mp3 export is not currently an option for GBv10, though it's not difficult to still create an mp3 formatted file:
    http://www.bulletsandbones.com/GB/GBFAQ.html#gbv10mp3creation
This FAQ entry offers a Minute GarageBand video tutorial

(BTW, mp3 export didn't become a feature until version 4, so perhaps it will return in a future version)

  • Exporting individual segments in Garage Band

Hi.  I've recently started trying editing in GarageBand.  I'm recording voice-over tracks and trying to edit and export them as individual segments.  But when I attempted to export the separate segments, it always exported every piece of edited audio as one giant file.  Is there a way to export each separate piece of edited audio?  It's kind of important that I'm able to export smaller separate edits as mp3s.
    Thanks!
    Jon

Solo the track/s with the segment/s you want.
Engage the cycle region and place it over the piece you want.
    Share to iTunes/export.

  • Can I export EXS files to Garage Band?

I know GB uses .exs files and I am placing the instrument and samples next to the other GB  voices but how do I get GB to recognize the data?

    No.
The closest you’ll get is a PDF and Illustrator is not a general purpose PDF editor.
    Good luck.

  • Help please: I edited an 8 min song in Garage Band to 2 min but iMovie sees it still as 8 min????

I have a new MacBook Pro with Garage Band '11 and iMovie '11 that came with it.
I edited an 8 minute song into 2 minutes to use in iMovie BUT iMovie isn't reading the newer version of the song; it reads the original.  I tried renaming the file, remixing the song, and still iMovie plays it as the original 8 minute song.  In fact, four renamed versions of the song show up in iMovie under Garage Band and yet they are all the same.
Oh, I also made sure the little purple line was right at the end of my 2 minute sound track and not left where the original song was before I started cutting it.  Still, the same problem.
What am I doing wrong?  Any insights would be most helpful!  It's been about two years since I've used Garage Band - and even then I only used it about ten times -  so treat me like the rookie that I am, ok?
Thanking the Apple Support world-at-large in advance,
    GG

Anyway, Leonie, you did give me one little jeweled piece of information that confirmed what I vaguely remembered from the last time I was putting together videos - once the file is in iMovie, any changes I make outside of iMovie need to be imported back in once again.  That's why I instinctively kept renaming the files.  Thank you for that.... each little piece of info helps, no?
That is on of the irritating aspects of iLife application integration - one would expect, that changes do sync, but they don't.
I'm using version 10.01 andyou two are using the previous generation.
Actually, I am using both versions. I assumed from your first post, that you would be using iMovie '11, version 9.0.9 and not the current version 10.0 - you wrote:
Garage Band '11 and iMovie '11
The version numbering is not the best effort on Apple's part.
But you are right - version 10.0 is not yet as robust as iMovie '11 has been. For serious work I am still mainly using  iMovie '11; I am more or less only paying around with the new version 10.0 to explore it. Final Cut has not yet given me any trouble, but I only use it for effects that are not available in iMovie '11.

  • Can i sell songs made on garage band?

can i sell songs that i have made on garage band?

    leonieDF wrote:
Yes, you can, but read the licence that came with your GB installation. You are restricted when using the loops:
You can't sell the loops, and you can't sell audio containing the loops.
    To clarify, this is false.
No need to read the licence or stress out in any way.
    Use, enjoy, sell.
The one exception is that you're not allowed to set up a pirating shop for the loops themselves, to duplicate and sell JamPacks as raw materials for other people's songs. She's correct in that "You can't sell the loops."
But as soon as you do anything with the loops themselves - put them in a song, a commercial, a salad, there are no restrictions whatsoever. In other words if you are a musician, filmmaker, or anything other than an illicit software pirating shop, you have nothing to worry about.

  • Importing Garage Band Dialogue into iMovie 09?

I would like to import voiceover dialogue created in Garage Band into an iMovie project, but haven't been about to figure this out and also haven't been able to find any tutorials or other information that addresses this particular subject. I saw one comment about saving the Garage Band dialogue as a different kind of file, but I can't figure out how to do that. Can anyone offer some easy to follow instructions about how to do this?

I would suggest that in GarageBand you use SHARE/TO iTunes or SHARE/To disk.
You can either use no compression or use Compression and choose AAC encoder.
Start iMovie. The track should be available from within iTunes through the Media Browser in iMovie.
If you shared to disk, you will have to locate it in the FInder and drag it into your iMovie Project from there. I do not recommend this, because if you ever move your file to another location, your project will not be able to find it.
That assumes you want to continue editing in iMovie.
Alternatively, you could finish your iMovie, then SHARE/TO MEDIA BROWSER. Then in Garageband, bring the video file into your project from the Media Browser in Garageband, and continue audio processing in GB. Then you Share the finished product through GarageBand.

  • Is it possible to import songs from your ipod to itunes?

Somehow, my itunes got screwed up on my pc. So, I am missing about 100 songs. The songs are all on my ipod because I haven't synced them in a while. Is it possible to import the songs from my ipod into itunes? If so, how do I do it?
To make matters more complicated, my itunes now says that the ipod is synced to a different itunes, so if I sync them up, the songs on the ipod will be replaced by the songs on itunes (causing me to lose those 100 songs). Can anyone please help me?

If you're using iTunes 7, you can copy music that you purchased from the iTunes Store back to iTunes directly. You will have to prevent automatic synchronization. While connecting the iPod to the computer, hold down the Shift and Ctrl keys in Windows. This should stop the iPod from auto synching with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 3 and 25 seconds depending on your computer.
If you're not using iTunes 7 or want to copy other tracks, the easiest way will be to search VersionTracker for "iPod". You'll find a number of utilities that can transfer your tracks and your playlists from your iPod back to your PC.
It's also possible to do this manually, but the procedure is rather involved. If you're interested, though, see this thread:
    MacMuse: Computer crashed
Forum Tip: Since you're new here, you've probably not discovered the Search feature available on every Discussions page, but next time, it might save you time (and everyone else from having to answer the same question multiple times) if you search a couple of ways for a topic, both in the relevant forums, in the User Tips Library and in the Apple Knowledge Base before you post a question.

  • I have a sony hdr td 20ve 3d video camera. Is it possible to import into iMovie 11, edit and export in 3D? I have an iMac 2008 model running Lion 10.7.4

Is it possible to import 3d from the Sony 3D videocamera, model HDR TD 20VE into iMovie 11, edit and export the files to iDVD and produce a disc that plays on a 3d compatible DVD player?

Yes, you can purchase Lion as well as iPhoto and iMovie from the App Store. But before you can do that you must update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 by installing the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 update. Then you can sign into the App Store with your Apple ID and password, locate the items you want, purchase them, and download them to your computer.

  • Is it possible to import an Oracle 10 (export .dmp file) into Oracle 9 db ?

    hi Oracle Guru's
Is it possible to import a oracle 10 (export .dmp file) into an oracle 9 database ?
I tried & got the following error ...
IMP-00010 not a valid export file, header failed verificationperhaps their is a work-around ?
    thanks

    Hi
You can take export from a previous version and import to a later version. Having said that, there is still a workaround to do what you want.
On 9i server add a connect string for your 10g instance. Then use 9i export utility to export 10g data. That way your export will be compatible with 9i. You can then import the data in your 9i instance.
To create connect string you can either use Net Configuration Assistant or manually edit TNSNAMES.ORA file in your 9i server.
    Hope it helps.

  • Is it possible to import and export Config Toll Configuration  from one sys

    Hi All,
Is it possible to import and export Config Toll Configuration  from one system to Another system (QUS/PRD), for especific service.
Kindly let me know the pro and corn of it and step by step process
    Thanks alot for your time.
    Thanks
    AB

Yes...It is certainly possible but then you would need to bring OS level j2ee filestructure as well and there are lots of changes at OS level in *.properties file and then at configtool level changes related to hostname, system numbers and port numbers etc.
This is not much difficult but not impossible also if you do it very carefully. Please note that SAP DOES NOT SUPPORT THIS METHOD.
alternatively, you can use sapinst to export-import j2ee filesystem from source to target which inturn would require to do configtool export/import and then changes at configtool level.
Do let us know your requirement so that we cud help you in case you are facing any issues.
    cheers !!!

in garage band, i want to import a 20 minute wav file and cut it into individual songs, and export them to itunes or dropbox or ...
i've imorted the file to audio for imovie, but can't see how to chop it up, save the pieces as individual units, and export them.

Create a new GarageBand project using the "Voice" template.
Drag you wav file into the Track area of the GarageBand window to create an audio track for it.
Use the playback button to find the gaps between the songs.
Mark each song in turn with the cycle region. Press the button with the two blue chasing arrows to enable the cycle region. This will create a yellow bar at the top of the track area. Drag the ends of this bar to mark one of your songs.
Now use the "Share" menu to send your song to iTunes.
When done, adjust the cycle region to mark the second song.

  • Is it possible to edit the voice of a song created in Garage band?

    Hello to all!
Using music tracks, I am singing songs in different languages using Garage band. After I import these songs into my FCPX projects, is it possible for me to break up the individual tracks [the music track apart and the voice track apart] so that I may apply effects to the voice track alone?
    Thanks in advance.

I am not an expert in GarageBand, but if you are exporting a single AIFF file from GB there is no easy way to separate those tracks.
Better to export them separately to begin with. I can't see an automatic way to do it, but it is not difficult to do it manually:
Suppose you are creating a song called "MySong" and you have a music track a vocal track (or several music tracks and a vocal track, the idea is the same).
    1) Disable the vocal track by clicking on the little button shaped like a speaker. Export your song using Share->Export Song to Disk... and call it, say, "MySong-Music" (don't use compression, so that GB creates an AIFF file rather than AAC or MP3 - you may have heard numerous admonishments against using compressed audio in FCP X)
    2) Enable the vocal track and disable the other(s) and similarly create "MySong-vocals".
    3) Import both audio files into FCP X and (optionally, but probably a good idea to keep things organized) make them into a compound clip. Note that you'll need to open the compound clip's timeline and manually move one of the tracks below the other, as the compound clip will have them in sequence; but they are the same lenght, so there is no synchronization difficulty.
    4) Make as many edits as you like
