Is it possible to install photoshop 5.0 (CD) on macbook pro?

To whom it may concern,
I'm not sure how unique my situation is but let me briefly explain.  In a prior life I was a photographer (about 12 years ago).  At that time I had purchased Photoshop and upgraded it a couple of times.  When I stopped photographing I was up to photoshop 5 with the CD and appropriate serial numbers.  Recently I decided to get back to photography and went to install Photoshop 5 on my computer (MacBook Pro) but it was not compatible.  What can I do to use it.  I do not really want a newer version especially at full cost.  My first preference is to somehow install Photoshop 5 even if there was some cost to the adaptation process.  If this is not possible (hard to believe, as we've put men on the moon) then at some compromise cost I am willing to upgrade.  But again, this is not my first choice.  As I completely understand that you would not want to allow customers to skip numbers of additions at a fixed upgrade cost, you must understand that I really don't want or need the current version.  I simply want to be able to use what I have purchased, even if it is out-dated.
I look forward to hearing from you, as I would like to solve this issue legitimately.
Sincerely,
Erik Simmons

  • How do you install Photoshop 5.0 onto the Macbook Pro?

so i've been trying to install the photoshop elements 5.0 for about a weeeek now...lol & this thing still isnt working! i'm really gettin angry! jk. but i'm serious tho, how do you install this onto the macbook pro?

OK seriously, I did not want to make you feel stupid, it was in fact the first thing that came to my mind. Now, if you got something from Costco, there is probably a box or a CD with it, which should tell you whether it is a PC version or a Mac version. These apps usually come with items like a camera or maybe a scanner included. Please take the time and check what you got. If there is nothing on the disk telling you it's a Mac-version, youprobably got the wrong thing.
The Mac version is available via Adobe's website, just look for Photoshop Elements 9, that's the current version. There even is a trial available.

  • Photoshop Elements 4.0 on macbook pro?

    Hi!
Anyone know if it is possible to install Photoshop Elements 4.0 on macbook pro 10.6.4? Cause when I install it, restart computer, open the application then it says that something is invalid, name, licence nr, ... But I know that everything is correct and I tried to uninstall it and then again install it but the problem remains.
    Any word of advice?

A quick Google search found the page below that states that PSE 4.0 is NOT compatible with Leopard so it is certainly not compatible with Snow Leopard.
If you need PSE, you are going to have to upgrade to a newer version

Lion is the highest version your can install. You need to have 2 GBs of RAM and be running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

Hello,i want to install Photoshop CS4 on my new macbook, but i'm receiving Fault 150:30. You should contact support from adobe :-(
I already tried every step on the support site, but Photoshop, Indesign and Illustrator still don't work. So this is an S.O.S. here...

I've repaired many a 150:30 error using this method. First make sure your account is an Administrator type.
When you type sudo <space> and drag LicenseRecover.py into the Terminal window, this is what you should see when you press Enter.
Type in your admin password if any, and let the script run and finish.

While it's possible to run Windows 7 or the Mac OS using Bootcamp, you can run Windows 7 and the Mac OS at the same time by creating a virtual machine (VM) using VMware Fusion, Parallels, or Virtual Box. One advantage of a virtual machine is that you can put the VM file on an external drive so that the VM file size isn't limited to available space on your internal. Another is that you can back up that file and/or create snapshots of the state of Windows at any point in time and revert to that state in seconds if something (e.g., a virus infection) goes terribly wrong. I have such a setup running in a rMBP early 2013 myself and it's very fast.

  • While trying to instal Mountain Lion OS on my macbook pro, I got the error message that my HD was damaged and it reverted to my Lion OS. Why does this happen? I bought the OS online through the app store

While trying to instal Mountain Lion OS on my macbook pro, I got the error message that my HD was damaged and it reverted to my Lion OS. Why does this happen? I bought the OS online through the app store.

The Mountain Lion installer looks at your internal drive to make certain that it's error-free before continuing installation. You should have an application named "Install OS X Mountain Lion.app" in your Applications folder now so you shouldn't have to download it again. Do this...
Boot to your Lion recovery partition by holding down both the Command and the R keys while booting. Open Disk Utility from the Recovery partition and select your hard drive (usually named "Macintosh HD" unless you've renamed it) and click on Verify Disk. If you come up with any errors, click on Repair Disk. At the end of the cycle you will get a message that the disk was successfully repaired or a message that the hard drive could not be repaired.
If you're able to repair the disk, just reboot as normal and open the "Install OS X Mountain Lion.app" and the installation will proceed. If Disk Utility was unable to repair the disk, you need to get to your local Apple Store as soon as possible so that they can see if the disk is salvageable or beyond repair.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • Is it possible to change the Apple ID for my macbook pro?

Is it possible to change the Apple ID for my macbook pro? My laptop is currently registered under my husband`s ID, and I would like to change it to my apple ID so I can install changes / updates (as we are now separated). Would appreciate any help.

In your post you have indicated that the MBP has Snow Leopard (10.6.8) installed.  You will have to use the original OSX disk and slide it into the DVD drive on startup holding the C key.  Then you follow the instructions on the display.
Worst case is to take it to an Apple store and have them assist you in the installation process.
    Ciao.

  • Trying to re-install Snow Leopard over Lion and Macbook Pro is beeping like a memory failure

I installed Lion on my work 15" MacBook Pro i7 to give it a go, and it's not working with the system we use for Active Directory login, so I need to roll back to Snow Leopard.
I don't have a Time Machine backup, but I have pulled all the data I need from the machine, and have wiped the hard disk ready to reinstall Snow Leopard.
I have a retail copy of Snow Leopard that I've recently used successfully for fresh installs on other machines, but now once I insert the DVD into this machine that's had Lion on it, it's not responding and just making alarming BEEP BEEP BEEP noises.
I googled that and it might be bad RAM (possible, but unlikely? the machine has been running very well up until now)
I've wiped the PRAM, but the instructions for wiping the SMC are a bit cryptic for these machines ...
Does anyone have any clues as to what might be causing this? A firmware issue of some sort?
Maybe the hidden EFI partition on the drive won't let you install Snow Leopard over a disk that's had Lion?

Might be some useful info here:
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1175934
" I used target disk mode to install Snow Leopard on its partition. I used a friends Macbook Pro, but I put my machine into target disk mode and ran the installer from his user account and optical drive. From a couple things I read online, it seems that Apple recommends putting the other machine in target disk mode and doing it the other way around. I guess some critical files might not have been installed? I also used a retail copy of Snow Leopard instead of my grey recovery disk, so that might be it too. "
"Your machine is newer than the retail copy of Snow Leopard. Use the restore disks it came with.
The installation will need to be done from your machine. You may need to do a net install, so look at "Remote Install Mac OS X" in Utilities."
I'm currently installing from the macbook firewired to the other machine as recommended so hopefully that might help

    Hi nieldm,
Nathan, one of Debookee's developper, here.
What is possible is that you've got a web page launched which has chat features. LiveChatInc seems to be used by major companies (although it has recently and silently been breached, see: http://seclists.org/fulldisclosure/2012/Oct/191), and can be included in web pages of other websites.
To test it, close all your browsers and see if still any traffic.
If yes, then it comes from an installed 'soft', if not, then go step by step opening websites and you'll identify it easily.
Make me think that it could be a nice feature in Debookee to see from which application the network traffic is originating: Browsers / applications / Mac OS internals ...
    Good luck,
    Nathan

  • I installed an software Update on my MacBook Pro and after that my laptop wont reboot passed the gray screen?

After installing a software update on my Macbook Pro, it would not reboot passed the gray screen and then would shut down.

Take each of these steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
The first step in dealing with a boot failure is to secure your data. If you want to preserve the contents of the startup drive, and you don't already have at least one current backup, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data that has changed since your last backup, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to boot. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
         a. Boot into the Recovery partition, or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) When the OS X Utilities screen appears, launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
    b. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    c. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
    Step 2
Press and hold the power button until the power shuts off. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to boot, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use a different keyboard and/or mouse, if those devices are wired. If you can boot now, one of the devices you disconnected, or a combination of them, is causing the problem. Finding out which one is a process of elimination.
If you've booted from an external storage device, make sure that your internal boot volume is selected in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.
    Step 3
Boot in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
When you boot in safe mode, it's normal to see a dark gray progress bar on a light gray background. If the progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or if the system shuts down automatically while the progress bar is displayed, your boot volume is damaged and the drive is probably malfunctioning. In that case, go to step 5.
If you can boot and log in now, empty the Trash, and then open the Finder Info window on your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) Check that you have at least 9 GB of available space, as shown in the window. If you don't, copy as many files as necessary to another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion isn't complete until you empty the Trash again. Do this until the available space is more than 9 GB. Then reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)
If the boot process hangs again, the problem is likely caused by a third-party system modification that you installed. Post for further instructions.
    Step 4
Sometimes a boot failure can be resolved by resetting the NVRAM.
    Step 5
Launch Disk Utility in Recovery mode (see Step 1.) Select your startup volume, then run Repair Disk. If any problems are found, repeat until clear. If Disk Utility reports that the volume can't be repaired, the drive has malfunctioned and should be replaced. You might choose to tolerate one such malfunction in the life of the drive. In that case, erase the volume and restore from a backup. If the same thing ever happens again, replace the drive immediately.
This is one of the rare situations in which you should also run Repair Permissions, ignoring the false warnings it may produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then reboot as usual.
    Step 6
Reinstall the OS. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
    Step 7
Repeat step 6, but this time erase the boot volume in Disk Utility before installing. The system should automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant. Follow the prompts to transfer your data from a Time Machine or other backup.
    Step 8
This step applies only to a Mac Pro tower, not to any other model. A dead logic-board battery can cause a gray screen at boot. Typically the boot failure will be preceded by loss of the startup disk and system clock settings. See the user manual for replacement instructions.
    Step 9
If you get this far, you're probably dealing with a hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested.
