Is it possible to install ODSI 10.3g as a web application via a WAR or EAR?

I only know how to install it from the single .exe that installs WebLogic and ODSI in one shot. My customer has an automated process for rolling out WebLogic servers and would like to know if ODSI can be installed from an EAR or WAR. Does anyone here know if that's possible? Have any hints on where to start looking for something like this?

It is difficult to respond to questions that ask how to implement a specific (impossible) solution, rather than ask how to fulfill a particular requirement (scripted install). Please visit the "How to Ask a Question" announcement in this forum if you want more on that.
ODSI does not specify how it is implemented (war, ear, extension to WLS), and therefore there is no documentation on the subject.
For installation options, please refer to the installer documentation. I suspect there is no documentation describing how to install ODSI without using the installer.
Is there some reason they are not using the silent installer and then a template? ( "Because they have built their own Opsware installer" is not an acceptable answer)
How does the Opsware installer work? If it leverages the WLS silent installer, then it seems obvious that changing it to leverage the WLS+ODSI silent installer would work. If it uses a zipped-up WLS installation (or template), then it seems obvious that changing it to leverage a zipped-up WLS+ODSI installation would work. There really aren't any other possibilities, are there?
It seems unlikely that Opsware scripts that install WLS would somehow start installing WLS+ODSI without being modified. I don't know why there is any expectation that they would. I don't know why there is resistance to modifying the scripts. These are really customer questions - not ODSI questions.
There is nothing stopping you or your customer from installing WLS, then installing WLS+ODSI beside it, then doing a 'diff', and then scripting the changes. Except maybe that the WLS+ODSI installer already does this, and then you wasted your time building something that already exists.

    Using Sharepoint 2010 Server and the UI I built and application and would like
to continue building the web application using the UI.
    The application's first page was built using a Blank Site template and
the subsequent subsites were built using the Team Site template.
    In retrospect the first page should also have been built using a Team Site template.
    It may be unnecessary to make to delete the application
and create the first page as a Team Site and then have to create all of the
subsites (Team Sites) all over again.
    As a solution to prevent deleting the whole application and creating application
with all of the subsites all over again whether it is possible to do any of the
following:
    - Convert the Blank Site page into a Team Site page which would allow
me to leave all of the subsites as is.
    - rename the Blank site page which would in effect would be renaming the application
then create a new Team Site page which would be essentially creating a new application and
then adding all of the subsites contained in the renamed application that has the first page
as a Blank page.
    And if is possible to add, copy or move the subsites from existing sites to a new Team Site
page, how do you add, copy or move the subsites from one application to a diffent application?

According to your description, my understanding is that you want to change the template of the root site without creating the susites in another web application.
I recommend to export all the existing subsites and import them to new web application.

Installing BI 4.1 with Netweaver Web Application Servers : Windows/HP-UX

Hello,
We are about to install SAP BI 4.1 SP3, with Netweaver as Web Application Servers.
And yes, according to the Product Availability Matrix HP-UX is definitely not a supported platform .
The problem is that our company like many others have invested huge amount of money in their HP-UX infrastructure,
and intend to reuse it, as long as it is supported by SAP.
OK it is very confusing, let me clarify
After discussing with other SAP customers facing the same dilemma :
We intend to :
* Install the Oracle Database (hosting CMS and Audit schema) on HP-UX ( The PAM only says that the Database Connector is not Supported on HP-UX)
* Install BI.4 Server Components Application/Intelligence layer on Windows as clearly indicated in the PAM
* Install Netweaver Application Servers on ...HP-UX if supported by SAP ? I have some problems reading the PAM regarding this last point
The PAM seems to indiccate that HP-UX is not supported as a platform for NEtweaver,
but then on the next page it says :
(*3) SAP NetWeaver is supported with SAP JVM on all supported operating systems
What does that mean ???
SAP Netweaver/SAP JVM is supported on HP-UX
Does that mean that we could install NEtweaver JAva Stacks on HP-UX ?

Possible for JRockit Mission Control to Monitor Multiple Web Applications

I have some questions regarding JRockit and Weblogic Server.
The JRockit Mission Control allows users to monitor JRockit JVMs.
If a JVM runs a Weblogic server instance which runs a couple of web aplications, is it possible to monitor individual web applications separately?
If it's possible, is there any kind soul who can guide me through the process in setting up.

You can use *"wlnav.war"* which is freely available on net. to monitor Servers along with some of the Application attributes like application state/ Session count/ ...etc
"wlnav.war" actually uses WebLogic MBeans to get the details of the Server and Applications...Same thing we can do using our own MBean JMX Codes as well... But still these JMX codes will not be able to tell exactly that which object belongs to which Application.

Password parameter not working while Installing the certificate hosted on a Web Application Server

We are trying to secure our SAP BI Mobile connection with certificates. According to the manual we are storing a password protected certificate on a network location.
On our ipad when I open the link: (according to manual: Administrator and Report Designer's Guide , chapter 4.14.2.1 Installing the x509 Certificate on Device)
SAPBI://action=downloadcert&certurl=<Download URL>&Password=abc123
It should open and install the certificate in the app without asking for the password. But thats not working. It does ask for the password. So I can access the certificate location and after entering the password it works. But I am giving the password parameter in the link so why is this not working?
The guide is a bit contradictory, and I quote:
"If you access the second link above: The application is launched and the certificate file is downloaded from the URL location (certurl).
The certificate is directly installed on the device."
But second quote:
"NOTE:
Since the password is already included in the URL, the application does ask the user for the password...."
My question: what is the use of this password parameter if you still have to enter it manually?
Does anybody know if this should work, and what I might be doing wrong?

Yes this is possible via a custom Identity Assertion Provider if you are using Weblogic security. You can write the J2EE provider to extract the header and map the user to a LDAP user when you configure the authentication provider to use the same user store as OAM.

Install a web application on managed server

Hi guys,
I have 2 linux virtual machines (mach1 and mach2).
I installed weblogic with one adminserver on mach1 and one managed server on mach2.
Now I try to install apex for example on mach2. so I start weblogic on mach1, call weblogic console from mach2 BUT from here i cannot browse apex.war on mach2. It show only directories of mach1 !!! is this right ? am I missing something or all deployed applications should be installed in mach1 (where adminserver is) ?
PS: apex is an example. it can be any web application providing a war file.

Hi,
You can deploy the application on "stage" mode, so that admin server will distribute the application to mach2.
What you have to do is keep your web application on mach1 so that it is accessible from admin console. Now deploy the application in stage mode to managed server 2 on mach2 from console. Here Weblogic will access the application from mach1 and distribute it to managed server 2 i.e on mach2.
Usualy in an ideal scenario platform design should be made to have a shared mount between machines for weblogic domain.

A Cloud subscription provides for installing working installations on two machines. You can have mixed operating systems (both Windows and Apple's OX).

I am running OS X 10.9.3 with Server 3.1.2 on a Mac-Mini Mid-2012. I learned on my last implementation of OS X 10.9.3 that Mavericks sometimes has issues with handling group mail. As I rebuild my network, I am wondering if it is possible to install a SMTP proxy that can receive, process, then forward mail on to the primary mail server.
For example, if mail is sent to a group account, this SMTP proxy would repackage the message as a message to a carbon copy list of all the group members, but if the mail is sent to a user account, the mail is forwarded unmodified. Like this:
As an alternative to this, I would also be interested a solution in which the Linux Mail Server referenced the Open Directory for account information, including password authentication, so that if a user in the Mac Network updates his password, that he can use the same password to access his mail on a webmail client or via the Mail.app.
This is a callout for discussion points, ideas and recommendations. There is no problem here to fix necessarily.

I am not aware of a tool to do the group splitting for you, this is normally the responsibility of the mail server itself.
However with regards to your second query, a lot of people use a product called Kerio Connect instead of Apple's Mail server. Kerio can run on the same Mac server but in general is a far more powerful mail server. It does include the ability to authenticate user accounts against Open Directory.
There is one issue you need to be aware of, like nearly all mail servers it uses the 'username' as the main email address, so if you want an email account of [email protected] then your Open Directory short name need to be jsmith, if you want your email address to be [email protected] then your user short name needs to be john.doe and so on.
Note: While I have specifically talked about Kerio most other mail server including those for Linux would be able to link to Open Directory via LDAP and authenticate email accounts. The same link between email address and short name would usually apply.
