Is it possible to invert a movie file filmed vertically

This may be stupid and u can tell me so, but I took some video on my digital camera however when I took it, I had the camera in a vertical position so of course the video saved the images in horizontal format as it does all video...silly me! Anyway that I can flip the image to get it to run correctly like I can do with a still image?

As Karsten says, in italics at the bottom, because iMovie is meant to work with Digital Video shot with a camcorder, you may find that your video, if you shot it with a digital stills camera, has been recorded in a format called MPEG, and not in DV.
If so, to bring it into iMovie you'll have to do some conversion ..for instance, it may play perfectly well in QuickTime, but you may find that there's no audio when you bring it into iMovie.
Try MPEG Streamclip to convert it into DV if necessary.

  • Is it possible to make a .MOV file "un-downloadable"

    Hi there...
I have a weird question - is it possible to make an online video (.MOV file) "un-downloadable"?
I work at a college and a professor wants to post some videos within the school's public site. But, because of his concern with copyright, he wants to make it so the videos are impossible to download to the viewers' local machines.
Is there any type of setting or code that can be put within the .MOV file that would allow this to happen?
Thank you so much for any feedback you have!

Any browser viewed QuickTime file will be "cached" (stored on the viewing computer). This is how browser work (they keep a copy of every page element) to help speed up viewing.
QuickTime 7 (Mac and PC version) even allows the user to set the size of this cache so movies can be viewed while "off line".
True "streaming media" (served with special streaming server software) is not cached on the viewing machine so no local copy is made. Streaming Server (QTSS) is free software available from Apple.
What your school probably really wants is a way to prevent "copies" of your files being used. This is nearly impossible as anyone that views the file could use screen capture software to get a copy. Even the true streaming version.
    I use Snapz Pro.
You could use some type of "log on" Web page to help limit the audience.
You could also use "skin track" movies which make screen capture a bit of a chore.

My example will open in QuickTime Player. Even Pro users are prevented from saving or editing the file because it is protected by an AppleScript droplet "Save As Un-Editable" and modified for Tiger and QT 7.
Hope this helps you decide a plan.

  • Possible to add non-movie files in Encore?

I am interested in making a menus dvd, but which besides
normal movies files, contains an ebook probably in pdf. Ideally a menu icon in the dvd would open the pdf, but simply having the file present on the disc is better than nothing. Can this be done in Encore, and if so, how?
I've run some searches but maybe am not using good search terms and come up empty. Proper search term suggestions would also be welcome. Thanks

Actually opening non-movie files in a DVD player is not part of the DVD specification... a DVD player is not a computer... so this does not work
As mentioned, you may add a folder to the ROM content... and then make an entry in your video (such as a menu that is only a title) telling the user to take the disc to a computer to access the files

  • Query regarding conversion of Quick Time movie files to .swf format

    Hello Everyone,
Is it possible to convert QT movie files to .swf format using
    any tool ?
Will it significantly reduce the file size ?
Suppose we have a QT movie file of size 3MB , when it is
    converted to .swf
format what will be its size ?
Then can we play this .swf file using QT player or we require
    flash player
    to do so .
    Kindly answer these queries.
    Thanking you,
    With Best regards,
    Anil.

    Hi Anil.
Yes, you can. You can import QT movies into Flash and embed
    the movie and then
export an swf version of it. You can also convert teh video
    to a FLV (Flash
video) and have a swf that provides the controls and player
    for it.
    > Will it significantly reduce the file size ?
File size probably will go down but that depnds on what
    compression the orginal
QT has and what compression you use when importing to Flash.
    I'd say start with
a high quality QT, then try various compression levels when
    importing to get
the best size to quality balance.
    > Suppose we have a QT movie file of size 3MB , when it is

Is hard to say - as mentione dabove, depends on what the QT's
    compression is.
    > Then can we play this .swf file using QT player or we
    require flash player
    > to do so .
You'll have to play the swf through Flash. Why would you wnat
    to play it
    through QT?
What's the output for - CD/web? I'd suggest FLVs ratehr than
    an embedded vidoe
into a swf as you can get better quality control and
    playback.

  • Can you use QT mov. files on ipod

is it possible to use quicktime mov. files on ipod, i have them in my itunes but am wondering if this is possible,
    thankyou

You seem to be confusing the file format (.mov) with its content (compression format). If the .mov file does not contain a format compatible with your iPod, then you must convert it to a compatible format. The specifics for this conversion depend on the specific format present in your source file, what system you are using, and the software you have available, are willing to download, or purchase.
For instance, let's say you have a .mov file which contains a "muxed" MPEG1 movie. If you have a Mac, you could use the free iSquint application to turn it into an iPod compatible movie. On the other hand, Windows users could use the free Videora iPod Converter to do the same thing.
Use your QT Player "Show Movie Info" window to determine in which format your source file is actually enconded and go from there.

  • Is there any form to create a movi file from 3D Array in CVI?

    Hi,
Anyone knows if using CVI, it is possible to create a movie file (avi) from a 3D Array? And if yes could you tell me how to do that without any commercial dll?
    Thanks

  • .MOV file not recognized

Apologies if this issue has been addressed before...
Today I discovered that Finder is not recognizing several of my .MOV files. These are usually displayed as a small icon (image) from the video. Nor can these videos be played in QuickTime. I sincerely hope this can be resolved as the masters were deleted from my iPhone 5 upon upload from Image Capture.
    My specs:
    MacBook Pro OSX  10.9.5
    2.5 GHZ Intel Core i5
    8 GB RAM
    QuickTime 10.3
    Many thanks for your input/suggestions.
    Best,
    Brandt

    Hi,
there are two possibilities: The first one is, that the files are broken and thus can't be viewed. The second possibility is that the .mov files are using a codec your Quicktime Player can't display. You have to check this first. Open one of your .mov files with a tool like Media Inspector (http://mediainspector.massanti.com). This will show a lot of details of the movie clip including the used codec.
However, if you have shot the footage with your iPhone 5 the codec should be H.264 (or AVC, which is just another name for the same). Quicktime should be able to view it.
    Please post more details.
    Yours,
    Guenther

  • Automator to move files to external hard drive?

Is it possible to have "automator move files uploaded to my computer automatically from my phone, via motocast (Droid Razr Maxx) which sits in a "pictures" subfolder, and move it to the external hard drive i use to back up my macbook air weekly? I occasionally take photos and videos and were wondering if this is at all possible to do being that I only connect my external hard drive occasionally and not regularly. The external hard drive was partitioned to have a back up drive for time machine and another drive for other (pics&vids) use.
If it is possible can the automator task then trash all files in original pictures subfolder when task is complete to avoid any memory use on macbook air?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

You really don't want to do that.
You'll have only one copy of the files, on the external HD.  When (not if) it fails, they'll be lost.
For best results, get another external HD for your photos.  Then let Time Machine back up both your internal HD and the external.  See Time Machine - Frequently Asked Question #32 for details.

  • 'Get media' only brings in 2mins26secs10frames of 45 min .mov file

I'm importing a .mov file into Adobe Premiere Elements 7 but it only brings in a short section of it.
I can play the file in Windows Media Player and watch all 47 minutes of the file (its 2.6gb large) - but though I've tried several different times Elements only gets me 2mins 26 seconds and 10 frames of it.  This is despite the fact that I've successfully imported 1hr's worth of another .mov file filmed and imported on exactly the same settings just before trying to do this one.
I wonder if it is something to do with the indexing having gone wrong somehow - but that is only a vague hunch as I'm baffled why the two near identical files are being treated in different ways.

You've gotten the format issue worked out - just so many, that it's easy to get confused!
On file Duration issue, I have noticed that with some files, even DV-AVI Type II's, my PrPro will do the same thing. However, I found that just running that file through PrE (seems to do a much better job of getting the full Duration, than does its big-brother), and Exporting the same exact file format fixes the Duration. I've spent years trying to find out exactly what is the problem with these files. I've finally tracked it to the Indexing info in the header of some files. G-Spot shows them as identical, and DupeFile Finder does too. However, I recently ran a problem file through VLC Player and it coughed up an Indexing error. It fixed the index, but does not allow one to do a simple Save, so that the fixed index will be part of the file.
Still, PrE is my "conversion tool," of choice, as it seems to get around the index problem and will write a well-formed index to the file header.
Just an observation on a similar problem, though with a different file type.
Did the removal of the file get things corrected for you?
Along your line of thinking, I'd love to see Adobe able to work more closely with the camera mfgrs. regarding their variations of CODEC's and recording schemes. I would find this particularly useful for PrE, as these are all "consumer CODEC's" and that is the market for PrE. I can see PrPro sticking to more main-stream CODEC's, and such, as it is aimed at a different market, though the two programs do about the same thing.
Some other NLE's, in the PrE arena, seem to do a better job at universal acceptance of CODEC's, but most feel that they are not as powerful, or as easy to use, as PrE is. A trade-off.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Is it possible to move files from corrupted sectors hard drive to a replacement one?

My 2011 macbook pro was recently diagnosed with bad sectors. I am looking to get a replacement hard drive, probably a  750 or 1 tb Seagate SATA. Do you think that is sufficient? I do not play games or do anything memory intensive. The most I do is watch a lot of movies.
Also, is it possible to move files from a corrupted sectors hard drive to the replacement? If so, how would I go about doing this?
Also, for the operating system, it is probably wrong, and can't check since my Mac pro won't get past half way on the start up loading screen.

Try a sector copy with CCC and enable using checksum file copy to insure integrity.
Then Data Rescue 4 - try demo before buying
Do a full erase of a drive before reusing.
Invest in SoftRAID.com going forward as it "looks for" weak sectors, alerts.
Also Google around but SMART Utility has been mentioned as an excellent program/utility -
When a drive has used any of its spare blocks from when it ships is #1 indicator of being time to replace.
And of course always have multiple backup sets, methods and know how to use and restore from. Even do a practice set. I would not use just TimeMachine for instance.
And for some, only a mirror array (minimum two but really consider three drive mirror, with stripe reads to improve performance) can allow pulling one, add a new member and still have a two drive mirror.
Cloud storage for backup. With OneDrive and Facebook backing up all the photos on all your devices, Macs and PCs as well as tablets and phones, you can have 100-200GB quite easily. And there is Google Drive and Amazon as well as others.
A new data drive, a drive to do all  the recovery of files that were on the failed drive(s), and probably a clean system drive and use that as you recover and build your system back up.

  • Is this possible to put a Closed Captioned in small movie file

I ponder if this is doable, attainable and workable to do a small video file that a colleague of mine wanted me to put in a closed captioned into small movie - less than 2 to 4 minutes (three tiny small movie files). I try to explain that I don't think it is doable, attainable and workable to create a closed captioned into small movie file with Final Cut Pro X - especially with 320 in width by 240 pixel in length. My colleague insisted that I do it anyway.
I ask my colleague that if he has original movie file that I can work, so I can export the movie file that is larger than 320 by 240 pixel. He said no.
I told him that how is it possible for me to work with closed captioned into three tiny movie files for presentation-training purpose only.
My gut feeling tells me that it won't do any good, especially with TINY movie file with only 320 by 240. I told my colleague that it is MUCH easier to work with original file that is much larger than what he gave me. I mean, it is easier to edit and put closed captioned or whatever in any video footage.. whenever I am done with it, then export the finished file with closed captioned in it. I also explain to my colleague that if I work with file that is already exported movie file.. then I edit and put closed captioned in that exported file... then export it out of Final Cut Pro X, the quality would be considerable degradation.
Unfortunately, my colleague insisted that I proceed with the project. I hesistate that I'd waste my time for achieving nothing with no measureable result because my gut feeling tells me that my perspective is correct, no?
Am I correct? Is it worth it? Otherwise I'd tell my colleague that my answer will be a resounding no.
    Please advise. Thanks!

You are right that placing text subtitles on such a small size video is likely not great.
By default, FCP X does not support such a small video size; you'd have to blow it up to a standard size and then scale the result back down. But you can use a workaround to do all the work on 320x240 (see this web page:
http://library.creativecow.net/articles/payton_t/FCPX_Custom-Resolution-Timeline s/video-tutorial). That would lessen the losses.
    Still, definitely not great.

My recollection is that you would need to right click on the program executable file after installation and choose properties, then the compatibility tab.
