Is it possible to have songs remaining on a playlist after deleting them off the general ipod??

My leaving cert is coming up and i have created a  french playlist on my ipod touch, but i dont wont the eighty-somehting tracks on my general ipod, coming on after bands like metallica and guns n roses, but i want to keep them on the playlist! so can i just have them on the playlist and no where else on the ipod???!!

No, They Have To Have A Location To Be Able To Add To A Playlist, Deleting Them Will Delete The Location.

  • How to remove songs of innocence from playlist after deletion?

I have deleted the album via the apple link but it still shows in my playlist. I have turned off the show all music function and i still have the songs. i haven't downloaded any of them and when you try to click on them they don't play. so what should i do?

When you say "playlist," do you mean your iTunes library (on your computer)?  If so, this question is not related to your iPod nano, is that correct?
Or maybe you have an iPod touch (5th gen) with iOS 8.1?

  • Is there a way to have tv shows that have been downloaded onto the Ipad to delete them off the Ipad but still have them in icloud and on the computer?

I have downloaded tv shows onto my Ipad and I now want to move them off my Ipad. Is there a way to do that or not, once you transfer everything to a computer?

They are not stored in iCloud, not really.
If the are in the iTunes library on the computer, simply context the device to the computer and manage the content on the device via iTunes.

  • Can i delete my photos and videos from my mac if they have been exported to an external hard drive will they still be saved if I delete them off the computer but are backed on time machine? Can u explain time machine plz?

I am doing this because I have run out of space on my internal hard drive as I have over 100 GB of memory in pics.
I think I am misunderstanding how time machine works/how it backs things up.  Can someone please explain it to me? Thanks and I appreciate it! :)

    Rick,
For everything you should know about Time Machine, see http://pondini.org/TM/FAQ.html.
If your photos were on your internal drive then, yes, they are likely to have been backed up by Time Machine.
However, if Time Machine starts running out of space, it will delete old back ups and thus your photos aren't really 'safe' just on a Time Machine back up. What you really need to do is either:
    Buy another external hard drive for storing your photos and other files, or;
Back up your photos to DVD's: there are a number of cataloging apps that you can use to catalog your files or, if you have named them something specific, use something like DiskTracker.
Either way, don't rely on your Time Machine back-up to store your photos.
Good luck - call back if you need more information,
    Clinton

Yes it is done through iTunes. The iPhone will never show up in Finder as a device. The following is general information on iTunes sync: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1386 and the following is a previous discussion where the post by Andreas Junge helped others that had a problem syncing audiobooks: https://discussions.apple.com/message/20052732#20052732

Hello,  I have songs that show they are "Waiting" for download from the cloud but they are greyed out.  Some songs in one album are done others in the same album will not download. It is not a time function because i have been working on this for weeks. I have allowed my compter to run for days and the songs are still not accessible.  I have a Match subscription and Match is working.  If I click on the "Genre" link the greyed out songs show that they are ready for download from the cloud but I cannot download them.  I have downloaded over 1500 other songs, so I am trying to understand what is going on here. I would appreciate any help anyone can give me.
    Thanks

I did think about that and if I have to I will do that, however there are about 50 songs. I have closed and reopened iTunes several times and I am sure that I have the latest version. It fails right away but I can click on the cloud download icon and download the song that it failed on ... therefore it is not that song "or any one song" causing the issue. Any ideas?

  • Is there any way that I can have songs in an iTunes Playlist without having the songs play in my regular music list.  For instance: can I have a Playlist of Christmas songs without having them play in the routine shuffle of my music library?  Thanks -Rog

Select the songs, press CTRL+I to Get Info, on the Options tab set Skip when shuffling to Yes.
If you want to the hide the songs from your main music view you could consider changing the media kind to audiobooks or podcasts if you don't mind the side effect of them showing up there instead.

  • I recently downloaded Ios 7 and all the songs that i have purchased before but deleted off my itunes because i didn't want them showed up. I don't know how to delete them off my ipod and i really don't want them there

I recently downloaded Ios 7 and all the songs that i have purchased before, but deleted off my itunes because i didn't want them, showed up. I don't know how to delete them off my ipod and i really don't want them there. Is there a way to get them off? The songs dont show up in my itunes on my computer, just on my ipod with a download button next to them. I don't want them there anymore because i don't like that kind of music anymore and i don't know how to get them to go away.

There is a similar setting for Videos on that Settings screen, so if you leave that 'on' you may have similar happening in the Videos app

    An automated second page.

    There are two approaches.
If you wish to use AcroForm technology, then you would need to write a bunch of JavaScript to enable this.  It has been done, but it’s not trivial.
If you wish to use XFA technology, then it can be setup to happen automatically.
Be aware that in both cases, even though both technologies are part of the PDF standard, that the forms will only be usable in this manner in Adobe’s viewers as many others don’t support JavaScript or XFA.

I have an ipod nano and use one click digital to download books from my library.  My nano says I have 2449 songs which is about 65 books.  I have deleted all my playlists after I listen to the audiobook.  Now I get a message saying I don't have enough room on my nano to transfer new books to it.  My nano is 16 GB and my operating system is Windows 7.

iTunes and Apple's devices work as an ecosystem. iTunes is designed to sync with Apple's products, not anyone else's. You'll need your songs in a format compatable with the Samsung phone and to use the software transfer program supplied/recommended. It is essentially not an Apple/iTunes problem. You may have better luck finding the information you need on Samsung's forums.

  • HT3281 I HAVE DOWNLOADED SONGS INTO ITUNES. WHEN I GO TO FILE THE SYNC IPOD IS NOT HIGHLIGHTED. I HAVE SYNC SONGS SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE

I have downloaded songs into ITUNES and when I go to FILE the SYNC IPOD sign is not highlighted.
I believe I have previously used this method to sync to my Ipod!

Will the media file play with Quicktime Player? If it will then it's an iTunes issue. If it won't then you need to delete the file and download it a second time.

    Ash
P.S : if u could could you e-mail me and explain how if there is an option I can choose to stop the songs from going off my ipod when I delete them from my comp. e-mail me at [email protected]

You'll eventually want to Transfer music manually
    However:
Deleting songs off of iTunes or your computer is a very bad idea unless you have created one or more backup files of all your songs.
The iPod is really designed to be playback device - not a primary storage device (although it can be used as such), and certainly not as the only storage medium for all your music.
Using the iPod as the sole repository of any of your songs is a very risky practice. When (not ‘if’) you need to restore the iPod, return the iPod for service, or it's song files are somehow lost or damaged, you will be re-ripping all your CDs back into iTunes (time-consuming for any more than 10-20 CDs) and re-purchasing all your iTMS songs (expensive). Restoring the iPod is a common ‘fix’ to many small issues that arise.
If you cannot store your songs on a PC or within iTunes, then you will need to have some storage medium in use (an external hard drive, DVDs or CDs). You should also consider a secondary backup medium for additional safety. Whether you keep your music in iTunes or on an external source – Multiple copies of your music files are a must!
Always backup your PC files: both music and data. Backup as frequently as possible. The usual ‘metric’ is to determine just how much work (hours, days, weeks) or money spent you are willing to repeat by extending out your time between backups. Your choice, your potential headache &/or loss.
Many data-savvy folks have more than one backup and create incremental backups every time they add to or change their Library. Depending on the work I am doing, I may perform several backups during the same day. As they are incremental, and placed on my Backup ExHD – it is a very quick operation to perform several times a day, when needed.
If you are heavily invested in your Library data (Playlists, Play Counts, Ratings, Last Played, Date Added, etc.), then:
it is critical that you also make multiple backups of your ‘iTunes Library.itl’ file.
iTMS REMINDER: While you can always take the time to re-rip the CDs you own to restore your iTunes music, if you lose your iTMS purchased music and have no backups, you will have to re-purchase them. Few exceptions are made to this rule – at least none that I am aware of.
Here is a post on developing a backup strategy:
