    Hi Dimaxum,
I don't seem to be able to see the archive selection within Safari.
I found the import/export bookmarks under ,file> withing Safari but that just opens a browser box and I have no idea where to browse to to be able to find the firefox bookmarks.
Can you give me a step by step procedure?
    Really appreciate it!

  • Trying to import bookmarks from Windows 7 to iPad Mini

How do I import Safari bookmarks from a Windows 7 laptop (running the latest Safari) to a new (bought 1/10/13) iPad Mini?
I'm logged into iCloud on the laptop; "Bookmarks with Safari" is checked on the iCloud control panel; the iPad Settings/iCloud has Safari turned on; I've read the iPad Mini User Guide, iCloud Help and anything else I could find.  (I can originate and save Bookmarks in the iPad.)
I've even tried connecting the laptop and the iPad with the Apple USB cable then clicked on File Export Bookmarks setting the destination as IPad and File type either HTML or All.  The result of those attempts was always a popup message saying "You can't save here.  Try someplace else."
    Thank you for your help.

    I don't have that activated either.. :-s

  • Is it possible to import bookmarks from your desktop to your mobile device

I would like to copy the bookmarks on my desktop to my galaxy s4

I had a similar problem and tried Sync. It didn't help much. So I experimented.
This works pc to phone, I don't know the other direction.
    1. On your desktop computer save all your bookmarks as an HTML file.
    2. Open the HTML file in any editor that supports links (even MS Word).
    3. Scroll through and delete everything you don't want.
    4. If you want to add text do so.
    5. Save the result as an HTML file.
    6. Use whatever method you have to move or copy the file to your phone.
    7. Select the file and choose to open with Firefox.
Now all your links are available, sectioned off as you desire, can be activated as links, and then saved as regular bookmarks if you wish.
A moderate pain in the butt, but that's what we get when we expect a small minimalist slab of metal to act like a BIG computer.

  • Is there any way to organize bookmarks into folders? Is there a way to import bookmarks from another (default) browser (besides the native browser or Chrome) ?

I have quite a few bookmarks in my current default browser (CM Browser) and don't relish the thought of manually recreating them all. I also want to keep them organized by categories. The folder system is very helpful.

The permission model for Android does not allow other apps access to their settings. Chrome and the Android stock browser have some special access rules that allow other apps to see the bookmarks. So it is only possible to import bookmarks from Chrome or the stock Android browser.
Bookmark management can be done in desktop Firefox via Firefox Sync. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-set-up-firefox-sync

I want to import bookmarks from Internet Explorer 8, but the import link under file in Firefox is ghosted out and doesn't allow me access. How can I access the Firefox import function?

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

    * Make sure that you not run Firefox in [[Private Browsing]] mode
    * In Private Browsing mode some menu items are disabled (grayed) and features like visited links are disabled and not showing
    * You are in Private Browsing mode if you see "Tools > Stop Private Browsing", possibly grayed
    * You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
    * To see all History settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting <b>Firefox will: Use custom settings for history</b>
    * Uncheck: [ ] "Automatically start Firefox in a private browsing session"
It usually works better if you export the Favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.
    * Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html): File > Import and Export
    * Import the HTML file in Firefox: Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML: From File

  • Run time error when trying to import bookmarks from firefox

When trying to import bookmarks from Firefox to Safari I get the following error message: "Run Time Error. This application has requested the Runtime  to terminate it in an unusual way." Safari does not function anymore and I have to close it. Can somebody help me? I am using a PC with Windows 7.

In the Bookmarks Manager (Library) there is a toolbar with the Back and Forward button and three other buttons (Organize, Views, Import & Backup).
    * The first (gear) button is the Organize button with basic edit menu items for bookmarks
    * The second button is the Views button that allows to change the sort order for viewing purposes (doesn't sort permanently).
    * The third (star) button is the Import & Backup button that allows to backup and restore a JSON backup and import and export an HTML backup and import bookmarks from other browsers.
Hover each button to see the tooltip or click each of them to see what they do.

  • I am importing bookmarks from Internet Explorer 9. If the bookmark has a subdirectory, I don't get the links in the subdirectory.

I am running Mozilla Firefox 20.0.1 under Windows 7 Ultimate.
I am trying to import bookmarks from Internet Explorer 9.0.15.
If the bookmark has a subdirectory, I don't get any of the links in the subdirectory.
This has not happened on my other computers:
Internet Explorer 8 under Windows XP Professional
Internet Explorer 9 under Windows 7 Professional

This incomplete importing sometimes happens for unknown reasons.
You can manually export your bookmarks from IE and then import them into Firefox using an HTML file as an intermediary format. This thread has the steps: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/835144 Only 1/3rd of my bookmarks imported from IE. How do I move the rest?]

  • Restoring bookmarks from Windows Easy Transfer

I need to restore my bookmarks from Windows Easy Tranfer.I saw the same question asked and answered but the answer didn't explain how to transfer the bookmarks manually. I did find a Firefox file and tried to import from the organize libraries drop down. It gave me the message "importing will replace current bookmarks are you sure...?" I told it to proceed but I don't see my bookmarks. What do I need to do to solve this?

  • Migrating bookmarks from windows to mac

Can I transfer my bookmarks from a windows platform to a mac platform and if so how do I do it?

    Hello,
There are two ways of doing this:
    1. '''Firefox Sync''' - if you want to continue using both Windows and Mac versions of Firefox then you can use Firefox Sync to keep your bookmarks and other settings synchronised between the devices. See here for set up instructions: [[How do I set up Firefox Sync?]]
    2. '''Export as html and import''' - if you want to move permanently from Windows to Mac then I think the cleanest thing would be to export the bookmarks from Windows to HTML. Follow these instructions: [[Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks]] then transfer the HTML file to your mac and import them into Firefox there. Follow these instructions for the import: [[Import Bookmarks from a HTML file]]
I hope that helps. Let me know if not.

  • Cannot import bookmarks from Safari because "import" option is NOT highlighted (not available). Why?

    MacBook Pro - FireFox 4
I was able in the past (earlier FireFox versions) to import bookmarks from Safari when clicking on the "Organize Bookmarks." This now is not available. Instead, under "file" there is an "import" option but it is NOT highlighted, i.e., it is not available for clicking. How do you import bookmarks from Safari (or any other browser) after you have used FireFox for a while. i.e., not when you first set it up, but later?

"Organize Bookmarks" has been renamed to "Show All Bookmarks" in the bookmarks menu.
The option to import can be disabled if you are in private browsing mode. To stop Firefox opening in private browsing mode do this:
    # Open the Preferences window and go to the Privacy panel
    # Change the setting "Firefox will" to "Remember history", alternatively if you set it to "Use custom settings for history", de-select the setting "Permanent Private Browsing mode"
