Is it possible to highlight text without a pop-up  being made in Acrobat XI?

I am trying to figure out if its possible to highlight text without a pop-up being made as I am using the highlighter tool to just mark  important information for quizzes and do not need a pop-up made each time I highlight! Is there a way to disable pop-ups being created? Thank you for your time.

Thanks for your reply Dave, but I want to know if a pop-up has to be created internally when highlighting. Can you disable to sticky note part of the highlight?
Here's an example: I highlight my college books and don't need all those pop-ups being made behind the scenes. In Acrobat X, all of my highlights would slow down the program immensely,
thankfully in XI, it doesn't happen at all, nor do I want it to in the future. Thank you for your time.

  • Is it possible to highlight text without using the mouse?

I would like to apply the comment/highlight tool in Acrobat without using the mouse.
I select text with shift + cursor. What is the quickest way of highlighting the selected text then? I do not want to use the mouse.
From the programme help I learned that the keyboard shortcut U selects the highlighting tool. But it does not apply highlighting to text selected with the cursor.
    Any suggestions?
    Many thanks in advance!

  • Is it possible to highlight text in Apple Mail for incoming mails and outgoing mails?

Is it possible to highlight text in Apple Mail for incoming mails and outgoing mails?

If you mean that you wish to highlight messages from certain people or domain names, then if you select Preferences under 'Mail' (top left hand corner next to the Apple logo when you're in the mail application) and then select the right hand icon marked 'rules', then click on Add Rule and hopefully the rest is fairly self explanatory.
    Best of luck

  • Extracting highlighted text WITHOUT additional rubbish

    Hi
I have Acrobat 8 standard and I wish to extract (either into word or pdf) my highlighted sentences and along with sticky notes comments WITHOUT the date, authors name or subject. I can easily extract this information with all these details. I have looked at the Summarize Comments' options, but it does not let me remove the author, subject or date. All I want is the comments printed in a list format nothing else.
    Is this possible?
    Cheers

You can make your one PDF report or placing the comments context in the JavaScirpt console and include only the annotation properties that you want.

  • Is it possible to highlight text on Adobe Digital Editions?

So I decided to download an "eBook" for college for the first time, since it's cheaper than a physical book.
It's on Adobe Digital Editions (1.7.2.1131)
What I normally do in text books, is I highlight key texts from a chapter.
I figured you'd have the ability to highlight on each page, and then come back and view the highlighted material later. Talk about frustrating.
Is it possible and I'm just not seeing it?
I guess the second best thing for now is to re-write the text in the bookmarks.

Add the book to the Library (or bookmarks wont work), then select the text and click on the "Add Bookmark" button (towards the top  between the printer and the font size buttons).

  • Is it possible to highlight text in Pages

I have a document that I am working on with a friend. I would like to be able to direct his attention to particular words or phrases by highlighting them, e.g., by placing them in a yellow background.
Is this possible in Pages? If so, how do I do it?
    Thanks,
    Eric WEir

Thanks, Walt. I was aware that they can be hidden, but for what I'm working on -- a document that's been under constant revision for a while -- I find it helpful occasionally to the document with the comments.
    But thanks just the same.
    Sincerely,
    Eric Weir

  • Exporting highlighted text

Is there any way to export just highlighted text from a PDF?

Satyadev is correct. If this is critical for you, it's theoretically possible using JavaScript on the Adobe Acrobat Professional desktop product but we don't support any of the Annotations JavaScript API. I like the idea of extracting just the highlighted text (without JavaScript). Thanks for the suggestion!

  • Highlighting  text (as in Word)

Hi - Is is possible to highlight text, that is color over text, in a similar way to how it can be done in Word. I use this feature in Word a lot for editing & redrafting purposes!
    Many thanks!

*A slightly more efficient system of highlighting text: (and possibly slightly more efficient than MSword as well as you can highlight text with a keyboard shortcut after a simple initial setup.)*
    *+step 1+*
    select text. apply background colour.
    *+step 2+*
open styles drawer through menu or shiftcmdt
    *+step 3+*
_select again_ the text you applied the b/g colour to previously. in the styles drawer, under character styles, click the little upside-down triangle and click +create new character style from selection+. name your style.
    ( *+step 4+* - *Keyboard shortcut and use* )
click on the upside-down triangle for options on your new style and add a hotkey. f6 works fine as it's not usually already assigned to another function. _*now, highlight away by selecting text and either clicking on the highlight style in the styles drawer, or simply pressing f6.*_
    ( *+step 5+* )
to maintain the highlight style you created in the styles drawer as a default style for all documents, use this tip by Dennis from another post
+Start with a blank document, set it up the way you want (fonts, views, rulers, styles, etc.), then click on File > Save As Template. Finally, click on Pages > Preferences > and set that template as your startup document. That way, every time Pages opens, you'll have your preferred styles right there handy.+
If you don't want to mess with templates for some odd reason, you can always import the style from a previously highlighted document to which the style you created is attached. Use Format -> +Import Styles+

  • Highlight Tool without comments?

Is there anyway to simply highlight text without adding a popup comment box with Adobe Reader 9? I tried looking online to no avail, and I tried other Comment and Markup Tools, but they all have the popup. If I have no choice, I guess I can live with it, but I don't really have a use for the comments box and I feel like the document would look cleaner without them. Any and all help is appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

Try playing around with the settings under Edit - Preferences - Commenting
I think it's the one called "Create new pop-ups aligned to the edge of the document", but it might be something else on that page.

  • Highlighting text in  Preview

Unexpectedly, a strange alteration to how I can highlight text,  when reading a pdf in Preview has occurred. I used to be able to check the highlight icon in the annotations bar and that's about it. Now when I intend to highlight text, the colour extends to being four lines wide, and when I finish - it gets even stranger. Instead of  the text with a straight band of colour - like with a real high-liner pen - odd shapes occur across the text! How to revert to a simple, colour line highlighting the text I feel is important?

No it has nothing to do with, if the PDF is protected or not. It is not in this case, it is having the PDF open in Preview and holding down the mouse button and dragging and highlighting the information in whatever direction you push your mouse in. Preview seems to only highlight what ever is showing on the screen instead of highlighting from page to page.

  • Is it possible to store text in a table(colom) without losing the layout

    hello,
I have a question and the question is:
Is it possible to store text in a table(colom) without losing the layout?
For the people who don't know what i presicly mean i will explain my question:
Think of a memo field, i write a memo with bij example word or an internal editor of oracle, and if i wan't to store it in a colom with out losing the layout wich datatype for the colom should i use(if this is posibble).
So when i whant to review the memo it has the same layout as when i wrote the memo.
I hope someone can help me,
    thanks by regards,
    Menno

Is your text field ("memo field") containing only text
(ie of type VARCHAR2 or CLOB) ?
If so, it should preserve your line returns and spaces.

  • Is it possible to add highlighted text in an iBooks interactive textbook using VoiceOver?

Is it possible to add highlighted text in an iBooks interactive textbook using VoiceOver?

The only way you can add read aloud to an ibook is by using easy epub code editor. (Go to itunes and look it up). This app works on the ipad and is the ONLY app that can generate smil/xml code for read aloud. The only thing is that you cannot use it on anything but a raw epub file. You cannot use it with ibooks author or with any other file. Hope this helps.

  • HT3529 How do I send a group text, I have set up groups in my gmail account but can't figure out how to send a group text without adding them all individually

How do I send a group text message, I have groups set up in my gmail account but can't figure out how to send a group text without adding them all individually ?

    You can use iCloud:
Step 1. Log into www.icloud.com using your Apple ID.
Step 2. Click on Contacts and then click the groups ribbon (the red icon with two people) which is on the left-hand page when viewing All Contacts.
Step 3. The left page changes to a list of Groups (only those groups stored in iCloud are shown). Click the + button at the bottom to add a new group.
Step 4. Type a name for the new group and press Enter to save it. To change it after this, double-click its entry in the groups list.
Step 5. To add contacts to the new group, click on the All Contacts group and locate the first person to be added (you can use the search bar to find them quickly).
Step 6. Drag their name on top of the new group and drop it to add it to that group.
Step 7. To add more contacts, repeat steps 5 and 6, but you can add multiple contacts at once by pressing Ctrl (on a PC) or Command (on a Mac) and clicking on each contact in the list that you wish to select. Then, drag one of the highlighted names to the new group and they will all be added.
It's possible to add names to more than one group, and you can create as many groups as you like.
Step 8. Launch the Contacts app on your device (iPhone, iPod touch or iPad) and you should see the new group appear almost immediately - as long as you have an internet connection.
Until Apple builds in a function to create groups directly within the Contacts app, this is the best way to do it.

  • Why is it not possible to highlite text inside every PDF?

    Hey guys,
Does anybody know why I cannot highlight text inside a few PDFs?
    I know already the following:
If you scan a document and save it as a PDF, it is normally an ordinary picture and therefore you cannot highlight anything. However, I can highlight text inside some scanned PDFs. I assume that somebody (who and how?) used some sort of OCR software. If that is the case, Adobe Reader recognizes the “picture” as text and you can mark easily. So far so good.
The questions are: Who has to enable OCR scanning? Does Adobe Reader itself has a feature for OCR scanning? If I got a document, which is not yet “OCR scanned”, is there a possibility for me to enable OCR and therefore highlight the text afterwards?
Thanks in advance for your help (and excuse any language mistakes)!
    Julian

Adobe Reader can't perform OCR. Adobe Acrobat has this feature.
