Is it possible to hide "Erase All Content and Settings" using Apple Configurator?

How we can hide "Erase All Content and Settings" button from iPod devices using Apple Configurator? we have purchased these devices under enterprise deployment.

not at all. for the moment we handle this problem by writing an image everytime we (think we) have to update the itunes u content. an update becomes necessary when users give us the iPad back and we recognize that there is good new stuff on it or whenever colleagues tell us to do so.
With a new rollout of this image we offer new itunes u content on our iPads.

  • Will 'Erase All Content and Settings' remove Apple ID from my iPad 2?

    Hi all.
I've read that Erase All brings the iPad back to how it was when it left the shop. But I need to comfirm something 'cos here's the situation:
    1. I just sold my mum's iPad to a third party shop. All done, or so I thought.
    2. I get a text asking for my Apple password so they can format the iPad.
    3. I reply that it's not needed for Reset All/Erase All. (NOTE: No Passcode was set on iPad)
    4. I get a text today saying: "But we need to change the app store. Otherwise if any other person buy it they cannot create new account. Maybe you can come and type it. After that we can reset in front of you."
Does the shop really need my password? I was under the impression that Erase All would do a factory reset and clear my Apple ID from the IPad too. Then the next person just sets up their own ID.
By the way, this is not a shop I really trust which is why I'm being so cautious. Also, I don't fancy going all the way there again.
Thanks so much in advance and sorry for the long ramble

  • Erase All Content and Settings on my iPod Touch

I'm trying to delete an old email address from my iPod Touch. It doesn't show up in Contacts and it has been deleted from my AOL, Yahoo, and gmail Contacts lists both in my iPod and on the laptop I use to synch the iPod. When I open my iPod and click to compose email it doesn't show up in the possible matches pop up while I'm typing the address. However, if I'm writing an email from an open app it does. I think I entered it manually one time rather than from my contacts list and it's stored in my iPod somewhere but I can't find it to delete it. A friend has suggested clicking on the Erase All Content and Settings but I'm not sure if I can re-synch with iTunes to restore apps and music and, if I can, I'm not sure if it will come back when I restore the apps.
I'm asking if that may be a possible solution to my problem and if I do that will I be able to restore content, including any purchased apps by re-synching with iTunes? I'm concerned with losing something I can't replace. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Ok, thanks for the response. I just have two more questions:
    1) In my iTunes when I connect the iPod to my laptop I and click on My iPod, under Apps I get a listing of all my optional apps with boxes to be checked if I want them installed down the left side of the page, with the exception of the standard apps that are included with the iPod, like Photos, for instance, which cannot be removed through iTunes. Am I correct in assuming that these standard apps will automatically be restored when I re-synch?
    2) What about photos I have taken with my iPod? Will I lose those? Is there a way to send them in bulk to my laptop first before erasing everything so that I won't lose the photos I've taken? When I go to the Photos folder in iTunes I can't tell which pictures are there and which are only in the iPod.

  • I need to erase all Contents and Settings from my i phone 5 but I forgot the restrictions passcode. How can I get it. ( Idon't have access to i tunes). Thanks.

I need to erase all Contents and Settings from my i phone 5 but I forgot the restrictions passcode. How can I get it. ( Idon't have access to i tunes). Thanks.

Not possible.  You need access to iTunes.
The passcode will be required to make changes to these settings or to disable Restrictions. Note: If you lose or forget a restriction passcode, you will need to perform a factory restore to remove it.

  • How can i get my photos back after i erased all content and settings

Okay so i had a Iphone 5c and broke it so they shipped me a new one, And as i was trying to set my new one up the paper said to go to settings and back up my phone and then erase all content and settings from my damaged device, So i did. And for some reason i cant find anything in my icloud account.
How can i get all my pictures back onto my phone but the knew one? Is that even possible? Or can i find them anywhere else? Like how can i restore a back up? I think thats what it is. I just need my pictures back really bad, Any suggestions!? Please help me

I had saved my photos on my WD My passport but I think it was only saved like a preview.
We need to know more, to be able to understand what you have done.
How did you save your images to the external drive? Did you copy your Aperture library there?
Is your Aperture library referenced or managed - did you store the original image files outside the Aperture library or are they included in your Aperture library?  If you have referenced images, did you back them up too?
The error message you are seeing, shows that Aperture cannot find the original image file. That is indicated by the yellow warning badge with the arrow.
If your Aperture library is referenced, you need to restore your backed up original image files as well from their backup, and then use the the command "File > Locate Referenced Files" to reconnect the image versions with the missing original files.  Do you have a backup of the originals? If you cannot restore your referenced originals, you can turn your previews into new originals; post back, if you need help with that.
If your Aperture library is managed, and all your originals are included inside your Aperture library, try if the Aperture Library First Aid Tools can fix this:
Repairing and Rebuilding Your Aperture Library: Aperture 3 User Manual
Check if the "Masters" folder inside your Aperture Library contains any image files: Crtl-click the Aperture library and use "Show Package Contents". Are the missing original image files inside?

  • Can I Erase all Content and Settings without Plugging my iPad into iTunes?

Is it possible to run a full factory reset on iPad running iOS 5.0.1 without plugging it into iTunes?
Yes, I do realise that iOS updates can be performed now without iTunes on ios 5.0
Has anyone ever performed an "Erase all Content and Settings" without the use of iTunes lately (with iOS 5.0 or later)

Yes - you can do a full factory reset without using iTunes.
I have never done it, but what you are saying is exactly how you do it. Erase all content and settings and then restore using iCloud. Read this article and it explains it. It is pretty straightforward.

  • How do you erase all content and settings on my iPad? I've done this 11 time and it won't erase.

How do you erase all content and settings on my iPad? I've done this 11 time and it won't erase. I now have to wait 1 hour.

You are entering one of two possible codes incorrectly.
    1.  The device's passcode.  If you forgot it, here's the cure:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212
    2.  The Activation Lock (Apple ID and password).  Your Apple ID and password are now required to erase the device - an anti-theft measure.  Here's a writeup about that:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH13695
If you don't have the Apple ID and password, the device will never be able to be erased.

  • If I erase all content and settings, can I still make calls?

I've got a lot of 'Other' content on my iPhone that won't go away. (I suspect that it's corrupted music files.) I think the only way I can actually get rid of it is to do an 'Erase all content and settings' and basically hard-reset my iPhone to factory specs.
My question is this: Will my phone still be able to make and receive calls after I do this? It'll still be my phone, won't it? It won't forget its own number or anything like that? I want to keep the phone, of course, just get rid of that **** 'Other'. So if I erase all content, will this be possible?

Doing this will not prevent you from using it as a phone, provided that after erasing it you go through the steps to complete its setup.  As you'll see, you'll be prompted to re-enter your Apple ID, etc. once you complete the "Erase all content and settings" process.  At that point you'll be prompted to load a prior backup, either from iCloud or iTunes, but that is optional.  You may want to first try loading your prior backup to avoid having to re-do everything on the iPhone.  Putting your prior backup onto the iPhone may not result in a swollen "Other" as you have now, but maybe it will (if so, just do this again but don't install a backup).

  • I erase all content and settings no backup and iphone from other country

    HELP....
im in indonesia,my friend sent me an iphone 3g from japan .Iphone Sim card registered from a japan carrier (SOFT Bank--- Unuseful).
I might have experimented, and just wanting to restore the iphone to its original state, i initiated an "erase all content and settings" and iphone not working.
After putting it in DFU (Device Firmware Update) and restoring it,now only get a images with itunes and usb cable and the option of emergency calls and No other options.
connect with Itunes, says 'SIM card inserted in this iphone does not appear to be supported
    Anybody can HELP me....
What can I possibly do to fix it??
    THX before

To Restore, you need the SIM card that came with the iPhone. Restoring the phone without a proper SIM card installed (in your case, a SoftBank SIM) 'bricks' the iPhone.
Your phone cannot be used in Indonesia (unless it's linked to a SoftBank account and you're paying the huge bill for international roaming).
Telkomsel cannot change the setting. (Nor will they even service your phone - iPhone warranty coverage is limited to the country of purchase).
As above - send the phone back, get an iPhone from Telkomsel.

  • Does Erase all contents and settings in 2.0.2 wipe the firmware updates?

I am about to sell my ipod touch on ebay and to ensure that all my data is cleared I have used the erase all contents and settings option that 2.0.2 introduced. The question is does this return the touch back to the factory firmware (1.4 I think), unable to check without starting to sync new device to itunes again.

I believe that option has been available since earlier firmware versions. My understanding is that it does not affect the software/firmware on the iPod. From what I've been told, once the iPod is updated to 2.x.x it is not possible to go backward to a 1.x.x version. If anyone's been able to do this successfully, please correct me. You should be able to hold 'Shift' when clicking Restore in iTunes, so you might try that to see if 1.1.4 is an option to restore the iPod to.

  • Help, I did an "erase all content and settings"

    Hi...
I bought an iphone 3gs from australia, as ive heard that all iphones sold there are unlocked from the apple factory.
Now, when I got it, i pumped it all full of apps, just experimenting a bit...
Finding that I might have experimented a bit much, and just wanting to restore the iphone to its original state, i initiated an "erase all content and settings"
I know now that I probably should just have reset it from itunes.
After putting it in DFU (Device Firmware Update) and restoring it, I now only get a screen with the option of emergency calls. No other options.
itunes doesnt recognice the phone, I can reset it from itunes, but that just leads to the same result.
Itunes says I should go to settings on the phone and initiate a restore, but I cant go anywhere on the phone, as I only have the emergency call screen.
It should be said that I bought the phone in australia so that I would not have to have one of those horribly expensive norwegian contract carriers.
Therefor I do not have a valid iphone Sim.
Only my regular one ofrom OneCall.
    Have I royally f*ed up?
What can I possibly do to fix it??

I bought an iPhone 3gs from Australia, as I've heard that all iPhones sold there are unlocked from the Apple factory.
No, but the Australian carriers will unlock them for a fee.

If it was not officially unlocked by the Australian carrier, but was unlocked by jail-breaking, the Restore will relock it.
iTunes doesnt recognice the phone, I can reset it from itunes, but that just leads to the same result.
What SIM do you have in the iPhone?
iTunes says I should go to settings on the phone and initiate a restore, but I cant go anywhere on the phone, as I only have the emergency call screen.
It should be said that I bought the phone in Australia so that I would not have to have one of those horribly expensive Norwegian contract carriers.
Did you buy it from an official Australian cell provider? Did you ask to have it unlocked?
Therefor I do not have a valid iphone SIM.
All iPhones come with a SIM installed.
Only my regular one ofrom OneCall.
Was it working with that SIM?

  • I gave my ipad 2 to my brother last month. After that he erased all content and settings, sign in with his apple id. The next day until now, I found out that I can not udpate my apps both on my iPhone and iPad Air. What should I do? Thank you in advance.

I gave my ipad 2 to my brother last month. After that he erased all content and settings, sign in with his apple id. The next day until now, I found out that I can not udpate my apps both on my iPhone and iPad Air. I had create new apple id, change my password, delete the icloud acc. But still I can not update my apps. I have many of red notifications on iPhone and iPad Air. What should I do? Thank you in advance.

    1. It is never a good idea to include personal info like your email address or Apple ID in a post on an open forum.
    2. The email you received DOES NOT say your Apple ID cannot be used to unlock this iPad. The email informs you that your Apple ID was used to unlock an iPad. Fortunately the iPad is yours. The message confirms that. If your Apple ID was used to unlock an iPad that was not yours your would then know to change your password. Since the iPad is yours you do not need to change your password.
    Is your iPad working?

  • HT201274 I was given an iphone 4s by my sister as she got a new one, now i want to clear it so that i can set it up with my own details, if i erase all content and settings will this affect anything on her new iphone as it is synced to the same gmail acco

I was given an iphone 4s by my sister as she got a new one, now i want to clear it so that i can set it up with my own details, if i erase all content and settings will this affect anything on her new iphone as it is synced to the same gmail account

her contacts are connected directly with the Google Server so as long as they are saved to her Gmail account she should be 100% fine.. the only contacts she may lose are the ones that she added directly onto the phone and did not sync to her Gmail account.. so you should just double check with her on that

  • If I 'Erase all content and settings' on my iPod touch will it delete my music?

So yesterday my email changed so I changed my Apple ID email. I did it and typed the password in and stuff and it was fine. Then, it went really dodgy when I logged out of my old Apple ID and in to my new one. It kept popping up on my screen 'username or password for 'iCloud is incorrect' so I went to check my iCloud things and it wouldn't let me log into my new account. Also, it wouldn't receive iCloud mail that I have and it also won't back up my iPod. That's when I thought of resetting my iPod. But, because my Apple ID is dodgy I'm nervous about it deleting music. I've heard you can log out, reset then log in again but I don't know whether I'll be able to... I want to delete EVERYTHING apart from music.

As it says, Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Settings Erases Everything.
Y can do this to move the music to a computer.

However, just what did you do? Could you have created a new account vice change the contact email address?
I no longer have an email address that was also my Apple ID. Can I still use the email address as my Apple ID?
Apple recommends you change your Apple ID to your current, working email address. This will not create another Apple ID, it will only change it to your working email address. See Changing the name you use for your Apple ID if you'd like more information.
Note: @mac.com and @me.com Apple IDs can not be renamed.  If you no longer use the .mac or .me email address be sure to add your valid email address as an additional email address.

I wish to reset my ipad (as advised by the Apple Store) to attempt to resolve an issue with a non-responsive part of the screen..  However, when I select General>Reset>Erase all content and Settings, I am prompted for a a Restrictions Passcode (which I have never set).  I have now entered random codes 11 times and the ipad has not reset. How do I get past this?  I am now at the point where I have to wait 60 mins before I can enter another random passcode.  I just want the ipad to clear down, erase everything so I can start again.
