Is it possible to insert a time clock in iMovie project?

I'm making for myself an iMovie project of doing pushups (the goal, of course, is to gradually do more pushups).
Is there any kind of "effect" that I could insert into the iMovie project, which displays the time?  (like a little stopwatch?)
Or, does iMovie have a "built-in" function which will display the time of the clip (in a stopwatch-type fashion)?
Thanks!

Hi
The easiest way I can think of is to record a close-up of a clock and then use this movie clip as Picture in Picture and this function is in iMovie'09 and 11. iMovie'08 - don't think so - at least I've not found it. iMovie up to HD6 - there are such function and many more can be added as plug-ins ( iMovie'08 and futhur has put an end to Plug-ins )

  • Is is possible to insert more time to a composition in the beginning?

    Of course I know how to add time to the comp then move everything over that amount of time. That makes sense. But I was wondering if it's possible to insert a said amount of time at the first frame pushing existing frames to the end of the inserted time. Could be a timesaver for me.

    Simply adjust the comp duration, then use scripts like rd Shifter to offset all your layers by a given amount. I'm sure if one searched through AEnhancers.com and sites linked from there one could also find a smartified version that combines al lthe steps.

  • Is it possible to add a running time clock to a project?

    I have a clinet who want the time that the project was shot to be displayed at all times. And there doesn't seem to be a plug-in that does this. Is there a way for me to do this that I am not aware of?
    Thanks

    Could I start the timecode at something that looks like this: 3:00  And it would function like a regular time clock?

  • Add a timer to my iMovie project

    Hi,
    I was lucky enough to get behind the wheel of a race care recently. I have "in-car" video footage of my experience, which i'm currently editing.
    I'd like to add a lap timer to my movie project so viewers can see lap times and splits.
    Does anyone have any advice on how i might be able to do this using iMovie 11?
    Oh and i'm a hack, so nothing too complicated :-)
    Appreciate any advice you're able to offer.
    Cheers,
    Pete...

    Hi
    there are no easy to add function to this - I would either
    • Use my Camera and record a Clock - then add this video as Picture in Picture. Use a Large Clock and make the insert Picture might work and look nice.
    • or Harder + Costs - I would re-import material - BUT this time via Analog-out on Camera - And Camera set to Show recording Time/Date - then use an A/D-box to digitalize this into Video-Editor e.g. iMovie.
    This will lose in quality - but if done in FinalCut the Clock time could be put ontop of the original digital import.
    Still there are no easy solution as I know of.

  • What is the best technique for "ripping" a commercial DVD and inserting this clip in my IMovie project (macbook Pro)?

    How can i "rip" a part of a DVD that i bought from a vendor, when I went scuba diving recently?  My goal is to insert the  scuba  clip into my Imovie project, which I am developing in my Macbook Pro.     (This Mac is about 3 yearsold now)
    I ,of course, will give credit to the company that produced the scuba DVD.
    I read the posts, and Appleman1958, vernon Alexander,and Samhaque have had experience with this issue.
    Which solution  do you recommend for me?  My ultimate goal is to create a DVD that includes snippets of a family trip.
    thank you for your input here.
    Moshe Pipick

    Let's assume that such a 'holiday video' does not have copy protection:
    You need to convert the VOB files in the TS-Folder of the DVD back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:
    http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
    which is free, but you must also have the  Apple mpeg2 plugin :
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/D2187Z/A/quicktime-mpeg-2-playback-component-f or-mac-os-x
    (unless you are running Lion in which case see below))
    which is a mere $20.
    Another possibility is to use DVDxDV:
    http://www.dvdxdv.com/NewFolderLookSite/Products/DVDxDV.overview.htm
    which costs $25.
    For the benefit of others who may read this thread:
    Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal.
    And from the TOU of these forums:
    Keep within the Law
    No material may be submitted that is intended to promote or commit an illegal act.
    Do not submit software or descriptions of processes that break or otherwise ‘work around’ digital rights management software or hardware. This includes conversations about ‘ripping’ DVDs or working around FairPlay software used on the iTunes Store.
    If you are running Lion:
    From the MPEG Streamclip homepage
    The installer of the MPEG-2 Playback Component may refuse to install the component in Lion. Apple states the component is unnecessary in Lion, however MPEG Streamclip still needs it. See this:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3381
    To install the component in Lion, please download MPEG Streamclip 1.9.3b7 beta above; inside the disk image you will find the Utility MPEG2 Component Lion: use it to install the MPEG-2 Playback Component in Lion. The original installer's disk image (QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg) is required.
    The current versions of MPEG Streamclip cannot take advantage of the built-in MPEG-2 functionality of Lion. For MPEG-2 files you still need to install the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component, which is not preinstalled in Lion. You don't have to install QuickTime 7.

  • Is it possible to insert a video inset in iMovies?

    i.e, having two videos on the same screen, one big, one small? I would like to have the smal video on the lower right corner of the big video in order to show some details...?

    Yes. Use the Picture in Picture feature.
    First, go ti iMovie Preferences and make sure that the Advanced Tools are enabled. Then, drag the big clip into your project. Next, drag the little clip into your project and drop it on the big clip. When a popup menu appears, choose Picture in Picture.

  • How can I see the elapsed time in an imovie project

    I am submitting a video for my national board teaching portfolio, and I need to reference certain things in the video at a certain time. How do I identify the time of a particular frame?

    I agree with Bengt W. There are many reasons, even in a simple movie, to want to know the timing of things. This is a surprisingly frustrating product. For want of timing information, you are requiring your users to pay $300?
    In my situation, I took some video of a show (with the performers permission) with an iPad and an iPod.  All I want to do is make a movie with one video as the main position with a series of cutaway clips from the other. It is incredibly frustrating to do this without knowing where you are within each clip.
    When helpful and capable forum participants like we have here have to spend time explaining how best to make do with a product, it's a clear indication of a fault with the product. Now, I either have to spend extra time in iMovie making due with this crippled interface, or I have to spend time looking for an alternative product.
    Consider this a feature request!

  • PLEASE HELP!! USE TIME MACHINE & RESTORED IMOVIE PROJECT CANNOT BE OPENED

    Please HELP!!!!  Imovie yesterday didnt save any of my project changes so I redid them today. And after I just closed Imovie again it did not save my changes from today. Thats 2 days of editing with no record of the changes
    I use Time machine but I have never needed to restore anything. I have gone into time machine, found the file, hit restore and  saved it on my desktop but I am not finding the file in imovie.
    When I click on the file and select open in imovie it is not opening or if it is, it is not the file with the changes when it diverts me to imovie. So basically I can see the file in Time machine, I am restoring it to my computer but I cannot locate it in imovie with the changes. I can see the file on my desktop but i cant open it to view other than in imovie which ofcourse isnt showing the changes.
    PLEASE HELP!!! IM DEVASTATED!!!!
    I am working from an external hard drive. Yesterday I had the prompt appear that I had no more disk space (on my computer) so today i deleted a bunch of things and didnt get that prompt. And in anycase i am working off an external.
    Please help me!!! I need a saviour!!!

    Have you tried deleting iMovie's preference file?
    Close iMovie and go to your Home folder(YourUserName)/Library/Preferences/com.apple.imovie.plist
    Drag this plist file to the Trash. Don't worrry; iMovie will create a new fresh one when you relaunch it.
    Reopen iMovie and see if it works ok now.
    By the way, if you have more than one iMovie version on your computer, be sure to trash the correct plist.
    iMovie 6 is 'com.apple.imovie.plist' but iMovie 8 is 'com.apple.imovie7.plist' and I expect that iM9 would be 'imovie8.plist' If you find only the one plist and you have only one version of iM, just trash that one.
    Post back if this does not help.

  • Is it Possible to Insert Quiz Slides at Set Times During a Video?

    Hi all,
    I'm fairly new to Captivate, so I apologise in advance if this question has already been answered and I couldn't find it.
    I work in higher education and we create a lot of screencasts with academics speaking over Powerpoint presentations. During a presentation there is often several points where the academic would like to ask the user a question. What I want to know is if there's a way of adding question slides during a video?
    Many thanks,
    Ross

    You will have to split up that video to be able to insert slides in between.

  • Possible to insert a countdown timer into an iMovie clip?

    I'm making an exercise video, and I want to insert an occasional small clip with a countdown timer.  Ideally, it would be some beautiful nature footage (like waterfalls or wildlife), with a countdown timer in the corner.
    Does anydbody know how to insert a countdown timer into an iMovie clip?
    For that matter, does anybody know where I could find/purchase 2 minutes of nature footage?

    Sure you can. What you need to do is add the initial image to the topic then create an image map. This allows you to define shapes that when the user's mouse hovers over it indicates that there is a hyperlinkto another topic. Just right click on the image, select Insert Image Map and go from there.

  • Is it possible to insert a PDF directly(ie from Share Point) to email (Outlook) without saving it?

    Is it possible to insert a PDF directly(ie from Share Point) to email (Outlook) without saving it?
    I open several docs on Sharepoint that I need to send out immediately and waste a lot of time saving it to my computer and than opening an email and attaching it and than deleting the file bc I don't need it - its already on Sharepoint where I can access it.

    I have the exact same problem.  I used to could do it without saving until I upgraded to a new version.  I cannot figure out how to send it without saving.

  • Best solution for EXEC SQLu2026. INSERT? Time problem

    Hi:
    I have a problem with native sql in abap. I have next code and itu2019s working properly (see below) , but the problem occurs when abap internal table is too big, because exec sql u2026 endexec is executed one time for each internal table line, so it needs too much time.
    Do you know any solution? Is it possible to insert the internal table with only one exec sql?
    Thanku2019s in advance for your time.
        LOOP AT i_table.
          EXEC SQL.
            insert into oracle_table@db
            (value1,
             Value2
            values
            (:i_table-val1,
             :i_table-val2
          ENDEXEC.
        ENDLOOP.

    Definately this approach will take a lot of time.
    i would suggest that you create a table, fill that table with the internal table you are using for the insertion and use below mentioned code this will improve your processing time.
    Exec SQL.
    INSERT INTO
    EXEC SQL.
    insert into oracle_table@db
    (value1,
    Value2
    SELECT  COLUMN1, COLUMN2 FROM DUAL
    FROM ZTABLE
    ENDEXEC.

  • Software protection with real time clock

    I'm trying get a secure real time clock information for licensing purposes ,I tried hardware dongle like hasp4 with RTC but I was not able not interface the dll and kept coming up with errors.Can anyone suggest a better of getting real time clock information or any available product which I can use.
    I even thought of using the system clock but it's doddle to reset the system time.
    Help is much appreciated.Thanks in advance

    One possibility might be to force the computer to access an external time server of your choice and check the time from there.
    This example shows how to read the time from a NTP server using LabVIEW.

  • Datediff for Time Clock

    Hello.  I am having a problem putting my mind around how this works.  I am working on creating a time clock. When a person clocks in each day an entry is inserted into the database.  As they continue to clock in or out that day entry in the database is updated to log the time/date stamp up to 6 entries.
    EmployeeID
    TimeClockID
    TimeEntryReg1
    TimeEntryVac
    TimeEntrySick
    TimeEntryHol
    TimeEntryOther
    TimeEntryOtherReason
    SPROverride
    SPROverrideDate
    TimeEntryReg2
    TimeEntryReg3
    TimeEntryReg4
    TimeEntryReg5
    TimeEntryReg6
    10
    1
    11/12/2009 5:51:31 PM
    NULL
    NULL
    NULL
    NULL
    NULL
    NULL
    NULL
    NULL
    When I call the query I can get the cfoutput to loop through each record and display each of the log in/out's.  What my problem is is that I am not able to do a datediff to figure out how many hours/mins that employee has worked between the clock in and out. I get an error every time that says my date is invalid. I am guessing that it is because the variable is unable to determine which record is which since there are multiple records.  Could someone PLEASE help me get my head around how to display the time worked correctly?  Thanks.
    <table width="800">
    <cfoutput query="selectPerEmployeeTimeClockEntry">
      <tr>
       <td width="50" nowrap>
        #DateFormat(TimeEntryReg1, "dddd mm/dd")#
       </td>
       <!--- <td width="50" nowrap>
        #TimeFormat(TimeEntryReg1, "hh:mm:sstt")#
       </td>
       <td width="50" nowrap>
        #TimeFormat(TimeEntryReg2, "hh:mm:ss tt")#
       </td>
       <td width="50" nowrap>
        #TimeFormat(TimeEntryReg3, "hh:mm:ss tt")#
       </td>
       <td width="50" nowrap>
        #TimeFormat(TimeEntryReg4, "hh:mm:ss tt")#
       </td>
       <td width="50" nowrap>
        #TimeFormat(TimeEntryReg5, "hh:mm:ss tt")#
       </td>
       <td width="50" nowrap>
        #TimeFormat(TimeEntryReg6, "hh:mm:ss tt")#
       </td>

    Hello.
    Thanks for your responses. I made the database modifications so that the clock in entries are seperate from the clock out entries as see below:
    Employee ID
    TimeClockID
    TimeEntryReg1IN
    TimeEntryReg2
    10
    1
    11/12/2009 17:51
    11/12/2009 19:51
    10
    2
    11/12/2009 20:17
    11/12/2009 22:17
    However, I am still not able to get the data from the database to display in columns nor can I get the times to calculate in the number of hours/minutes there are between clocking in and out.
    I appreciate any help you can provide.  Thanks.
