Is it possible to keep certain emails together in a folder in mac mail

is it possible to keep certain emails together in a separate folder in mac mail?
I have a variety of e-mails pertaining to a particular subject that I would like to keep together.
Thanks in advance

Yes.  Create a new mailbox folder for On My Mac via the Mailbox ➙ New Mailbox menu option.
Name it, select the emails you want to group and drag to the mailbox in the left hand pane of Mail.
In addition you can create a New Smart Mailbox Folder with as many conditions needed to gather the various emails into it.
You will have to move the emails out of the In box to full time storage mailbox created above.

  • Keeping certain tracks together in Shuffle mode

I have some live music (would like to import it in AAF format) that is tracked but I want to keep certain tracks together as "one track" when in shuffle mode.  I don't mind if I need to make a new second track that is this one long connected track, but need an easy way to do it so that it sounds seamless.
    Thanks in advance.

I don't know if this would be seamless enough for your needs, but try using Groups. You can assign tracks to a group be using the "Get Info" window (cmd+I) info tab to assign a grouping.
To choose whether iTunes shuffles by songs, albums, or groupings, choose Controls > Shuffle > [Option].
If you select “by Albums” or “by Groupings,” iTunes plays the songs in the order in which they appear on the album or in the grouping, and then chooses another album or grouping at random.

The only ways I know of for email to get sent to an account are:
    1. It was addressed to that account. Someone used that email address to send you the email.
    2. It was forwarded to that account by the account to which it had been addressed. I am not aware of Mail having this feature but it is often a feature provided by your ISP that you can turn on by logging into your account via the Internet and setting it up.  I assume you have not done this, though.
With several email addresses in the same Mail client, you have to be careful which one you are sending from. If you send from the wrong address, any replies will come back to that same address. I make this mistake all too often.

  • GoDaddy exchange account sent emails not appearing in sent folder in Mac Mail

The problem: I set up my business email address (GoDaddy exchange account) as a new email account in Mac Mail. A few days later I noticed that sent emails were no longer appearing in my sent folder for this account.
The solution: there was a conflict with the Gmail account that I also set up in Mac Mail a few days after I set up my business email. I have deleted my gmail account from Mac Mail and so far so good - sent emails are appearing again in the Sent folder in Mac Mail.
    Note:
    - Emails sent from webmail (Office 365 Outlook) did appear in the Sent folder.
    - GoDaddy thought there was a conflict in the name of the Sent folders (called Sent Items in webmail interface), but said it was a problem Apple should solve.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

Try Settings>Mail, contacts, calendars>Your email account>Advanced>Move Discarded Messages into>Deleted Mailbox.

    mail? need help?

Hi Linc, I started setting up my new computer a few months ago so don't remember the details.  I did not use migration assistant, nor do I wish to, I believe it was set up through icloud.   Now that I needed my calendar while doing taxes I discover there are no events for 2014 and earlier (except 2 oddly enough).  I do remember that iCloud instructions were not clear as to what would happen in the choices it gave.
I copied my old user files over from my external back up after my old computer stopped working, was hoping I could put ical folders in the right place to be used by Calendar or import somehow.

  • Wrong counts on unread emails on my gmail folders in Mac Mail

I have deleted mnessages everywhere and still this count tag appears with same number.

There are two standard protocols for receiving email, POP and IMAP. In the POP (Post Office Protocol) when messages are "read" by your email client (Mail) they are downloaded and stored on the reading computer and deleted from the POP server. When you are using IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) the messages remain on the IMAP server until they are deleted. IMAP was created for exactly the situation you are trying to achieve. For example Apple's iCloud (formerly me.com, formerly mac.com) uses IMAP protocol. So whether I access my email on my Mac, my iPhone, my iPad, or via webmail I have access to all the files in all the various mailboxes automatically because they are all seeing and using the same online mailboxes. If I delete a message on any of the varioius devices it is deleted on all of the various devices.
Whether you can use IMAP protocol or not depends on your email host and whether they have an IMAP server or not. Many ISPs do not offer IMAP because they do not want to bear the expense of the additional disk space required to store the IMAP messages. As I mentioned before Apple's free email service is by default IMAP. Google Mail offers a somewhat non-standard IMAP service. It works with Apple's email client, Mail, but it is just a bit "different".
Personally I resisted using IMAP for years. Largely because I had always used POP and was comfortable with it. Once I got an iPhone and needed to synch my email between my computer and iPhone I realized IMAP was "the only way to go."

  • Is it possible to keep an email account on the iPhone but stop if from checking for new mail?

I have an email account that has been deleted from the provider (Gmail), but I want to keep the old mails on my phone, while stopping it from checking for new mail.  Is this possible?
If I disable the account to stop if from checking for new mail (and producing a bunch of annoying pop-ups every time the mail app is opened), the account becomes invisible and the old mails disappear.  I want to keep them visible to I can read and refer to them, but want to stop the phone from trying to download new ones or check the account.
    Any help appreciated.

Thanks for the thought.  In this case, that doesn't really help much, as it requires a bunch of button pushing just to check emails.  Plus, if I'm not mistaken, in addition to switching modes every time I check email, it also prevents the other accounts from downloading the most recent mails as well.  Since it's possible to keep an account on a Mac computer, but take it offline, it's very disappointing if there isn't a way to do the equivalent on an iPhone so that it passively holds the mails but doesn't send constant pop-ups every time the app is accessed.

  • Random playing, but keeping certain songs together

Is it possible to have certain songs remain together (like Queen's "We Will Rock You" with "We Are The Champions") when playing in a random order?
iTunes plays songs with a cross fade, can the iPod play the songs the same way?

As Chris said, you can re-rip or join the tracks. You can also assign the same Group field to both tracks and select "Shuffle Groupings" in preferences, though I'm not sure this will carry over to the iPod.

  • Is it possible to keep the "Email me when someone replies" checkbox AFTER you make a posting?

I'm not sure if I'm the only who does this, but sometimes I forget to check off this box before submitting a new post (i.e, starting a new message thread). Currently, this feature disappears after you submit a new message thread. It is real useful feature to have, and without it, makes your posting experience a lot less desirable.
Is it technically possible to keep the check-off box available at all times during a posted thread?

    Hi SteveCT99,
It is possible to automatically subscribe to topics you participate in:
At the top of the page, click on the "My Settings" link, located after the "Sign Out" link by your name in the grey box.
Click on the "Subscriptions and Bookmarks" tab
Check box after "Notify me for my own posts and replies"
     - and/or -
Check box after "Automatically subscribe me to topics I participate in" to add the topics to your subscription list.
    Scroll down and Save changes
You should now automatically get notices each time a new reply is added to the topic.
Please let me know if this helps.

  • I need to keep certain emails private for only my viewing (kids). I have a folder called Private. Can I require a pw to open it?

Certain emails are for my eyes only. I put them in a local folder called "private." How can I prevent other users from opening that folder either accidentally or on purpose.

I think a much better approach would be to password protect your User account in the Operating System, and set up another account or accounts for the children. You limit their rights to stop them installing ad-hoc and wrecking the computer. You set up a screensaver with password to lock your account when not at the computer.
This add-on: https://nic-nac-project.org/~kaosmos/profilepassword-en.html lets you password protect your Thunderbird profile, though it is a weak form of protection. OK for very young children, but older kids will likely see it as a challenge to hack it.
    See these:
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Protecting_the_contents_of_the_profile_-_mail
And note "Note: You can password protect the contents of the message pane by setting mail.password_protect_local_cache to true using the configuration editor in conjunction with setting a master password in Thunderbird." listed under "medium methods".
…but I'm not sure how you'd lock the pane once you'd unlocked it. You'd probably have to close Thunderbird, so it challenges the user when next run.
As mentioned in the article and the webpage for the add-on, none of these measures guard against your email being stored in plain text and thus visible to anyone browsing the file system. Therefore your best option is to use User Accounts, with logins and passwords, and control access to your own data that way. A user would need admin ("root") privileges to access your data, or be sufficiently knowledgeable to be able to boot with a linux CD or similar.
Storing your email data on a USB stick that you can take away with you.
All of the above require some diligence and vigilance on your part, as you must remeber to lock or close Thunderbird, or logout, or remove the USB device before you leave the computer. A password-protected screen saver and separate User Accounts in the OS provide the closest to an automated protection system.

  • Possible to get loop to PLAY in an EMAIL automatically? ? ? ? (Mac Mail)

WHen theu user opens his / her email, is it possible to get them to hear the loop snip play automatically from mac mail?

I think you will have to re-phrase your question to get an answer, because it doesn't make sense.
What does "to hear the loop snip play automatically" mean?
Can you describe exactly what you want to do?

  • How can I keep just one of two accounts offline in Mac Mail?

I recently switched from Comcast to Cox Cable. Cox has a known issue with push notifications and email doesn't show up at regular intervals. You have to go offline and back on or quit Mail and then open it again to see new messages. It's a pain but it works.
I still have my Comcast email account enabled on Mac Mail because I need access to old emails and if I disable it (via Preferences), it disappears. I want to take it offline but clicking on the Comcast account and "take comcast.net offline" always takes my Cox account offline as well. I can't get them to both stay online because the Comcast account hangs when it can't connect to Comcast. This really exacerbates the already annoying issue of having to take Cox offline and back on.
I tried going into the Comcast account via Preferences and unchecking "include when automatically checking for new messages" but when I did so, it kept the Cox account from receiving any messages at all (I confirmed this by checking webmail, and by toggling it on and off to see what happened).
I need some solution that allows me to see the comcast account in mail without having it be active in any way. I have other mailboxes archived but that process doesn't offer the search capability that I need.

Aha! I have been doing just that. However, what has been tripping me up is that I am also used to clicking the Go Online/Go Offline toggle button on the top menu bar when I manually check for messages on Cox. Apparently when you take one inbox offline, that button switches to Off even though the other inbox is still online. If I just ignore that button and go on or off via the cox mailbox listing, it keeps comcast from being reactivated.
Thanks so much for helping me think this through.
Edited to add: I removed that dang button from my menu so I can stop clicking it.

  • TS4002 iCloud emails message body showing blank in Mac mail.

  • Can a Microsoft exchange email account be set up in mac mail?  It is a 2003 exchange account

I am trying so far in with no luck to try and set up an exchange email in Mac mail.  Apple support seemed to want to get rid if me and just said that exchange 2003 is too old th work with mac mail.  Is this true or is there any way to get this set up?

No, not if it's Exchange 2003.  You will have issues with it.  2007 was the first support for Mac Mail or Outlook on the Mac side that syncs with the newest protocols Mac uses, but even that was flaky.  Exchange 2010 is the best version minimum for proper and easy support for new Mac email integration.
Also, even OWA on 2003 will have a few screen glitches on it too through pretty much any browser short of IE, which you can't run on Mac unless you run Windows in a Parallels environment.
About the only thing you could do is do POP or IMAP with Exchange 2003, but those aren't configured out of the box on the server.
