Is it possible to have sub-folder events inside an event on iPhoto?

Is it at all possible to have an Event (eg. Pets) then have sub-events inside that event (eg. Dog, Cat etc.) in iPhoto?
I can't seem to find anything...

No it's not.
Basically, Events are organisation for those who can't be bothered. SImple date and time grouping of photos.
If you want more, now it's time to explore Albums and Folders.
So, a Folder called 'Animals' and within it, two Albums, one for 'Dog' and one for 'Cat'
Albums are much more flexible than events, you can arrange the photos within albums with much more flexibility. A photo can be in multiple albums using no extra disk space, whereas to have a photo in multiple Events requires a duplicate file and so on.
FWIW here's a canned answer I use to illustrate some of the organisation possibilities of iPhoto...
I use Events simply as big buckets of Photos: Spring 08, July - Nov 06 are typical Events in my Library. I use keywords and Smart Albums extensively. I title the pics broadly.
I keyword on a
Who
What
Where basis (The When is in the photos's Exif metadata). I also rate the pics on a 1 - 5 star basis.
Using this system I can find pretty much find any pic in my 50k library in a couple of seconds.
So, for example, I have a batch of pics titled 'Seattle 08' and a typical keywording might include: John, Anne, Landscape, mountain, trees, snow. With a rating included it's so very easy to find the best pics we took at Mount Rainier.
File -> New Smart Album
set it to 'All"
title contains Seattle
keyword is mountain
keyword is snow
rating is 5 stars
Or, want a chronological album of John from birth to today?
New Smart Album
Keyword is John
Set the View options to Sort By Date Ascending
Want only the best pics?
add Rating is greater than 4 stars
The best thing about this system is that it's dynamic. If I add 50 more pics of John to the Library tomorrow, as I keyword and rate them they are added to the Smart Album.
In the end, organisation is about finding the pics. The point is to make locating that pic or batch of pics findable fast. This system works for me.

Event inside an event

Alright, so I've figured out how to make multiple libraries in iPhoto. But now I'm interested in making an event inside an event. I have two iPhoto libraries (family and friends). For friends, I want to make one event per semester (fall 2006, spring 2007, fall 2007, etc...) and inside each of those events, have different events.
So in fall 2006 I would have six flags trip, barbeque, bowling night, etc... I originally made a new library for each semester, but this makes it annoying to work with faces, since I have to redo it for each library and since I can't view photos from one library while in another. That is why an event inside an event would be really convenient to have. Is there any way to do this?

No you can't nest an Event inside an Event.
However, what you can do is create a Folder (File -> New Folder) and name it
Fall 2006
And inside that you can have many Albums, for each of your occasions.
You can make a Album of an Event simply by dragging it to the Albums Heading. Albums take up no extra disk space.

Possible to have "sub-templates" in Dreamweaver ?

Hello, I'm new to website building using dreamweaver, but I
purchased a tutorial and I'm really starting to get it, though I
have a question, let's say I want to create a website similar to
this one : www.franzferdinand.co.uk
All pages of that site have the same upper menu, so I would
use a template for that in DW in order to easily change something
on all pages at once if needed.
Now go to the lyrics page, every song you choose takes you to
another website with the proper lyrics, if I want to add a song to
the list on the right, I would need to add it to all individual
lyrics pages, unless I have a template for that, but I'm already
using the templates feature for the upper menu of all other
webpages... so is it possible to have say "sub-templates" in DW ?

Personal opinion has nothing to do with it. Neither does "a
work of art".
There is a strong movement toward standards-compliant
websites and with good
reason, I think. A standards-compliant site is far more
likely to display
correctly on a wide variety of browsers and platforms, both
now and in the
future. One concern I have with the site you referenced is
that I suspect
some of the coding liberties the designer took were to
facilitate certain
design considerations. IOW function followed form. So to try
to emulate the
site's design might, I repeat might, force coding compromises
that could
undermine the site's functional structure.
If you're happy to build poorly-coded sites that is your
choice. A couple of
years? I can only hope that if you are planning to build
sites for others
you disclose that the shelf life of what you build will only
be a couple of
years. My clients would be sadly disappointed with such
quality.

Is it possible to have listener for orcale shut won event ?

We know that during normal shut down of the oracle database, message is sent to the clients. Is it possible to have listener for that event using JDC ?

This is not something that Verizon would handle or be able to change. It would be something that Google would have to change in the Android source code, or the OEMs in their device specific versions. Or you could just look for another app.

By choosing "Divide events", they don't stay in the same "folder".

I don't think you can do it. The only suggestion I can think of is to start a new iPhoto Library for 'Euro Trip'.

The HDMI port on your set top box is almoste certainly an output port and can't be used for the Apple TV.
There are hardware converters that will convert HDMI to various other types of output, however there are some issues with doing so that you should be aware of.
HDCP
HDCP compliant converters will not allow you to watch HDCP protected content such as that from the iTunes Store. Non compliant converters exist but we cannot discuss them under the Terms of Use for these communities.
Resolution and aspect ratio
I'm not aware of any converters that will scale the output from the Apple TV, any TV or projector which is used will need to be widescreen and support resolutions of 720p.

Is it possible to have the calendar "read back" the event created?

You can add an event to your calendar by recording or type in. I want the event to "speak back"
"read back" to me what it is at the time chosen on calendar.
This would be great for the blind also.
I have the alarm app that speaks back the time back to me at work, which is great.

Is it possible to have pictures not attached to an event?

So... I'm trying to organize the miriad of photos I have and have come to realize that I have several pictures that really aren't a part of any "event." For example, old school photos or baby pictures. So far I've just created a "event" by the person's name and put his or her old baby and school pictures in there. Is there a way that I can simply organize these photos using faces and have them completely left out of the 'events' organization scheme?

events is a display of the library and photos have to be in your library
You can view photos in four ways - Events, photos, faces and places - but all four ways are accessing the same photos in the same library
You can ignore events but they are there - just don't worry about the name - call them baskets - or photo albums - or rolls (although iPhoto will still call them events

Fire non-user defined event inside another event

I want to call a normal/non-user defined event after an operation has occured inside a different normal/non-user definded event. Is this possible?
The reason I don't want to use a user defined event is that if this can be done this way it would be much cleaner implemenation. Also, cleaner than using a sub-vi which would require a lot of wiring.

From my experimentation with this, it appears that the fired event
will not actually execute until the event currently being executed
(the one that fires the other event) is completely finished. The
"time" terminal of the second event idicates the time when it was told
to fire, but it does not actually execute then. You cannot say do
steps 1,2,3 in an event, temporarily leave that event to do code in
another event, then come back to the first event and complete steps
4,5. If the second event is fired after step #3, then steps 4 and 5
will finish first before the second event executes. This contrasts
with other languages such as Delphi were you can leave one event
temporarily.

Is it possible to have an event within an event?

I have an event named for my niece, and I have all the pictures of her in it. I'm wondering if it's possible to have events within events, so I can just have 1 event with her name, then when you click on it, sub-events named things like "Christmas" "Thanksgiving" etc.?

no - events are time based and can not be nested - use albums and smart albums which can be placed in folders and folders can be placed in folders for that kind of organization - Europe folder containing France and Italy folders each containing cities as an example
Events are just a very basic and inflexible organization for people to start with - albums, folders, keywords and ratings are where the power is

Move clips from timeline to event sub folder?

Is there a way to move clips in the timeline that I have cleaned into a sub folder in an event library?
I come from a non FCP background and still trying to wrap my mind/workflow around the FCP formula. Generally I clean clips and drop "some" into a "to be used later" folder.
Example - While on location I might shoot some location shots while im waiting around. The locations shots will use in the last 3 mintues of a 25 minute finished project. When I get to post I edit and clean all clips in the order they are received. When I find the location clips I simply move them to a folder labled "to be used later". When I get to the section of the project/timeline were the clips are needed I drag them or the entire folder into the timeline.
I see how to make a folder inside an event but I am not able to drag a clips from the timeline to this created folder. I have tryied to hold down Shift, CMD, OPT, CTRL and have no sucess.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. I feel you really understood my concern and gave me some good viable options.
There is a lot for me to learn and unlearn. I have been editing for over 16 years and most of that time I was using Edius. This is big paradigm shift coming to the Mac and FCPX.
The idea for me is to edit the video and move the "to be used later clips" into a bin/folder instead of moving them to the location in the timeline were they will be used at that very moment. Its just a preference, I know plenty folks would just move the clip to the location. Edit software is just a tool I have to decide if FCPX is the right tool for me.

Of course. To do it, open a Finder window, go to Finder menu (on the menu bar) > Preferences > General, and untick "Open folders in tabs instead of new windows".

I have over 50,000 photos. Events no longer show up. How do I create a new iPhoto folder like in the old days with iPhoto Manager?

I have no idea how it happened, but like Asbjornu, "I had managed to sort the events "manually" (View > Sort Events > Manually) which hid the newly created events in-between my rather large amount of existing events. Sorting by date (View > Sort Events > By Date + Descending) shows my new events first in the list as they should."

                           Quit iPhoto.
                           Hold down the Option key as you open iPhoto.

                           Type a name and choose a location to store the new photo library.

3) As far as the corrupted iPhoto is concerned,
trash or anything else, try rebuilding iPhoto (but
only after making a copy of your current iPhoto
library on an external disk, naturally).
Once the copy is made, close iPhoto, and
wait until you won't be using iPhoto or your computer for a long time
(like before you go to bed). Close all other apps, or as many as possible,
and reopen iPhoto while holding down the Option and Command keys
at the same time. Keep the buttons down until you get a page with a series
of half a dozen unmarked boxes or more, mark them ALL, launch rebuild,

HT1386 I am trying to sync my iPod Touches calendar to my MacBook Pro calendar. I have been successful at syncing the events from my MacBook Pro's iCal to the iPod but haven't been able to sync the events from my iPod to my MacBook Pro. Is this possible?

I have an iPod touch that I often use to manage different events for work. I have been able to sync the events on my calendar from my MacBook Pro to the iPod touch successfully using wifi. What I really need to do though is sync my iPod calendar events to my MacBook Pro calendar. Is this possible? How do I set this up? It would be a huge help if I could transfer the events on my iPod calendar to my computers calendar. I currently have the wifi sync option on and have turned on the sync calendars option in iTunes. For any given Bookmarks folder, is it possible to have the subfolders all appear *above* the individual links (as they do in Internet Explorer), rather than mixed together alphabetically? (Or is there perhaps an add-on that will allow me to do this?)

Provisional solution is to place one or more zeros in front of your folder names, that way they should always appear on top in their alphabetical order.
