Is it possible to install PDT in Flash Builder 4.5?

Is it possible to install PDT in Flash Builder 4.5? If yes, how?

You can install any Helios eclipse plugin to FB 4.5.
Fair warning, commenting is broken in that version of PDT. Hopefully there will be an update soon. Sucha pain!
*edit*
Sorry I didn't see the second part of your question.
Run FB as Administrator and go to Help -> Install New Software -> Add Site
The helio repository is: http://download.eclipse.org/releases/helios/
Follow the prompts after that to install any desired extensions.

  • Install of Adobe Flash Builder 4.5 fails

Installation of Adobe Flash Builder 4.5 fails with 3 warnings and 4 errors.
Attatched are the errors presented in the log.
Some Google searches suggested uninstalling both the Flash plugin and ActiveX controls and/or rebooting to troubleshoot the installtion. Neither solution worked for me.
I have also uninstalled the previous version of Flash Builder (FB4) even though there was supposedly no conflict betweent the two.
Adobe support suggested creating a "webcase;" anyone know where I can do that?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Cannot install Flash Builder on a network home drive

When trying to install in our corporate environment we have network home drives and the Flash Builder installer for some reason tries to create a directory here:

    Hi,
You're right that we're trying to create your default workspace in the folder one level up from your roaming documents folder, and that's what's causing the conflict between our installer and your roaming profile.
This is on our radar to fix for the next release, but here's a workaround you could try in the meantime. From what we've seen with roaming network profiles, our installers will have trouble mainly if your roaming documents folder has been flattened (redirected) to the root of your profile tree. If you can have your network profile reconfigured with the more conventional home folder at the top level, and the documents folder underneath it, then the relative path will be able to resolve correctly in your network tree.
There's more info here, about how to configure your roaming profile on the server to follow the conventional tree structure:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc766489(WS.10).aspx
Depending on who administers your network profiles, you might need someone in IT/IS to help with this.

  • Installing AIR3 SDK in Flash Builder 4.5.1 ?????

    Hi All,
Can anyone help me, with installing AIR3 SDK - Flash Builder 4.5.1, logically, I need to overally the sdk, the way, we use to do with previous version of AIR SDK.
    But no luck
    Thanks,
    Ravi

    Hi Ravi,
just installed AIR3 SDK at work. I try to recap the steps I did:
    1. Locate the "old" SDKs
They are located in the Flash Builder directory, in my case this was c:\program files(x86)\adobe\flash builder 4.5\sdks
    2. Make a copy of the previous SDK
Copy a previous SDK (I used SDK 4.5.1 for that) and rename the copied folder to AIR3SDK (or a different name if you like)
    3. Overwrite the copied (!) SDK with the AIR3 SDK
Copy  all files from the AIR3 SDK into the copied folder. It should ask you  to overwrite files quite a couple of times. After this, you should have a  working AIR3 SDK installed.
    4. Set a name for the new SDK
I had to to this with the Beta2 - go to the new SDK directory and edit flex-sdk-description.xml - change the <name> content from Flex 4.5.1 to AIR3 SDK.
    6. Add the new playerglobal.swc from Flash Player 11
Download the current Flash Player 11 "playerglobal.swc" from http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer11.html and put it into the correct folder. From the SDKs root folder this was: <sdkroot>/frameworks/libs/player/11.0/ (I had to create the 11.0 folder myself and then just put the file in there and rename it to plain "playerglobal.swc")
    7. Add the AIR3 SDK to Flash Builder
Under "Project Settings - Flex Compiler" for a project, choose the new SDK as SDK to use for the project. If the SDK does not show up, go to "configure Flex SDKs", then "Add" and select the newly created folder. The new AIR3 SDK should now be included in the dropdown list as a compiler for that project.
Don't forget to add -swf-version=13 as a compiler flag on the same screen.
After doing all this, I was able to use the new features, compile my projects and well, work with it
Edit: I almost forgot - you also have to set the namespace in your -app.xml to 3.0 like this:
    <application xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/air/application/3.0">
    Best regards,
    Martin

ERROR:  - Adobe Flash Builder: Install failed

    Hi,
Looks as if you have your home folder on VMWare mapped back to the host OS drive, and that's triggering the initial failure in the log you posted. There's a faulty assumption in our installer's home folder logic that you've encountered, where it thinks your home folder is one level above your Documents folder, though we know that's not always true.
Here's a workaround you could try:
    - Back up your Documents folder for safe keeping (\\vmware-host\Shared Folders\Documents)
    - create a new folder tree named \\vmware-host\Shared Folders\home\Documents. The folder in the middle doesn't need to be named "home", you can call it anything you want, but there needs to be a new folder in the middle. Make sure you have write access to that home folder, as well as to its Documents subfolder.
    - in VMWare Windows, reconfigure your User settings, moving your "My Documents" location down to the one created below \home\.
That last step varies a little, depending on which version of Windows you're running. On Win7 you can do it this way:
    - in your user home folder (\Users\yourUserName) locate the My Documents icon, and right-click it
    - choose Properties
    - in the "Location" tab, click Move, and then choose the \\vmware-host\Shared Folders\home\Documents fodler you created earlier on your VMWare host
On Vista, you can right-click the Documents icon in your Start Menu, choose Properties, and from there on it's about the same as on Win7.
On WinXP it looks slightly different:
    - right-click your My Documents icon (often on the desktop for convenience), and select Properties
    - the tab you want is named "Target" on WinXP, and then you can click Move to relocate it to the same location described earlier.
After moving your Documents location this way, I would reboot first, and then make sure any old copies of FB4 are completely removed before re-installing. I just tested this out on my own VMWare machine (Vista), and it worked here, so with any luck it will work there too.
Let me know how it goes,
    -Chris
P.S. We'll be fixing this problem in the next release, but can only offer this workaround for now. Thanks for bearing with us.

  • Problems installing Flash Builder

I've installed and used PS, AI, BR, and FL, and I installed and used Flash Builder several months ago.  When I tried to use it 2 days ago, it wouldn't open. The initial splash opens and it goes through the "loading ..." until it gets to "loading workbench ..." then it disappears. I tried uninstalling/installing it and it still won't open.  The FlashBuilder.exe in my directory has only 51 KB.  All the other Adobe apps work fine.  I tried signing out and signing back in. No luck.
How can I get it to work?

    Hi Lindal3l,
You might want to uninstall Flash Builder and try reinstalling it
    You can uninstall from:
Control Panel > Programs & Features (Windows 7/8)
Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs (XP)
Mac HD > Applications > Utilities > Adobe Installers (Mac OS X)

  • Flash Builder 4.7 downgrade to 4.6 version

    Hey,
We have bought a license key for upgrade from Flash Builder 4.0 SE to Flash Builder 4.7 SE, but we need access to Designer View which is not available in FB 4.7.
Our distributor tell us, that it is possible by doing downgrade to Flash Builder 4.6. To do it we should contact with Adobe Support.
    So our questions are:
    1. How can we downgrade Flash Builder from 4.7 SE to 4.6?
    2. Could we change our license key to 4.6 license key?
    3. How can we download Flash Builder 4.6 binary files?
    Best regards,
    Juri

In order for you to downgrade you need to hava an AVL license, and yes it is possible, you just need to call support.
    http://www.adobe.com/volume-licensing/policies.html
    Check Backward licensing policy
"Adobe allows program members to order a current-version license but use a prior version. These members can contact Adobe Customer Service to request a serial number for the earlier version if they do not already have one. Prior-version software is available via ESD and can be purchased through standard resellers. The program member must follow all guidelines of the current-version EULA.
Note: This policy is applicable under the TLP and Forms Licensing Program (FLP) as well."
    Hope it helps!

  • CS6 Trial, Flash Builder 4.7 and CC

    Here's the overall circumstance:
I have a new job with an employer that is using CS6 Master Collection. It is installed on my at work workstation as a trial. Inhouse support says a licence is on its way. I also have a CC licence personally.
Here's what I wanted to achieve:
    - update Flash Builder 4.6 to 4.7 which is a free update under CS6
    Here's what I did:
    - I couldn't find the direct download for 4.7 so I signed into my CC account and downloaded and installed 4.7, assuming it would run under the CS6 trial
    Here's what happened:
    - Flash Builder wants to use the CC licence under which I downloaded it
    - I have already used the two installs for the CC licence (I run a Mac as my personal development machine with Parallels/Windows and have a CC licence running on the Mac and my second CC install running on the Windows partition on the Mac)
    - Flash Builder won't run unless I deactivate my other installs on my Mac
    - other CS6 apps are running under the trial licence
Here's what I did to troubleshoot:
    - uninstalled CS6
    - uninstalled CC
    - downloaded the AdobeCreativeClouldCleanerTool
    - cleaned everything available under the tool
    - everything was removed except for the 64 bit Flash Builder 4.7 install
    - deleted the 4.7 install folder directly as there was no uninstaller available (Flash Builder was not listed under the Control Panels:Programs and Features)
    - re-installed CS6, including Flash Builder 4.6 (I'd given up on having 4.7 until my CS6 licence is established)
    - now Flash Builder 4.6 won't run at work unless I deactivate my CC licences on my personal Mac
    - all the other re-installed CS6 apps run under the trial
    To the questions:
    1) Is there any way to get Flash Builder 4.6 working again under the trial?
    2) Will Flash Builder 4.6 work under the CS6 licence once I have a serial number?
    3) Is there anyway to update Flash Builder to 4.7 and have it work with the CS6 serial number?
    Chris

I experienced this problem today, and kind of "solved" it. There may be an underlying bug, though.
My project compiled fine last Thursday, but I opened it up on Monday (unchanged) and this error showed up in several files. I tried quitting and restarting Flash Builder to no avail. I could not replicate the problem in a new project.
For me, each occurence of the error was at a private function definition, so I thought I would try changing "private" to "public" on one of the functions. The error immediately went away in all 3 locations (not just the one I edited). I then changed it back to "private" with no error.
I hope that will help the Adobe team track down the problem.

  • Is Flash Builder a good beginner program for creation of android app?

    Hi there,
I'm planning to create a Android app and I'm searching for the right program to do so. I have absolutly no knowledge about programming, but happen to have Flash Builder as part of the Creative Suite CS6. As I need to learn everything from the complete beginning, I'd like to pick the best program for this purpose, so I don't learn a lot of stuff not be able to achieve the product I'd like. Let me give you a example of what I will try to achieve:
    Program for Android:
    - first page of the program would be a welcome page, it would be nice to be able to put a login and password option here, but that is not neceserry.
    - second page would be a list of 14 options - books - and by clicking on each option I would open a little book (cca 30 pages).
    - this option would be nice: let's say I open the third book and stop reading on page 10 and stop/close the program - the next time I open the program it would open the program on that very 10th page of the third book
    - this option would aslo be nice: some kind of searching modul to search keywords in the book.
Is this kind of app possible to make in Adobe Flash Builder, or would it be better to learn another program? Thanks a lot for your experiences! Hedvertel

If you have a licence for Master Collection you should have the info about what it contains.
A few moments on Google took me here: http://www.ecostsoftware.com/adobe/adobe-creative-suite-cs6-master-collection-mac_p5565?gc lid=CNzN5MbKmLoCFXDJtAodWDoA3w
The included software is listed. I don't think Muse existed when CS6 was originally released.
I didn't properly read George's answer, but I don't see Muse as a great app builder.
I kind of don't understand at all, why you even answer, if the only thing you are saying in this disucssion is that it's too ambitious and that I'm stupid even asking.
Saying the project is overly-ambitious is a great answer to your question. In post 5 you clearly valued that answer enough as to be giving up on the project.
I didn't say you were stupid asking these questions, it's more a case of asking questions you should be able to answer yourself without too much trouble.
I still think that with your current level of understanding, takling this project with no experience of any programming or web technology is overly ambitious. Start small and build on that.
You don't say why you want to do this particular project - whether it's about learning in general or that project in particular. If it's learning in general there's nothing to stop you - there are a ton of tutorials out there. If it's for this particular project only, I would stop now.
You need to invest a significant amount of time to learn this stuff.
Are you on some design course? Why do you have the master collection?

  • Flash Builder 4 and PHP

    Hi
I was just wondering if you could help me with a problem i'm having. I'm using adobe flash builder 4 to create an application and i have it connected to a php database to populate the data grids. I have three data grids, which are drag enabled and they will be populated from the database. I then have a fourth data grid, which is used to store the data dragged from the other three.
What i want to do is take the data that is dragged into the fourth grid and store it in an array in a php file. Is this possible?
    Shell

I also have Flash Builder 4.5 for PHP and the ANT view does not show when going to Window -> Show View --> Other.  I could not find it in any of the folders.
However, I was able to add it by hitting Command 3 (CTRL 3 on PC) and typing Ant.
