Is it possible to have 16 GB RAM configuration and a SSD in a mid '09 MBP.

To reiterate:
Currently my MBP is configured as
- mid '09 MBP
- 8GB RAM
- 2.66 GHz intel core 2 Duo
- GeForce 9400M
- 320 GB HDD
Want to modify to
-16 GB RAM
- SSD of similar size or greater if possible

An example of an SSD non-rotational drive to replace or upgrade whatever
original equipment spec (likely 5400-RPM, less likely 7200-RPM) would be
this series from OWC that states it has the same data transfer rate as your
computer's hard drive data speed; it need not be double-fast and run only
at half that. Just get one that closely matches your computer, as I'd stated.
If your computer were newer, then you'd look into the 6G instead of this 3G series
SSD. This may be the better choice available for the older MacBook Pros. These
are a good product and affordably priced with above average guaranty. They have
a section of how-to video instructions at the bottom of the previously posted page.
Since you are looking to upgrade past the old HDD spec, with a faster product,
the 3G SSD would be the nearest match, as I'd alluded to previously. Even if
the SSD has a slight bottleneck running through older SATA channels, it will
still be substantially faster than the 5400-RPM or 7200 on the hard drive bus, &
be quiet, also should use less power. However the big plus would be in that
you could see a noticeable gain in speed, due to faster read-writes to SSD in
the absence of more chip RAM.
They also offer a second custom SSD install tray that replaces the optical drive
and that would be a fair place for an SSD if you chose to put a 7200-RPM in the
original HDD location; if you didn't afford or want to do both. OWC also offers
replacement or upgrade optical drives, in case you like to have the original feature.

We have to perform Unicode conversion as we have ECC5.0 NON UC and BW3.5 also NON UC(the final picture is of course ECC 6.0 and BI 7.0 or some latest).
Here I wander (as this are quite huge systems how to perform this.(I am afraid we will not be able to perform unicode conversion for productive ECC and BW at the same time).

I am designing an interactive catalog in a pdf. Is it possible to have the images as a thumbnail and then click them to enlarge the image and then click again to make them go back to the original size?

It can be done with Show/Hide buttons:
Here's a button created from a small version of the image (notice that it's selected in the image below):
The small button has a Show/Hide Buttons and Forms action. It's action is to make the Larger Image visible (eyeball turned on) with the small image hidden (eyeball turned off).
The large image is also turned into a button (shown below):
Notice the checkbox "Hidden Until Triggered". The large button is hidden until it's triggered by the small button. Clicking on the large image also causes a Show/Hide action which shows the Small button and hides the large button.

Is it possible to have the log in english and the out in an other langage

Hi,
I wonder if it is possible to always have the log of all submitted concurrent programms in english (for the production center - only english speaking- in case of errors) and the output for the end user in is own langage (polish, french for example). Of course, polish, french langage would have been installed.
It is also supposed that the informations in the log are not expected to be useful for the end user (I hope it is really the case)..

There is no such feature avilable in EBS standard functionality but I think this can be achieved through custom programs...
Basically during your custon pl/sql code, you need to run an alter session before generating logfile and alter session for NLS again before writing to output file...
I have not tried this yet but i hope this might work.

Oh yes... your alerts, ringtones and notifications are very customizable.
1. Select the Profiles icon
2. A box will appear where you can quick select between Loud, Vibrate, Quiet, Normal, Phone Only, and Off. If you wish to quick change the device profiles then select the one you want and exit out.
3. If you want to edit the tones assigned to the device applications then select the last option, Advanced
(some older models and OS 4.1 and below will not have the "Advanced" step--if Advanced is not present go directly to Step 4 below).
4. Select the profile you wish to edit. (Loud, Vibrate, Quiet, Normal (default), Phone Only, Off)
Note: on the 8100, 8800, and 8300 models: Do not click the trackball. Instead, click the menu key to the left of the trackball).
Note: The profile that is in use will say: (Active)
5. You will now see a list of all applications that can have a tone assigned (Browser, Calendar, Level 1 Messages, Messages ([email protected]), Messenger, MMS, Phone, SMS, Task ect..)
6. Select the application you wish to edit the tone / notification for
7. You can now edit Out of Holster and In Holster tones/ notifications.
a) Select between: None, Tone, Vibrate, Vibrate+Tone
b) Select the Tune you wish to use
c) Select Volume (options are Mute, Low, Medium, High, Escalating)
d) Select Number of Beeps (options are 1, 2, 3)
e) Select Repeat Notification (options are None, LED Flashing)
f) If set to Vibrate or Vibrate+Tone then select Number of Vibrations (options are 1, 2, 3)
8. Repeat a-e for each of the desired applications listed in 5 above

Is it possible to have a fixed column width and a URL link?

I am trying to achieve having a popup link on a column within a SQL report but also have the report column a certain width. I can have either or however not at the same time.
What I did was created a SQL report, edited a column and gave it a URL redirect (page in application) as normal.
For the fixed column width, I used:

And for the popup URL, I used:

I have a damaged disk and after talking to Apple Support I know I need to wipe my hard drive. I want to save as many of my files as possible, I have an external hard drive and when I boot in recovery HD, I can see my files, just not sure how to transfer.

I'm currently running Lion OSX, and I've already tried repairing the disk multiple times. At this point I really just want to rescue as much of my files as possible.

Is there any critical data on the external drive? If not, partition it so there is enough room for the operating system and a recovery tool that you buy from the store on one partition, and enough to completely recover the contents of the internal drive. Partitioning is described here:

In the options section of the partition tab, be sure to select GUID for both partitions after selecting them. Once done, install the operating system on the first partition, and then install the recovery tool on it. Finally run the recovery tool to exttact the info to the second partition.

You can increase the width of your Page, go into Inspector, Page Tab. From here you can adjust the Content Width, which is the width of your page, the bits that you see on the left and right are fillers, for people who's browsers are set bigger than your site. You can change the color that shows by changing the Browser Background.
In the good 'ole days, most people had screens that were only 800 W x 600 H, but these days most people have at least 1024 W x 768 H (some do, no doubt still have 800x600). So, 1024 is really the max width you can go, dont forget that you need to leave some space for the browser as well, and the scroll bars.
But pages this big are wider than normal, the best thing to do is experiment and see what works for you.

Possible to have different ports for incoming and outgoing email?

I need to set up a mail account in Mail where I read incoming mail from port 110, but to send outgoing mail I need to use port 587. Is this possible in Mail? Looks as if you only get to set the port once for both operations.

it is indeed possible. go to mail>preferences>accounts, select the account you already created then go to account information and to outgoing server list, click on the list, go to edit server list and in the advanced pane you can change the outgoing port. for the incoming port, again select the account you already created, then go to advanced, and type in the incoming port.

Is it Possible to have different sensitivities for trackpoint and bluetooth mouse.

I have an x200. I recently purchased an interlink electronics bluetooth mouse and connection and setup worked great.
The only problem is that the sensitivity that is good for my tackpoint is WAY too sensitive for the mouse.
Is there a way to set up different sensitivities for the bluetooth mouse and the trackpoint so that i don't have to toggle the sensitivity every time I plug in my mouse?

I was just wondering if i could adjust a setting or install drivers or something that will automatically change the sensitivity setting when my mouse is connected to the computer. I'm looking for that or something that will specify sensitivity settings for my mouse without affecting the trackpoint.

Iam facing with a peculiar problem. I developed custom component using JSF technology. There is a different rendering when I used RI and Myfaces for the same code base. How to overcome such a problem. Please reply.

Hi, it is normal, the rendered classes for the standard component have been implemented differently, so you have some differences. Normally, they should follow the SUN requirement but every one can code that following its own interpretation.

Is it possible to have an External HD start and stop on a Mini schedule?

My Mini is in a shelf where the buttons are inaccessible and I would rather not have to bother turning it on an off.

You can't control an external drive independently of the host system of course, but a Mac mini (indeed any Mac) can be powered up or down to schedule, using the scheduling options for that purpose in the energy saving preference pane. It's fairly rudimentary, allowing startup or wake at a user-specified time by weekday, weekend, every day or specific days and to sleep, restart or shutdown on the same range of options. The system can also be set to automatically restart after a power failure. External hard drives won't power down or up of course, but will typically sleep and rewake if the host system is powered down and back up.
If that fits your need, then these settings are very easy to control.
As to what drive is best - almost any external drive will be fast enough to cope with video because streaming video isn't all that demanding. However, it would be better to use a firewire-equipped drive than a USB, because firewire is more consistent in speed and throughput, while USB can be adversely affected by other system activities or devices.

First, your iPod can only be formatted for PC or Mac, not both.
Second, you can have content on your iPod that is not in your iTunes. I have music from 2 different PCs on mine. Make sure you only update your iPod manually.
Third, you can delete content from iTunes without affecting iPod as long as you manually update content on your iPod. Downside is that if your iPod has a problem and loses anything, how would you replace it?
Answer, burn your iTunes music to CD. That way you can restore it anytime you need to. You can even put all that music onto your next computer with the ginormous HD!

Possible to have both a 32bit kernel and 64bit?

I run an archlinux dom0 and currently have only 64bit domUs, I was trying to setup a 32bit domU.
I setup the domU in virtualbox and copied it over to my xen server. It started fine on a 64bit kernel, but I was missing any net interface. I was wanting to install a 32bit kernel (preferably the one provided by pacman), but unsure how to do so. I believe the 32 and 64 bit kernels provided both have the same names.
Any thoughts how I can do both without compiling my own?

As weird as it sounds, I did have the 32bit environment (as confirmed by running file on a few executables and checking uname) under a 64bit kernel, but not everything worked..
The only thing i'm trying to get under my 64bit dom0 is a 32bit kernel (only to be used in my 32bit domU) in addition to my 64bit kernel.

This is the default. Pretty much everything X-based is anti-aliased now. Has been for awhile.
Make sure you either setup your fonts in your browser to ones that will AA, or you set your defaults for Times, Sans, Serif, ect. in /etc/fonts/local.conf to ones that will AA. Otherwise they'll look ugly.
