Is it possible to hard wire an ipad to the Internet if no wireless is available in Europe

We are traveling and the cottage we will be staying just indicates "high speed Internet available". Is there any type of adapter that will allow a hard wire to the Internet?

If it's wifi then you shouldn't have any issue. If it's an ethernet type connection then you could use an Airport Express with the cable, and the iPad should then see it as a wifi-network.

What router are you using? make/model/version
What security type are you using? If it is WEP then symbolic (non hex) keys may be converted to hex in different ways by different operating systems. Is your laptop a Windows PC?
If you are using WEP then drop it and move to WPA2. WEP has been deprecated by the WiFi alliance since 2004 as insecure (it can be hacked in seconds).

Connecting the iPad to the internet via the iPhone is done by setting up a personal HotSpot, but you have to have that supported by your carrier and have to have established the account to do so.
On the  iPhone, Settings > General > Network > Set Up Personal Hotspot

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year. Then see if you can connect to the store.

  • Why does my iPad lose the Internet connection ?

Why won't my iPad battery recharge?  Sent this message before & would

I didn't do the most recent upgrade as I had problems with it when I did the previous one.  I have the  IPAD WI-FI 32GB .  It seems to be charging ok .  I did a Sync yesterday and now it won't connect to the Internet although it was working fine last evening and I didn't change any settings.
When I plug it in to my iMac, the iPhoto applicaiton opens and I have to open the iTunes application even though I have it set to open when I connect the iPad.
Appreciate any help or suggestions you can offer.  Thank you in advance.

  • Ipad using the internet

What should I do if the internet is working in my house and computer and not working on the ipad?

Upgraded to IOS5 and could not connect my iPhone and my iPad to Internet from home, while everywhere else it worked.
Reinstalled everything, tried every trick I read (static IP, bought new router, ...) and none worked.
Finally fixed the problem by changing the DNS and Search Domain from these instructions: http://techinch.com/2011/02/04/change-your-dns-settings-on-iphone-ipod-touch-and -ipad/

  • Possible to tell which programs are accessing the internet?  Bandwidth?

I seem to have intermittent, severely limited access to the internet at times.
Is it possible to tell if a particular program running in the background is either downloading or scanning or "online" in some manner...?
Is it possible on a Mac to see how much bandwidth, memory, cpu cycles, etc. particular programs are taking...in a window similar to that which opens on a PC after pressing CTRLALTDEL ?
    thank you

  • Why can't I connect my iPad to the Internet on a University campus?

I have already read some of the discussions regarding this problem, however is it something the university should be addressing or is it fixable by going through various settings within the iPad. Can someone who knows of a tried and tested solution please let me know,  as an iPad at uni is of no use if it cannot connect to the uni wifi and access the Internet.

    Hi,
You will need to provide more details in order for us to understand the problem.
Are you in wifi range? Is school network open or password protected? If it's password protected do you know the password? Etc, etc

  • How do I reconnect my ipad to the internet

I recently updated iphone and synced with imac and ipad.  now ipad does not connect to internet.  I restored wifi and can get email on ipad but still cannot
connect to the internet.  How do I restore internet connection for ipad?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • It is possible to turn your old ipad to the app's to your new iPad 2

is it possible to get your app from ipad to ipad2

If you just want the apps then you can either sync them from your computer's iTunes or, if they are still available in the store and you use the same iTunes account as you originally used to buy/download them, then you should be able to re-download them for free : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519.
If you want there content (e.g. game progress) then you will need to backup the first iPad and then restore the second iPad from that backup (a list of what is included in a backup is in this article  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4946 - it excludes music, videos, synced photos). As the backup doesn't contain the actual apps, just their settings and content, for the restore to work completely you'll need all the relevant apps in your computer's iTunes library - otherwise the restore won't be able to install the apps and therefore their content.

  • Guest Ipod touches and husband's iphone can no longer connect to internet with airport. But Ipad2 works and so does hard wire computer. where is the problem and how do we remedy

WiFi connections no longer working on Iphone and guest's Ipod Touches. How do we remedy this problem. The Ipad2 and hardwired computer are working with no problem

I had the same problem -- only iphones couldn't access wifi all of a sudden.  I solved it this morning by uploading a previous firmware version to my Time Capsule.  The solution was offered in a different discussion in the iphone section, which I found at https://discussions.apple.com/message/15180888#15180888 :
    Eureka thats the problem
The iOS 4.3.2 and 4.3.3 for iphone is not compatible with the firmware 7.5.2 for apple airport extreme and time capsule. If the WiFi router is an apple airport with firmware 7.5.2 an iphone with the updated firmware will not be able to detect and connect to the WiFi network.
Solution The iphone firmware can not be downgraded, the airport firmware has to be downgraded
    1)  Make sure that the settings of your Airport Extreme are in mixed a/b/n mode
    2)  Open Airport Utility
    3)  Select Upload Firmware from the BaseStation menu
    4)  If you current version is 7.5.2, click Upload Firmware
    5)  Select 7.5.1 from the pop up menu
    6)  Restore Firmware
Now the WiFi network is detected and connected perfectly as before upgrading the iphone to 4.3.3.
    The solution was found herehttps://discussions.apple.com/message/15170990#15170990

  • How do I upload docs off my iPad onto the internet

I am trying to apply for a job and I need to upload my resume on their website but when I click the browse button it only allows me to upload a picture. Please help

If you've authorised your iTunes account(s) on your computer's iTunes then you should be able to copy iTunes purchases via File > Transfer Purchases. For non-iTunes purchased music, if you haven't got a backup of content on external drives, CDs, DVDs etc, then you will need to see if there are any third-party programs that can copy content from your iPad to your computer

  • Trying to get my iphone 4s to get my laptop or ipad onto the internet?

I have heard you can get your laptop or ipad to "teather" to your ipone to connect to the interent thru these devices.  Anyone know how to do it?

You add internet tethering/personal hotspot to your phone plan with your carrier the on the phone you turn on personal hotspot via settings > general > network

  • Why do I have to be beside my modem to use my iPad for the internet

I am with eircom broadband and I have been having problems with my connection. the iPad that I have is the iPad 2 and I can only use my wifi/internet when I am up close beside my modem. today I rang eircom and told them about my issue and they upgraded the download or something and told me to choose a different Chanel number that I was using and nothing has changed. I don't know if it's a problem with my broadband or if it's to do with my iPad. I have an iPod touch 4th generation and I kind of have the same problematic it  but it's not as bad, I'm able to be further away from my modem than with my iPad. Ive asked other people about it who have had this problem and they said it's to do with my router but I'm not sure if that's what eircom told me my problem was. if you could tell me if the issue with it can be something to do with my iPad do you know what I need to do?

Have you tried connecting to another router/network?
