
My grateful thanks for any help.
    Best wishes

Thought that as there was a place for attachments, long files were not welcome on the main request page.Quite understand about not opening attachments, although these were fine. Open Office is a great program, prefer it to Microsoft Office and I have both.
I am a newbie in the field of web pages and do not understand about test servers yet, sorry. So will insert both the HTML and CSS code here.
