Is it possible to install 2 OID on single solaris machine

Hi,
Could you please let me know if it is possible to install 2 OID on 1 solaris machine.
The scenario is:
I have Sun Solaris SPARC(64 bit) machine. We have 2 users created(oracle and oracle 1).
I m able to install 1 OID with oracle as a user and which uses the default ports.
There is a problem when we try to install 2nd OID with oracle1 as a user.

You could install both as oracle user. Create different set of environment variables. Install them to two different locations, and change the default ports used. Then just make sure you are using the correct $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin directory to start the instances.

we want to save the money for a new machine, so I'm currently looking to get a second groupware connector installation done on the same machine. Anyone having experience with that? Is it even possible?
The setup.exe does not really offer to do a second groupware connector installation for exchange. Even if that would be possible I fear the created services for our machine (SAP MS Exchange Groupware Connector 2.1) will be overwritten by the second installation?

I know from how the Lotus Notes version of the connector works, it just wouldn't work because of how it uses the Lotus Notes libraries. For exchange I'm not sure if there is as tight of integration. The connector is relatively light weight, so have you considered piggy backing it on another box such as a SAP webdispatcher or something else. You could also look at using a VM as the requirements for the connector aren't that much for a test system.

You should create a new database with UTF8 character set, otherwise, you won't be able to start directory service (invalid charset will be reported)

I'm afraid that this is not possible, The system's Mainboard is much of a Laptop design where Upgrade is very limited.

Possible to install 10gAS on single server?

Hi, I'm not entirely new to AS. I have worked with 9iAS for a couple years. In the environment I was in, we setup an infrastructure server and a mid-tier server. I'm interested in tinkering with 10gAS, but don't have two servers to play with. Is it possible to install 10gAS on a single server? I found an installation guide on a "basic install" but wasn't sure if that was it or not. Also, I could not tell that it would have all of the features, such as portal.

I use vncserver running on the linux/unix servers and a vncclient on my workstation to do remote installs. It deals with network bumps much better than X.
I've never used the dvd drive on my workstation to do anything other than create the staging area on the remote machine. I use cygwin scp to copy the DVD's from XP to the staging area on the linux/unix servers.

A Cloud subscription provides for installing working installations on two machines. You can have mixed operating systems (both Windows and Apple's OX).

hello Dahveed, thanks for your reply, i solved it with the help of the migration assistant from another mac - now it works (but before as more info: for my new imac it was not possible to install apple remote desktop from appstore (the install-button not available, the same as installed already...) - and i don't know why...? - is it possible that the reason is the number of owned macs?)

I am running OS X 10.9.3 with Server 3.1.2 on a Mac-Mini Mid-2012. I learned on my last implementation of OS X 10.9.3 that Mavericks sometimes has issues with handling group mail. As I rebuild my network, I am wondering if it is possible to install a SMTP proxy that can receive, process, then forward mail on to the primary mail server.
For example, if mail is sent to a group account, this SMTP proxy would repackage the message as a message to a carbon copy list of all the group members, but if the mail is sent to a user account, the mail is forwarded unmodified. Like this:
As an alternative to this, I would also be interested a solution in which the Linux Mail Server referenced the Open Directory for account information, including password authentication, so that if a user in the Mac Network updates his password, that he can use the same password to access his mail on a webmail client or via the Mail.app.
This is a callout for discussion points, ideas and recommendations. There is no problem here to fix necessarily.

I am not aware of a tool to do the group splitting for you, this is normally the responsibility of the mail server itself.
However with regards to your second query, a lot of people use a product called Kerio Connect instead of Apple's Mail server. Kerio can run on the same Mac server but in general is a far more powerful mail server. It does include the ability to authenticate user accounts against Open Directory.
There is one issue you need to be aware of, like nearly all mail servers it uses the 'username' as the main email address, so if you want an email account of [email protected] then your Open Directory short name need to be jsmith, if you want your email address to be [email protected] then your user short name needs to be john.doe and so on.
Note: While I have specifically talked about Kerio most other mail server including those for Linux would be able to link to Open Directory via LDAP and authenticate email accounts. The same link between email address and short name would usually apply.
