Is it possible to install Mac OS X Snow leopard on a PC ?

I was wondering if it is possible to run a mac os X on a PC I mean on a dell , hp and etc, ?

Heh. I just heard some wag with tongue firmly in cheek suggest that Windows 7 is called that because it took 7 years to get it right, counting from when Vista development started & Win 7's leverage of the Vista driver model. I've heard similar comments that Vista was the 'final release beta version' of Win 7 & that it actually escaped rather than being released.
Seriously though, OS X seems to me to be the more rapidly maturing OS, regularly & quickly incorporating new, advanced technologies into its framework with few of the roll-out glitches that seem to plague the rest of the industry. Arguably, it also enables industry-changing devices like the iPhone & quite possibly the iPad to be developed using a proven, 'road tested' OS that relatively few fear will have significant 'version 1' problems.
By these criteria, Microsoft is far behind. It seems to take it two major iterations to get anything major right, & by then Apple is already rolling out its 'next big thing.' MS has developed some really innovative concepts like Surface but it took 9 years to get it to where it is now & it still hasn't created the kind of "got to have it" or "this changes everything" reaction that Apple's products often do. Windows Phone 7 is a complete rewrite of its earlier (& much despised) mobile OS & is apparently going to be an also-ran because it doesn't leverage much in any existing MS OS.
Given the relative market share of the two companies & their capitalizations, it seems almost impossible that it isn't the other way around. The only thing that I can think of to explain it is the fundamental soundness of OS X.

Where did you obtain the Snow Leopard DVD? If it is aDVD from another computer, it will not work. You will need the retail version of the DVD as shown below.

How can I install Mac OS X Snow Leopard on Mac OS X Tiger?

Hello. Can someone tell me how I can install Mac OS X Snow Leopard on Mac OS X Tiger? I have the disk, but when I open the installer, I get a message saying that Snow Leopard could not be installed on my computer and it could only be installed on a Intel-Based Mac. This is a PowerPC Mac, so that makes sense.
So, I'm trying to ask how to make my Mac an Intel-Based Mac so I could install Snow Leopard. Or if I can't do that, I need to know how to install Snow Leopard some other way. Please help.

Just an FYI, the Mac App Store was introduced with Mac OS X 10.6.6. However the rest of what you say is accurate.
10.6.8 is required if you want to upgrade certain Macs beyond 10.7.5 without having to reformat the drive you are installing the operating system on and without having to install some version of 10.7 first.
One can actually install 10.7 or later if you maintain an original copy of the full installer of the operating system in question for your personal use without having to have the prerequisite operating system installed, if the hardware supported it. But that's a discussion for another forum.

Once you’ve installed it, you might need to check Safari’s Preferences, in the Security tab, to make sure that the “Allow Plug-ins” checkbox is checked.

I'm not familiar with the 2008 Macbook, but will it boot from and external drive? If so, non-Apple CD/DVD drives are not expensive and can be very useful. A bootable USB flash drive might also work for you. Again, I'm not familiar with the 2008 Macbook.

I have mac OS x mountain lion and I'm trying to downgrade to snow leopard by making a partition and trying to boot the install dvd that I just got but when I try to boot the install dvd by holding down (c) or doing it in the system preferences > start up disk the apple logo just appears can someone help

There is no Early 2011 iMac. There are Mids and Late. That's it. Mids came with 10.6.6 or 10.6.7. The Late requires 10.7. It's a convoluted process for the Mids, but you can install Snow Leopard on them.
How To Run Snow Leopard On A New Mac
This does not apply to new Mac Minis or MacBook Airs. When newer models are introduced that also require Lion for hardware support, the techniques described below will no longer work with the possible exception of using Parallels 7.
What has to be done:
1. Create a new partition on the hard drive.
2. Get a clone of a 10.6.8 Snow Leopard system. Put the cloned Snow Leopard
        system onto the new partition.
Step One: Create a new partition on the hard drive
To resize the drive and create a new partition do the following:
1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
               COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart
               the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until
               the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the
               downward pointing arrow button.
          After the main menu appears select Disk Utility and click on the Continue button. Select the hard drive's main entry then click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
2. You should see the graphical sizing window showing the existing partitions. A portion may appear as a blue rectangle representing the used space on a partition.
3.           In the lower right corner of the sizing rectangle for each partition is a resizing gadget. Select it with the mouse and move the bottom of the rectangle upwards until you have reduced the existing partition enough to create the desired new volume's size. The space below the resized partition will appear gray. Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed. (Note: You can only make a partition smaller in order to create new free space.)
4.           Click on the [+] button below the sizing window to add a new partition in the gray space you freed up. Give the new volume a name, if you wish, then click on the Apply button. Wait until the process has completed.
You should now have a new volume on the drive.
It would be wise to have a backup of your current system as resizing is not necessarily free of risk for data loss. Your drive must have sufficient contiguous free space for this process to work.
Step Two: Obtain a clone of a Snow Leopard system:
You will need access to a Mac already running Snow Leopard. You will need a 16 GB USB flash drive or an external hard drive to which you can clone the Snow Leopard system from the Mac that has Snow Leopard installed. Alternatives are:
Option One:
Install a new Snow Leopard system onto a USB flash drive. Boot the Mac used for installing with the USB flash drive. Update the flash drive system to 10.6.8 using the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard. Verify that you can boot the Mac with the USB flash drive.
Take the USB flash drive to your new Mac and try booting from it. If it works then clone the system from the flash drive to the newly made partition:
          Clone using Restore Option of Disk Utility
1. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
4. Check the box labeled Erase destination.
5. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination
      entry field.
6. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the new partition on the internal drive. Source means the USB
flash drive.
Option Two:
If you have a large enough external drive you can erase and use, then it would be easier to just clone the entire Snow Leopard system from the source Mac computer to the external drive.
          Clone using Restore Option of Disk Utility
1. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
4. Check the box labeled Erase destination.
5. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination

7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external drive. Source means the Snow Leopard Mac's
internal drive.
After cloning verify that it will boot the source Mac. If so then take the external drive to your new Mac boot with it. If all is well then restore the clone to the new partition on your new Mac:

you can reset your password. restart, and hold down Command-s before the apple logo appears (when the screen is white). you will see scrolling scripts until you see something like "root:" then type /sbin/mount -uw / to mount the disk. after that, type sudo passwd admin or whatever your admin password is. type in the new password two times. it doesn't show what you typed when you type the password so make sure you are pressing the right keys. after you done that, type exit to start up the computer. now you will be able to login with the new password.

My Mac is very slow, after installing mac OS x snow leopard

I am quite sad to note that the new Mac OS X Snow leopard software is a big let down. After installing i found my mac has become very slow, its taking a long time to process applications and stuff. It does not shut down completely, i get an error message most of the time saying i should press the power button for 5 seconds in order to shut down or off the computer completely.
Please advise should i just go back to the old version or is there a fix to this

You cannot. Either you erase the drive on which you installed Lion then reinstall Snow Leopard or you create another partition on the drive and install Snow Leopard on that partition so you can dual boot.
Downgrade Lion to Snow Leopard
1. Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.1.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups, do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions. If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion files.

Computer Crash Then error when installing Mac OS X Snow Leopard

My computer was running fine for about one week on OS Yosemite. But just yesterday when i rebooted my computer it would not boot into the OS at all. It would just turn on then go to the gray start up screen the the whole computer would turn off. I tired restoring from a time machine backup three times with no luck then i decided just to buy a new hard drive and start fresh. So I installed the old Mac OS X Snow Leopard and now when i reboot i get this error in the picture. can someone please help me out. This is a late 2009 Mac Pro and i was hopping to keep this computer for at least two more years before retirement.

I got it going. It seems that the boot disk needs to be in the first drive bay or it does not work. I think! But when i moved it it started working perfectly.
