Is it possible to hide Tools pane in the Reader?

I am trying to remove all modes of communication from the users, so they can't Save, print email e.t.c., however, the Tools pane is not customizable. Is there any way to remove or disable Tools pane? Is there any common guide to FeatureLockDown registry keys?

There is no way to force interface changes on other systems with a PDF. You can "protect" a PDF to prevent viewers from making any changes
http://www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/products/acrobat/pdfs/adobe-acrobat-xi-protect-p df-file-with-permissions-tutorial-ue.pdf
That said, there is always a way around it and short of applying DRM to your PDFs, if someone wants to badly enough, they'll find a way to "crack" your protection.

  • Hide Tools pane in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC?

How can I permanently hide the options that appear on the right side of my screen when I use Adobe Acrobat Reader DC to open a document or image I've saved on my desktop screen?

Solution by tmmcentyre.  It works for me.

Go to the install directory, i.e." C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat Reader DC\Reader\AcroApp\ENU". Create a new subfolder (I used "Disabled"). Move 3 files from the "ENU" folder into the new "Disabled" folder: AppCenter_R.aapp & Home.aapp & Viewer.aapp. Open a PDF and no more Tool Pane!  I originally moved just the "Viewer" file but if you clicked on "Home" or "Tools" on the toolbar you couldn't go back to the "Document." Moving all 3 files takes care of that issue. Like a lot of people I don't and won't ever use any of the tools. I just want a reader. Let me know if this works for you.

  • Disable/Always Hide Tools Pane? (Reader DC)

How do you disable the Tools Pane from showing every time you open a PDF file? I keep having to hide it and it gets annoying after awhile when one doesn't need it.

    Hi Morisatos123,
Tools Pane is a core part of user interface in Adobe Acrobat DC & Reader DC, so it can not be permanently disabled.
Some of our customers have raised the same issue & like then you too can fill the feature request form at https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
Let me know if you have any other query, we will be happy to help you.

I want the Tools Pane hidden whenever I use Acrobat Reader DC.
I do not want to have to use keyboard shortcuts like shift-F4, or Control-H.
Nor do I want to have to click on a toolbar item.

  • Hide Parameter Pane using Report Properties Code

    Hi,
I want to collapse the Parameters pane by default when the users view the report through the URL.
I have read other similar threads and understood the below.
It is possible by appending the command rc:Parameters=Collapsed. But this is only in ReportServer URL and not in Reports URL.
This works fine. But, when the user accessing the report from
http://servername/ReportServer, you cant expect him to append this text everytime. I also found that it can be somehow achieved using Report Properties Code. But, since Im new to that, unable to get how to achieve the same.
Could someone share an example of how to set the default property of rc:Parameters to Collapsed using Code?
    Thanks,
    Akalya

    Hi Akalya,
According to your description, you want to hide parameter pane when the user accessing the report from Report Manager. To achieve this goal, we can click “Show/Hide Parameters” arrow to hide the parameter pane after view the report from Report Manager.
Besides, if I understand correctly, you had specify default values for all report parameters, so you want to hide parameter pane. If in this scenario, we can hide all parameters and then the parameter pane will be hidden.
For example, open the report Properties page on Report Manager and go to Parameter tab, click the "Hide" selection for all parameters. We can also hide the parameters by specify the parameter visibility with "Hidden" before you deploy the report to Report
    Server.
If there are any other questions, please feel free to ask.

  • InDesign CS2 issue with tools pane

For some reason the tools pane is blank and has been this way for a while now. I have used the software long enough not to need the pane so I am not sure when it stopped working, but I cannot get it to show the tools. It is just a blank rectangle. I upgraded to Leopard a while back, but am not sure that is when this started or not. Is there anything I can do to fix this without having to reinstall the software? Also, I can click on the tools pane where the different tools are and select the tools, but it is like shooting in the dark for tools I don't use that often.
    Thanks.

    Couple of things to try...
Upgrade to the latest version of Leopard (10.5.2). Does this make the palette useable..?
You could also try deleting the prefs for InDesign. Hold down Command, Alt, Control & Shift immediately after you launch InDesign. You will be prompted with a message to delete the prefs.
This will delete any saved presets you may have configured along with workspaces. So back themm up prior to trying this.

  • Possible to hide browse sequences?

I have a few topics in my chm that do not contain browse
sequences. They are standalone topics that do not appear in the TOC
or index. When the help is called from the application, they are
launched in the right pane of the chm. The problem I have is that a
"default" browse sequence will still appear at the top of the chm
even though the topics don't have any assigned browse sequences. For
these topics, is it possible to hide the browse sequences from
    appearing?

    Hi Emmanuel
Actually this should be possible. What you would do is to
create a new window that would be used for your context sensitive
calls. Then when your developer calls the help, they specify the
window it should appear in. That window would be configured with no
    browse sequence bar.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Adobe Reader 11.0.03 - tools pane opens automatically by default

I just deployed the latest adobe reader MSI patch through group policy, but in this patch, the tools pane is opened automatically. Most of my users don't use it, much less know how to close it. The problem is that there is no typical "close", "x" or ">>" icon, so users are unaware that they can close it. Even I had to think a moment on how to actually close it (by clicking the "tools" button").
The group policy ADM template doesn't offer an option to close this pane.
Is there another method that I can use which closes (or disables) the tools pane by default? Possibly a registry setting of some sort? An MST setting?

    Found a solution:
Using the Adobe Customization Wizard XI, open the MSI, go to the section named "online and adobe online services" and tick the box that says "disable the tools pane in reader".
Then, generate the transform. If it complains about missing a setup.ini file, just create a blank text file named setup.ini in the same folder as the MSI file.
After that, deploy using GPO, and make sure to include the MST modification file.

  • A solution to hiding tool pane by DEFAULT in Reader DC

After I upgrade to Reader DC, there is always a tool pane when I open a pdf file. However, it is useless for most people at most time.
Although we can turn it off by clicking the arrow or use shortcut shift+F4, it cannot be turned off by default.
I do not understand what those people are thinking. How can they come up with such design!
One VP replied that it may take ~3months to fix this -- this is too long if they really want to fix the problem, only by switching the default setting.
Anyway, after searching this forum, I found one solution by tmmcentyre to hide the tool pane
This is only an ad-hoc solution, but works well for me.
Hopefully Adobe can consider this ugly design seriously, and fix it asap.
I just want to spread this solution so that people like me can find a solution to get rid of the annoying tool pane.
    From:
    https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1817184
    Thanks to tmmcentyre

I created this solution because I had problems switching back and forth between "Home", "Tools", and "Document" after applying the move/delete fix:
I edited the XML file "Adobe/Acrobat Reader DC/Reader/AcroApp/ENU/Viewer.aapp" to contain only this line:
    <Application xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/acrobat/app/2014"title="Viewer" id="Viewer" majorVersion="1" requiresDoc="true"minorVersion="0"/>
    What this does (for me):
The right hand pane <RHP> is completely hidden (no unhide available) at Reader startup.
To use a tool you have to switch to "Tools" and select a tool. If the tool places content in the <RHP> the pane is shown. In any case, if you switch back to the document, unhide is available again afterwards, although with no content, except from some tool you might have activated in the current session.
This solution deletes the <Layouts> for the <RHP> resulting in the <RHP> being hidden (and empty by default).

  • Easy way to hide menu & tools items in Adobe Reader

    Hi,
I'm trying to hide some items of the toolbar in reader.
Is it possible by passing parameters in an URL ?
I don't want to use the parameter toolbar=0 because I need zoom item.
I read it's possible by using javascript but I don't know how to do !
    Thanks for your answer;

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).<br />
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]<br />
    <br />
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.<br />
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.<br />
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
