Is it possible to install WIn7 on Equium A200-1V0?

Is it possible and how would one do it?
I have already made an a**e of installing xp, so I thought I could really a**e things up by going for win 7.
I will never ever touch Toshiba laptops again, worst thing I ever did was buy this.
I have never encountered anything so inflexible in my life. I now have the worlds most expensive paperweight.

The problem is that when I insert the disc into the drive :
a. it does not read it, the disc drive does not appear to work at all.
When copying the disc to a hard drive and then trying the install it gives me an error message stating it cannot read the data on the disc. I have installed it on two desktops without issue.
I stand by my comment regarding inflexibility, I tried to install xp on the same machine and that was a disaster. I have never seen such a long winded or complex procedure to do a simple change of os. I would like to format the drive but cannot for some reason. Toshiba = b.o.s

When you enlarge the image, it says Satellite on the front of the laptop (as with the Satellite laptops).
Can I be assured that the laptop will look exactly like this, (with or without the "Satellite" on the front), I like the design and do not want to end up with something different.
    Help is much appreciated, thanks!

If you reply with you email adress I can take a couple of hi-res photos of mine and send you for comparing :)

  • Is it possible to install Win7 64-bit on Satego P100-490?

    Hi,
I wonder if its possible to install that version on my notebook?
There are no drivers to download on the toshiba page, so I'd like to ask if anyone has any suggestions for me.

    Hi
    Yes, this is possible.
Satego P100 series is very similar to Satellite P100 series and if you need Win 7 drivers I recommend checking also the drivers released for Satellite P100.
Note; Satellite P100 is a little bit older notebook series and the drivers can be found in Archive. In download form -> Product type choose Archive and then point to the P100 series.

  • Equium A200-1V0 wont turn on

Was using my Equium today and all of a sudden it just turned itself off with the charger cable plugged in!
Now it wont turn on and even with the charger cable plugged in, it is not showing any lights, making no noise at all, it is completely dead, doing absolutly nothing when you press the power button!! I tested the power cable and it is putting out power and working correctly!!
Does anyone know what could be wrong with it?? Thanks!

I am afraid you are right. There must be some serious problem with power supply electronic.
Please contact nearest Toshiba authorized service provider and ask for help.

  • Installing Win7 on a macbook pro using a mac mini as external optical drive

    hi everyone,
My 2 year old son watches movies on my macbook pro. He stuck something in the optical drive making it unusable. Repairing it is 200 to 300 euros (ouch).
I want to install win7 via bootcamp and I'm using my mac mini (october 2009) as an external optical drive. These are my steps:
1.hold the "t" on the mac mini
2.connect it to the macbook with a firewire 800 to firewire 400 cable
3.Power up and hold the "alt" on the macbook
4.I see the optical drive on the boot screen and I choose it
5.Then I get a blank screen and a few seconds later the "missing operating system" message appears.
Am I missing something? Is it possible to install win7 using a mac mini as an external drive?
PS1:I already have partitioned the HD with bootcamp.
PS2:I've upgraded the hard disk drive of the macbook with a seagate momentus 500GB hard disk. Don't think this is the problem, thought I should mentioned it.

    Hi Mike,
For reference it is called "IP over Firewire".
Connect the two computers with a fire wire cable. System Preferences > Network > Configure IPv4: > Manually > IP address: 192.168.3.1 (and .2 on other) > Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0. Leave the other fields blank. Do this on both computers on the computer you want to allow access to or both for two way access go to System Preference > Sharing > Select a service to change its settings. Turn remote Login on.
On the MBP go to the Finder Menu > Go > Connect to Server > Type in the IP address of the Mini 192.168.3.2 (Whatever you gave it)
With this configuration you still have full use of the Mini and certain apps can use Xgrid and use the processor of the mini when it is not doing anything. I would keep the Mini as 10.4 unless you really need both machines running Leopard. As noted before you cannot boot the MBP from a HDD that is Apple Partition Scheme and vice versa you cannot boot the PPC from a Guide Partition Table.

  • Is it possible to install Windows 7 on my Satellite M40X?

    Hi,
I tried to update on Windows 7. Now I am looking for a driver for audio, network and massstorage. Is it generally possible to install win7?
    Thanks

    Hi
Win 7 is definitely possible. I could install Win 7 on my 6 years old notebook even if the drivers were not available.
I used this instruction to find out what device my notebook support and could search using google for Win 7 drivers:
[How to identify an unknown device?|http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD0302U00000R01.htm]
But to be honest, its difficult to find all Win 7 drivers for such units the point is that even chip manufacturers dont provide Win 7 drivers for older chip/devices.
However in most cases Windows 7 uses own standard Microsoft drivers.

  • Memory speed - Equium A200 PSAF5E

    Hi all,
    I own a Toshiba Equium A200 - 1V0
    Model no. PSAF5E - 001003sp
Bios version updated to v. 2.50
Everest Ultimate 4.5.1330 says that I have 2GB of RAM, in two sticks of Samsumg DDR2-667. Also it says too that my FSB is 133Mhz with correct CPU speed and multipier.
The problem comes with memory speed. It shows DDR2-667 capable sticks and chipset, but DRAM:FSB ratio is set to 8:4 resulting in DDR2-533, in any energy profile. The system operates in dual-channel 128bit configuration, so I'm losing 2144 MB/sec of transfer speed.
The chipset is identified as an Intel Crestline GML GL960, Everest and Toshiba website show it as DDR2-667 capable, Intel website claims about DDR2-533.
    Link:[http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=UK&com.broadvis ion.session.new=Yes&PRODUCT_ID=138201]
    Link:[http://www.intel.com/products/notebook/chipsets/gl960/gl960-overview.htm]
I haven't found any motherboard info or manual, so here are my questions:
    - Is this speed normal or may I expect the DDR2-667 mode with this system?
    - Is the dual-channel mode decreasing memory speed?
    - If I re-install memory modules one by one and changing the position, Could it reset the speed values of the system?
    - Can I access to any hidden BIOS settings to tweak the memory? (I have a Medion system that has a hidden and password protected BIOS mode accessible through F11 instead of F2 where I can find lots of options not shown in normal F2 BIOS)
    - Any more ideas?
Many thanks in advance. Any help would be much apreciated.

    Hi HiperGrover,
As PauPau wrote, the limited FSB is 533 MHz and that means the memory modules will run at this speed. Furthermore DDR2-667 modules can be used properly but they run only with lower speed.
So don be worry about this, everything is ok with your notebook.
Last but not least in BIOS there are no options about tweaking the modules and such options will not bring a strong performance boost but they could make your computer unstable.

  • Is it possible to install windows XP on Equium L40-156

Hi, I want to install windows XP on my laptop. Is it possible to do it? and where I can get drivers?

    Hi
Of course its possible to install the XP on this notebook.
I checked the official Toshiba website and found out that the Equium L40-156 belongs to the PSL49 series!
This series number is important to get compatible Xp drivers from the Toshiba European driver page.
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp
On this page you can find an XP driver package for you notebook!
Very important is the BIOS update. If you want to use the XP on this Vista notebook you have to update the BIOS to the XP version!!!
Without the right BIOS some Toshiba features like FN keys could not work!!!
    Best regards

  • Windows 8 possible to install on HP Pavilion h8-1030nl

Hi, I would like to know whether it is possible to install windows 8(.1) on my desktop computer HP Pavilion h8-1030nl ?
    thanks for answers

There is a program that will test your entire system. Be sure to have every device connected, and powered. It will analyze everything connected, and all your installed sofware.  Neat huh?? So here goes, and enjoy.   The program.
Now the question to you.  WHY?   Windows 8/8.1 is under so much turmoil.  WIN9 has been scrapped.   I suggest you google "WIN 10"  and read all about it.   It's a better scenerio. More on it later, for sure.   See here.

  • Portege Z830: Can't install Win7, complains about missing CD/DVD driver

    Hi!
I have a brand new Portege Z830 and as usual wanted to start with installing a new installation of Windows 7 x64 (as I don't want the supplied software and can't trust that it is safe anyway). I backed up the entire drive, prepared a bootable USB flashdisk with Windows installation and started it. The flashdisk boots OK, Windows ask me about my preferred language and keyboard, then shows a screen where I can choose between Install, Repair and something else (Recovery Console, I think).
I click Install, Windows starts the installation program aand as soon as a first dialog appears, it shows an error message which says essentially this (it's a translation of my localized Windows' message): "A required driver for CD/DVD drive is missing. If you use a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD or flashdisk, insert it now." And I can't get over this error message. The strange thing is, there is no reason for Windows to require any extra drivers, as it can (apparently) read the installation flashdisk and it can see the ultrabook's SSD, too (can be verified both in the recovery console and by clicking the Browse button of this dialog). So far I tried:
    1) Four different Windows 7 images (two of them from MSDN AA, two physical, all of which have been successfully used to install the OS before).
    2) Switch SATA mode from AHCI to Compatible.
    3) Two different flashdisks.
    4) All possible combinations of boot order.
Nothing worked. I even tried e-mailing Toshiba, but all messages come back with "user unknown" (understandable, I had to guess the addresses since Toshiba doesn't seem to provide any official way to contact them - or is hiding it so well I couldn't find it). Does anyone have any idea what I could try next? I rather like the Z830 and would love to use it, but the ability to install my own installation of the OS is essential for me.
    Thanks, Pepak

    > I even tried e-mailing Toshiba...
Maybe stupid question now but have you tried to contact Microsoft too? If BIOS is OK and if all USB ports are working properly I dont think it is Toshiba related issue. Toshiba offers notebook with original recovery image (WIN7 64BIT HOME PREMIUM) and possibility to create bootable USB with recovery image that can be used anytime you want.
What you do now is your own OS installation. What Toshiba must do is to offer all important drivers, tools and utilities on drivers download page.
What else you can try? Try to obtain external USB ODD and try to install WIN7 using Microsoft installation disc. Im pretty sure this will work.

  • How to uninstall Lion OS and install Win7?

    I have a MacAir with 64Gb.
to fully utilise the space, i will like uninstall Lion and install Win7 only.
can anyone advise how to do it with bootcamp? if not possible, w/o bootcamp?
    thanks

Do you have 10.6 Client? Does it boot/run on the latest Mini?
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
From there you can reformat or erase the Disk

  • Win 7 x64 - possible to install CS4 64-bit only?

Is it possible to install only the 64-bit version of CS4 on Win7 64-bit ?
I do not really need to keep both versions (I do not use many plugins).
    Thank you

The general advice is to install both 32- and 64-bit version but there is a read-me on the installation disk which tells you how install CS4 64-bit only.
    Quote:
If you want to install ONLY the 64-bit application follow these steps:
    1. Run the Photoshop CS4 installer.
    2. Enter your serial number. Click Accept.
    3. On the right side of the Options panel under the 64-bit heading, uncheck the box for Adobe Photoshop CS4 (leave the “Adobe Photoshop CS4 (64-bit)” option checked).
    4. Finish installation.

  • Installing Win7 and creating 3 partitions (  the recovery one)

    Hello Mac World !
I`m the new guy Apple had convinced to switch to a MBA instead of another PC ! But yet, I need my win7 also and this is what brings me to this post!
I just bought a MBA, which comes with Lion preinstalled, so I`m fine with that, quite eager actual...! Now, I`ve read a lot of discussions/forums regarding the installation of win7 and it looks pretty clear until creating the partitions.
From what I`ve learned, the max of partitions is 4 and deleting the recovery one is kind of mandatory and I`m not really cool with that, since I have no other way to restore Lion. I always had 3 partitions in my PCs (c = win, d+e = storage) and I would like to mantain it that way, on my Air if possible. If not, I`ll make a compromise, as having 2 partitions for each O.S and a shared one (data storage) for both of them.
Can someone please walk me trough the process? Will MBA recognise an external dvd in order to install win7 from a dvd? The boot camp drivers should be used after win7 installation is completed, or before that?
I thank anyone who is taking the time & trouble to guide a new be in the Mac World ! I really appreciate it !

A stand alone external USB DVD/CD drive will work fine for installing Windows 7.  I bought one on ebay for about $25.  The Apple SuperDrive runs $79.  You didn't mention which MBA you got.  I hope it has at least the 128GB SSD.  I have the 11" 128GB drive that I bought 2 months ago.
I'm running Windows 7 via Parallels 7.  Very slick program that allows easy and quick switching between the systems.  While I can't be sure, I'm under the impression that with Parallels, you don't have to set a hard  partition and it uses whether recourses it needs from the entire hard drive.
With Windows 7, Parallels7 and MS Office '07, I still had about 90GB free. After I've added some music and videos, I still have 70GB free.  While I have haven't had to use it yet, I also have a 500 GB USB Passport  external hard drive.
After my installation, everything worked correctly from day one including the Internet both within Win7 and within OS-X.
I have a iMac also that I'm basically running the same programs on. However, it uses Bootcamp instead.  That works fine also, but it's a bit of a PITA to switch back and forth as that requires a complete reboot.
My ONLY reason for Windows is MS Office, Quicken and  MS Streets and Trips.  Other than these programs, I run my MBA in OS-X most of the time.  Others here, maybe even most would question my opinion that Windows 7 is just as good or close to OS-X.
I think if you wanted to try Parallels, you can get a free 30 tryout and if it doesn't work, blow it off.
My wife has a Mac Mini that we first went the BootCamp route along with Windows 7.  Later she got Parallels and installed it.  It automatically recognized the BootCamp Windows 7 installation and now she can go either way.   She can boot directly to either Windows 7 or OS-X.  Once in OS-X, she can fire up Parallels and then switch back and forth.  I personally think it's a smoother operation going straight Parallels.

  • Is it possible to install previous TRIAL versions of previous versions of Adobe Creative Cloud Software?

Look, I'm just testing the trial versions right now.  Don't try to troubleshoot something that I don't ask; this is what I'm looking to accomplish:
Is it possible to install a trial version of any of the Adobe Creative Cloud software in a previous version?  By that, I am referring to the following:
I want to install a trial version of Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014; NOT Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014.1.  If you notice, I want to reinstall a trial version of the previous release.  Don't ask why, you'll just laugh for my stupid reason, but I'm merely wondering if it is possible.  Creative Cloud now only offers trials of the newest versions, and I want to install trails of previous versions for my own, personal reasons.  Is this possible to do with creative cloud, or must I do it some other way?
Is it also possible to obtain the physical installation files so that I won't have to always go through creative cloud to download them again (and then I can just set it up without being connected to the internet)?

The previous version option is only available to individuals which have a membership.  The availability of previous version titles available is dictated by the computer meeting the minimum system requirements and the entitlement of the membership to access the requested applications.  To future viewers of this discussion if you are unsure what software titles your membership is entitled to please contact our support team directly at Contact Customer Care.
