Is it possible to have "additive" presets?

I’ve been mucking around recently with a preset that sets a bunch of development related settings along with a calibration profile. If I apply this to a new photo it’s great, but if, for example, I apply it to a photo that already has some exposure compensation then I lose my exposure compensation rather than simply altering the exposure compensation +/- the new value.
Is such a thing possible?

Indeed, this is a sorely, sorely missing feature and I would say my number 1 'gripe'. Working with raws, any available presets are basically useless, as they work in absolute mode: even though my RAW file may need adjustments just to look normal, those adjustments are thrown away when presets are applied.
Or to put it another way: working with raws, there's no way to tell what a preset will actually do. A "Antique Photo" preset will do a completely different thing to a photograph taken in daylight, than to a photograph taken under fluorescent lights.
Since we use Lightroom to enhance the workflow and work on hundreds of images from a shoot at a time (as opposed to PhotoShop which is useful when we need extensive editing to a single image), none of the workarounds make sense as they interrupt the workflow and force us to work on images one by one.
Ideally, I would be able to run a pass through my images and "normalize" them all - exposure & white balance corrections.
Then, I should be able to select them all, create virtual copies, and apply (say) a B&W preset. Then create another set of virtual copies and apply (say) a antique preset.
This is simple not easily possible under current setup. It should be programatically trivial, however, to create an option for presets to be relative (add +10 to brightness, -500degrees to temperature, +5 to black, +10 to recovery, etc), instead of absolute (set brightness to 50 no matter what, set temperature to 3750 no matter what, etc).
I'd pay money just for _this_ improvement, if it were available as a plugin even from a third party - so please! Help us out here

Congrats on LR6. I see a very nice speed improvement when working with my 36MP D800 files, especially when zooming in/out 100%. I still experience some hickups (controls sometime feel like they hang for half a second), but overall I enjoy the direction the speed upgrade is going. I look forward to the next updates.

Unless I am not looking correctly (and if so, please enlight me!), I can't seem to figure out how I can manage my Presets. At the moment, I have a bunch of folders containing presets. I would like to have the ability to move Preset Folders within Folders. I mean, how hard can this be to implement??
Users who have the VSCO presets will know what I mean. You have tons of folders containing presets. How about putting them all within one VSCO main folder?
Also, how about having the ability to search your presets? A simple search field at the top of the presets would do the trick.

Prelude CC does not have ProRes presets

Hi - I would like to use Prelude CC to convert my media to ProRes 422. It does not give me this option in the drop down menu. When I use Adobe Encoder CC this option appears. I've tried to download and install the codecs from Quicktime but that does not work either.

Went over to the off-line help part of the Adobe site to check out the Prelude manual ... read down and under "Ingestion" got to this:
7. To specify transcoding settings for the ingested files, select Transcode. Use the submenus to specify presets for transcoding the files. To
specify additional presets, add presets in Adobe Media Encoder. The presets are reflected in Prelude.
If you have Adobe Premiere Pro installed on your computer, select Stitch Clips Together to combine several selected clips into a single
movie clip. Specify a name for the movie clip. After ingest, the newly stitched clip is displayed in the Project panel.
8. To transcode the selected files in more than one format or to transfer files to multiple locations, click Add Destination. Repeat the procedure.
Only files transferred to the primary destination appear in the Prelude project panel when ingesting is complete.
9. Click Ingest.
Files are transcoded using Adobe Media Encoder. The transcoded files are displayed in the destination folder after the transcoding process is
complete.
So ... read the manual and it says if you want presets to go to A. Media Encoder, & make them there, right? Give that a try ...

Hello all,
Is it possible to export brush presets from Lightroom 4? I created custom brush presets on my laptop and I would like to export them and import them onto my desktop if at all possible. Did a bit of research online and could only find this link which only applies to 'Presets' in general, http://help.adobe.com/en_US/lightroom/using/WS2A36C507-E076-4b14-AAC3-87852595D175.html. Please let me know if this is possible or not as this would be a great time saver.

Brush Presets are stored in the "Local Adjustment Presets" sub-folder within the Lightroom settings folder structure. The location of the latter varies by Operating System, or if you have "Store Presets with Catalog" checked in your Lightroom Preferences (Presets Tab)....easiest way to locate them is go to that Presets Tab on the Preferences dialog and click on "Show Lightroom Presets Folder"....that will open a Finder/Explorter window with the Lightroom folder showing. Open that folder, find the Local Adjustment Presets sub-folder and copy the brush preset .lrtemplate files to your desktop. Repeat the process on the desktop to locate the Local Adjustment Presets sub-folder, then simply copy the brush presets into it. They should then show up in Lightroom on the desktop (you may need to restart Lightroom first).

Ok, so as the topic says is it possible to have 2 soundcards ?
I currently have SB X-FI Extremusic and my old Audigy 2 ZS.
I'm using my X-FI card atm, but I would need to use my Audigy 2 ZS to play Ravenshield.
So is it possible to have both card installed at the same time without having conflicts and beeing able to switch between those ?

Right click and save it;replace the file name with yer own[i.e.rename] ;with the file you can find in yer directory at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Creative\CADI\Preset\
Just replace and Rename this with the original and voila,you should now have the easily selectable eq settings of:
Blues,Country,Folk,Grunge,Heavy Metal,Metal,Oldies,Opera,Rap,Reggae,Swing and Techno
The original Eq settings are not altered and can be quickly identified by the extra "Eq" in front o name.
If this works well,i could go ahead with creating more eq settings and if someone has made a few they would wish to share,it would be a pleasure fer me to try them out.Also,remember that replacing this file over yer original will cause you to lose any of yer own custom eq settings;so it would be wise to make a backup o that file before you mess around with this one.

Is it possible to have a multiple FPGA cRIO system?

I am curios if it's possible to have a single cRIO chassis that can be expanded with additional FPGAs for computations. Meaning, I don't need more I/O but I do have algorithms taking up too much space and need a secondary FPGA to do some parallel processing. Data would be generated in the first FPGA and communicated to the second FPGA where additional processing takes place and then a response/command is sent back to the first FPGA to then be sent out through the I/O.

Althought this solution is dependent upon the PXIe bus it has the general feel for what I'd like. However, I need this in cRIO. Is there a solution that I've missed in my browsing of NI.COM?

A cRIO chassis only has 1 FPGA on it. You may be able to get an expansion chassis and pass the data off to it in order to do the processing. For what you are talking about, though, you would likely want to add some DIO so that you can directly communicate with the expansion chassis instead of going through the RT and Scan Engine.
Alternatively, get a cRIO that has a bigger FPGA and/or get with your local NI representative to see if you can get some time with an NI systems engineer who can help you optimize your code to fit on a single FPGA.

Use the Edit ➙ Shot Fonts menu option to bring up the Fost selection pane.
From there you can select any font you have installed on your Mac.

I was wondering if it is possible to load JAR files into an existing application. That is, if i have already deployed a JAD file onto a phone and have it running, is it possible to load additional classes into this program to use with the current program?
This is because depending on user decisions, different classes are needed and having all of them at once will use to much memory.

In a flash/director pop-up way, not really, but you can use
1.) Layered Menus (there are many discussions here about that, and most avoid them for tecchincal reasons.)
2.) Use an overlay so when a button is selected additional text is shown (all buttons are square/rectangle)
Few ways to approach it. The easiest way is to place thee buttons text on the background image then make an overlay so that the button AND description are on it, and set the button to cover both (asssuming you want the button to change also, otherwise you can just have the description.)

Big issue with AME CS6 Additional Presets for ProRes

Hello all,
I have downloaded the "AME CS6 Additional Presets for ProRes" on here : http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5411
When i try to select it to export in any of the ProRes format, an error message pop up. Here is a translation of what it is written (original is in french) : "Incompatible video codec detected in the preset. Loading the preset failed" / or for those who understand French : " Codec vidéo incompatible détecté dans la préconfiguration. Le chargement de la préconfiguration a échoué."
I have called Adobe support and they say they can't help me because ProRes is an apple codec/product.
I have called Apple support and they say they can't help me because CS6 is an Adobe product.
Of course they both told that the other one could answer my question.
So in the end they both told me to watch in forums. I was mad about those answers but, i guess I don't have a choice so, if anyone can help me with that issue, I would be very greatfull...

I finally found an answer !
It is very simple in fact but I will give you the tip if you are, like me, not an apple genius :
The preset that you can download on adobe's website can not work if you don't have the ProRes Codecs installed on your computer.
To Install them, download them from apples website and unpack them with "unpackage" a small freeware you can find quite easily on internet. Then you can add the prores codec to library/quicktime/folder.
I just don't understand why they couldn't tell me this morning.

Save an animation preset of your own from within After Effects. Doing so will also create the folder for user animation presets. Then you can install additional animation presets there.

Possible to Have ToC Default to Show Only Top Level (collapse sublevels)?

I'll bet I'm not the only one wishing for this. Let's say you're using Captivate 4's Table of Contents feature with a longish movie of Cp slides, which is chunked into bite-size sections content-wise. In the ToC, though, you can't mimic that same organization scheme; at least, the learner would first need to collapse all the ToC folders you've created so they see only the top-level listing.
This can be a critical issue: keeping the at-first-glance list in the ToC brief enough to be inviting to learners, yet allowing learners to drive which details are currently visible.
A movie's topical hierarchy could be along these lines, for example ...
Section 1 - National Brands
What are National Brands?
Why Are They Important to Our Business?
Working with Nat. Brands
Practice Your Knowledge
Section 2 - International Brands
What are International Brands?
Why Are They Important to Our Business?
Working with Intl. Brands
Practice Your Knowledge
You'd like to organize the ToC to show only the section titles (1st level) and to suppress the 2nd-level detail (slide titles) until the learner chooses to expand the folder to see those details.
I've tried things like grouping the slides into sections in the Storyboard view and organizing the slides into sections strictly within the ToC -- both to no avail.
Has anyone solved for this need yet?
I'm all ears, and you'd be doing learners of the world a huge favor.

Thanks for being 'on the case' and looking into this so quickly. Your
findings are encouraging, although my user base is generally working with
IE 6 and FP8 or 9.
Since the only thing I may influence is getting IT to help push out FP10,
I'm hoping it's more of a player- than a browser-version issue.
I'll test things out by Monday and let you know the results. Wish me luck!

blank project with 8 slides. Created my TOC with grouping... 2 slides in
each group. I turned on self paced learning. I tried with and without the
widget and it picked up where I left off in either case. See

Is it possible to have an attachment within a pdf doc print at the same time the main doc prints?

Okay, so this may be kind of a weird question. We have some users who are wanting to add a page to an already existing xml document and correct me if I'm wrong, but I've read that it's not possible to add/delete pages from a pdf that's in xml format. Since that is not possible, I have added the page to the xml document as an attachment. Now what I am wanting to know is if it is possible to have the attachment print out at the same time as the main document. We are using the latest version of Adobe Reader and I have access to Adobe Acrobat Standard 9 & 10 and then I have access to Adobe Acrobat Pro 7. I've been unable to find anyting via google or by searching this forum so hopefully I'll draw out some kind of smart cookies and we'll get this figured out. I appreciate any and all input!
